public area publicly um well there's no assumption of privacy in public you're a public employee there's a publicly accessible area so oh you have to talk to you you don't have to you don't have to speak with your lawyer you have to just read the Constitution it is this is the court right you guys protect everybody's rights here right oh no it says court yeah don't ever call the police on anybody over a camera please because it's a constitutionally protected activity so anybody can work on a story and publish it so just keep that in mind okay have a good one but let's take a look in here no no we're all set what are you guys doing here hey char oh cool I'm sorry oh yeah it's it's perfectly fine how are you doing great doing great oh yeah this it's perfectly fine trust me I'm No are you doing girl how are you any either one of yous the treasure I am the treasurer hi good how you doing how does a bunch of looking uh we haven't got it yet you mean this is the current year budget or the current status your current status the budget I believe we're doing pretty well okay is that contributed by the red likens in parking meters big help yeah do you know how much that brings in a year I top my head I do not I believe that around estimates were four million per year half of that goes to the camera correctly it's kind of a lot I've never heard of a business existing solely to rattle its neighbors well I don't I don't develop policy we only rent with we're budget people there can you influence to change policy they make suggestions in City Hall great absolutely could you make this a suggestion you want to go back to the finance community meetings and take a look at them okay well I hope you do speak out and hopefully you don't get any tickets thank you thanks guys no victim no crime all right good job Joe concerned about videotaping in public accessible areas you tell me briefly mean well well you well it are you at work right now okay so what you okay you're welcome ask mr. one if you can do it okay hi how are you good I'm just taking a little video building okay no well what do you guys do here okay okay cool well just working on a little story going on I'm sorry myself yes all right you have a good day goodbye how's it going all right all right just working a little video said anything going on here today yeah no okay all right cool sorry history upstairs sure anything yeah anything you want to show us yeah yeah yeah so like this simply this guy stole something but then the way over here is that goes actually mine there's like a whole like Fort Knox they have like they use these measurements in the base all and this is when we had a gold standard and a run so much of its use anymore it's based on kilograms or something like that obviously it's done by the any DCC which is a Conservation Center these are some of our earliest records 16 items and they're in Cajun alone a lot of this stuff was actually written by Roger Williams and we're gonna have some of this just stuff on display another do the Roger Williams on display yeah yeah yeah it's pretty cool you'll have to pardon the mess here I just took an exhibit down I wish I'm sorry I wish I left it up for you guys this is a good weird this is downtown Providence looking at 1925 oh wow so okay that's the federal buildings yep that's where the Superman building used to be yep the Superman this used to be over here that's the soldiers sailors monument outside this is around this is when the soldiers returning home in 1919 this is during a peak population in 1925 well that Federal Reserve was a Federal Reserve building at the time no this was this is very listen right here oh yeah yep and this is a Butler Exchange building okay so that was worse the Superman building is now and that was a department store at one point this has been there since 1912 and this is a the trolleys I would say yeah yeah this is one heavy flaws was all open and these these arches are basically that they were temporary since we've come in and out okay they weren't permanent fixtures they use him on like special mayor Doyle he saw their floor that's a photograph of him when he was older see the larger use I was probably painted in 1864 because they would actually paint the portraits when they started in office okay now it's raised by private funds your honor they usually when they're older yeah yeah yeah I know it is good they stopped paying for it I think in the 1950s I don't know the exact resolution when it came out but it's kind of it's pretty recent you always in fun they didn't have yeah well as you can see this whole building to its building is uh really that it's a building that was built in the Gilded Age so I got extremely affluent as you can see what would you consider the style that they call an empire style employ or and uh I would liken it basically to the mansion to Newport we look at the costs and materials even if you can imagine it cost a million dollars to build in the in 1878 take inflation to account I mean they're talking about yeah yeah maybe even more like they say that the State House calls them like do 1.4 billion dollars I mean create yeah so and that's what it looked like in 1880 in the interior shout 1886 this might actually be 78 I can't remember its before the major renovation in 1914 but the floor we're on now the use of these old bust in here and it's always there's a hallway but it's kind of closed off okay that's a Board of Aldermen some time to turn of the century hmm and did you guys all get kicked out of this this was supposed to look like seen you all a mess you're in that a tower yeah and the reason for of us even though it was an apple of time that Gilded Age there we had a major depression in 1873 was called the panic of 73 and partly have to do a lot with Rhode Island is the spray gun fire collapse they're big textile empire you ever heard of Sprague's ville and all that there's a whole empire basically of textile mills open up the Cranston Smithfield area okay in both areas so they couldn't justify putting spires on but that was the initial design well as a Pawtucket in there tower yeah it wasn't originally built the tower and they added on later mmm and then they just voted out early two years ago to keep it and I've taken it down cost them more money to keep it yes yeah no yeah well that's I think that's a challenge to we face here because you got to realize this billions build with gilded age material and it's really hard to find that material like if you could see the experience on marble that tile is from Barcelona Spain okay I mean it's it's very difficult buddy cianci actually was initiated a conservation project in a 1870 I mean sorry 19 18 17 1978 coincidentally around the anniversary you okay the building that's kind of when the archives was founded and was an effort to preserve the historic integrity of the building okay before that the extra had asbestos tile and the partition walls yeah yeah not very pleasant though yet and in the 1960s they were even talking about demolishing the building like kind of like what Boston did with their City Hall okay they moved him into that brutalist style concrete bill yeah yeah no it's like what happened years that place is cold yeah no no he was a Master Mason and they had we have a newspaper article three thousand Mason's show up parade saerom a blessing ceremony essentially and they had like bands and everything else okay and they essentially laid the cornerstone and everything else but if you go into you know the council chambers or the aldermen chambers they basically look it looks like a Masonic yeah I'm not surprised she's like the Renaissance of Lincoln closes ability to Statehouse and yeah there's no poison
