other has quite left their mark like stephen king for over 40 years he's written unique and memorable stories and his works have been on the rise of popularity recently kickstarted by 2017's it with bill skarsgard and jj abrams castle rock series but he had never truly faded and for good reason with around 100 titles to his name king crafted a multiverse that even die hard fans have yet to fully comprehend the core of his multiverse is the dark tower the dark tower is the center of the multiverse a contract that holds everything together the tower also connects all realities if it was ever destroyed reality would collapse being who wants to do so is the crimson king and game antagonist of the dark tower series due to this goal the crimson king plays a hand in many of stephen king's stories across a multiverse protagonist of the series is roland the gunslinger who is tasked with protecting the tower dark tower series is a culmination of most of stephen king's work answering many questions from other stories not answered in their own books one of the most pivotal moments in all of king's saga is the inclusion of himself in his mythos to clarify something about the multiverse king includes our real life earth as part of his stories labeled as keystone earth when roland visits bridgeton maine on keystone earth the same bridgeton from the mist he meets and speaks with stephen king in canon of the series king sits down with his written character forming roland that if this version of king dies rowan would fail his mission especially telling him that stephen king is the linchpin for everyone's safety it is even implied in the story that the crimson king was behind the real life car accident the hospitalized king in the middle of him writing the series if king had died in the accident the story would be unfinished literally leaving roland with no way to complete his mission backing away from the dark tower for now another common occurrence throughout king's multiverse is a power called the shine first directly referred to in the shining however it was not the first time we'd seen the power in fact the shine dates back to stephen king's very first published novel carrie the shine also called the touch in the dark tower is a psychokinetic power few get and even fewer have the ability to use to the fullest short list of characters that possess the shine in some way or form are danny torrance from the shiny and dr sleep jonesy from dreamcatcher carrie from kerry jake chambers from dark tower and johnny smith from the dead zone the crimson flack also appears as the villain in eyes of the dragon simply called flag he is also the secondary antagonist of the dark tower series the man in black flag is the most persistent villain steven king created the final major string in king's multiverse is the shop the shop is a secret agency that experiments with many factors within the multiverse primarily with thinni's the portals between king's separated worlds they're responsible for things such as giving charlie her powers and fire starter and opening athene to the macroverse that let out the creatures in the mist the macroverse being where creatures like the ones from the mist and pennywise come from the shop was also referenced in the stand that's pretty much the big things that connect king's works together there are plenty of smaller strains though ace merrell the bully from stand by me not only cameoed and needful things but also grew up long enough to die in the events of castle rock season two before andy dufresne was locked up in shawshank and shawshank redemption he made a stock portfolio for dussender the nazis survivor and apt pupil father callahan from salem's lot became a prominent character in dark tower from five onward even finding a copy of salem's lot while on keystone earth that said stephen king's multiverse is a vast expanse with many entertaining interconnected stories and wherever it goes from here whether we get new stories or more of the old one can only imagine if we can get more convoluted
