what's going on you guys welcome back to the channel if this is your first time stopping in thank you for joining me in today's video I want to start by saying I'm sorry and please forgive me to my wonderful neighbors they support the channel they're great people but in today's video we are installing a full exhaust on my Road Glide we got the box before us here let's dig in [Music] oh my goodness you guys this looks so freaking good this is a full M8 bagger exhaust from SP Concepts they refer to it as their Turnpike we've got stepped headers all hand tagged here in the USA they're based in California which I think is hilarious since California has the strictest uh emissions laws but hey race only right so really really good looking piece all hand taged great coloring great quality control I cannot wait to get this on my bike from what I've seen this exhaust is by far the best looking I love supporting upand cominging brands that are doing such great work so I'm really happy with going this option oh you like that too yeah okay so um I did do my research on a few different options such as you know HPI SII um bani all great options but for me personally I do not like when a tip is riveted on uh I don't like the spring tabs out on the HPI and I don't like a six-month weit um this exhaust just really checked every box for me I'm very particular about how I want things to look I didn't like how the basani pipe dips down and then back up up same with the zi so for me this was a clear winner I cannot wait to slap it on the bike let's jump in now when you see me handling these beautiful works of art I'm wearing gloves that is because they say if you do not if you touch it with your fingertips the oils from your skin when you do a first startup will have fingerprint marks all over them so we're going to go ahead and handle them with gloves and just before installing I will quickly wipe it down with some soap and water that way as it burns for the first time through a heat cycle it doesn't end up looking all sorts of funky right off the rip you do have the O2 sensors where you have both different size options you've got the adapters for your OEM narrow bands and then also right off the bat you've got your wideband size so that's a really cool option as soon as we have some good tuning available I will be using those wideband bungs all right so first thing we're going to want to do is remove these heat shields they're just uh band clamps they are a 516 there's one here one here and one here and one here possibly one back here maybe not anyways I will let you guys know once I get it off then we'll worry about the front one as well and then we'll start worrying about the rest of the exhaust the narrow band O2 sensors and all of that careful with your knuckles next to the heads here it will cut [Music] you all right so I was hoping that there were tabs that once I loosened it I could just slip it left or right off of the tab but as you can see it is like that so you do have to fully undo these uh band clamps [Music] all right so next is this hanger here for the header pipe it is a half inch [Music] now we are looking at metric it's a 17 I want to remove these before we get too much further along with pulling this exhaust it's much easier to open these up when they uh pipes are still attached and the front exhaust is right there also a 17 so now's a good time to go ahead and remove the saddle bags they will need to come off to access the bolts for the muffler that live about right here and here all right so next step is going to be removing these halfin bolts to free the muffler from the head pipe all right so next we're going to be removing the clamp that holds the muffler onto the head pipe and midsection and it is a 15 on this one and then for the cross over pipe it is a [Music] 14 all right so we're working on this 14 now I don't know if I actually need to remove this I'm sure that I could just remove those uh head pipes there and uh pull the other Muffler off the other side and drop it all down but for convenience sake I'm just going to go ahead and remove all of it that way if I do run into any snags since I'm by myself it's nice to kind of have different options to get it [Music] done and and came off pretty easy so both Mufflers are off this crossover pipe is off now we just need to work on getting the uh pipes off the heads there and we're good to go so now we're going to work on getting the headpipe nuts off they are a half in as well the back one looks really easy the front one should be decently simple but looks like it's maybe going to be a little bit of a pain in the butt [Music] and just like that we are out look at that weight savings we got nothing open Heads baby let's go ahead and start putting things back together now I got to wash those again so before we install these we want to go ahead and put the O2 adapter bungs in um there's supplied with the kit and uh we have copper Crush washers for that as well so those just go on like so and thread right in now I'm going to use a tiny tiny bit of Annie Seas on here because I do plan on eventually going with wide bands and a dino tune so these will have to come out and I don't want it to be a [Music] nightmare all right this size for their O2 bung adapters is a 7/8 all right so first thing we're going to want to do is take the old exhaust little uh clamp guy whatever you want to call it and the clip here and we're going to slap this back onto the new pipe all right so that's back on we are ready to go ahead and slip this up and in to its new [Music] home all right same thing with this one we go ahead and throw the clamp on and then the clip good to go it is easiest to go ahead and install the O2 sensor before so we'll do that now go ahead and twist it all up so that it's not spun up while it's installed so as you guys can see so far I've just Loosely hung everything that's the best way to roach it you get the muffler bolted up tight and um from there you can go ahead and uh put your springs on the spring tabs and then tighten up final tighten up the uh headers once you got them where you want them so next thing is slipping on this gorgeous [Music] Muffler so there is our Springs on good to go we're tight here we just have to go ahead and tighten up the header bolts or nuts and I need to still slam that O2 sensor in and we're good to start this thing up my man freaking O2 sensor is a little bit in the way of that all right you guys so we have the head pipes tight we have the O2 sensors in there and tight we have the clamp that went here does not fit with the newer bigger pipe so they give you a nice little rubber piece to slip on that bolt so that looks nice and clean thank you guys for that all of the welds look good everything lines up perfect we have a little bit of adjustability here which is nice forward or backwards I like it tucked more under the bag so I slid mine a little bit further up I'm on we've got the spring tabs on Muffler's tight we are good to throw the bags on and fire this thing up e a [Music] [Music] all right you guys we just got that first startup done man this thing sounds freaking amazing in other videos I've seen some people doing a full exhaust they have issues with the bike starting first time um just because of the different AFR stuff going on with no catalytic converter and all that but the bike took right over cleaned right up no no issues at all I mean so I'm ready to get this thing on the road get some good audio for you guys on that but first really quick I want to look at the insides of the stock exhaust show you guys just how restrictive it really is all right so here we have our stock head pipe and uh you know it doesn't look like it'd be anything too crazy until you go ahead and you look inside at the cat and you see just like any other catalytic converter you've ever experienced it has a ton of the little Honeycombs so that is the Restriction that you're dealing with with your catalytic converter now moving on to our Mufflers obviously pretty restrictive in the you know exit here but we're going to go ahead and point this thing right at the sun we're going to see what we get for light through it I don't know if you guys can make that out but if you see those little four little lines in there that's all you have for a flow going through your muffler because they want to redirect that air through there and through the uh packing of the Mufflers themselves plus obviously they do just want to be nice and quiet for I don't know somebody anyways enough of that let's get the bike pulled out of the shop it's a beautiful day go ahead and get the GoPro mounted up in a few different locations for you guys throughout a ride we're going to go see what we can do [Music] I all right you guys I just drove by the airport near my house and the old guys are throwing one of their epic hot rod meets so I figured I would flip around and swing through really quick give you guys a little peek at what they got going on cuz there's some pretty cool old rigs here I don't know what you guys want to see but [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] all right you guys I hope you enjoyed that quick little stop there it was really cool seeing everybody come together and just enjoy their vehicles in the sun you know these first few weekends of summer or spring or whatever we want to call it here in Washington soon as we get some everybody's happy to get out see each other shine up the rigs and uh man it's just a great [Music] feeling so the audio that you are hearing my microphone is mounted inside my helmet and um in a location where pretty much you can expect you're that's about what you're going to hear if you're running this exhaust in your helmet so um it's not a fullprof method but I want to give you guys the best chance of of hearing what I'm hearing of um giving a clear representation of what you can expect audio Wise from this exhaust in your helmet [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] all right you guys well I've got you in the helmet I figured now's a good time to address something that I know is going to get brought up in the comment section and that is tuning tuning tuning tuning that's all we're hearing right now and I understand why we are currently in a predicament with these new 2024's and that is we've got aftermarket parts becoming available such as the exhaust intakes things of the sort but we still have no aftermarket tuning options the only thing available is a screaming eagle tuner from Harley-Davidson those are canned Tunes they're emissions presentes Tunes so if you've got a catless exhaust That Tune is not written for you and yes it'll run the bike yes it's a little bit healthier for the bike but no it is not dialed for your setup so I personally am not running a tune on my bike currently I did some research the previous generation 117 m8s do not have a lean condition from the factory like some of the twin cams and the earlier Rushmore bikes had so what does that mean for us that means you can run a two into to one exhaust um with your factory mapping would I do it long term no if I thought it was going to be more than a few months I would get the Screaming Eagle tuner and I would Fork out the money for that and and know that I'm not doing long-term damage potentially from the din graphs that I saw of those uh you know Dino runs of those stock bikes from the factory how they ran uh it was only at certain RPMs uh little Peaks and valleys where it was just enough where you're like M I don't really love that but it's not there was never like anything crazy you know extremely lean or anything like that so um short term you should be completely fine to do this um and your factory warranty is still in play because you are not tuned so do with that information what you will I'm just letting you know I'm waiting for wideband fullon you know Standalone ECM options to become available so that I can go ahead and get a Dyno tune done for my bike with the upgrades that I put on it um cuz that's really the the ultimate route uh to go when it comes to tuning so that's that [Music] all right you guys I think I'm going to go ahead and wrap the video up here we've gone over removing the stock exhaust installing the new SP Concepts exhaust what you can expect audio wise off the back of your bike in your helmet what it looks like you know what's the what's the quality and craftsmanship here and I think it's a home run I think SP Concepts knocked it out of the park and I am stoked for them you know congratulations they've got a good product on their hands here and I think it's going to do really well so thank you so much for watching this video please give this video a like comment down below questions concerns if you guys have any idea of when we're going to get some better tuning options available on the market if you got an inside scoop please let me know down below let all of us know down below and consider subscribing cuz now that we've got more air able to come out of the ex exhaust we're going to need to get some more air coming in Via cam tuning who knows what else I want to tear into this thing for you guys for me have some fun with it so please come along for the ride catch you guys in the next one
