it is Curtis Stone glacier we've been getting quite a few inquiries as to the types of gear list that we use here at shop pact selection so gonna take you through what I will be using this year primarily during September and October they'll be sheep and goat hunt it's a four season hunt and so we'll show you the individual gear as long as they as well as a pack so I'll be using the Eagle 40:56 this is my pack of choice primarily because the X curve and the evil fit me equally as well I like the weight savings of the 40 56 when I can have it so let's start from the top down in the lid I prefer to carry my water and one Swing Out pocket and this has everything that I need for the trail on the day has in reach ear protection has an extra dope chart extra rounds headlamp extra batteries things so you don't have to dig through your pack to find them along the trail like said also use lid for water I'm using platypus a three liter in the top lid and then I'll show you I also carry two two liters for extra water on the longer honks where you might not have water readily available last thing I'll have is phone scope attachment [Music] once we go inside the pack working from the top down I carry my rain gear on top this is rain gear that stone glacier has in development so I'll be using this year as well as waterproof mitts to go over softshell gloves next I have one extra canister of fuel and then first aid kit knife sharpener tags anything that you might need fire starter along those lines now on the side where my glassine set up of a lightweight tripod made by Cyr you and it's right at two pounds and I put the Atlas Picatinny rail attachment on top inside on the spotting scope pocket I'm carrying a swaro 85 once again Picatinny rail is aluminum Picatinny rail on here quick attached to the tripod the other thing that this allows me to do is I carry a Weatherby 300 in the ultralight and we also have I have a Picatinny rail on there so I'm able to either shoot off of my tripod attach my spotting scope to the tripod or use the Atlas bipod on the longer hunts I won't be carrying that less bipod just because it's just as easy to shoot off the tripod if you need to and then as we work through the pack I have it set right now for seven days so I have seven days of food I individually wrap my food this is all food that does not need to be cooked so I can save weight on both stove and fuel primarily bars types of food that can be rehydrated without actually boiling the water so like say 7 days of that and as I have it loaded in my pack I'll place the food in and amongst in any of the void areas to maximize space for a stove I'm using one of the small little MSR pocket rockets ever new titanium so the whole setups right at 7 ounces you can store one small canister inside and extra toilet paper right there to keep it from rattling around I carry three different compression sacks in mind two of the event waterproof type this has the grooming down top and bottom jacket and pants I also have extra socks my softshell gloves any of those things I want to keep dry primarily clothing two more days of food another one and my sleeping pad so this is the X therm made by therm-a-rest and then this is the stone glacier skyscraper tent two-person I also put that in a compression sack just saves on weight or saves on space excuse me so you can add more weight to the pack if you need to for the given amount of space that you have carry the tent poles and you may have seen on both my thermal rest and on the rain gear that I'm using velcro one wrap it's really light you can then you can keep everything tight and compressed and also use those on the temples [Music] then this is the Chilkoot 15 degree bag once again in a waterproof event compression bag that I believe is a size small that fits that very well you know their day's worth of food last thing in the pack is one roll top dry bag for meat to the carryout this also works very well too particularly when you're hunting in the wilderness to be able to store your bag in the meat and sling it in a tree as required by most of the wilderness specs on the outside of the pack I have a very well used old therm-a-rest Ridgecrest for seating pad while you're glossing and the last two things in here I guess that I have are these are the two extra water containers that carry water bladders one has a squirt top makes it a little bit easier to transfer water but on the in on those days when you're camping you might be a days away from water you can carry extra water I can go two days with seven liters and that right there is is my gear list like say they will be using this in September all of this is set up for a solo hunt so I would there isn't any shared gear if you're hunting with a partner obviously there's some of this gear that you'd be able to split between two packs my gear list won't change in between whether it's a three five day or a fourteen day it'll just be more packages of food regards to food calories weight I typically try to shoot for somewhere between 1.5 and 1.8 1.9 pounds of food today calories the sweet spot for me I find that if I have any more than 3000 calories in a day I don't eat them so typically I'm carrying 27 to 2,800 calories per day also try to stick to foods that do not require any cooking so then I can go minimal on on stove and fuel primarily just bring the the fuel to melt snow water or ice water ice from residual snow fields if you need to on the day-to-day everything's in here separated by day so start it in the morning I carry a couple of different types of goose shots that have caffeine in so I don't have to cook make coffee in the morning just roll with that normally start the day with either a pemmican bar some sort of pro bar something in the 400 calorie range and then throughout the day have several other different types of bars one of them in being green belly meals and these are great because there's 650 calories for two bars so it's essentially a meal replacement on both ends and I try to eat consistently throughout the day taking 100 to 200 calories every hour to two hours throughout the day and then at night one of my favorites shown me by one of my good buddies they start with is ramen noodles all different types of ramen noodles that you can get rice they're all equally as good once again you don't have to cook these you can just rehydrate them so if you get them in water 45 minutes an hour before you want to eat or you can just warm water so you don't have to use as much fuel and then a day this is a coconut almond butter if you add that to this it's like poor man's pad thai good stuff and it's inexpensive you
