foreign to ensure that there are a variety of perspectives in the classroom this is why the sphere Summit exists and what we are lacking is really having civil discuss especially with everything that social media is showing us I think my students are afraid to speak their minds a lot of times for fear of backlash and I think that right now in education there's a lot of shutdown of ideas that maybe somebody disagrees with each Summit equips middle and high school teaching professionals with the ability to diffuse today's environment of partisan tribalism and to bring conversations on the most pressing issues into the classroom it is a place that cherishes rigorous conversation from every point of the political Spectrum I found my own views present in the room I also found myself challenged to engage with views that weren't my own what it's really done is it's brought to life how important civil discourse is and how important it is for people to do the research and hear both sides of the story before they proceed it's a great place to share ideas with colleagues she may not always agree but you know what it doesn't matter because everybody gets along and it's just wonderful sphere teachers represent a wide diversity of subject areas School types and ideological backgrounds but what they have in common is a passion for civil discourse and helping their students be successful in understanding a full range of viewpoints on key policy issues I think the greatest thing I've gotten is being able to have all these resources to have my students look at everything from multiple perspectives in different sides and maybe ways that they wouldn't have thought of looking at it before it's an amazing opportunity it's an amazing program and so I just really recommend anybody any teacher to come here and do it
