- I don't need to
know what's in there. I get a feel. Get me the Kraken. Oh, there it is. Talking to my mom last
night, and she starts to bust my horns
about how poorly I've been doing with these lockers. And she says, you'd
be better off bidding blindfolded, the way you bid. The old gal might
be on to something. This one is for you, Mom. I don't need to know
what's in there. I get a feel. And I'm feeling like
this is the one. All right, here we go.
Number 20. What are you going to pay?
- 100. [AUCTIONEER CHANT] 100 now, 2. [AUCTIONEER CHANT] 3? 3 now? I can go-- Here we go. 5, 5, 5. Yes! I 5, 5, 5 and a half? [AUCTIONEER CHANT]
Can I get 600? 6 and a half, and you're out. [AUCTIONEER CHANT] 7? 7 and a half?
7 and a half? 7 and a half?
Going twice. Here, here. - OK, right here.
- Put 8 there? 8?
How about 8? You're out.
800. 850. 900. 950. 950. $1,000. 1,000 there? 1,000? What about 1,050? - Here, here.
- 1,050. 11?
11? 1,100 where?
1,100? 11 and a half. You're out now? Yes, sir. Yep. 12 and 1/2? I'll take it back. I don't care who's
bidding against me. I'm already tasting victory. Yep! [AUCTIONEER CHANT] 1,600. 1,650?
1,600. 16 and a half. Yes! What about 17? 1,750. 1,750 going once, twice-- What about 17? [AUCTIONEER CHANT]
- Yep! 18. What about bidding 1,800?
Going once. 18.
- Yes! I got 1,800. 1,850, going once. I got 1,800.
1,850? Going twice. All in, [AUCTIONEER CHANT] sold
it your way, to the blind man. 1,800. I'm about to lay my
eyes on this beauty for the very first time. I'm impressed. First box of the day, and
it looks to be clothes. Black satin. So last season. Nothing. Something. Heh. Looks like a waffle maker,
but it's not a waffle maker. Champion Candy Crimper. Whoa! Almost crimped my hand. Now, I'm going to find a
connoisseur of confections. We've got a lot of money
to make up on this locker. I'm going to see
Jerry, the candy man. Well-- He's been making candy
by hand for 27 years. I'm going to hand you
a piece of candy here, and you're just going to feed
it right through the machine. Just start cranking the handle. Start cranking-- whoa. Whoa, whoa! Hey!
There we go. Look at that. See? Wow, that's it? That's it. Well, Jerry,
why don't we blast through the hard candy shell
and get right to the nougat? How much? Well, you know,
it is a rare find, and the condition it's in,
it is missing a few parts. I would-- I'd give you
300 cash for it right now, if you're interested. Are you kidding? I wish I could give you-- That is it? I thought it'd be worth a
hell of a lot more than that. Oh, boy. A safe unit. But that don't mean it's safe. Wow. I tell you what-- come on in. Whoa! Whoa, whoa! Eddie, I didn't see you. - You did.
- He did. Learn his lesson the hard way. Kick him out. You're not allowed
to go in the unit. You're not allowed
to touch anything. I made a big faux pas. I was eliminated
from the bidding, but I have what the French
would call "le backup plan." [AUCTIONEER CHANT] I know what Barry up to. He got Frenchie
over here bidding. No respect. [AUCTIONEER CHANT] 500? 500-- Here. Oui. 6 there. Anybody put 650? I've $600. What about 6 and a half?
You're out. $600?
What about 650? Going once. $600? What about 650? [INAUDIBLE] Sold out, [INAUDIBLE],,
6 and a half. And that is what they
call "le switcheroo." Suckers. Now that everybody's gone, I've
employed a clever disguise. Trying to sneak
up on my own unit. There she is. I gotta do this smartly,
because if I don't damage the safe, at least
I'll have something to sell when all this is over. I wish you could
hear what I hear. Nothing. [TAPPING] The curiosity is eating me up. Now all I care about is
getting the damn thing open. Time for the old blowtorch. Well, that didn't
prove effective. Get me the Kraken. Hey, Kraken-- over here. Barry? Yeah, it's me. Come on in here, man. Well, I don't think
it's going to open, man. I mean, I tried
everything I could. Kraken, do what you do. You want me to get cracking? Yeah. [BUZZING] Mr. Weiss, the
honors are yours. She's free. Here we go. Nothing. Nothing, nothing, nothing. Well, you got
plenty of nothing. You bet. Other than the face of it,
tit's not in too bad a shape. I think once you
took that torch out, it was more like
a fait accompli. I think he's right. Let's go crack open
a couple of beers. Sounds like a plan. All right, we're going
to do it right now. Here we go, how much money? Let's start it at 500. 500? He already bid 500?
- What? Isn't it auction time? I got 800 here. 900 where?
800. 900.
950. Want to go 1,000 there? 1,100 back. Where do we want to go?
1,200. What about 13? What about 13? - 15!
- I got 15. 15. What about 16? 15, 16, 16, 17, 17, 17. 17.
- Yeah. I've got 17. You're out. Who am I up against? I can't tell you. Well, I can tell you. 17, 18, 18. I'm now bringing a rear
view mirror to this thing. - Here, here.
- 2,100. 22?
Want to play? What about three? Three? 23, sir? 24? 2,300, 24. - Here, here.
- 2,500. I've got 25. I am on your ass. I've got 2,500
here, and 2,600 where? And 26, and 20-- 27. Here, here. - Woo!
- 27. What about 28? Yeah! I got 2,800. 2,900.
- 29! 29! 3,000? What about 3? 3? [AUCTIONEER CHANT] I've
got 2,900 going once. Yeah, I don't want that crap. Ah! You get it. [AUCTIONEER CHANT]
Fair warning, guys. - That's it.
- Sold it! There, you got it. The mirror worked. All right. Looks better the
second time around. Ah, the foosball table-- I think something like
this is worth about $250. This one's in--
in good condition. These actually are
old Victorian-- they're 100 years old. They've been re-upholstered. Not very well, but
these are a couple hundred bucks apiece
for the frames. We're getting into the
belly of the beast. Oh, there it is. Now I know why it was so heavy. Get this up, and
we can look at it. Yeah, we got
something good here. It's a very old, turn of
the century cash register. I used to collect them. The guy that got me
started collecting them, about 30 years ago-- he would know exactly what
the current value is worth. And let's take it to him. My buddy, Bob, is the
king of cash machines. Hopefully, he can help
me ring up a profit. So we're looking at
a 100-year-old thing. Oh, yeah, it's more
than 110 years now. Yeah. These keys are glass,
which is the early version, which is really good,
because they don't wear out. Unfortunately, you're missing
two parts here, I see. Yeah. These we could try
to hunt down for you. And of course, you
need a complete take apart and re-plate. How much do you
think, after we take it through that
process, would it be worth? In the fully
restored condition-- probably in the neighborhood
of $2,000 to $2,500. Really? That's good news. That's a realistic,
conservative-- It's going to
cost you half that-- cost you 12, $1,300
to restore it. You didn't say that. Well, I did now. There's always a catch.
