and maybe even here's some of his hip-hop music who knows only time will tell the Dave Ramsey show is coming up right now emotionally you just been through the ring we're not afraid of hard work and you have to note that everything in painful you did the hard work and you've done so good [Music] you know when you've had it that something has to happen inside of you slow and steady live on less than you make believe that it can happen it does happen every day in America you are the answer God's blessings pouring to and through you are the answer [Music] in the lobby of Ramsey solutions of Steve is with us hey Steve how are you man what's up day welcome welcome are you from from Atlanta Georgia and you are up here this week for the financial coach master series training yeah what's what very cool you learn a lot yeah a whole lot I bet Chris Hogan is a great teacher he's yeah he's yeah I like his voice too yeah he's got the voice that is very cool and while you're here you decide to do a debt-free scream nd I gotta get it out get it over with I love it had a pre-arranged of that actually I'm sure right I did I don't have to get in line they worked out perfectly though yeah good so how much have you paid off seventy four thousand five hundred and sixty two dollars I love it and how long did that take fifteen less good for you and your range of income during that time I stayed at 78,000 what do you do for a living I do like some Quality Assurance work okay yeah good good for you what kind of debt was the $75,000 my whole life school of the car file credit cards personal loan in a personal line of credit your normal man I was weird and yeah normal normally broke yeah Wow so what happened fifteen months ago they set you on fire man uh right so I was you know kind of raised in a single mom low-income households I never learn anything about money right right fortunately I got a scholarship to college one day Georgia Southern University cool and unfortunately a year into it I lost my scholarship oh so here comes school walls right Ryan get out I get a decent job start making some money stop wanted to buy all the things I never could buy right living way above my means and so as some idiot ellonija the money on every corner yeah they would give me whatever I want it yeah yeah so um January 2016 I got a call from my manager he says you're being laid off so that was my wake-up call and you know this is at the point where I had the most debt I've ever had and the least amount of money saved and right so that caused need to really look at my finances I realize I was over $70,000 in debt Wow so friends your crap out of man I you know I didn't know if I wanted to jump off a cliff or just run a car into the wall man yeah but yeah so a friend tell me about your book I read it it was a slap in the face five slaps in the face really yeah and then so I so horse will flow with the job situation I got his job offer from my last day on payroll so yeah yeah yeah so that I read the book by there so I was just like let me just go go straight to it and so I I was hesitant about psych I did get my bonus and then I did get like a pretty big tax refund that time mm-hmm and so at that point I'm just like well I was scared to drop down to a thousand I'm just like I just lost my job in all the pro quo I want to keep this money um so I was like well I want to sell this car this car makes no sense so I was going around to dealerships trying to get an offer they were completely low balling yeah I'm just like I'm not gonna do it I'll just keep it paid off and then so I gave away $13,000 to my credit cards and was dropped down to 1000 Wow two days later I get to a car accident oh my gosh I'm like you know I have a thousand dollar deductible at this hour I'm like all I have is a thousand some like this sucks so three days after that the insurance company told me the car was a total loss so this was the best car accident and I get ever gotten sued yeah I was trying to get rid of anyway you got it sold for full price yes offer for price nobody got hurt it was it wasn't that bad of an accident actually so there but now I'm like well I only have $1,000 and I need a car mm-hmm couple more days later they finally did the assessment on my car and it was worth more than the hold on it so I got money back Wow yeah and I so I got a free car about a car with the money I got back and how expensive was that one I paid 3850 for it 3,800 bucks yeah and what was the one that you totaled worth I was worth 25,000 okay and you're a single guy so you just stepped down out of a nice ride into D yeah yeah but it gets me around just fine yeah and um and so I can change the message on the message center on the radio and in my hope D car and I changed it to say rmz plan so every time I get in it keeps me from getting car fever people give my card a laugh at it you know love it yeah it gets me around just fine yeah I'm sorry yeah yeah another funny story when I was calling to close my credit cards one of them was just like well won't you just keep one for an emergency I said well I'll just use cash for an emergency and she said are you closing all your credit cards I said yeah every last one of them she said you must be doing that Dave Ramsey crap yes as you guessed it score ding ding you're right 25 grand went with a car deal well yeah well night scene cancelled the night scene up thousand other day and then I bought a car with some of it okay and then yeah it's on cash flow about 55 then you got some bonus and you got a tax return the rest of it came straight out of your salary correct yeah about 30 out of my salary so when you got the new job and your game on game or was that a raise slightly okay so you didn't step back you move it was slightly $3,000 race that's good though yeah it's good that's very cool it does it feel now oh I feel like you're nailing they don't like a gentleman you know I wake up I don't I don't know what to do I like it when I get paid I just have all this money and nothing to pay but I'm still like in cheapskate most I don't spending money I love it yeah cool what about your mom as she watched you do this she has she yeah she's proud my grandmother's extremely proud yeah yeah your mom take a cue is she gonna be able to do it you gonna be able to help her oh she says well she told me she has about 11,000 she says she's wanted to get rid of it so she sounds motivated so you go no good I wants my help you know more in depth did I will but I won't try to okay that's it well you're assertive you're a certified coach now so I mean yeah yeah yeah it feels good yes I look forward to being over help what do you tell people the key to getting out of debt is what did you dare hold are you again 30 so 30 year old single guy yeah and you pass $75,000 in 15 months including the $19,000 car deal right and what do you tell people the secret to getting out of debt is I'll give a few one you if possible final reason that's bigger than you you know think about your family or if you have kids think about your kids just think about you know were you thinking about what was your why well so I look forward to being a husband and a father and um you know what I embark on that you know when when it's my time to step into those shoes I want to just you know be as financially empowered as I don't worry about finances over here so that was my biggest why and then I have some some pleasurable eyes too you know I like to travel I like to travel a lot and I just like to sleep better better another one arm accountability is big I put my goals up on my way on my bathroom mirror um watch the show every day what's the difference they're free screams mm-hmm the budget like you have to tell your money where to go or it's gonna disappear you know definitely and um last but not least just keeping God in the center of your life you know so it became more of a spiritual walk for me finally found a church to join and you know everything you know life is just a lot better girl yeah so you are in control of your life man well done thank you thank you very proud of everything you do or you too yeah now we got a copy of Chris Hogan's book you've already spent the week with him my apartment I told him I purposely didn't buy his book because I wanted to win it that's good maybe that big deep voice laughs I did yeah : that laughs a channel my inner Chris when I do this okay that'll be good oh that works out nothing like cool so we got a copy of that for you that's the retire inspired book number one bestseller that's the next chapter we'll talk to you again when your millionaire and that really won't be very long at the rate you're going you really got your hands around this I'm
