Strange YouTube Videos - Episode 7

[Music] I'm sure most of you have heard about the legend of the hanging munchkin in The Wizard of Oz legend has it that one of the munchkins onset fell in love and upon being rejected decided to hang himself on set in this scene of the movie as Dorothy the Tin Man and the Scarecrow are walking down the road you can see in the background what appears to be the munchkin hanging from one of the trees of course this is just a myth you can see me fully debunk it in the video that I'll leave in the description the video that we're looking at today spawned from all the rumors but as very different occurrence altogether on April 24th 2016 a youtuber named hi this is Derek 237 uploaded a video biers going to debunk the hanging munchkin hoax once and for all well I happen to have that VHS here so I wanted to give it a look I wanted to check and hopefully debunk that rumor forever that urban legend squash it the video is pretty straightforward he takes an old VHS tape of The Wizard of Oz and plays the scene where the munchkin is the son of the hanging munchkin is indeed actually just a crane okay there we go Lindsay what's odd however is what I've seen during the static part of the video this face briefly appears twice but Derek doesn't even seem to notice it this video may put an end to one legend but it created a new one everyone in the comments went crazy trying to figure out where it came from as fun as it is to entertain the idea of some type of obscure mystery behind the face appearing in his video I feel like the simplest explanation here is that Derek just put that face in here to creep people out and hopefully gain some publicity this is apparent for a number of reasons first of all this face only appears in Derek's VHS nowhere else on YouTube second Derek never addressed the face despite almost every one of the comments asking about it and finally I can point out where the face in the VHS tape is from in an unreleased trailer from The Exorcist this face appears in a side-by-side comparison it's pretty obvious they're the same I think that solidly puts this one to rest [Music] of the many communities of YouTube there exists a mapping community they make video is about creating maps and playing out scenarios of fantasy maps one memorable member of his community was a young kid went by the name of golden rebel 25 he worked on his videos for one year in seven months and during this time he brought up that he was fighting leukemia on May 9th 2015 golden rebel couldn't fight off the cancer any longer and passed away after the community mourn their loss about three years later this livestream played on golden rebels channel the livestream begins with someone walking around outside at night the majority of the video is this person walking around - mumbling things to themselves around 11 minutes into the video they abruptly break into a sprint at one point it sounds like he's saying it's coming after 12 minutes and 45 seconds the livestream comes to an end the mapping community was baffled by this some kid who makes mapping videos on YouTube dies from cancer and then three years later this gets uploaded to his inactive channel without any context no one knew what to make of it a few people from the mapping community banded together to create a task force dedicated to solving the mystery behind this I won't bore you with every detail of the investigation but it concluded when they were able to link several details of the mystery to another mapper named the one-legged fascist he eventually confessed to creating the golden ripple 25 account as an alternate account and then faking the death of that account golden rebel 25 never actually existed guys I just want to let you know of a second YouTube channel that I have it actually originally existed under a different name but I said it's a rebrand it it's called owl er and on there I'm gonna just be posting videos that don't belong on scare theater it's gonna be videos of all like whole different variety so if you're interested go subscribe to our check out some of the videos and let me know what you think [Music]
