Sprinter Spaghetti in Our Van

do [Music] as you can see we are approaching sandbar lake provincial park uh we slept in winnipeg last night at my aunt and uncle's house then we left probably around 12 noon we want to get to thunder bay tomorrow there's the sandbar lake entrance sign because we want to do a food review for you guys tomorrow at the persian man so many of you guys from thunder bay or people love the travel always stop in thunder bay for a persian which is like a cinnamon bun kind of thing with pink icing all right so we uh planned ahead and oh it is open nice so it's gonna go in there quickly and uh get our permit for the night so this place uh has campsites with electricity 43 dollars a night campsite without is only 38 additional vehicle day use we're actually trying to find out what we should uh classify our vehicle as uh is it an rv is it a single car i don't know more merch first aid stuff coils mosquitoes are all do you need any dead or anything um i'm going to venture to have a fire if you'd like t-shirts sweaters hoodies [Music] [Music] that's the one i picked so we're close to the washers oh well that don't work that don't work though where's the ones that work then down here oh god that's on the farm i know we got one on the band so that's just just down the road they follow over there okay thanks so much yeah pretty easy campground thank you very much have a good night i had to buy a certain rain because we have nicknamed the sprinter van moose and we do have a small moose in there but i think we need a bigger moose for the dashboard oh yeah where are you gonna go buddy we're gonna have to like give that a little bit of a dusting right there and then we can put them up there and give them the honors oh i'm sorry you fell over the little guy fell over [Music] [Laughter] mommy and baby moose so there we go moose is in the house that is going to be his spot from now on let us know what you guys think of naming the sprinter moose moose news okay got me in well that way it's not very big it's pretty easy on this one yeah it's not it's not a huge campsite so again when we pull in we'll have to see which way the ground slants hopefully it's nice and level like that one that would be good nice airstream buddy this big rv trailer with a boat what number we're trying to get to 25. oh there's another sprinter over there oh we got a grassy area i guess we should pull in face work first right whatever way you want me so unfortunately guys it's raining but uh and if we part like right maybe kind of get a feel gotta get like a level and have it like mounted here i've seen trailers have the level on them i think that feels more level right there so one of these has to go on the dashboard and the other one there's already put this on the post there you go it's raining harder [Applause] [Music] they gave us a warning that this is bear country so don't leave any food out and keep your eye peeled hi come on let's go let's go check the water so last night we had dinner at my aunt uncles and my cousin christine her husband and kids came over all had dinner together and uh they told us uh john my cousin's husband he's like oh you gotta you gotta have the the goog and i'm like what's the goog and he said there's a ice cream place that has been around since like 1960 something and it's called the bdi so it was the bridge drive in and it was at the end of a single lane road that they turned into just a pedestrian bridge and uh so we went to go do that today to make a really cool video for you guys uh a thing called the upside what is it the upside down yeah it's a milkshake milkshake but a blueberry milkshake [Music] duck it is very windy sorry about the wind guys do you think i'm so glad they put that sign there yeah you can launch your own boat but the dock is definitely i do not walk on wow it's a very big lake not huge but it's definitely a good-sized lake we got this little platform here sit at oh yeah there's a swimming beach over there nobody it's obviously there today dogs have to be on the leash there were a couple ducks over there i think yeah that one dock flew away but those could be loons and i believe you're correct there's a little hike trailhead there yeah and then uh we have some washrooms over here and i think these ones actually might be even closer to us um but this is a fish cleaning hut let's just take a quick peek see how cool it is uh this is nice the one that the boys and i checked out any fish cuts nobody went fishing today yeah right i guess if you wanted to compare some fish sizes and again no fish guts in there good definitely smells like those fish guts in there and then you can hose off everything when you're done garbage only i'm not sure what would be in there maybe maybe knives for the people that work here i don't know they got some paper towels towelettes got some lights if you're coming in here at dark ah it's on a timer that's cool and i can turn it back off nice it does stink for blueberry flowers you think these are called that's what they think they're called they look like a blueberry if you know what those are people leave a comment in the comment section below carol said let's do this little trail but i don't have the right gear on i thought we're just to go for a walk along the road and it's like a big puddle that's too muddy for you too even with boots on you're paying the butt to clean that off had some more walking around then we found a dry trail that leads to the lake carol's just ahead of me there walking back towards a very very windy lake so well not much of a shoreline you just had to peek your head through and then that would be it yeah like maybe from up high i don't see where they were ripped down from if that tree looks right like that there doesn't look like a top on it so when snapped it off look how tiny those mushrooms are finger tiny tiny it's like you can have like a little ecosystem in there little trolls there's there's moose the camper van is spaghetti time i hit hooked up the buddy heater uh just for a couple of minutes just to get the uh the kind of cold out of here now let's shut it off and i do have the uh the vent open to vent out any fumes that that may cause got the smoke detector right there so we're safe uh and it's just right beside it nothing needs to be not to worry about anything beside it just right above it and of course right in front of it and maybe after these little sides but like i said we're going to shut it off in just a minute so what did we get today we got a new pot that has a flat bottom because all of my camping stuff they are so old that the bottom is warped and it doesn't work right it doesn't touch fully it doesn't have the full connection which this oven need their stove top needs induction stove conduction so now we're going to just put that on there look at it's flat it's not sliding off we attached the magnets with it and on the instructions itself when we bought it yeah it said that it's uh induction compatible so you got that going got that going so you just turn it yeah it does a 10 minute timer oh okay all by itself for boil so we'll see if that amount of water will boil in time explain oh yeah we're having spaghetti all right i just cut it up while i broke it in half at home because it's easier it just was so big and so no twirling today really well not too much pasta sauce lift it up and show me oh wow people want to know what kind of pasta sauce that we chose president's choice sweet sweet well we're waiting for that to boil let's open this up see what's inside we got some food and some drinks and they're down at the back right there we go put our latches back on remember that dent that was there i put my or our logo right there and it covered up the dent from the shipping i think the dent was right there but you can't see it anymore which is great so this is being powered by this jockery and we're at 33 percent uh this jackery is going to be like the permanent fixture to this thing because it's been lasting many many days and keeping all of our food nice and cold and of course we've got the blue eddy over here which is powering our stove and then we have the other big jackery over here and carol uses that for the electric blanket keeps us warm at night sure does don't lose the beer don't lose the beer people cheers cheers to living out of a van for a few days or i guess a couple weeks now and carol's getting those big slices of bread out oh yeah i forgot the serrated that's all great it's working so like i said we've turned that off but it is still pretty cool in here and our butter is rock hard uh because it's so cold in here so we're gonna melt it in the pan and then get each piece of bread like a sponge put it in the pan get it all nice and uh buttery and then we'll do it to all of them get it all out of here carol's getting our dessert ready strawberries strawberries you can oh yeah that's that's ready to go honey okay there we go it's boiling nicely and i'm thinking ahead so we are going to have to wash some dishes for sure so i'm going to put this in here because careful and i've already put some cold water in there right okay that should be good for the pasta joe and i are already discussing the fact that we can't wait to have our kitchenette here so we don't have to bend down to get uh this is like tap water and that's our drinking water and it'll be nice to have a better system obviously in place but until then it's adventure time yeah all right so we're putting the pasta in there you know what i think that's a little bit too much water whatever one handful for you one handful for me and another one a couple acts are adjusting just in case and the one thing this induction stove doesn't do is like i think you can boil two pots of water at the same time correct yeah you can only have on like it only puts out so many water yeah 1800 so combined you're going to have this boiling this isn't going to provide you the with the rest of the power that you need well we've turned this down no well you have it on 10. well it is on boil right so it's at maximum power this is at 50 power and look at the butter it's already melting nicely do you think we're on a tilt we're definitely on a tilt i didn't say when we're outside looking at the back of the van i said it's definitely crooked so we're thinking about maybe putting uh a couple of those levels maybe one on the front dashboard and one on the door or something so when i'm pulling into a spot i can see if we're locked right crooked or whatever but if you guys are rvers let me know i don't want to get into all the jacks and all that stuff because that's not what we're aiming to do we just want to be able to maybe just adjust it by backing up and moving forward all right good super job yeah too much well maybe yeah that was like that was okay that's good yeah it's good it's going to absorb it all it's boiling over no no no we don't want boilers what's that trick where you can hang like a asparagus or something on the side or lemon i don't know so you put something like some type of a food or fruit or vegetable on the side and when the boil water touches it it stops it from overflowing let us know in the comments below what that is they sell little gadgets that you can put on like what is cooking in the moose i'm gonna wrap these in some foil like my extra table here extra cable this is our bed so i'll keep it kind of warm for a bit yeah and then we're going to toast it or that's it that's it [Music] i think this might be really eh eight minutes give it a shot of course killer i know they're maybe they taste like uh potion stamps yes okay then that means they need to be cooked we don't want the al dente oh there's a couple of little pink spots still so it's almost done carol gave me permission to put some garlic in the turkey just a little bit of seasoning himalayan rock salt grind it give it a quick stir best canned spaghetti ever why because it was cooked in mousse well some of the meat is coming out because right we're saving it the handle didn't heat up as much as you know but the other day when i was cooking something it did get hot yeah for a couple of oh okay i was wondering if you were going to you could say hey ken how about you help me out a bit there you go look at that perfect no help from the husband no oh oh no did it get yeah yep wow how did it splash you put it right in there too i really know that's his craziness okay so we're gonna mix it all together or just the meat meat and the pasta is that okay yeah let's just do it this is camping at its finest look at that all the meat all the pasta all those spices this carol reminded me not to put uh tomato sauce or tomato anything inside one of these cast irons because you have to re-season the whole thing and we don't have an oven too you know you can do it over um like an open flame thing which we have yeah i brought my butane stove i think we need a bit more sauce yeah that looks amazing i like lots of stuff it's a saucy meal oh that looks too much i hope you're hungry when we were shopping earlier i was thinking i'm gonna grab some mozzarella but so we are ready for plating just about almost you just need that to warm up a bit more more heat yeah and then what you do is you get a little bit of water and you put it into the pot all right so it doesn't just to rinse off that stuff and we have a special chain meal oh yeah that was cool yeah you got that from lee valley valley look at this thing that is great it's a chain meal scrubber and we had scrambled eggs earlier on and it worked amazing and you just scrub it around the egg stuck yeah unfortunately because we didn't have enough butter in it and it rips everything off yeah that's warmed up nicely we can turn that off so yeah that just gets it all lovely and it doesn't take away the it doesn't take away the seasoning chain now get yours today it's plating time sure sure bowling we'll call it we'll call it bowling time bowling time camp bowling time okay i just love these bowls they're so cute they are very nice you just put the ball in yeah yummy yeah at least two scoops this definitely has scoops of raisins i'm thinking the same thing yeah all done carol did a great job that your napkin was there you got it got it um teamwork you know teamwork i don't have the steering wheel in the right direction so i can't use my ceiling tray but uh i'm gonna use a fork for a little bit and then we'll try carol's a twirler i'm a twirler it's full spaghetti it's still twirled you can still twirl nice cheers [Music] the um the sausage bar is amazing thanks yeah we haven't had spaghetti at home in so one at the top thanks i don't know how the next amazing one after that okay let's roll it back up and keep it a little bit more oh no oh we got a napkin good i'm like oh i didn't bring the paper towel up and it is it is definitely buttery and cheers mmm smell great oh yeah can you say carbs yes i am bread and pasta oh my goodness we'll have to go for a nice big walk tomorrow yeah double carb well we went for a nice walk when we got here i look forward to possibly having some type of a dinette thing um again we're not sure if we're gonna put swivel seats in here and we'll be able to turn them around and then have a lagoon table so that we can eat together but this is a little bit you got to do what you got to do like we've been saying all along it might be another month it might be another year something fell over by the time this is all finished but you guys can come along for the ride the adventure i can't stop eating this problem one more big bite for everybody then we'll polish it off and then we'll get a dessert oh yeah i cut up some strawberries for dessert can you see the steam still if i put a light behind it you see the steam that's how cold it is it's not actually that bad when he says spaghetti for dennis and i was just thinking might be uh really difficult to put it all together in our unfinished van but it worked out so congratulations carol good job thanks time for some lovely dessert carol cut up yummy strawberries fresh strawberries i'm not sure what they said they came from but um the u.s somewhere [Music] they're not good yeah because you can still see there's white in the middle but but i don't care so how do you tell if it's better than this what's what's that what's the visual it should be not as white in the middle like it should be more oh look at that one more like reddish pink in the middle yeah it has lots of white in the middle then it's not as fresh well no it's not as ripe oh right after the strawberries and i eat one of my favorite chocolate bars i'm not sure if that's overexposed or not it's called camino camino and that's fair trade organic salted caramel crunch 55 cocoa dark chocolate let me know in the comments below if you love your dark chocolate like i do especially when it's salted and caramel little chunks in it and uh i bought two of these to bring for the for the bike ride forgot about this one in the van i brought one in with me to share with andrew on one of our evenings after the bike ride and uh after our dinner and we enjoyed that it was gone really really fast beautiful piece of chocolate beautiful piece of strawberry chocolate strawberries um pieces of caramel stick to your teeth and then you got that hint of like chunks of salt um the flavor [Applause] i like when i used to eat chocolate i used to take a small piece put it in my mouth and i would let it melt but your chocolate is very hard and cold cool sticky anyway guys carol and i are going to um do all the dishes up go for one more walk yep and uh put everything away tidy up it's always best to tidy up as soon as you make a mess tomorrow we're heading out to kaka becca falls we'll make lunch and then we'll head into um thunder bay and uh do that dessert and then i'm looking forward to that donut because i love donuts yeah and then tomorrow night we'll be in uh lake superior national park provincial park sorry lake superior provincial park and what's the park called it's is it something it's it's on lake superior right but the like lake superior provincial park is really big they have multiple smaller parts yeah so they have smaller campgrounds it's called rabbit something yeah rabbit blanket rabbit blanket so look for interesting name hopefully there will be some sort of a plaque or something to do we'll find out
