hi everyone we're going to talk about how to ask for other people's opinions and how to show your opinion in english when you're having a conversation i'm not going to show you all the ways but i will show you some useful expressions to help you start doing this when you speak in english so imagine someone says oh it's totally possible to learn english online you don't have to go to class you can learn english online like on youtube do you agree if you want to know if someone agrees with that you can just ask do you agree with that do you agree do you agree simply right or you can say what's your opinion about that do you agree what's your opinion about that thing that someone just said sometimes people will not use the word opinion and they will say thoughts thoughts what are your thoughts on that what are your thoughts on that do you agree do you think you can learn english online what are your thoughts i think that's a really common way to say it or you can just say how do you feel about that do you agree how do you feel how do you feel about that and feel doesn't mean your emotions it means your opinion in this case how do you feel about that do you agree can you learn english online do you do you agree or you can say do you have anything to say about that that means what's your opinion tell me what you're thinking so everyone in this class says it's possible to learn english online but you haven't told your opinion do you have anything to say about that or b or just simply what do you think what do you think if you say what do you think it's what is your opinion about that now when someone asks your opinion you want to give your opinion so how do you do that here are some common expressions first off you can just say well in my opinion now let me give you a tip when you are making a statement to express your opinion about something you can use these expressions i'm giving you and you can always turn the action from the statement into an activity gerund so for example do you think you can learn english online i think i can learn english online what is the verb learn learn english online turn that verb into a gerund a gerund is a verb plus ing learning when you turn it into a gerund it becomes a noun and it could be the subject of a sentence like this in my opinion learning english online is possible see how i did that learning english i didn't say in my opinion learn english online as possible i said learning english online as possible and all of these statements i can use a gerund as a subject another way to express your opinion is to say well if you want to know how i feel learning english online is possible if you want to know how i feel and then you say your opinion or you can say if you want to know my honest opinion i think learning english online is possible so you can start when you know people don't really want to hear your opinion because you know everyone disagrees with you you can start it like that if you want to know my opinion if you want to know my honest opinion i think learning english online is possible or you can just say well the way i see it is learning english online is a great way to learn something on your own time the expression is the way i see it is the way i see it is and then the gerund the way i see it is drinking water is the best way to improve your health or a little bit more formal is you can say well as far as i'm concerned and then you use your gerund as far as i'm concerned lying to people is not a good thing or you can just say if you ask me and then the gerund if you ask me drinking water is really good for your health if you ask me learning a language on the internet is completely possible okay those are the expressions that i'm giving you for today for expressing your opinion and asking others for theirs i hope this helps you to confidently express your opinion in english bye
