you know guys it's interesting to look at the AFC North right now in terms of Stadium situations because really all four of these teams have stadiums that are very similar in terms of age and they've all got a similar question is it Renovations or is it a new stadium when it comes to the Cleveland Browns it does look like it could potentially be a new stadium we know the Baltimore Ravens are getting a big time renovation the Bengals right now deciding possibly around a $300 million renov themselves and then when it comes to the Pittsburgh Steelers this has been something that's talked about really for over a year now will they decide to go with a renovation or a potential new stadium based on the location and based on what their ownership is saying it seems very obvious they will be doing some type of big-time renovation you can see the future of pits stadium is under consideration because remember the Pittsburgh Panthers the college football team also shares this home and I think that's a bad situation in and of itself if I was a Pittsburgh Panthers fan I would not love the the relationship whenever a college team plays at an NFL stadium it just doesn't work out well there's not a lot of HomeField Advantage you're dealing with a bunch bunch of empty seats arore stadium is far too big in terms of capacity for pit but you can see the Pittsburgh Steelers and the pit Panthers share a home stadium on Pittsburgh's Northshore but that could change with their current contract as leases for the stadium are nearing expiration and you would think that would theoretically give the ownership leverage against the fan base to potentially want taxpayer money to fund this Stadium although honestly this is the Pittsburgh Steelers it's not like you're going to leverage and say oh we're going to relocate that's not going to be an option but they could say with the lease potentially coming up we want a BigTime renovation we want it publicly funded something similar to what the Baltimore Ravens are doing you can take a look at MNT Bank Stadium I did not do a video on those Renovations when they were announced because it was I mean $300 million is a lot of money but it's mainly based around the exterior of the stadium and could we see the Steelers mimic the Baltimore Ravens in terms of their renovation when it comes to potential upkeep and modernization of arore Stadium I think it's possible the Steelers owner Art Rooney II said that the franchise is currently assessing the long-term viability of the stadium which has housed both his team and the pit football team since it completed construction 22 years ago so that's an interesting choice of words and this is an article that's not very old it's just a few months old it came out in late January they're at this offseason it looks like they're assessing long-term viability so if they deem it potentially not worth it to dump money into a renovation could you be looking at the Steelers possibly getting a new stadium it's hard to say because the location of the current Steeler Stadium right next to PNC Park it's a good area is there really enough room next to the alagan to potentially build a new stadium development I don't really think so so to me it seems like it's probably going to be a stadium renovation for the Steelers but you truly never know when it comes to assessing a Stadium's current situation a lot of this depends on the ownership and what they want to do the possibility of getting a dome the amount of other events it would attract but from what I've heard when it comes to the Steelers ownership and their brass it seems like they're really happy with this stadium and I would guess some type of modernization is what's going to be happening to the Steelers this is not like a brown situation where the Browns are either getting a $1.2 billion renovation because they recently apparently upped the price on the potential renovation for the Brown Stadium it started at a mill it's 1.2 now or the Browns are getting a brand new stadium in a suburb could the Steelers move to a suburb I mean this is just crazy speculation at this point although it was floated last year that that could potentially be an option it always seems like when it comes to these NFL stadiums the first step is oh let's move the team to a suburb we've seen that several different times now with Brook Park and Arlington Heights we are going through a stadium assessment at this point really looking at what's it going to take to be in this Stadium for the the next 10 20 years whatever it's going to be it's a process and we've hired some Consultants to help us look at it we like the stadium it's a great facility and with the right kind of improvements can continue to be our home for a long time so it seems like the ownership is hedging a little bit but mainly wants to stay at arore stadium originally Hines Field it's an unfortunate name change but it is what it is that happens sometimes so I would expect the Steelers to go the renovations route again this is just speculation maybe things go sour a 22-year-old stadium you might think 22 years young that's you know they should have another 10 years left guys this was an extremely cheap Stadium I want to say this was the cheapest stadium in the NFL and at this point it still is obviously they're not going to make stadiums more cheap just based off of inflation but this stadium is very Bare Bones so if there was ever a stadium that would be replaced very quickly it would be this one based off the initial cost in comparison to something like Cleveland Brown Stadium although you could argue Cleveland brown stadium was a rushed project and a lot of people have said the location of Cleveland Brown Stadium is also a motivation Factor behind the team getting a new stadium about 13 months ago Pittsburgh's athletic director came out and said that they had not had any specific conversations about the Panther's future at the stadium the Steelers owner saying quote we'd love to and we assume we will extend the lease at some point we haven't quite gotten to that point yet and again it's interesting timing because if you're going to ask for a renovation and you've got a lease that's expiring that could potentially be used as leverage for the Steelers would the Steelers consider possibly putting a roof on this Stadium I highly doubt it it would cost a ton of money just look at the Jacksonville Jaguars and and I've actually thought about the Jaguars I don't know how much land is available in Jacksonville but you would think if you're going to pay $1.4 billion why not just build a new stadium I don't know we'll have to see how that development ends up because it is kind of like a complete rebuild of their original Stadium but they're they're still keeping the seating either way when it comes to the Steelers the Browns the Ravens the Bengal all of these stadiums at similar spots in terms of their age right now I would say the Browns the odds on favorite to get a new stadium the other three teams we already know it's been confirmed the the Ravens have taken the plunge on the $300 million renovation we do also have the Bengals deciding possibly leaning towards the renovation but not a lot has come out about that and then also the Steelers there was murmurings last year there were rumors and maybe there will be this year as well of a potential new stadium but right now based on what the owner is saying it seems like a renovation to their current stadium and a lease extension is in store for this team and also the location is very good so that's another thing that plays into it verse a situation like the Browns where maybe the stadium situation the where it's located is not highly regarded which would incentivize the Browns moving and getting a new stadium it's not the same for the Steelers but you could understand the stadium is Bare Bones it was extremely cheap and that's why I would imagine the Steelers would dump some money into potentially renovating it considering I would personally not rank it very high in terms of NFL stadiums obviously it was extremely cheap Stadium there's really nothing special about it it's very blend it's like a worst version of Gillette Stadium in Foxboro in my opinion when it comes to it so I would imagine there's going to be an infusion of money when it comes to a new stadium it's unlikely unless there's some crazy sweetheart deal maybe from a neighboring suburb that possibly could develop over the next few years but right now I would say they're leaning towards a big time renovation to their current Stadium but we will have to see how this develops over the summer again last summer it was announced maybe they're looking at a new stadium there were a few rumors nothing really came of it we know how these situations happen it's the same thing with the Panthers they're kind of oh there's a little Whispers maybe they'll get a new stadium and then eventually some stuff comes out about either a renovation or a new stadium so either way it'll be something to watch and really all of these AFC North Stadium situations are going to be stuff we're watching outside of the Ravens because the Ravens their smaller renovation is already in place another thing to mention about the Steelers Stadium they did get an Endzone renovation around the year 2015 originally if you guys remember the open End Zone The End Zone where it's extremely hard to kick field goals in they had barely any seating behind there maybe like eight rows it was really dinky and they did renovate that but that was about eight years ago so at this point it's not surprising based on the stadium the lack of cost when it was originally built being extremely cheap a renovation and really a revitalization is going to be in order for the stadium but that is going to do it for this video make sure you follow me on
