Spin the Bottle TBR - March!!🍾

hello my bookworms welcome or welcome back to my channel my name is sydney and today's video is my spin the bottle game for march [Music] if this is the first spin the bottle video that you are landing upon i will leave the link to the playlist of my very first video doing this spin the bottle tbr game in that video i go over a tour of the board itself give you a little idea of what each space means and what to expect from this game which is chaos and i do want to chat about an addition that we made to the board this month last month in particular i was getting some comments saying like no the bottle definitely landed on yellow or whatever when like it did it i didn't think that i would have to explain it but prior to this video the last two videos i didn't have the bottle fixed in the center so when i would spin the bottle and it would go off center i would let it spin until it stopped and then i would statically move it from that point back to the middle you know to see where the point was actually pointing and apparently some people didn't like that they thought that i should have kept the bottle like way over on the edge of the board and gone with what the bottle was pointing at over here i don't know i didn't think that it was a big thing but apparently it was a thing so this month caleb and i stayed up super late last night and we've been actually pretty stressed about it all month we were trying to figure out the best way possible to keep the bottle in the middle of the board so that the spins were no longer up to interpretation we took an extra wine bottle and we tried sawing a hole into it and then putting like a peg through the board to see if like spinning around that would work and obviously that didn't work and then we thought about using like a skateboard bearing to glue in the wine bottle itself and then like putting a screw into it and then having the bottle spin around that it was a whole thing but we ended up doing magnets so we bore out a little hole in the middle of the board stacked three magnets in there and then caleb expertly glued a magnet inside the bottle so that the magnets in the board and then in the bottle would stick together and then it would spin around that axis and it was a headache the tensions were high but we did it it ended up working and i am so excited but with all that out of the way today i have darien from darian reads on standby just in case that i land on a phone a friend space and just like always i plan on doing five spins so let's get right on into them [Music] okay so the first space that i landed on was a mystery space and i really love getting this space however it was the third time that i've landed on it so as you can see i have to add another spin at the end of the spins so now i will be reading at least six books this month and if you remember how many books i had to read last month it didn't happen but here we are still playing by the same rules so for this space last month i landed on i actually finished that book today and the book that i'm picking for this month's mystery space will be in the same vlog that i'm doing this last one for so that vlog won't come out for a couple more weeks at least because i have some other books to read for it if you want an idea of what that vlog's going to be like it's going to be similar to a new series that i started on my channel last month it'll be the next installment to that series so um you're just gonna have to wait and find out [Music] ah [Music] [Applause] [Music] the next space that we landed on had a prompt and it was read a book what was it with a random page range so for this one i'm going to go on to a random number generator and i'm going to be kind to myself i'm going to do 1 to 500. no you know what i'm gonna message darian and have her give me a random range of numbers hold on she's typing the page range that darian chose is one through 69. so let me screen record and get rid of this 500 because i guess we're reading a short book for this prompt which i'm not mad about but okay so generate 62. the book has to be within what should i say like 10 pages i think that's fair within 10 pages of 62 pages damn it darian i'm gonna go see if one of my graphic novels works because i get like all the books that i want to read are definitely over a hundred pages so let me go see i'll be right back yeah that's not gonna work because even my graphic novels and my poetry collections are all above 100 pages so i'm asking darian for a different range of numbers darien okay so the new range of numbers is 69 to 420 so what's up let me screen record and then we will pick another book 408 okay it's definitely on the bigger side now so but okay let me think about this okay so the number's 408 and i could be within 10 pages of that so i think i'm gonna be nice to myself because i don't know what else is gonna happen the rest of this video cause i could use this book later i'm just gonna get this book in here early so for this random page number prompt from darien it was 408 and this book is 4 18. so it's literally exactly 10 pages more than 408 and this is crown of midnight by sarah j maas and i'm like actually super stoked i'm a co-host for the throne of grace grass oh my god i am a co-host for the throne of glass read-along called the togalong and it is hosted by me molly and jody and this next month we are reading crown of midnight so i'm really excited about it i never thought that i would like this series but i am like itching to continue i am so intrigued by this i don't know what's happening but i am loving it [Music] okay spin number three got me a green space which was also the third time that i've landed on it so i'm adding another spin so i'll be reading seven books this month but regardless the prompt that i got was read a new release and one of my most anticipated releases actually made it to my doorstep this week so obviously i'm gonna pick that one and that is honey girl by morgan rogers and i am so excited to read this this book is all about our main character grace who finishes her phd in astronomy and decides to celebrate on an all-girls vegas trip she's not normally the type of person that would drunkenly marry a random girl that she meets but she does exactly that and now grace is struggling under the weight of her parents expectations so she flees portland to live in new york city with her new wife that she barely knows while she's in new york she's able to kind of ignore all the constant questions of so what are you gonna do with your life while also falling hard for her new wife yuki but when reality comes crashing in grace must face what she's been running from all along the fears that make us human and the need for connection especially when navigating the messiness of adulthood i think this sounds absolutely fantastic i'm so excited that i'm getting it on my tbr as early as i am since it just came out and yeah [Music] oh my god this is the first time we've landed on this space are you excited because i am okay so this is the tarot space and how this space is gonna work is i have taken out all of the major arcana of my tarot card deck and i have predetermined i've gone through all of these cards already in preparation for landing on this space so i have predetermined prompts for each one of these cards and i'm so excited to actually use them a lot of times tarot cards are up to interpretation so if my interpretation doesn't exactly align with how you would interpret the card or how you've heard it interpreted that's totally fine there are over 20 cards in the major arcana so i had to come up with over 20 original ideas or prompts so just like i don't know bear with me you know so yeah the normal spreads that i do i normally do like four i'll mix them up and then i'll do four different cards and then i will pick the one that resonates most with me and then that will be the prompt and card that i have to go off of okay so let's do a little tarot drawing who am i what am i doing [Music] okay so i ended up picking the hermit for my tarot card pull and the predetermined prompt for this card is read an escapist read this card means taking time and space away from everyday life being isolated from our world as we know it so i interpreted this as being self-aware and knowing that you need to take the time and space away from everyday life and just you know escape and enjoy what you're doing and the little sub thing of it saying being isolated from our world so i wanted to kind of tie in like a fantasy aspect to it so the book that i want to read for this prompt actually works out really well and i know that it would be an escapist read for me regardless and that is king of scars by leigh bardugo this book is set in the grishaverse and the grisha verse is like my home if i were to pick any fictional world to escape into it would be the grishaverse and the sequel to this book comes out in march so this is literally the perfect time for this card to get pulled it's like it knew but yes so king of scars follows the grisha trilogy and in it we are following nikolai who is the king of scars another viewpoint that we follow in this is zoya who was also in the grisha trilogy and also up for a little bit in the six of crows duology as well as nina so i am so excited to get into this book i don't know too too much about the plot itself because it being set in the grishaverse is enough for me to be intrigued and since it's kind of like a new series within this world i almost kind of want to go into it a little bit blind like i know the characters that we will be following so i'm excited to see how they are written together and how their storylines are going to be intertwined into this new plot so yeah i'm really excited [Music] okay spin five oh spin five i got read a book by an author that you want to read more from and this one's easy i've been wanting to read this book particularly by this author for a while now and that is the death of vivec ogee by a quick amezi and a hundred percent every time that i try to explain this book i feel like i don't do it justice so a couple like catch phrases of it is what does it mean for a family to lose a child they never really knew the death of evac ogi is a novel of family friendship and the self that challenges expectations a dramatic story of loss and transcendence that will move every reader and i 100 percent believe that because the way that a koike messi writes is just so vivid and beautiful that i will read anything that they write hence why i'm picking this and hence why i want to read more from them so yes very excited to be finally putting this on my tbr and we can move on to the next [Music] another mystery prompt and again i'm going to take it and keep it a secret from you guys because if i read the two mystery prompts that i've gotten in this video then i will have that secret video done so it'll just be a whole video of secret prompt books but with a theme like a theme other than my secret prompt books so yeah it's a secret i can't tell you bye i knew it am i gonna have a tbr video without a challenge prompt doesn't look like it and just just for the record these magnets they're working really well they're amazing actually i'm really proud of it thanks to caleb because he pulled the weight of the team for sure his back probably hurts but okay um i have to think about what challenge i want to do hmm i think i know hold on this is what we're gonna do okay for this challenge prompt we're going to go to my backyard i have this like makeshift table that caleb made out of scrap wood that has been very weathered by the passing years and what we're going to do is set up books standing on the table and then we are going to take cal columns take caleb's hockey stick and a tennis ball and i'm gonna have to like knock down the one that i want so the challenge is like you know accuracy with a hockey stick which i don't really have it's like the one sport that i didn't play growing up and i'm going to have two long books and two short books up there and we're gonna see which one i [Music] hit [Music] so [Music] okay so obviously we got one of the longer books so we'll see how well this goes this month but the one that i knocked down was from blood and ash by jennifer l armentrout and the third book in the series is coming out this year so i guess this isn't a bad time to start it so in hindsight like okay i'm not mad plus i've wanted to read it i mean it's been the hype on booktube for quite some time now and with this book basically we have a maiden whose name is poppy and she lives a life in solitary never to be touched never to be looked upon never to be spoken to and basically she's waiting for her ascension which is to see if she is to be found worthy of the gods and in this time she has a guard named hawk and when he enters her life he makes her question everything she believes in and tempts her with the forbidden so i am excited to read this i know that it's a pretty steamy book so we'll see how it
