hello guys Chris here welcome back to another video in this one more friends I'm gonna be testing the Radeon RX 6700 XT in Starfield the game that came bundled with this exact GPU when I bought it so I hope it runs well this one is the sapphire pulse edition of the card we are running it with the latest AMD drivers and I'm not manually overclocking it you can see all of its specs right here in Tech powerup's GPU Z resizable bar or AMD Sam is enabled and over on the left we're pairing it with a ryzen 7 5800 x3d and 32 gigabytes of RAM this is ddr4 3600 megahertz cl14 Ram let's get into it shall We Alright guys here we are and before we take a look at the settings I want you to try to guess what settings we're playing on remember this is an AMD GPU that came with star field included when I bought it and supposedly from what a lot of people have been telling me it's that the Nvidia cards are completely broken in this game but AMD is running pretty well well guys have you taken a look at the graphics properly this is 1080p 100 resolution scale with the low settings this is low settings at 1080P and fsr2 is enabled but that's just because of the sharpening it it improves image quality by a little bit it's better than native resolution actually because that's really soft as you can see 69 sharpness looks a little bit better alright so as we saw right here it's dropping into the lower 60s already so that means that in more intensive scenarios if I start shooting a lot of people like I'm gonna do in just a little bit um it's gonna get intensive seeing some explosions some particle effects and so on yeah it's gonna drop from 60 at 1080p low settings with a 6700 XT it's not an Nvidia issue guys the game is really freaking intensive it's just it's crazy now it looks good on low settings does it look good enough to justify for performance no but yeah I was really expecting good things coming from the 6700 XT you know look at the noise over there as well darker areas in this game look terrible for some reason look at that ugh and I think it there's some motion blur enabled right I'm pretty sure there is okay I didn't die I didn't die everything is fine ah what a disappointment guys like the 6700 XT is a pretty good card I actually reviewed it recently like a couple of weeks ago at 1440p resolution in every game it ran everything absolutely fine games that looked better than this one ran absolutely fine now low settings preset to be fair sets the resolution scale to 50 percent which is absolutely awful you know it's 540p basically so I'm gonna try it with the default low settings all right it gets close to 100 FPS but it looks so soft it's it's unbelievable okay actually for what it is 540p it it looks decent okay but it's it's too soft I would not play like this unless you have like a 1650 or a 1060 for example example alright also CPU is starting to become a little bit of a bottleneck at this point with around 70 usage yeah you can see GPU usage fluctuating a little bit sometimes not to the point where it matters it's still mostly GPU bound but it's something to keep in mind the 5800x3d is maximum FPS in this game would probably be like 100 110. let's go up to medium settings which still keeps the resolution scale at 50 in fact high setting sets it to 62 percent and Ultra setting sets it to 75 percent like how the heck do you make a preset on Ultra which is maxed out basically aside from the resolution scale and not keep the resolution scale at 100 I just don't understand but let's go back to medium all right I'm gonna disable Dynamic resolution scale here because uh it won't really make a difference anyways it's still well above 60 FPS with 50 resolution scale which terrible yeah I just wanted to take a look at the FPS here using the actual preset but I don't recommend anybody to play with the actual preset remember to change the resolution scale it's very important and the sharpness which is defaulting to 70 percent you want 69 percent there because that will make all of the difference my friends now as you can see on medium settings it is dropping from 60 FPS this 1080p medium on a 6700 XT and it drops from 60. this is so freaking worrisome my friends especially for a game that came with the GPU and there are worse gpus available like the RX 7600 it's way worse than this one or the 6650 XT for example those gpus also come with Starfield bundled in they can't do 60 yes on low settings at 1080p I saw some ad for AMD in this game saying that like the 7900 XT would deliver a legendary experience at 4K with the 7800x3d the 6800 XT would deliver an epic experience at 1440p and then like the 7600 would deliver a great experience or an epic experience as well at 1080p well they won't guys not at all I could play the game absolutely fine with these settings and enjoy it the game looks great on medium settings as well so no problems here the FPS are stable they don't drop too much from 60 frames per second I'm actually gonna start shooting these people here security guards there we go fpsr dropping as you can see with a lot of particle effects so shooting at a lot of people will drop your FPS a little bit like by five I guess and at 1080p low it would also drop from 60. in terms of one percent lows however it is pretty good that's the only reason I'm not about this and I say that this is playable because if it stutters like any other 2023 title it would have been a completely terrible and unplayable experience but since it doesn't stutter and it only drops into like the the low 50s at times the averages are still above 60. it's fine anyways let's go up to high settings preset here I'm gonna disable motion blur I'm gonna set the sharpness to 69 there we go and disable that Dynamic resolution scale keep it at 62 percent and uh well we're getting around the same FPS as we saw at media maybe slightly higher on high but it looks terrible once again using 62 resolution scale it's really soft you just lose all of the detail and you don't want that you know you want to be able to appreciate the amount of detail that they put in the game and now at 62 percent the textures are looking bad or worse at least it's super blurry especially at the distance things are blurry it's shimmering like crazy no I don't know why again they go for such low resolution skills at the presets well I do know why they didn't bother to optimize it's better uh right so 100 resolution scale gets is like 10 less FPS than what we were seeing previously which is I don't think this has the range to to hit those people there yeah freaking pistol this BS all right let's go also I need to start looting all of these people for bullets we got a ton of them with the pistol though but I don't have any more bullets on my SMG all right a little historian right there what the hell do you want buddy oh actually let's go inside of here I have never been to this place before hello citizens are attacking me stop it stop it stop it no no no I'm almost dying I'm almost dying like 30 HP right now dropping into the high 40s at times and mind you I have played the game for about like an hour right now I've been to another couple of planets I've been to space as well I've shot down some enemies in space and this is the most intensive area that I've come across so far and given that this is like one of the biggest cities in the game I think this is a good Benchmark here right High settings look slightly better than medium so I think I would just stick to medium honestly it's a little bit smoother with those 60 plus FPS on average let's go up to ultra then which sets resolution scale to 75 percent and at 75 resolution scale it's starting to look okay you know definitely a lot better than what we saw previously but it's still very soft and we're getting around this mfps as high at Native just play on medium in Native I think that's the way to go let's bump it up to 100 disable the dynamic stuff and at Native resolution and ultra settings it gets us 40-ish frames per second it's not absolutely awful once again it can do 30 plus all of the time like this for sure um but do you want this I I wouldn't want this so there's that it will probably drop into the 30s in more intensive areas also guys at the higher resolutions like 1440p I think FSR will come in handy it's just that at 1080p it looks pretty bad unless it's like 80 I'm gonna try it at 80 in just a little bit here we are 42 FPS minimum so far I guess now let's try it at 80 resolution scale using motion blur turned off and everything else is still the same and we gained like 5 frames per second not even that oh boy and at 80 it starts looking very similar to Native resolution by the way I like the look of it I would probably use 80 resolution scale like medium settings to achieve 60 plus 100 of the time but uh you do lose a little bit of sharpness not gonna lie if you prefer the sharpness native resolution is the way to go with FSR enabled thing is native resolution without FSR enable is actually softer than what we're seeing right now lastly I'm gonna go down to medium once again set this to 80 percent because I told you this is probably the best way to play this game with this GPU and this way it should stay above 60. I thought it was going to be a little bit better than this let's just stand on top of this thing and take a look back at the gardens 64. that's not too different from what we saw at low settings so I guess we get around the same FPS as low here on medium at 80 resolution scale which means that it will still drop into the 50s in really intensive areas well I'm gonna switch to 1440p next be back soon alright here we go guys 2560 by 1440 is now applied render resolution is at 100 and we are playing at the low settings now with sharpening set to 69 under fsr2 and well at least we didn't lose a ton of performance compared to 1080p res and it looks way more detailed at 1440p at the same time still it's not enough for 60 plus on average even oh my God that is freaking awful look at this dropping into 40s okay never mind it actually does drop quite a bit compared to 1080p low oh my God where is the optimization I went well optimized titles that look great again please Rockstar come out with something already stop it stop it stop it so you really want to die goodbye sir your armor won't save you what the hell was that without why did I just pick up I don't know okay so the experience feels okay if you disable the FPS counter you can notice for sure that it's not 60 FPS but I don't think it's a terrible experience it's just not epic whatsoever it's not an epic experience guys hey Diamond I'm not under arrest I'm gonna kill you all if you keep coming especially one by one you know yeah get out get out thank you I got a Rover as well Vasco is here to help us oh finally we got some grass over here pretty sure like Far Cry 3's grass looks better than this one but again this is on low settings but maybe Far Cry 3 on low looks better than this one on the grass side of things let's not let's not blame the graphics too much okay let's well we need to Graphics should be reflected on the performance we get right okay back with a little bit more action guys just loaded the previous game with people shooting at us start counting our FPS we're getting 40s and yeah you know it's starting to feel a little bit more clunky for sure I prefer the 60 FPS or a 50 something FPS experience not to say that it is unplayable again I think the game is playable with 30 plus FPS all of the time it's just a question of how enjoyable it is and with 60fps this would have been a blast with 50 something FPS average it's not really that much of a blast we got the option of enabling some FSR here at 80 which looks pretty good and especially at 1440p resolution you should probably use this Dynamic resolution was also on I don't think this is working I have played around with this setting and I didn't really see any difference whatsoever in terms of graphical Fidelity as well as FPS so there's that start counting our FPS it seems like we gained about 10 frames per second and it looks very similar at 1440p again it's a little bit softer but it's not terrible even at 1080p it wasn't terrible but it was definitely a bit softer than this also for the first mission of the game you might think that this is really well optimized it fooled me as well but it's just because it's in an enclosed area like a mine and uh yeah after you get out of there you see that the FPS are pretty bad anyway it gets closer to 60 FPS right now if you have a freesync monitor which you probably do with a card like this it's gonna feel okay no tearing and stuff yeah I could see a lot of people enjoying the game like that so let's go up to high settings let's try it out with the 62 resolution scale first yeah it's not looking terrible at 1440p honestly and it gets around the same FPS as medium with 80 that is resolution interestingly let's go up to 100 quickly here again you should probably stick to medium settings both in 1080P and 1440p resolutions at 1440p I would use FSR at 1080p probably as well someone needs to do something exactly you should have said that while people were optimizing this game like what have they done for the last 12 months that they were supposedly optimizing this Jesus imagine if they didn't optimize this right let's do ultra with 75 resolution scale once again that's not terrible it's a little bit better than High shut up maybe it's the area where we're at right now I just want to live here I just want to check out the graphics and stuff this is ultra right now with 75 resolution scale which is not that Ultra you know but hey it doesn't look awful at 1440p it gets us 40 something frames per second uh all right all right I could live with this again you can't you just can't get 60 plus FPS in this game which is super unfortunate but at least the ultra settings don't get that much lower FPS than low but it is what it is 100 resolution scale 35 FPS at this point I think it would actually drop from 30 in really intensive scenarios let's just go up here once again which is really intensive come on what there we go yeah 34 it would definitely drop every now and again like if you're close to spaceships coming down with a lot of smoke and fire effects it would definitely dip into the 20s super sad once again let's try it at 4K and see if this is capable of doing anything at that resolution here we go guys 38 40 by 2160 100 resolution scale using low settings and at 4K this is extremely detailed actually but unfortunately the 6700 XT well it's not targeted at 4K gaming anyways but it just can't really do that good of a job it's already in the 30s and low 30s it touched 30 FPS already and it will definitely drop into the 20s as soon as we start shooting some people so at this resolution you need FSR actually you need FSR at every resolution so let's just enable it let's do 80 percent with 69 sharpening once again this looks very similar to Native res at 4K it might actually look a little bit better because now it got rid of the jaggies it replaced those jaggies with softness basically but it doesn't look terrible because of the high resolution of 4K and we get 10 more FPS like this so I I believe it's gonna stay at 30 plus 100 of the time at this point since it's getting 40s here but it's getting like 37 or 38 look in this direction so not bad if you're aiming for that 30 FPS experience locked all of the time like the consoles maybe this is doable let's do medium and let's try it with the 50 resolution scale yeah 50 is way too low even at 4K resolution you can see a lot of softness I don't know what they were thinking when they made the presets with such low resolution skills it's not even enough at 50 to get 60 FPS all of the time that's to be expected because the 50 value means 1080p resolution internally so there's that let's just do like 75 actually 77 is quality FSR so this is very close 40 frames okay yeah it's exactly the same 37 FPS it's within one frame per second of flow with 80 resolution scale so this is definitely the way to go if you're playing at 4K resolution guys what are you doing there how's it going no you just you're just chilling there all right I'll leave you to it actually I'm gonna shoot you in the face oh my eyes whoa all right guys that's been it another very disappointing result here with the 6700 XT but at least it's playable at any given resolution with good looking Graphics so well you can get by thanks very much for watching this video hope you enjoyed don't forget to like And subscribe if you haven't already and I'll be back with another one very soon so stay tuned in for that and as always love you all bye bye
