things keep getting more and more interesting for Starfield we have big news to talk lots of new features and changes added in the recent update finally the long awaited release of the Starfield creation kit that allows modders to truly mod the game also the introduction of Creations in other words paid mods and the first notable creation kit-based Community mods let's go Starfield newest update to the game version 11230 that dropped on the 9th of June and also its hot fakes 11232 that was released sometime later once again brings new big features to the table some of them however might have been received with more joy than others let's do this by the book and start with the negative stuff Creations in other words nothing else but the introduction of paid mods but as that did it with the other games Skyrim and Fallout in the past and every time the response of the fan base was very negative to say the least I think apocalyptic would be the better words to describe it and so unfortunately to use a quote by a famous man the definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and again while expecting a different outcome butda did exactly that and needless to say the outcome was as expected Starfield got literally destroyed on Steam once again this is nothing new of course and as a matter of fact many other games have microtransactions built into them nowadays but the introduction of paid mods still hits Bethesda really hard every time they do it simply because of all the free mods we have out there back in the day when we played games like Oblivion and Fallout 3 for example and obviously modded the crap out of them with all kinds of mods for many years the concept of mods was always connected to free user made content so obviously after knowing mods as absolutely free for many years having to pay for them all of a sudden inflicted a deep wound onto the fan base a wound that Bethesda keeps poking open again and again each time they bring back the concept of paid mods especially considering how incomplete and unfinished Starfield was at launch and actually still is now it is no surprise that the fan base is once again not amused and we see reactions like well yeah straight to the point nothing else to add here but not All Is Lost while paid mods are obviously an eyesore they do not directly make the game worth only your bank account so let's take a look at some of the positive things that the last update brought some of the most important changes are that the Starfield script extender is no longer needed you can just run the game directly through the original Starfield launcher and all the mods will still work same goes for the plugins text enabler that we need needed before to load esm based mods both those utilities are now Obsolete and no longer needed as for the additions to the actual game one big new addition to the story line was added an expansion to The Trackers Alliance the new quest line can be started by talking to a Tracker that will randomly appear in big cities The Trackers Alliance has been following your exploits and believe you have what it takes to join our ranks the tracker agent will then take you to to their headquarters in Aila City where you will be given the chance to join the alliance and try out being a bounty hunter however there is a little catch there are only two new missions for the tracker Airline so far and while the first one is free part of the update to get the second one you have to buy it in Creations no and this is exactly how it came to this it is nice that Bethesda adds new quests but the way they do it it can hardly be seen at anything else but trying to bait us to spend more money on the game unfortunately it looks like they actually plan to keep going in this direction at least with the tracker Alliance quest line are periodically planning on adding new trackers Alliance missions via the Creations platform there should be a new Mission there right now and that is exactly what really makes me worry about the future of starfields because before we know it it's may come to something like here is our promised vehicle update you can now use vehicles in the game and you get this feature absolutely free you have to buy gas in creations with real money Lo son of a Bethesda basically literally commits seku with this business plan so they should really not be surprised about the reaction of the fan base anyway another feature that they added goes hand in hand with the Bounty Hunter business basically your scanner is now useful in cities too as you can scan people and identify wanted criminals you can then try to bring them in using different kinds of approach either by force or by trying to reason with them another feature also introduced by this update gives you the option to craft ammunitions this is actually a very welcome addition to the game as it has proven to be really wanted by the community and there were also mods for that mods that received a lot of Praise also so it is definitely appreciated that Bethesda picks up on that concept and adds this feature officially now the next feature is more an expansion to melee combat CLA combat weapons now have different tiers in other words as you progress through the game you will find more and more powerful variations of the same weapons you will of course also be able to improve those weapons at the weapon workbenches that is basically made to balance the melee weapons more and that way allow you to keep using melee builds without them feeling underpowered or inferior to guns as you progress further and further through the game and level up well this is actually already it to the new gameplay editions so now let's take a closer look at the creation kit and how exactly it is different from Creations mentioned earlier because seriously in bethesda's presentation they keep referring to community mods and creations with the same word namely creations and who can make creations anybody can make Creations they can build them in creation kit and upload them to the creation platform it's one of the things we absolutely love seeing people go from a hobbyist to a professional yes everybody can hop onto the creation kit which is a free program available to download for everyone and literally the same tool the developers used to make Starfield so everybody can make mods with it however you are either a modder who makes mods and uploads them for example to the Nexus where everybody can download them for free or you are one of the so-called verified creators people employed by Bethesda who also make mods but then give them to Bethesda so that they can sell them as Creations for real money so in other words mods Good Creations pays mods bad Bethesda however obviously tries to push the whole Creations thing as hard as they can the environment where we are working in is so inspiring everyone is so talented everyone is so talented you say yeah looks like the so-called verified creators also decided to work part-time as verified Bethesda shells I mean they are trying to secure their jobs it makes sense this is also why a big part of the new features presentation includes the verified creators talking with great enthusiasm about Creations which sound like some random generic mods we always knew as free i' say we probably say what whenever we put out it's going to enhance something that's already there it's going to build upon something it's going to make it better it's going to hopefully make it more fun yes it all sounds very exciting and it is true that the possibilities are almost endless considering we have a whole universe as our playground but it's hard to buy into this cash grab concept where we have to pay the same amount of money for a handful of mods as you normally would for a whole game especially since those Creations usually tends to be absolutely infurious to the mods you can get on Nexus and Co where you also have the option to donate to moders anyway and without giving half of it to Bethesda in the process I like money so in other words let's not dwell on those BS Shenanigans any longer and check out what the free moders have cooked up with the creation kits already improved follower behavior for example is a nice Quality of Life mod that improves the way your followers behave significantly for example Temple followers will no longer lag behind get Stu or engage in pointless sandbox activities when you are already far away instead they will try to keep the distance to you at around 2 to 5 m and if they should still fall behind somehow they will get a slight speed boost until they catch up to you they will also no longer engage enemies if you currently are in sneaking mode they will only open fire at enemies if the stealth meter goes to danger and are detected which makes much more sense and will allow you to actually use this sneak function properly or for example if a companion decides that it's once again time to talk you can do this extremely immersively by sitting down your companion will then also look for a nearby chair and then you can talk the talk comfortably another mod that is quite famous right now is NPC syn walk speed it deals with a simple but very annoying problem where during some quests you are supposed to walk together with an NPC it's really funny how old Assassin's Creed games for example were able to pull this off immersively and absolutely without any problems but here the NPCs are often too fast and force you to switch between running and walking with this mod it is much better it basically makes your walking speed the same as the fastest NPC it is still kind of hard to pull off with a controller since this mod is designed for keyboard and mouse but it does make a noticeable difference next we are going to take a look at the weapon skin Expansion Project mod series that's right finally new skins in the past we could only get simple retexture mods but now that the CK is finally here we can finally make use of the skin feature that is actually part of the game there are several mods already where you can get new skins for different weapons like the ren weapon skin for example you can also select whether you want the Rin quest line to be completed as a requirement to unlock those new skins or just wants to have them unlocked by default and in the future this mod serus will also be expanded and more cool skins will be added so it is definitely something to keep an eye on in the future and also a mod worth mentioning is p pilot assist bot the first follower mod for Starfield from what I see uh yes sorry I don't speak French actually I do but yeah PAB is a very simple follower you can recruit him and assign him to your ship he will increase your enonic Fusion by one rank Shield systems by two ranks and Starship engineering by four ranks so basically the ultimate ship enhancing tag he will also visibly chill around your ship well he is not really a follower since you can't have him accompany you the trade function seems to work however already the thing is the creation kit just came out so it will take a while till moders figure it's out properly and will be able to make proper followers but it's already an interesting start also if you want more custom companions check out of the author's other mods orb and slug orb is a similar robot as P but for the outposts he will increase the ranks for certain perks there and slug is well uh actually is a practical pet since he does not count as crew and still increases geology botony and Leadership so actually totally worth getting and one more mod that kind of caught my interest was Bar's Outpost recruitment Beacon this is obviously not a brand new idea another one of those features we had in the previous game and Bethesda decided to cut from this one just like we had a beacon to attract settlers to our settlements in Fallout 4 we now can build an antenna to regroup members to our outposts here there is also a nice in-game menu you can access with a usable item that will let you configure certain things like for example how long it will take for colonists to arrive and some other settings from then on it's just time to sit back and wait and soon the colonists will start Gathering there is also an interesting feature where colonists don't just arrive on their own but instead sometimes bring family members with them that's actually a very interesting idea idea colonists can also have random perks to actually be useful to your settlements and not just be decorations because once they arrive they will just idle and sandbox around just like crew members usually do so they do not actively work around the settlements right now the author of this mod however plans to add more features with other mods that go into that direction in the future so it is definitely going to be more interesting messing around with outposts those are just a couple of examples of interesting mods that we are getting now the amount of new mods actually literally exploded since the release of the creation kit as expected of course all in all the mods are still very basic as of now the moders will obviously need some time to get to know this game and its creation kits a bit better however it is definitely interesting to see how far the modding can go and how much we can improve this game in other words this is just the beginning and this this is it for this episode the links to all mods are as always
