we love these stories of inspiration especially from our seniors and I have a great one for you today her name is Lucille Ellison she is a hundred and two and this woman has sobriety survived the Spanish flu she has tips for surviving through the Second World War during the time of rations and and fear and nervousness and also the Great Depression so first of all I want to give you a little sense of Lucille so Lucille was born in December 1917 1918 of course the Spanish flu hits her uncle gets it her dad gets it she survives it as a baby as she gets older in her life she meets Floyd the love of her life they were supposed to get married until the attack on Pearl Harbor happened he gets drafted they have to postpone their wedding for over a year and when they finally did get married they had no dishware no tablecloths because those things were still being used by the war effort so she says look I get it four Brides right now who are panicking and who are nervous she said doesn't matter it'll all come together um she also says she sees a lot of parallels between the time now and the Second World War there's uncertainty the news was changing all the time sometimes it felt like things were getting better sometimes then it would feel like things are getting worse this is what she had to say about that time I spent so much time reading the ration book the grocery store shelves were empty it wasn't like now because you were allowed outside but there was the same fear we didn't know what was going to happen tomorrow so you know up till now present-day Lucille is is in a long-term care facility she sees people via video calls she's still offering really great advice to people and she likes to be social as much as she can her son drops off groceries for her but this is her advice to everybody today coping with Kovac Kovac 90 min the lockdown she says to cope with this virus and all that's going on I tell people not to get stressed about planning far ahead you can't do it a long time ago I started making a list every morning of what I had to do it was the only thing I could control and I stuck to it you hear me I mean if we're gonna take advice from anybody take it from this woman you know Spanish flu Second World War Great Depression she's been through all of it and now Kovan 19 and she's still positive and encouraging lights up it's a perspective we probably all need right now yeah absolutely I'm worried thanks for bringing that to us and it's absolutely right to have like a sheet of paper because I've been started to think that way too what can I control and what is my perspective is what what is my outlook in terms of like how far ahead am I looking and I really think it makes a difference if you can just focus on the now which is something that Kelsey's been talking about throughout this whole you know pandemic as well what can I control what can I feel what's real and what's the next 24 hours look like right that's exactly thanks for watching if you liked this be sure to subscribe here and you can check out more your morning videos right here
