io2 stairs charm you're gonna need is a pencil a 2 by 12 and some lumber two of them technically framing square circular saw so first you're gonna take your tape you're gonna measure from the top of the landing down to the ground which we've already done we got 35 inches so you take your 35 inches and you divide it by seven point seven five and in this case it comes to 4.5 and then since it's a half number you want to round it up to five because you don't want to not have enough stairs okay so the number here your five that's how many stairs you're gonna use so then you take your 35 which is your total rise and you divide it again by your number of stairs and this time you're gonna get 7 and the 7 is the the rise on each step so then you go back and since we're using it to buy 12 you're gonna take the thickness of the tread which is this here like this here it's one and a half inches and if you have a one inch overhang on your stairs which is a little piece that hangs over the edge when you step up is you're gonna take that off and you're gonna you're gonna put the little side and your left hand in the big side your right hand and how you wanna do it is you got your seven here from we just did the math at your eyes and then you take since this is a 2 by 12 it's actually one and a half by 11 a quarter and since you have the one that you ever hang you got to subtract the 1 inch overhang so from the 11 and a quarter so you're gonna hold it at 7 and 10 and a quarter and you start from the I'm gonna put the seven up the top here in the corner and then you hold it at ten the quarter then you take this one you're gonna transfer it all the way back and then don't forget to go back and subtract the to the truck since this is a two by twelve the thickness of the tread is technically one and a third one and a half so you want us to take off half the thickness of the tread which is the size of this here in this case which is three quarters so you just line that up so we did that because when you hold it up inning got to mention that you may also need a hand tool to help cut out actually pieces of wood that we're not able to be cut out by the circular saw as you can see here this would be finished product depending on topology stairs you would want you cut out more of these most likely two of these
