ah the Sun is out in baseball's back in Chicagoland the Sox and tigers and guaranteed rain filled grab a snack take in nine innings with us as Carlos rode on takes the Sox out to the field for game number one of a 10 game homestand and he will face this starting 9 brought to you by the web Auto Group for the cats from the Motor City candelario castellana a Castilla knows Cabrera Peterson Rodriguez and Hicks Harrison grinder and Jones your 9 for the Tigers you I help defensive setup for our Sox put out that by Ricky Renteria boy am in is back in the lineup and that's a good sign with Leary and Ryan in the outfield you on Tim Jose and Jose in the infield with James McCann getting the not behind the plate and our Lexus experience amazing starting pitcher is Carlos rode on this is six start he's been throwing very well he's three and two as you can see 35 strikeouts in twenty eight innings that slider has become almost unhittable when he buries it down and into the right hand hitters and the Tigers have a barrel full of right-hand hitters uh prior to the game tonight Cory blazer has the plate Tony Randazzo at first Jeff Nelson the crew chief at second and Laz Diaz at third it's a very pleasant night at the ballpark it's probably going to get a little chillier as we move along but right now ideal baseball weather Carlos is in short sleeves everybody feeling pretty good about the weather here today and the fans expecting a little payback to the Tigers Sox dropping two of three in Detroit look for some home cookin to get things started hey it's our old pal Gordon Beckham back here to Chicago to face his X team this is game number one thousand in his career if he decides to play in it that's up to Ron Gardenhire much more than it is him but he hit the ball hard against the Sox at America fun hit the ball very well and it's made the ball club out of spring training and is making the most of this opportunity all right so the Sox trying to pick up some wins on this homestand got 10 days in a row here at home before a trip to Cleveland and Toronto and it'll be jaemor candelario to open play Tigers are 12 and 12 they're 2 games off Minnesota and Cleveland in a dead heat at the top of the central Sox are 9 and 14 four and a half back as we begin on this Friday night Carlos rode on the old school foot where the stirrups kick it up strike number one off we go on the homestand Ron Gardenhire feeling that Kendall area is not hitting the ball at the ballpark he hasn't had a home run in 88 at-bats at this point and so he's leading him off he was in the middle of the lineup when we saw him in Detroit but swings a little bit better from the left side still has not hit the ball out of the park the Tigers do have an expansive home field however generally they have more power than we've seen a 14 home runs all year for the Tigers that's dead last in Major League Baseball the mariners by contrast have 57 home runs already this year that is 43 more than Gard ease Tigers felt like they hit 14 home runs here in that series as in the dirt strike three there's a tantalising breaking ball Rodan punches out candelario we're on number one it's very rare that a major league pitcher literally has an unhittable pitch but you can see the spin on that slider you almost see a little dot in the back of the ball as he buries it down and in he not only gets quick breaks but he gets something that a lot of pitchers don't have that's deception it looks like a fastball disappears and nobody hits it and as you can see that's what he's gonna throw the change-up negligible at 10% 89% fastball slider the change-up has started to dot the landscape a little bit more recently as he gets more comfortable with the command of it to open the year a breaking ball to Castellanos Carlos though in that last start against the Tigers did throw more sliders more fastballs and he has sliders typically 48 fast balls 27 sliders the percentage was up much more in his prior starts this ball hit wells centerfield Garcia's ago and it's gone Castellanos with his fifth hit against the Sox this year four have gone for extra bases that thigh-high an out over the plate and we've talked about it we saw it a whole lot in Detroit you just can't get away with pitching him down toward home run replay and as you can see that uppercut swing he loves the ball down he always has he always will and if the Sox don't start pitching it up they're gonna have continued problems with this young man who hit it just his second home run of this season I know you talked to Don Cooper about I mean it's it's not in the scouting report for the Sox to pitch him down it's not the intent when you miss a spot though it gets magnified with a guy that has that much power well the first thing you think is throw a breaking ball because he has problems with those he happens to hit low breaking balls in the zone very well ground ball wide a third and foul for Miguel Cabrera who at his 10 game hit streak broken yesterday by the Boston Red Sox Tigers won the first two in that series then lost the next two to end up at 12 and 12 starting play in this series as that ball sprayed the right-field kordell's back at the warning track in the wall and that ball goes ringing around over the yellow line Miguel Cabrera sends one out it's back-to-back dingers for the Tigers here in the first first home run of the year for Miguel Cabrera just a matter of time until the big man started to hit it out of the ballpark and that wind blowing straight out toward right field certainly helped that one afford home run replay we'll check it out again as he goes down and gets it we saw him hit the ball pretty hard in Detroit but he wasn't getting any distance on much of anything and this time he got just enough distance Carlos says really that went out this can plate has a very small ball Karma after a Camden Yards than coming home pitchers just need a breather there is the way I mean you say it was a that got steeped windy day today that's literally what took it out of the ballpark normally it's a flyball to right field no harm no foul but this isn't normal conditions 36 year-old Miguel Cabrera one of the best hitters of his time two balls in one strike on Dustin Peterson who got his first major league hit back on April the 2nd he is 8 for 40 this year [Applause] Peterson came up with the Braves for two at-bats last year he was old for two he struck out once and now making the Tigers to start the year in 2019 he's got that first major league hit three balls and two strikes just missed a slider towards the corner and a walk with one out as we check in with Chuck Gard fine hey Chuck hello Jason it might be a nine inning game but the big hurdle for Carlos were down so far this season has been this first inning he gets through the first in me it's been pretty much smooth sailing from there look at the numbers opponent Bannon yet batting averages against him first-inning 286 coming into today that's gonna go up second inning 222 and then it just starts plummeting 125 in the fourth and the fifth inning if he gets there batters are just 1 for 15 with six strikeouts so a key to success finding it early he has not done that because those two homeruns and this walk first inning is always the toughest inning at just about every starter and we've talked about it pitchers the only guy that does not warm up the place he's going to pitch and so there's an adjustment period for a whole lot of guys and if they stumble a lot of them stumble in the first those are glaring numbers I mean Carlos has been virtually unhittable after the first inning it just takes a whole lot of guys an inning to loosen up to make sure that the breaking ball is sharp to get a feeling or command and that's really never changed in this game to third moncada and Rondon and that's all the Sox will get no DoublePlay Rodriguez hustling down the line to God Peterson out had a chance to beat two but yuan had some problems in if he catches it cleanly it's gonna be a double play but right here that ball came up on him he stayed right with it but it rolled up around his wrist before he could get to throw off they get the force the two out one on and John Hicks the batter plant first base today he's typically the reserved catcher but his flexibility gives him some more opportunities in the lineup as he plays today over at first and Carlos throws to first and it gets away slightly but no movement from Rodriguez he wants a new ball Hey look yeah he went to a he Carlos went to his his mouth and then said then he put his hand on the ball and he said you know what left in the name of in the name of fairness so nobody decides that they want to call me a spit ball or let's go ahead and get a new ball well they allow that these days so he just took a look at the baseball and said okay you know maybe it's the ball so we'll try something else Hicks has had some big hits against our ballclub over the years and it's very difficult to keep your stroke when you don't play every day very difficult to keep your defense if you don't play every day he's able to do both off-speed strike one one ball one strike first changeup and a good one and if he can mix a few of those and you'll get guys not really sitting on one of his to put away pitches check hot Rodriguez Tigers won two of three and what was supposed to be a 40 game series in Detroit but the Saturday game was rained out after the Tigers won the opener Sox won Friday night 7:00 to 3:00 and Sunday the Tigers staved off a late Sox rally to win 4-2 three left side base hit John Hicks singles Rodriguez to second we'll take another look that's a changeup and Hicks was able to stay back so there was something in the motion that tipped off Hicks that it was gonna be an off-speed pitch the best change ups are when the arm velocity looks exactly like it does on a fastball you get hitters swinging at the motion as opposed to the pitch and usually you baffle them that time he was able to weight back and drive it into left field I was two change ups in a row as well he swung through the first one then singled on the next one Harrison takes ball number 1 Josh Harrison homered against Carlos rode on for his only hit of that three-game series and his only home run of 2019 it was on a first pitch fastball which he did not see this time around arason had some big years with the pirates hit 315 in 2014 13 home runs that year so he's not a power hitter but he's hit as many as 16 home runs with the Pirates tried to turn it around down the line one ball one strike on Harrison he's really been struggling but he's a quality player he signed late didn't have a full spring training and a lot of guys who haven't had full spring trainings get off to slow starts Harrison one of them but the Tigers expect that he's going to play back to what he did with Pittsburgh this is 277 lifetime hitter this guy can swing the bat always has he's an aggressive player and pretty pretty good defender the idea was that the pirate transplants would be on the middle infield majority Mercer came up heard he's currently in an able rehab assignment he's a good one and is one of those guys that you watch him play nothing really jumps out at you and then you notice that he makes every play very steady not flashy but he gets it done and along with Harrison they made a good double play combination while tada at third throws to second to retire design that the Tigers get back-to-back homers of the Sox have some climate [Music] hi it's Jan from Toyota as part of your community we're here to help you during these challenging times keeping your Toyota safe and go to web glycomics kochiya anderson abreu McCann batting fourth again Wakata anima Mena's a lot so Rondon and Cordell who's turning nine UI health defensive setup for the Tigers put out there by Ron Gardenhire it's Petersen Jones and Castellanos left to right weekend Hix Grayson Greiner the gigantic catcher behind the plate in our Lexus experience amazing starting pitcher is Daniel Norris on for his second start his fifth game we saw him in Detroit he was brilliant through five he struck out five in the first three innings in that game well I really think it's gonna help the guys having seen him just about a week ago because they realize that he's gonna throw a lot of fast balls to he's gonna keep him away on something and he's not gonna throw him hard I mean he is at the bottom of the major-league barrel in terms of velocity and that's not a dig it's simply the way he pitches he's got a spot to fastball and try to wipe you out with a very good breaking ball that we saw and that was slider check swing he didn't go says Tony Randazzo the first base umpire I thought maybe live he did but we'll take another look Tony Randazzo sees that and he may be the right call no he's right that's why they don't let me on fire among other reasons you try and save it you tried that it wasn't great yeah but you know later in your career you never know I think you do know we're pretty sure on that one three and one curtsy a bouncing ball that is no idea he's gonna walk to the left-field corner with the ball he did not know it was a fair ball and Laz Diaz immediately said it was fair we'll take another look we're right down the line we can certainly on fire this one so Leary bounces it lads is looking did it go over the bag the answer is yes absolutely a headed bounce fair no it it was so fair that you can't really make an argument so when candelario wants him to take another look at it they probably did he's making faces at our dugout instead of realizing the balls in play maybe he's just a big Michael Jordan fan I don't know get out the tongue there ball one to Tim Anderson so there is one thing to note on that play because it bounced in front of the umpires position that is not reviewable by the dugout by the replay room and certainly not by the third baseman nope no no don't know good try though yeah wants him to take a look but Lance is laughing because last knows at bouncing fair territory by the by the band together I mean for a moment while the ball was in the air there was great drama as to whether or not in a head just cut across the bag and then it bounced fair and the mystery was solved and that's what he's telling Kenda Larry oh now he goes he you can't really appeal this because it actually bounced in fair territory find a bag there's the list of reasons you can't review this [Applause] Daniel Norris what's he gonna throw the socks off in close-up here's what it is it's a lot of fast balls and then that slider 21% of the time interchangeable changeup and curveball he's got to set you up with his fastball and what I liked about him in Detroit was a lot of those fast balls though not overpowering they were all face high they looked so good that the boys expanded their strike zone and you're not gonna be able to catch up to it up there that your best bolt there is usually a pop up strike one on Jose Abreu [Music] first pitch strike bust him in that's been the lay of the land against Abreu throw the face high fastball keep the breaking ball out of the zone and that's what he's going to try to do to Jose in the dirt bouncing away Garcia easily trots to second base [Applause] this one just dives in the dirt grinder does shift the pit and that is a wild pitch Nora still hasn't given up anything with the runners in scoring position this year the o-p-s against him with runners in scoring position is flat zero that'll keep your er a down that'll also come to an end I think here [Applause] that's creepy somebody should write a story about that RBI number 20 Jose goes the opposite way inside-out swing muscles it into right field and just like that runners in scoring position in Jose who's going to produce a lot of runs this year just produces the Sox first tonight one in one on one out for James McCann now nobody needs to ask if you wrote anything down on a sheet of paper cuz you just set it well I guess write a few times okay it's fun here's McCann first pitch hunting the skies at right field side Castellanos his parked and makes the catch here's what's on the menu for tonight place your orders white socks farm report a bat made of steel the pun stirs are at it in the truck around Major League Baseball's some nachos in Cincinnati and our quick question today yielded a couple of interesting answers about the off day you'll figure out what the quick question is very shortly use the hashtag quick question to answer and we'll put up some of your answers along with the clubhouses answers as well one of the reasons why I enjoy seeing a left-hander facing Sox lineup is that Moncada will get more at-bats from the right side because it's really just a matter of more at-bats before he starts hitting for powers right hand hitter that is as wild of a cut as we've seen him take this year well he's guessing fastball all the way first pitch he didn't get it and he started his swing and that was pretty much it Greiner did a nice job on that breaking ball down and in of making sure that Jose could not advance and run first lot of Rae you they are booing not of railing should've seen the eye roll I got from Jill group in the booth his eyes are rolling down a hill after that one as you swing it amiss nothing in to Licata Abreu at first one in two to one first-inning be very surprised if Norris threw you on anything in the zone for a couple of pitches at least oh he was too Jose Abreu just after Steve called it with an RBI single alert the authorities as you enjoy a miller lite look forward to the whole true moment later in tonight's game and we'd like to welcome all our viewers watching on our TC fiber communications in Rochester Indiana and specifically a big White Sox fan Dave value but we're sending well wishes to tonight and Dave we we hope you're feeling better every day so we're thinking of Dave big Sox fan in Rochester Indiana Carlos rode on to Graceland Reiner and there's a change up for strike one get emotion that time because Brander was swinging yet the motion as opposed to the ball Luke Ellis is gonna find it alright for all you kids out there I just like saying that yeah are you doing okay what's a good changeup motion and what's not a good change of motion if you drop your arm from the arm slot you use on your fastball it won't be a good change there's a really good change Grider took it as he pounded it with change ups first strikeout number two you have to have the same arm velocity and the same release point on your changeup then it identifies to a hitters i as a fastball but there's about eight nine miles an hour difference and that time grantor was absolutely baffled in that event with a steady diet of straight changes first bitchier found a way by Jacoby Jones who spent most of the series at Comerica Park getting plumped he's one of their elite defenders he's a very good centerfielder and they hope the bat comes along Carlos is living at the edge of the zone down at the bottom there - that's a breaking ball inside but it's a very rhythmic start to the inning for Carlos rode on get it go get it go completely different than the first inning he's got his rhythm looking pretty good how about all the changeups he's fired in there I think he's decided that the Tigers need a different look from him terrific motion again you see Jones swinging at that motion good release point same release point as a fastball and if Carlos gets comfortable and confidence in that pitch it's going to set up everything else how many times can we say Carlos rode on one time through the order through more change ups than sliders not often that's what happened 33 pitches 10 change ups 9 sliders 14 fastballs on the way through the first night that's ball tucked in downstairs Chucky I was talking to James McCann before the game and he says the way that they call pitches for Rodon sometimes is as simple as okay what's working what's not working remember that game against Cleveland he threw like half sliders yeah so the fastball command wasn't there now you can't live and have a career throwing sliders half the time but they just did it in that game so they've made an adjustment it seems the change-up seems to be a good pitch trading right now you know it's pretty noticeable too with James McCann that he invests in the relationship with the pitcher he likes to feel out the pitcher not not that other catchers don't try to do that but based on the reactions I've seen from Sox pitchers they really do like wrong that balls up the middle for a base hit for candelario well that shows you how important hitting your spot is usually when pitchers miss it by six eight inches it's going to cost them at that time McCann wanted it inside he's setting up inside but that pitch is out away and Candelaria goes out and just hooks it into center field so missing your spot by that much usually cost you and that time to cost Carlos but for the moment it just cost him a 1-2-3 inning so Castellanos with a runner on and two out Tigers got homers from Castellanos and Cabrera back to back in the first and now Carlos is gonna throw upstairs against Castellanos casiano Suede's into the ball and so he is coming toward the outside corner with his swing and that's why he abruptly was stood up with that inside fastball that's a good place to throw it now they're gonna throw it change and see if he keeps it low and away in the dirt he's always seen the ball well against Carlos including his second home run of the Year last inning as a bomb to straight away center field for Castellanos it's not a hat but it could double as one grounded foul two balls and a strike on Casti Gatos who's got the hardest hit ball of the night sometimes that gets redeemed for nothing but it got him a home run this evening and it is a good idea to have a blanket at the ballgame this evening it's gonna become increasingly more important as we move along in this one two and one on the ground wide a third again two balls and two strikes all right so how would you put him away Castellanos with Carlos's stun face high fastball middle in he will swing through it and strike out if he gets it there we'll see slider no I wouldn't because not much margin for error plus a berry slider in the dirt you might see Kendall area at second base he wants a fastball in Carlos wants to change and he called a slider in the slider away which is called the backdoor slider Carlos for the moment shaking everything off and he says look James probably gone you don't have any more pitches than that so pick one of the things I put down and whatever you decide to throw I'll catch it I literally gave you all the pitches and you said no I'm running out of fingers that's a new ball in there inside fastball hopefully up to two it's down he didn't want it there and he saw the glove setup this becomes a pretty big pitch for Carlos even though it's early in the ballgame you have one of their most prolific hitters in a situation where your one run down already let's see if you'll swing at this slider down fouled away let's take a look at stat cast powered by a EWS and it's the Castellanos home run in the first it was a fastball and it went 418 feet [Applause] should be able to catch it off the bounce there was a time when if you caught a ball on a bounce in foul territory you were out even fair territory very very early on ball forecasting otto's takes a two-out walk and miguel cabrera the danger of Miguel Cabrera is in this spot is he just ones the ball on to grass sometimes and you've got a runner at second base they're gonna be going on contact and that's usually what we saw in Detroit where he wasn't driving the ball but he was just making contact riki Renteria knows he's got a very long homestand and would love to kick it off on the positive note with a win tonight [Music] Road onto Cabrera first pitch hit of the year foul right side active career hits leaders Miguel Cabrera is numbered too he's probably not going to be caught by Robinson Cano and he's probably not gonna catch Albert Pujols you think I think he's got a shot at pool holes I don't think I don't think he'll be caught but I think he's got a shot it out and relay yep that's a lot of hits and he's had some injury trouble on his own it's true 300 hits but well their contracts almost run about the same time I think Miguel's runs a little bit longer than Albert both just exceptional hitters for a long long time in this game this is where we love our viewers because folks out there somebody keep a record of that and remind us if Miguel Cabrera ever ends up passing Albert pools and say Jason you were wrong I'll be waiting depends on the health of both of them certainly do right now in the tank Cabrera's got a little bit more than Albert [Music] bouncing ball into Center candelario scores caste Otto's 2/3 same type of thing we saw in Detroit two-out hit for Miguel Cabrera finds some daylight and the Tigers are back on the board [Applause] second run batted into the night that fastball on the outer third Cabrera takes it right back up the middle as he's done so often throughout his career and that's gonna bring doc you per out to the mouth neide I didn't call it directly before the pitch but it's fairly similar to what I expected was a possibility with Cabrera huh so maybe it's rubbing off well it could very well be it's contagious on occasion but contagious on occasion one in in the inning all with two outs by the way Peterson coming up and the meeting breaks up these are not wall shattering hits for the Tigers but they got the job done certainly and Carlos shrugs and has to go after Peterson strike one he went with the slider to that back door not taking one pitch number 50 is coming it's been a heavy workload in not through the second yet and Carlos has got to get this one statistic up higher he throws first pitch strikes just under 55% of the time that particular statistic is a very difficult one to overcome and it's a testament to Carlos's stuff that he's been pitching as well as he has by throwing that first pitch strike only 55% at a time league average 61.2% just inside three and one not only does it generally raise batting averages for hitters and slugging percentages but it shortens the buffet of options you have to throw them later in the calendar if you don't well it sets up an offensive attack instead of a guy looking to make contact he's looking to drive in the air first base side Abreu after it and he slides and can't make the play it's a foul ball three and two for Peterson going to get a little easier to see in about 10-15 minutes as darkness really takes hold right now it's dusk and this would have been a magnificent play if he made it he comes up short but fortunately nobody ran into one another and the ball was followed three and two on Peterson [Applause] ran the count Bowman the first he walked now here he'll see a seventh pitch from Carlos Road on the good news is the Sox head the off day yesterday to rest the bullpen and reorganize [Applause] when you don't get ahead of Peterson you can't really take advantage of his real soft spot and that's inside he's hitting less than a hundred on inside fastball so you know what the league has tried to do with them however if you don't get ahead then he got to use more of the plate and it's gonna be another fastball let's see where he throws it another one fouled off and the Sox bullpen has been shuffled a little bit too because Ervin Santana was designated for assignment after three starts so he's off the roster Manny Banuelos right now has been put into the starting rotation and so the long man in the bullpen is up for grabs Carson Fulmer maybe that guy Ryan burr will see but Santana is off the roster and Carson Fulmer has grabbed the ball Carlos strikes out Dustin Peterson and the inning comes to an end but a taxing hitting gets the Tigers a run on the south side we have our own mentality it's an attitude embraced by legend and instilled in the future we play louder faster the only way we know how and we don't stop because you never know when one hit one pitch one moment can change everything we're not just here to play the game we're here to change the next episode of white sox all-access presented by aiken law alloys shares the meaning of his red batting gloves Dillon Sea Dogs pitching grips and we take a look at Tim Anderson's letter to Jackie Robinson that's Sunday after White Sox post game live on NBC Sports Chicago their first pitch a strike to Illinois Jimenez who's off the bereavement list and for more on that here's Chuck our fight that's right aloy Jimenez went back to the Dominican Republic this week his grandmother had passed away she had to say here in the second unit and he said it meant a lot for him to be able to go down there and pay his respects and be with his family he I said it was hard to say goodbye to his grandmother but she's in his heart all the time and in fact when alloy went up to the plate I did notice that he had scribbled something with his bat in the dirt I'm wondering if it had something to do with her he said when he was younger he told his grandmother that he was gonna make it to the big leagues and that she would be able to watch him play in the major leagues and she was able to watch him play on television in the Dominican Republic this year so that's great he asked for the ball he wants his girl Boston for the ball Chuck and so he's gonna keep that one I mean we've we've joked around about alloy keeping the first of just about everything in his major-league career and it's with a melancholy heart that he keeps this ball and he tweeted out earlier today he said sent it to him saying I'm back to my second family speaking of the White Sox and thank them for all of the support that they've provided him this week we've seen it so much Chuck and Steve in the last couple years with the Sox how much feeling baseball has provided people around this team whether it be Tim Anderson after he lost his friend Brandon Moss or the whole team laying around each other the day out for the situation with Danny Farquhar there is a lot of healing that can come from being around teammates and people you play this sport with when you play this game for a living and you're spending six months on planes and buses and in dugouts and locker rooms with the guys they are your second family and they know everything about you they just do it walking through the clubhouse the other day in Baltimore Tim Anderson was sitting on the couch in the middle of the clubhouse to get is put up on his sweatshirt and he had some headphones in but you couldn't see him he was just on the phone with one of his friends in the middle of the clubhouse everybody hears every conversation that you have there's really no privacy in the clubhouse and so you just get to know a lot about these people around you is Yonder Alonso takes ball four and the Sox have something turning here in the second inning with two on and nobody out one of the most difficult things in this game for a pitcher is facing the same team in about the same week because you design a game plan when you facing the first time and it's if it's effective as it was for both of these pitchers then the hitters know exactly how you got them out last time you have to do something differently and the boys are getting much better swings at Norris and of course the Tigers are getting good swings at Carlos strike one to Jose Rondon yeah the counter for that for norris's if he can throw the ball through a keyhole when he wants to into the spot that he wants it at like that first pitch breaking ball you're not gonna do a whole bunch though but you get a really good idea how that fastball moves and how the breaking ball breaks you know it's interesting we talk about how much video is out there and every Sox player has a tablet with video computers with video but it is different when you see it coming in rather than that that centerfield camera do you you can look at video and you can see how the ball reacts on a fastball how it moves and everything else but from 60 feet six inches away it's a whole different world timing stop for Harrison and the vault does trigger there to get one out Alonso out at second base alloy to third Rondon at first we told you that Harrison was a very good defender and this is an exceptional play keeping Norris out of some big problems he knows he can't transfer the ball so he has to flip it with his glove and even though it's a backwards flip a good job on the other end by Rodriguez to keep the foot on the bag for the sliding Alonso that goes into center field this could turn out to be a big inning so for the moment a big play by Harrison so you got first and third one out and I know there are a lot of folks watching who've watched all of the games is here saying even if you don't take the lead this in and get that guy in from third with less than two out hitters take particular pride in that statistic inside ball one well Ryan Cordell torched the Tigers in Detroit he was 5 for 10 in the series he scored four runs and hit a homer the Tigers playing him absolutely straight up something I don't believe that the Orioles did in three games the Orioles shifted more than anything I've seen in a while yeah the Orioles were shifting the in-betweens hitches I mean yep two balls no strikes but again you see all the different strategies in baseball people talk about how all the teams have the same data which you just kind of proprietarily shuffle it around but it is the same stuff teams just deploy it in such different ways we'll have to see if Ricky decides to give Cordell the 3o green light he's going to get his fastball let's see if he likes it that's inside ball four Ryan takes a walk the bases are loaded for Leora Garcia and we go downstairs to Chuck dart yeah James McCann is a former Tiger he's caught Daniel Norris before and he says when he's around the strike zone he fills the zone with all his pitches he's tough to beat that's what he did last week when he doesn't and this is well it goes to show with every pitcher he struggles and the one thing that stuck out for McCann is we gotta hit his mistake so Evan too too many of them that just hasn't had the command yet but Jimenez hit a mistake Abreu did as well and now with the bases loaded let's see what happens here after this meeting at the mound yeah you were talking about this with McCann Chuck that just because he's been back there for his stuff he's got a different view of it than some of the Sox do yeah and you touched on it Steve it's it's much different than just watching video from the centerfield camera when you're down there squattin has a catch war in the box it looks different and they saw him last week they couldn't really get to him now they're seeing him again and north's doesn't seem to have his good stuff here so far Leora Garcia with the bases loaded takes one in the dirt and grinder gets the big body in front there's a nice stop would it cost a run plus two runners in scoring positions so a big play by Greiner how about a gapper to left-center that are just about anything that drops safely on the grass would be nice dye up the ball game [Applause] as a double-play so Norris gets the ground ball he wants in the innings over but a Loy Jimenez a moment for him that hit him in the heart leadoff single for alloy and he wants that ball for his grandmother lancers from inside the Sox clubhouse and we want your answers as well hashtag quick question there's some great ways to spend an off day in this city one of them is going to as many museums as you can fit into one day because museums here are spectacular are you a museum guy yeah I really am when I didn't know that I enjoy the museum very much here yeah I think that's to the Art Institute if you want to you want to go I would love to go I particularly like the Renaissance paintings I like the vibrant vibrant way they jump out at you we learn about Joe Walsh this week and your affinity Master Steve stone one gone and Hicks will bat here in the third very important for Carlos to have a shutdown inning here he'd like to make it one two three he'd like to keep a minimum of pitches because the workload is pretty heavy so far you just don't want to get to the bullpen this early on a very long homestand ten days ten games and you want to make sure that that pen is going to be strong and rested for each and every one of them first pitch not called a strike ball one barring any rain situation in the next couple weeks the Sox next off days is May 15th so there's a big stack of games where you'd like to have the bullpen all shipshape as much as possible and Carlos has been so good this year saving the bullpen you hope he can do the same thing this evening 1 1 is a breaking ball 2 and 1 the Sox are carrying one fewer pitcher right now with Santana designated Nikki Del Monico came up for hello Jimenez going on the bereavement list so there's one fewer guy out there with Ryan foreign company for on the bench Don Cooper's hoping for an economical couple of innings for Carlos Road on two and to bounce straight back nice reaction by the dude behind the net and now he's re-enacting it just in case his buddies didn't see it the first time well you're looking at the ball and even though you have a net in front your reflexes are gonna make you flinch because it's coming right at you do something ah there you go love the reenactment too left side base hit Hicks is two for two [Applause] Hey 2019 Chicago White Sox are presented by guaranteed rate your home team throughout the season and the official mortgage provider of the Chicago White Sox bona stuff on this homestand dog day on Monday that's my favorite day of the year you can still bring your dog to the park you you have to apply so everyone knows how many dogs are coming to the ballpark you go into the special section and you and your dog have to have your shots you go to a white sox cloud slash bark for more information or email dog day and shy sox calm sometimes I think you and I have both found that when we ignore what the other has said periodically works out very good for the both of us that works up better Owen Wanda Harrison Hicks at first one out third inning that's on the ground Anderson scoops it up falling away Tim did a great job of getting to the ball and trying to plant he actually almost did the split says he got the ball to second base but Harrison hustling all the way this one was in the hole Tim gets there tries to plant the right foot and goes wait a second pretty accurate for falling over backwards and just not quick enough the strides a debt young man has made with the glove forget the hitting the hitting is a different a different aspect but the strides he's made with the glove from the middle of last year to right now have been unbelievable you could make a strong argument for Tim Anderson to be the American League Player of the Month I think the numbers the numbers weren't that we'll see how it pans out for him but he's off to a great start with the glove with the bat nine for nine in stolen bases I mean there really isn't anything he hasn't done bicha ball - Greiner who's been hitting the ball quite a bit to the opposite field this year k-crew tweets in let me know when you and Steve head to the Art Institute I've never been and would like to tag along I like the Field Museum actually yep at we had the event there which was a wonderful event it's just a beautiful place to spend a day beyond the diamond beautiful yeah very nice you hung out with Sue the t-rex who you went to middle school with I think right now exactly right when she was a little heavier in the air outside that fall is twisting foul the ball of two strikes on Grace and Brian or the 26 year old catcher first Harrison making sure that hat stays on after it went and tumblin as he was running down the first baseline to break up the DoublePlay difference in moves the right-handers have to depend on quickness on pickoff moves the left handers normally have to depend on deception while bounces away from McCann Harrison advances 90 feet but wait and see what Bob Rosenberg decides to call on Madeline you'll watch it again it's a slider down that one just dips under the glove it is a pass ball carlos and james refocus on one another well they know grinders having all kinds of problems hitting breaking balls from right-hand pitchers we'll see if it actually holds true that he's having the same kind of problems on breaking balls from left-handers - and two forthcoming left-field Jimenez back at the warning track him I can't make the fly is gone and he flanked into that wall hard out in left hello jimenez is down the Tigers have made it five to one [Applause] malloy Jimenez down and hurt in left field on the home run from Greiner Rickey Renteria Brian ball out there to check on him Brian ball working on the Sox young star the law it goes all the way back to the wall and crashes into the wall and watch his right leg when he crashes into the wall it looks like the right ankle because when he crashed into the wall the ankle looked like it gave a bit he's up and standing and it is the right ankle and try and walk it off Brian ball talking to him Ricky Renteria [Applause] [Applause] I think they're probably going to take a minute that's what it looks like at least they want to take a look at it and make sure that he is a hundred percent so we'll see who Ricky calls out looked like he was signaling to Garcia to going to left and then Adam angle to play Center as he hits the wall take a look at the right ankle he goes up the right ankle plants and then bends as he goes into it with all of his weight and it's a nice sign that he's able to walk off at least under his own power he doesn't have to be aided at all but they will take a look and make sure that he's a hundred percent and right now it looks like it's bothering him a lot more there's a lot of pride in that young man Brian ball and Rickey Renteria are gonna help him off Jose Abreu come all the way across the diamond to see him so alloy jimenez walking off after the home run from Greiner just a truly unfortunate situation he was going after a long fly ball gave it everything on the play and left and now has to come out of the game and we will get you an update immediately when we know something from the Sox training staff and Brian ball [Applause] and now that suddenly we go right back to baseball two runs in two out Jacoby Jones fouls the first pitch away as we presumed Adam angles checked into the game he's in center field Lawrie Garcia moves to left this is truly a game of subtleties because of Harrison doesn't hustle and beat the DoublePlay this inning is not alive and Brainerd doesn't have an at-bat to hit over the head of Jimenez but unfortunately the hustle of Harrison kept the inning alive and the injury and two runs baseball more than anything is one big butterfly effect' one scoring change as well that passed balls become a wild fish for those of you keeping score two and two from Carlos that's fouled away outfield straightaway as pretty much the infield Tim is back on the grass at Short gotta be careful you don't want to plate too far back Jones has good speed good slider to the back shoe strike three but the Tigers get two runs away Jimenez comes out of the game and we'll play bottom three next the game has changed but our strength and community never will our passion will help us do this we will cheer as one again South Side baby hang in that because no matter how far apart we are now we will come together to change the game [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] five one Tigers bottom three at guaranteed rate field Tim Anderson Jose Abreu James McCann coming up and hello Jimenez has left a game tonight with an apparent leg injury as he went into the fence to try to take a home run from grace and Griner Jimenez helped off the field by Sox head trainer Brian ball and manager Ricky Renteria and again we'll get you an update as soon as we hear anything on alloy Jimenez [Applause] one strike on Tim Anderson and Norris bankroll down to a four run lead which can loosen him up of open that was a high breaking ball strike and Tim is down Owen to hit the ball very well first time up they feel line and foul as a fly out to Center to the warning track for Tim Anderson in the first inning trend has had a very good start to this season they're playing 500 ball which is something I'm not sure that they expected everybody is hoping out of spring training you come out playing solid baseball but the Tigers are playing pretty good ball right down Norah's pumps in strike three Anderson punches out Hey Sox fans stay connected to the White Sox with all the speed coverage and control you need with Xfinity x5 this is beyond Wi-Fi this is x51 down Abreu coming up yeah the one negative that the Tigers are dealing with right now is that their pitchers are falling Jordan Zimmerman on the IL today for 10 days so they're down a starter he's out with a UCL sprain probably the best thing about is Tiger organizations the fact that they do have pretty decent pitching at all levels so that's the place they can really absorb to have a couple of guys nicked up their double-a roster right now is basically the All SEC team from a couple years ago they got KC Mize from Harvard and Alex by a toe from Florida that is a top prospect machine down there in the double-a rotation up the middle base hit he's 2 for 2 pretty nice job of bringing his hands in to hit that inside fastball and Jose does that exceptionally well this one is a cutter actually inside but he's able to get the hands in get the head of the bat out and take it right back up the middle [Applause] brings up James McCann it's one of those where if you try to turn on the ball you're gonna yank it foul and that's one of the reasons Hosea's had the kind of batting averages he's had able to take that inside-out swing bring his hands in and still make solid contact it's interesting the way they're playing James McCann on the infield because this year more than any year and we're only 23 games in being in recent memory he's gone opposite field a lot more I think this is a product of the way that Norris is gonna pitch him I think Norris probably wants to pitch him inside and get him to pull a ball on the ground just trying one on one because normally with that breaking ball the right-handers are going to pull it and if he throws that fastball inside they're probably gonna do the same thing but there's nobody home on the right side if he decides to go that way James hits it in the air left field side Peterson makes the catch for out number two [Applause] and here's Johan Mikado elsewhere tonight the Indians are at the Astros and Carlos Gonzales has provided some thunder for Cleveland they're tied at two in the fourth inning but Gonzales who was signed to a minor-league deal now has the opportunity to th in that Cleveland lineup with Hanley Ramirez gone and that's a new dimension to Cleveland who will see in the second week of May takes a strike reiner SWAT that thing down that's one of those that you're not quite sure what's coming so you just reach up and hope the ball sticks in the glove he was able to stop it that was the good thing for him left and ER Daniel Norris who came over in the David Price deal on one on one from one katana and strength to all of his own more than anything else with the fastball Norris goes up and down he wants to change eye angles so he's going to go down next thing you know fastball is up in your face then just when you're expecting it up he throws it down in the zone Tottle lays off the slider nicely two balls two strikes Abreu at first two out third inning and if you just joined us hello Jimenez has come out of the ball game after colliding with the wall in left on a home run from grace and Greiner in the top of the third nice job of staying alive with that one that was in just barely off the plate inside and he was able to catch a piece and keep the abed alive two and two breaking ball fouled off twins by the way in that dead heat atop is central with Cleveland they're up four to nothing at the top before if against Baltimore Alex table had some very pointed things to say about the baseball and how its flying and he's just providing more evidence tonight because he gave up three homers to the twins to it to seven feet get a stop sign your one's got himself but to a double and animate goal will bat with two in scoring position [Applause] that went right down the middle and you won crushed it not quite hard enough to get to the wall if it did Jose would have scored but putting two runners in scoring position and a bigot bad for Adam angle his first of the night off the bat had a hundred and nine miles an hour for you on Moncada [Applause] batting average last year on balls hit 109 miles an hour with 706 in Major League Baseball I would say that would get you a nice raise he could wind up the year maybe even I don't know 400 points less than that you get your own wings if you hit 706 shows you how rare it is to hit the ball that hard oh one has a foul ball not toward Chuck carp I'm the first one though was let's watch yeah this one's kind of close I try to let the guy in the net with the net catch it but he missed it is that a bulletproof vest that's good by the way I got a nice note on you on Mankato against lefties okay struggles against lefties last year he's now 9 for 29 he's been over 300 against lefties there's another one close by here four doubles and five RBIs this year against lefties for Johan moncada that is a marked improvement this year yeah as so much has changed for you on what Tata this year and that is a component of it he hit everywhere he had ever been there was no reason to assume he wouldn't hit here last year pitchers took advantage of him this year he's getting a little payback two strikes for Adam and that's into the glove for strike three to stranded for the Sox in the one of the point Carlos rode on fires call number one Oh what we would give sometimes to be that age where the food was much more important in your mind than the score it was the great part about coming to the ballpark with all of the things that you couldn't get at home that you could get here like that you can't get that oh no you can't that's that's like a queen from an oversized chessboard full of stuff the Alice in Wonderland Queen uh-huh very nice three and oh it's outside it's ball four it's a leadoff walk Carlos might be shaking something out - who's the one o pitch take a look don't know if he might have turned that ankle a bit as he went to plant that he appears to be okay trying to throw a ground ball here to a very tough Niklas caste on us with his swing trying to throw a ground ball is not the easiest proposition right side base hit [Applause] to second he'll stop there Castellanos is 2 for 2 with a walk he's been on three times pull pin up and going once again it is Carson Fulmer once again and that's Kurt Hassler probably telling Don Cooper that he will be ready whenever it is you need him because this is his second time up you've talked about it before that's something that gets charted as well it's how many warmup pitches how many times you've gotten up yeah the time the time's up are pretty important to keep track your bullpen and make sure you can keep everybody fresh two on nobody out top fourth Miguel Cabrera checks his swing on a ball in the sand Cabrera two for two a home run to right in the first that just got over the wall an RBI single with two down in the second I went to centerfield for Carlos tonight this has been a struggle from the first inning on nothing has really fallen to get it right field Cabrera toward the corner it goes in this falls off the wall fair candelario got held up [Applause] he scores anyway it's an everything I doubled Castillo nose to third Cabrera is a triple shy of his cycle and it's six to one Detroit Cabrera's had a run batted in in each and every one of his three at-bats and that's gonna be it for Carlos who just flat out didn't have it it's a bad feeling out there when it doesn't matter what you throw but those hitters are on just about everything Cabrera shows you why he's been one of the dominant hitters of his era and Candelaria was tagging up he was going to make sure he advanced and then had to really turn it off with that theorem he scored easily so it will be Carson Fulmer coming in out of the bullpen Rodon steps off Fullmer in a jam when we come out to the Lakeside Bank call to the pen Lakeside Bank it's about time and Carson Fulmer into this one for the fifth time is er a at four and three-quarters this is big outing for him he's got the infield in now he inherits a couple of base runners in scoring position nobody out here in the fourth inning and so far it's all Tigers at six to one Carson hadn't pitched Wednesday or Thursday he did throw 38 total pitches Monday and Tuesday with the infield in there's a ground ball can't pick it Castellanos scores Cabrera to third [Applause] tibbe tries to backhand it right it's probably the toughest play at shortstop halves because it's not the short hop it's not the long hop and it hits off the glove bounds in the left field so play he certainly would have liked to make but he got the in-between hop and didn't get it done it does go as a base hit and justifiably so as he drives in a run it's turning into a very difficult fourth first and third nobody out for Ronnie Rodriguez who was grounded two balls today once into a fielder's choice once 6 to 3 as the leadoff man last inning and he takes ball 1 started a 10 game homestand tonight rodriguez was never gonna swing at that he was stepping off as it came out of full Murs hand - and Oh looks like he's inviting the pitch in but he doesn't have a whole lot of coverage away good cotter two and one Tigers got in around four o'clock in the morning from Boston they played long enough in the game so the curfew got him and they had to go to another airport by the time they got here was very late or very early in the morning and it obviously is not affecting them it usually doesn't affect you on that day usually affects you the next day two balls two strikes second straight cutter from Carson Fulmer like a short slider basically and the third straight will yield a strikeout because that front foot of Rodriguez is pulling out as is the front shoulder and when that happens very little coverage unless you almost throw the bat at it time called by Rodriguez who does swing at pitches out of his own more than anybody in the Tigers line Oh Cabrera at third Peterson at first - a - chip foul hey join us for Star Wars died at guaranteed raid field it's Saturday May 4th in 8 days as the Sox take on the Boston Red Sox first 15,000 fans get an r2d2 bobblehead presented by TransUnion go to white sox calm to purchase your tickets today r2d2 was here at the ballpark during the last home stand he was visiting very loquacious fellow and he never nods no he always shakes his head no loquacious but not agreeable that's true - until Fulmer - Rodriguez ball stayed up and chopped foul official word on La Jimenez he was removed with a right ankle sprain x-rays were negative for a fracture he'll be reevaluated tomorrow and they grade sprains we'll have to see what that one was great at at their strike three breaking ball downstairs and one away and if you did not see what happened to allow Jimenez and that ankle sprain here it is on a ball that Grayson Grider hit to the wall and Lloyd gave it a lawn and didn't really protect himself going into the wall and that's when he went down he was helped off the field by Sox head trainer Brian ball and his great staff Rickey when Korea was there as well and there's the divot gives you an idea how hard he hit that wall new tix who had two hits against Carlos rode on his lines still open for Carlos tonight three plus nine hits three walks five strikeouts ideal time with that little cutter that Carson throws to get Hicks to turn over and hit the ball the left side you produce a pair get out of the inning with some damage but not as much as could be there it was downstairs he laid off two balls no strikes Carlos just one of those nights he hasn't had a whole lot of these during the course of his career you just move ahead you look back to figure out why you got there throw out the end result because it doesn't matter anymore and then try not to repeat what happened two balls and a strike [Applause] but Carson Fulmer just whipping up cutters and curveballs lissa lineup designed to face road on so it's righty after righty after righty which plays right into the hand of a righty with a good combination of cutter slider and we'll see another one here - one is downstairs three balls and a strike for Carlos rode on you could say that his changeup was his best pitch tonight he got five swinging strikes in twenty two change ups but the rarity is only three swings and misses against 21 sliders the slider wasn't a little lazy tonight and that's something that will happen you're not getting the good bite on it so it stays in the zone longer you mean lazy and movement not in how he was offering not right no I mean yeah that's what I mean instead of the sharp break it just kind of drifted bases-loaded off that walk for John Hicks as we take a look at our white sox farm report it is steel Walker and a ball with Kannapolis a 438 on-base 590 slugging percentage his 7th multi-hit game + 17 days it's good steel Walker music but when it sounds like so bases-loaded Josh Harris in the batter on the ground Tim Anderson shovels to second to get one and that's all Cabrera scores Peterson to third and the Tigers make it 8 to 1 Harrison drives in his sixth run of the year get good speed that one wasn't hit hard enough to turn to and so it turns into a run in a seven run lead so that is the last act against Carlos Road on this evening officialy hey turn runs against Carlos and Fullmer will face Greiner strike one Carson Fulmer former first-round pick out of Vanderbilt has been a starter and a reliever and now thrust into the long man role with Manny Banuelos entering the rotation Ervin Santana down designated for assignment strike two for Grider Karson five starts in 2017 eight starts last year at the beginning of this season Oh - he got him swinging for strike three so Fullmer punches out Greiner and the inning is over hi it's Jan from Toyota as part of your community we're here to help you during these challenging times keeping your up Yonder Alonso hosts a Rondon Ryan Cordell to face the left-hander Daniel Norris whose first pitch is high for ball one so Norris head control on the fritz in the second inning he walked two he gave up a base hit but got a double play right when he needed it and worked out of that Jam is yonder tacks one deep to right field castillo knows at the warning track this is what here [Applause] lights up the crowd 8 to 2 for those out of the years he's driven in 11 the powering flyball that just refused to come down that wind is still blowing toward the right-field corner this one would have been out anyway in our Ford homerun replay up and out over the plate and gone high leg kick [Applause] donation from the Alex Neleus family in loving memory of Ursula Yonder Alonso here to provide that power to the offense and he doesn't lefty/lefty tonight this one flipped first base side big trouble base hit Jose Rondo this is where the first base coach comes into play and that's Darrell Boston and he comes into play because with everybody going after it the hitter won't forget about the pitcher and many times the pitcher is going to trail the hitter and stand at the bag to try to get a throw to see if he can get a hitter rounding the bags so you see him here and Norris is behind them it's up to Darryl Boston who did it said don't stray too far get back and that's one of the responsibilities of the first base coach he's got that helmet on but it doesn't render his brain inactive nice work by Daryl a good man Darrell Boston a large man is Darrell Bosco 104 Ryan Cordell who takes ball number two after a four pitch walk in the second inning six pitches all out of the zone for Ryan so far today Rondon it first - it always inside three balls no strikes scared up you know you get the feeling that the boys will come back and make things a little more uncomfortable for the Tigers it's very lively night at the ballpark we've seen that and Norris doesn't have his real good stuff tonight ooh you know is there or is trying three in one Rondon at first nobody out brian takes a called strike that ball flattened out just enough to clip the corner it was one that had just a little piece of the corner but a good call by Cory blazer who's having a good night behind the plate tonight yes he is Rondon at first nobody out Ryan a chopper to shortstop Rodriguez to second in Chinese to second double play the Tigers infield is turned tonight but with the bases loaded only one out they turn to double play in the second inning and this one a very snappy 6 for 3 Harrison he's just a really good defender and he's already made a sparkling play to his right diving to keep a ball in the infield that could have led to some big problems for the Tigers in the first rider pulled that ball up quite a bit to get strike one Wow that was a really good breaking ball owing to yes it thrown a lot of those tonight but that was one of the better ones like it was hanging there on a string and then just [Applause] ah no - it's in a dirty hello Jimenez left the game with an ankle sprain he'll be reevaluated tomorrow x-rays were negative for a break struck him out Norris with his fourth strikeout and younger with a little cutter leave it to right field to make it 8 to 2 [Music] [Applause] [Music] both of my team's ass it's a great app some great stuff on the app White Sox talk podcast Chuck guard fine our wonderful scribe our intrepid reporter our podcast host who does everything oh and one Carson Fulmer that swatted foul by Jones here's what else is on the app by the way you can read a story about he and Hamilton and Ryan burr getting a shout out from the star of Hamilton in the creator of Hamilton lin-manuel Miranda tweeted yesterday hello Hamilton and burr from the White Sox hello White Sox among others Chicago tweets very nice so this is our opportunity and you can get that on the my team's app this is our opportunity to say that Ryan and Ian have not been to the musical Hamilton Chuck they haven't and if the people who produce Hamilton are listening or watching they may throw some free tickets over to Ryan Berg I mean come on my name is burr he belongs at Hamilton don't you think well I think if they were to give free tickets to Ryan who's here and Ian Hamilton not currently this one in the air right centerfield Adams on the run he's at the wall on that ball hangs over run for Jacoby Jones [Applause] afford home run replay there's a cutter that pretty much stayed right there and Jones went down and got it his one didn't make it by much but it made it by enough it's the top of the wall and unfortunately does not bound back into the field of play just keeps on going for another homerun tonight one in candelario the batter first pitch swinging foul ball it's Chuck what else were you gonna say before that homerun rudely interrupt yeah I know I'm actually just on the my team's app right now I'm reading all the stories that you can get right now there's the story about the boy Jimenez exiting the game Ervin Santana the NDF aide we've got the story about Hamilton and burr so just it's a very easy another ball you did yeah while reading the app it's very user friendly on your phone you can just go right through it all this the stories podcasts you can stream the game on your phone so it's very easy to use user friendly highly recommend downloading the my team's app what's on the podcast right now I know you turn out like three a day so what you got podcast right now is this has been a disappointing start for the white sox for this season and you a nine and fourteen start coming into today and we talked about what's been going wrong and what's been going right recon in fact today spoke about that specifically saying you know a lot of the young guys though that's been the positive with mukada and anderson even Carson Fulmer has been pitching well I know he abducts home run but what's really been holding back it's a certain degree are some of the veterans who historically put up better numbers than what we've seen so far and so that's had coroner recon you know had something to do with the win-loss record right now with this team and that's today you see the movement with Ervin Santana designated for assignment and man even way lows currently in the rotation we'll see if he can get a stranglehold on that position you've been throwing well enough to do it he was great out of the bullpen for his appearances and the one start was really good into the shift a roller [Music] [Applause] on the infield for the Sox tough ball to handle in between him and Tim and Rondon plays it nicely this one really split the difference between them and fortunately Tim doesn't get kicked because his Jose was sliding he almost got a piece of Tim on his way by so whenever you see two players get that close he kind of hold your breath for a minute a fine play by Rondo we don't need any more of that today nope we certainly do not one out Nicolas Castellanos who has reached base three times as has Miguel Cabrera tonight first one a strike that low portion of his strike zone is gaining the mob the batter's great Blazers been calling that low strike all night he continues to call it and the Tigers who were home run starved coming into this one have hit for tonight [Applause] football one strike from Carson Fulmer and Kant wanted that fastball up and Carson threw it in the dirt he was giving him the high target but couldn't get it there we'll look into James and see not only what he wants but where he wants it and see if Carson can execute the pitch that's an inside fastball Carson didn't want to go with that you said to me before the game that you are you have a more progressive viewpoint on something in baseball that you wanted to share during the telecast but you wouldn't tell me what it was care - yes I have come to the realization that it's a different era of baseball and I think that fans are looking for enthusiasm I feel that you should let players celebrate any way they want to then let them handle whatever they want to handle down on the field but it's an emotional game and let them show their emotions I mean I I really think that it's just a different air of the game they're doing it in all sports now and not only Tim but just about each and every one of the guys when they when they do something really well and really big in a ball game you should be allowed to celebrate and if you let everybody do it then all of a sudden it changes the culture I think it's time to change that culture a bit then boy do I have a t-shirt for you this is new it's sticked on it is and it's no that's a handsome sure we have them here on the prize shelf and have them across the street yes indeed if at the Depot with a couple of dollars you can purchase one and take it home to your neighborhood and be the first in your neighborhood to have one so you're gonna wear one now because you like emotion in the game I would like that is that right yeah but this is meteor handsome to it to him cats Tiano strike salad Castellanos arguing in a 9-2 advantage he'll be leaving he didn't like the first strike we'll take another look that slider now although James caught it down there's a very good chance it came over the plate high enough Castellanos thought it was down and away quarry blazer thought it was good enough he says that's - you called curry says yes you're right and I the called the third but you fouled it off you are so good at narrating conversations that you're not privy to imaginary conversations best kind nobody could talk back to you but that was the pitch that we've been looking for and that's a high fastball just barely out of the zone and that's a pitch they haven't been able to throw - Castellanos but that one to Cabrera was pretty good and he's had quite a night a triple shy of the cycle and we're sitting here in the fifth inning miguel cabrera has never hit for the cycle a triple would be something that you wouldn't expect his last triple was in May of 2016 I would think with the leg problems that he's had where's it got to go for a triple to happen with this defense has to go to Detroit and it bounced in the left center field and somehow it's not a homer right now strike three Carson Fulmer punches out Cabrera leadoff home run mates 292 on the south side with no stranger to negative we feed off it it makes us strong we fight perception by fighting for justice we play louder faster mode the only way we know how so if you're sleeping on us it's time to wake up we're not just here to play the game we're here to change it [Music] [Applause] Leila thank you so much nine two two the Tigers have the lead in the bottom of the fifth Detroit has scored every time at the plate so far tonight Tim Anderson pumps one into centerfield he's one two three gives you socks math question brings in a number of games in this homestand is x spots in the order of aankhon is hidden in 2019 plus the years big hurt plate for the Sox minus the number of the money corresponding number of the month in which Frank was born white sock Jack one on Wednesday can you beat him Pat Sajak's math first correct answer wins a prize off the pride shelf which is fully stocked today with good stuff it's not an easy one tonight oh there are a lot of pitfalls we got a low slight shock soccer jersey that stick talked shirt that Tim Anderson is donated got a headless gnome well that year you are the you're the gnome controller of the prize show that was a tragic accident last year we've broken many gnomes Abreu strike two hey Chuck yeah Steve stone are you psychic yeah I just guess write a lot Chuck yeah because you said earlier in the week that you thought Jose Abreu was gonna have a big week densha yep he goes six for 13 with a home run and seven RBIs in Baltimore he's 2 for 2 tonight is first at-bat you called the pitch that he was gonna get a hit on he drove in a run what else he got well I think that he's probably got a chance to be a good player at third candelario well good news for candelario was he knew this one was fair and that was one that probably he doesn't get Jose at first base but with Tim ahead of him he had the force out at second this is pretty good play drifting to his left able to position himself to get the throw off and Harrison makes it very close at first Jose just barely beats it boy Harrison's just a really solid second baseman he's got a good arm and he's very quick on the transfer I mean when he catches it he gets it away quickly it's usually very accurate and what we've seen is he's got very good range to both sides usually one side or the other will be dominant with Harrison he seems to be good on both sides strike one to James McCann who's flied out twice once to right once to left he's batting in that four spot because he is swinging a sparkling bat right now I mean he tormented Baltimore and Ricky Renteria said before the game today a headache Chuck actually asked the question about whether or not you can earn more playing time as a catcher when these two guys are paired up McCann didn't swing that should have been a strike it was not but the answer was gathers there's a chance you can even though Castillo and McCann have essentially been personal catchers for their own guys this year well one of the things you'd like to do is ride the hot hand and when the guys swinging it well you get him as many at-bats as you can to take advantage to that hot streak and a lot of people will think with macam because he caught Norris that he'll know everything that's coming in so he has a big advantage the advantage is not necessarily knowing what pitches he's gonna throw the advantage is knowing what adjustments he makes when the pitches don't work what's the first thing he's gonna go to if the breaking ball isn't good what's the first thing he's gonna go - if he can't spot it inside a catcher knows that he can anticipate that that's the big advantage with batting against the guy you caught I would imagine that you have a different knowledge of the slight movements of the stuff as well when you're catching it I mean there's a difference between hitting something and catching something and if you're the one that's charged with following the ball and it's path you get to know the movement better than anybody and that's true it should help you - and - it's inside it's three balls and two strikes on McCann with Abreu at first you won't hit the daylights out at one last time that was his double in the third [Applause] high in the sky first base near the trucks 22nd Abreu to second base on a hang-glider from James McCann pretty good piece of base running by Jose because you're really trapped here there's only an out in the inning and so you don't know if you can go because you don't know who's going to get close whether it's Castellanos Oh Harrison Harrison close enough but he couldn't make the play and able to beat the throw with the second this is not that base running do it all that well because you're pretty much hung out to dry also he got a piece of the leg of Harris at second base he was grimacing pretty well there and Harrison's askin where he needs to play for moncada [Applause] as Norah's tries to Neander through this v that just got a little thorny er try quad on yo on who doubled in the third up the left centerfield alleyway [Applause] two strikes Adam Engel is next he's in Furillo Jimenez was injured earlier I didn't know if I'd really liked the idea of the netting with visibility for the fans but when you see something like that that one would have gone screaming into the fans and who knows what would have happened so it's nice to see that fans can relax watch a baseball game and not worry about being dehorned that ball gets away a couple of people would have gotten too horned on that one second and third one out when they invented the wild pitch they had this one in mind because if you can throw it over grinders head it is really a wild pitch he is a very large catcher maybe the biggest in the league and our guy behind the plate who flinched the last time now wants to catch the ball most up he realizes that the net is not going to cause him a whole lot of damage so he can be a lot braver one two Montcalm left field takes hit of raining stars with some guile to evade the tag and it's 9:00 to 4:00 catch her on catcher for the fourth run good slide by James McCann grinder went out to get him he threw the body away and caught it with the iron we'll watch it again and nickcam progressively Shenzhen the throws off target and as Greiner goes in lunges at him James just throws his body away from the tag and beats the play good effort by McCann you don't have to be fast to be a good baserunner and there's an example of it boy that was a tremendous slide by the cans angle takes a strike James McCann has done a lot of good for the Sox very early on this year among Cana with his second hit of the night now is driven in 20 in the early going and it's a wonderful sign to see them from the right side I know things have been overcast for the Sox in the first 24 games of the year but the ray of sunshine is on the left side of the infield number 10 and number 7 are playing like gangbusters this team pretty much knows that they can hit problem has been the pen has not been particularly good and starting pitching is exiting too soon putting even more pressure on a bullpen back end of the pen has been very good column and Herrera angle to right field Castellanos for round number two so James McCann as he's coming down the line in order to know where the ball is and what he needs to do watch Jose Abreu with the right arm that's a lost art in the game people don't really realize that the on-deck hitter has to be the coach he is another coach on the field and he's going to tell him where to slide the direction and Jose did it you you line yourself up exactly in line with the runner so the first thing he sees is he's coming toward you is you and then he's going to look for an arm pointing which way the other Jose did it real well one of the lost things in the game yonder takes a strike 5th inning 9 to 4 a massive offensive outburst so far tonight James having a good laugh about it what's upstairs the tendency is when you score a run you just kind of revel in the fact that you scored to run but Jose realized he had another responsibility and that was to act as a coach he did it gave McCann a guidepost Yonder chops it foul hey let's take a look at statcast presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and it's on yonder Alonso's homerun 422 with his longest of the year went off the bat at nearly 106 and good hang time old coffin corner home run from Yonder Alonso six seconds it's a long time to stay up there anyplace kick 1 & 2 check swing Rory blazer rings him up strike 3 and the innings over socks do get a pair yo on monkeys include roadside assistance cellphone protection unlimited access to fraud specialists but certain restrictions apply could use a a restrictor plate for this game the speeds have been high across the plate in a lot of offense selfie time lean in come on there we go nothing like a live TV selfie zoo strike two on Peterson Carson Fulmer just trying to soak up innings here and help out the bullpen but no off day until the middle of May needs to pile up some outs the way the boys are swinging the bat he would think there is a few more runs on the horizon that get a little closer if Carson can hold down the Tigers Oh - first base side and fair up the chalk it goes clanging back to Kordell and Ryan throws in a double Peterson is two for three this fastball stayed on the outside corner up a little bit higher he would like and Peterson just threads the needle down the line so Rodriguez will be trying any way he can to move Peterson along the third-base even a five-run lead it's a lively ballpark Ron Gardenhire knows that he spent a lot of time managing the twins here and he knows you can't put a stop to your offense here's the thing about the Tigers bullpen they are their 12th in baseball in relief er a but you mentioned the lively ballpark lot of balls in play their 25th and strikeouts per nine so that they don't have those guys that are absolutely gonna torch you out of the bullpen compared to other teams so with riding or getting loose the guy who's on the active roster with Jordan Zimmerman on the il we'll see where this game goes as Anderson throws to first his counterpart is out and one gone here is your socks math winner for today Hannah tag Sox man super Sox fans 79 is the winter 10 games of his homestand in three places Montana has hit that's 30 plus 16 years for the Sox for Frank Thomas 46 - may Frank Thomas born in May that's five 41 is the answer here's what you can pick super Sox fan 79 any one of those prizes with the exception of the headless gnome Steve once again has created a number of broken nose don't worry he's keeping an eye on the shelf he's the gnome on the show what it's all he's got left okay and what has been called a few times tonight but did not get called that time as Hicks got that batting average up over 290 with his two for two and a walk tonight to singles to left that was a rarity by the way he swings at the first pitch normally about half the time those swings at the second pitch bidding for Chuck one ball one strike hashtag quick question today your best way to spend a day off in Chicago we'll get some answers from the Sox clubhouse including one from Nate Jones who is a veteran of Hawk days in Chicago considering how long he's been with the Sox he's the longest tenured Sox player a lot of turnover oh yeah they'll be a bit more left field another left field single for hips Peterson stops at third and they're at the corners with one out for Harrison Hicks just as a good hitter against us and he's got that batting average now have over 300 so this year he's been a good hitter against most teams but doesn't get a chance to get that much play able to keep his stroke off the bench which is one of the reasons why he's still around and he usually does something pretty important against our Sox offensive ly and tonight no exception and he's doing it on Joe Crede e and Jeff Blum's birthday unbelievable doesn't he know what a big day that is for Sonics fans it is a big day and he's raining on the parade there's a bullet strike on the inside corner to Harrison who's grounded the ball three times he is the rare bat which has gently wept tonight for Detroit testing the bounds of the back of the batter's box usually when a guy stands away from the plate like that he invites the ball away because from the pitchers eye looks like the outside corner is a mile long you throw it out there and suddenly that left foot striving toward the plate he gets coverage that way when a guy stands that way normally you can pitch him inside and get him it's got a little Tony Bautista and of nothing looks a little like him yeah he doesn't swing the leg as much as Batista did I mean he was he was all cockeyed at the plate then had to swivel the hips but there's a little bit of that in just some of that certainly another one of those guys when he was growing up they said you too small to play major league baseball whoops we have a couple of five five MVPs in Pedroia and L Tuesday so you don't have to be really big to play this game [Applause] so Dustin Pedroia evidently has become a pitching coach an assistant pitching coach for the Boston Red Sox not in name or title but in the way he's reacting he evidently before Eduardo Rodriguez his last start went up to him and said I like your slider but why don't you try this grip and Eduardo Rodriguez at one of his best starts of the season and he used it in game that's a guy who's been around the game for long enough they just knows stuff and and Petey went to him he said look use this and he did he did I used to love to talk to hitters and ask them if you were facing me how would you approach me what would you do in certain situations because the hitters will tell you things you can't know as a pitcher and if you talk to enough of them it improves you that's the object of this game come to the ballpark every day and get half a percent better hey no Tony Randazzo says he did not swing he came awfully close though helps they have a short stroke if you're gonna do this could have been called out on that but was not Ricky Renteria appealed from the dugout the Plagueis swing but that's it you're not gonna you're not gonna Stoke that fire I'm not going on that crusade tonight nope announcers for definition of check swing Lobby is off tonight Harrison in the air to left field to make the catch Peterson tags and scores and it's a sacrifice fly for Josh Harrison to put the Tigers in double figures time now to take a look at our mobile connection to the game we went through around baseball with t-mobile Vlad Guerrero jr. is in the big leagues for the Toronto Blue Jays his father was such a great player in his debut he go he's got his first career hit and it comes against Oakland Hannah Blue Jays win we have so much information these days that they actually said that he hit a bomb in the pregame in batting practice he had a bomb which is I mean irrelevant of course and then one for four in the real game but I guess they're debating whether he'll hit 30 home runs from here on out he's got pretty big power that is a really strong young man oh yeah unlike his dad who was very tall and lean he's really wide and really strong there's a great picture floating around Twitter the reporter Marlee Rivera posted a picture of Vlad Guerrero jr. having a meal with his grandmother having breakfast with his grandmother and Vlad jr. was wearing dad's expose Jersey was a really cool baseball thing on the day of his debut one one and that's two balls and a strike Andres and grinders who struck out homered in struck out richard dreyfuss look-alike contest winner here tonight foul first-base side from brighter Oh had the opportunity and just tips his hat to the crowd the acknowledgement of the ball we all want to play really well and sometimes this happens a little short a legendary fall though helmet goes flying strike three good breaking ball from Carson Fulmer and that will do it 10th strikeout for Sox pitching on the south side we have our old mentality it's an attitude and praise by legends and instilled in the future we play louder faster both the only way we know how and we don't stop because you never know when one hit one pitch one moment can change everything we're not just here to play the game we're here to change it after every home game during the break the ball guy who made that valiant effort with signing autographs so you can be a star today they appreciate the effort I mean Sox fans are like that you can't always get a done button they certainly appreciate the effort new pitcher for the tiger is Zack riding her tiger a tall right-hander and that is the sum total of his career 29 games an airplane like er a and a 1 and O record thank you shot foul by Jose Ron donut checks his bad clicking kissed his bad after checking it make sure it's okay so for Nora's five innings ten hits four earned runs two walks five strikeouts and he is in line for the win in the air right field well struck Castellanos at the wall a bullpen torpedo from a Jose Rondo and 10:00 to 5:00 just keep pecking away and there's some runs to be scored on this knife that winds still blowing out toward right although it settled down somewhat the ball still very lively and Rondon his second home run of the year our port home run replay that high fastball taken the other way Hosea's been very good off the bench for the sox head of defensive gem this evening and now gets him within five Ryan Cordell Oh for one a walk first pitch move hold high ball one Jose celebrating in the dugout and rightfully so Sox hoping to make it a comeback a lot of time left in this game man takes a strike one of one there's some nights where the other team gets off to that big start Chase's your starter and you feel there you got no chance at rest of the way tonight didn't feel that way tonight was one where you knew a lot of runs would be scored just a question of trying to hold down the Tigers long enough for the offense to make it a good game yeah again I mean right now riding or is the guy who just came up and so Ron Gardenhire is essentially trying to steal some some outs one to client takes outside and low two balls two strikes well normally you come out of a four-game series in Fenway Park and you're gonna go through some of your bullpen the Red Sox aren't quite in high gear right now but they're a very good baseball team and they're going to get a whole lot better it's just a question for them at the starting pitchers working their way out of what has been an early season struggling challenge to the fastball strike three as we take a look at our high-speed action replay it's powered by Xfinity it's a base hit for Tim Anderson after this strike down he struck out in the third but the strike out really doesn't matter a whole lot because there was a marriage proposal going on behind the strikeout so Tim got a single later in the game they got engaged before his head how about that a memorable night at the ballpark amend I remember the outcome of the game but they will remember a good part of this game well we hope for their sake but the end of the Advanta Nolan in some way it's not like rain on your wedding day I hope that if you get engaged during a strikeout one oh one ball one strike on Garcia Zach reinecker gave up a leadoff home Rhonda Jose Rondon what are the socks have in store for him the remainder of this inning outside two balls and a strike Tigers have scored in every inning two in the first one in the second two in the third three of the fourth one in the fifth one of the six it's been done before it just hasn't been done too often Garcia tacks it to left Peterson bat keys at the warning track it's off his blog but dello double for larry garcia Doble is veccio this one slicing away from Peterson who gave it a good run and a good try when Lori realized that he was staying apart he starts to turn it on Peterson does a nice job of getting to it the ball hits off he smashes into Modelo sign and gets the ball back in but not before Garcia winds up at second base with his second hit of the night socks are putting their gloves on for a late inning fight Anderson against Ron eager Tim one for three first pitch ball one the only one out in the inning and really the meat of the order coming up you want to see them cash in at least the one run the Orient scoring position nobody paying attention to him at second base he's getting an enormous lead time now for what to chuck fine presented by honda city oh I found two special people Kevin and Ally you are now newlyweds how does it want newly oats you're engaged excuse me how did you pop the question what was the plan here I just wanted to be at the Sox game our first date was a year ago tomorrow so when we was here at the Sox games I wanted to be pretty similar and yeah this today was the day you were nervous you were waiting for it to come on the jumbotron heads down ten to six maybe an engagement present comeback is on the way lively night at the ballpark lots of runs still to be scored and the boys are getting closer a four run deficit Tim in scoring position a line drive double down the line his second hit of the night he drives in his 15th run of the year and we'll take a look at the reaction of the newly engaged couple Chuck tell it that said present for now that is your present for now but by the way since I've got here all these runs have started to score and people want me to not leave until this ends but back to these guys so first up let's see the ring that's beautiful you guys did a good job here how exciting how surprised I was very surprised and how long were you planning this out since November November watch 3010 pretending in this interview might last the rest of the night if they keep playing like this so you guys have a date I mean you've only had all of 45 minutes to figure this out yeah we're just soaking it in tonight and Holi we start planning it congratulations or guys should I just stick around here until this rally you have to you can't leave you have to do what you're doing stay right there don't move I'm not moving at all run number five Jose has had quite a night already he's driven in three our fort home run replay is a towering flyball over the centerfield wall [Applause] Jones with the try but gums up a little short and the bombs bursting in air [Applause] [Music] that is the luckiest couple that we've ever had they are a good luck charm they got to get engaged every night [Music] [Applause] how about that right again really getting peppered in this one check with the happy couple watching lots of run-scorer and it's a two-run game as the boys come roaring back in this one y'all are playing the drums the owner wants to get in the ring James McCann against his former team first pitch ball one you have to imagine the heartbeat is amped for Zach riding her right now he may be erratic he's run into a buzzsaw here in the sixth James takes a strike one avoir we got most common next he's 2 for 3 Sox were down 10 to 4 this is a four run inning anyone will turn around from the left side which has been his power side this year Mikael struction into centerfield and suddenly the tying run is coming to the plate in the sixth and those folks could be remembering both the score and the engagement that's gonna do it for riding her he gets the hook and the Sox continued to plunge deeper into Ron Gardenhire --zz relief score [Music] what a night at the ballpark so far and there's a lot of time left folks 10:00 to 8:00 bottoms fresh up a thrilling home opener tune in tomorrow night to watch the red stars take on the Seattle reign FC coverage begins at 7:00 p.m. on NBC Sports Chicago and our lakeside bank call to the pen his drew Verhagen on for the eighth time er a an even nine Ridinger got one out and gave up five hits that ratio is not good monk on Harrison and a right-field McCann Burstein a third Castellanos dropped it on the turn and the lead run is coming up yo-yo is 3 for 4 that's five straight hits and no cheapies in the bunch a high fastball yuan goes up and gets it it's been so good tonight this one heels the carom that allowed McCann to go to third runners at the corners and only one and the socks are gonna pinch-hit Nikki Del Monico has grabbed a bat he'll hit for Adam angle on the spot that aloy Jimenez was in earlier tonight before he sprained his ankle Nikki will bat with first and third and one out [Music] Chuck guard fine still hanging out I'm not leaving these two you can't believe I'm right here in the middle of a rally I'm not the most superstitious guy but in the middle of a rally you can't leave no absolutely not especially when those folks go home and they find Chuck in their living room they're gonna really remember this night first of all the picking is in the dirt ball number one [Applause] Nikki Del Monico up just a couple of days ago and the reception he got in the Sox clubhouse was high-level excitement very well liked and a big spot for Nikki right here tucked in on the inside corner one and one important for you on to get a good secondary lead at first base because somehow he's got to get close enough to the pivot man on a ground ball to make sure they don't turn to because that's a big run at third base and it would get the Sox within one in the turn down Singh behind the plate there goes Moncada he's to second no double play in order anymore that's why you get the secondary lead that's it and this one hits off the glove bounced away [Applause] so there's no reason that McCann's not gonna scoring that because he can't he doesn't know how far that's gonna drift away but moncada can see it all the way so he takes the DoublePlay out of the equation if Nikki was your traffic cop everybody would have hit each other in the intersection but that's neither here nor there [Applause] feel this along Rodriguez second base McCain scores Moncada to third it is a tornado of offense in the 6th and the winds are dying down six straight hits chuck is still there the boy services are run at 10 tonight Nikki doesn't get a whole lot of this one but gets enough of it to take it over Harrison's head Rodriguez out there to try to make the play also he can't get it [Applause] maybe the play makes his way to second this was an eight to one score for the Tigers as of the end of the top of the fourth and Yonder Alonso gets the intentional walk here so the Tigers suddenly are thrust into happy to play for a double play as Nick he's got his first double of the year and the Sox end up the tenth hitter of the inning against tiger pitching debts in tatters right now Ron Dolan takes ball number one [Applause] what an outrageous sixth in it well starting out this inning with the opposite field home run you really didn't know how is going to play out but right now it's been wildly entertaining [Applause] 100se takes high two balls no strikes bases-loaded moncada Delmonico yonder one down bottom of the sixth bases-loaded Rondon takes long extra and the Tigers who had done everything but sold this game away our one pitch out of his own from being leveled at Tim in the sixth you have to love baseball you got a stand Juxt and and everyone's damning three balls no strikes takes one down the middle and the hush falls over the crowd that was here for fireworks they all thought they might only get it after the game boy were they wrong six straight hits interrupted by an intentional walk three balls and a strike Verhagen two Rondon and throws to first and DoublePlay a line drive double play and the inning is over the Sox put up a nickel it could have been born but not much more a happy couple a couple more runs from home safe back Nick drops in and suddenly it's a 10-9 game with 30 hits ludicrous night at the ballpark you got a lot of text to respond to that happy couple over there that's those are some loaded up cell phones but 10:00 to 9:00 after 6:00 tonight 30 combined hits and Nate Jones here's the ball Nate Jones in now a one-run game on to the 13th time he's been throwing it better and better and this becomes very important shut down the Tigers turn it back over to the offense which is in high gear and Leary Garcia who had been in centerfield he's back in centerfield and Nikki Del Monico he stays in the game in left field later it looked like he was going to right field for a second there he just moving with the shift to the defense from Jacoby Jones but you don't see it often that a guy leaves center field then returns in the same game 1o filed away one ball and one strike on Jacoby Jones so the Sox had the bases loaded the line out DoublePlay ends the inning but 10 batters in the inning seven hits five runs and that's the lay of the land is Nate Jones enters tonight 1 & 2 here is the line out on the double play Harrison's throw to first watch did he ever kick the bag no he's not on the bag at all and that's I mean he didn't touch the bag but you don't think he kicked it slightly on the back end of it before the hand got in there didn't look like it but who knows maybe not enough to appeal outside two balls two strikes here's one more look at it slow it down the question is and you can't really see here if the right foot has it but the left foot never hit the bag maybe there that on the way by on that last movement again it's one of those calls at probably looking at it you couldn't get a definitive angle on it it would have been tough to overturn you'd imagine it just if you're the man at first that's one that you can't get doubled up on the line drive because you're not going anywhere but second base anyway that's a clogged base path so now it's incumbent on the Sox to try to get some of that energy back next time they have the bats down ten to nine here two and two from Nate Jones trying to keep up it is Nate and Jacoby Jones going at it three - why - third souvenir for some happy fans at its Jones vs Jones so you were jonesing for a split screen three two is in the dirt ball for a leadoff walk to Jacoby Jones here in the seventh hey grab your friends and head to the park for bleachers and brews presented by Budweiser get one bleacher seat and two beers for just $22 all season long you got to be 21 and over with a valid ID to purchase tickets visit white sox calm / brew and enter promo code brew [Music] Jamie candelario with one on and nobody out question is will Jacoby Jones think about running here it's got excellent speed Nate's gonna have to spot his fastball tonight because he doesn't have his usual big fastball just one of those nights that fastball has been consistently at 93 he's had a little bit better gas normally 93 for a swinging strike candelario has got a hit in 10 of his last 12 so he's swinging a better bat than when we first saw the Tigers last weekend candelario from either side of the plate just cannot get the head out on good inside fastball Jacoby Jones at first owned one for candelario Jones does not run and there is strike two from Nate at 94 to the corner Owen - pretty good pitch that one at the knees shaved off the outside corner and he's well ahead this time owing to and he steps off [Music] Castellanos next then Miguel Cabrera dangerous part of the order for Detroit although every part of every order tonight has been dangerous with 19 runs and 30 hits can the block socks in the bottom of the seventh will bring up cordell Garcia and Anderson if you just joined us where you've been and a couple things socks were down big scored five in the sixth after two in the fifth also alloy Jimenez came out early in the game in the third as he collided with the wall and sprained his ankle [Applause] x-rays were negative for a break for alloy jimenez he will be reevaluated tomorrow socks been trying to stop Detroit who scored in every inning so far the dirt again McCann thought about foiling a throat of first and Jones was back - and - that's a good play by James because he has to shift to his right that slider breaking hard down and in and he's able to not only control it but catches it and thinks about the throw to first base I think if he had a better grip of the ball he makes it but that's a spectacular stop let alone thinking about making the throw to 2 in the year very SIA in center is underneath and he makes the catch for out number one let's go around Major League Baseball and get a late inning snack here this was Cincinnati and Atlanta it was last night Nick Markakis foul territory Jesse Winker goes to make the play and also a snack was on his mind the fan offered he said look have some and he declined he was picking around didn't like the toppings and forget about it beggars can't be choosers especially during the course of the game he didn't have a chance to order it so I the fan just offered it which was kind of nice of him it's not like you're going back into the outfield somebody's gonna bring you a plate of nachos with the ingredients you were looking for so you either eat it or you dog as is Castellanos in the crumpled foul third-base side socks with a five-run sixth inning to draw within one last pitch by nate was where you want to stay on Castellanos because it sets up the hard slider away if you can establish that you can get a fastball inside Castellanos fouled it off but he didn't have any contact and now McCann wants to go away fouled away oh and to here's the last foul ball which evidently there's a magnitude Chuck magnet in the ball duck Chuck oh I ducked hashtag duck Chuck yeah I have the ball actually you do I do here it is look at it I'd like to see it ready three take three yardage nice split finger I'm throwing a lefty split finger right now get Tom Hoover to sign it maybe I will camber bad down there ball in two strikes their new segment what did the ball find presented by honda city [Applause] ball and two strikes on Castellanos high fastball what you got here I got the low slider make his strength work against him go down out of the zone he's a low ball hitter but lower than low is a good pitch it was for strike three Castellanos wiped away to gone [Applause] that's a good slider and again when you get a lowball hitter you go down out of the zone heat identifies it as a low pitch that he likes this one just disappears as does Castellanos two out for Miguel Cabrera Nate Jones locking eyes with Jacoby Jones first one called ball one that high strike just has not been there later in the game Cory Blazers not calling that one he'll give you the low one he's not gonna give you the high one which is actually that's what you would prefer if you're gonna get one cuz yeah if you're gonna get high strikes eventually one's gonna leave the yard you'd rather have you have them give you the low strike one owed on the ground third-base side Montana's got to go from the foul territory and he's not gonna get it there he had a shot at him but that is a long road for Yohan moncada they shipped well away because Cabrera's not been pulling the ball lately however he does this time and you on doing the best he can as Las Diaz says it is indeed a fair ball a good effort here comes Ricky [Music] [Applause] [Music] it's two bases away from his triple for the cycle Miguel Cabrera probably thinking that not only is his first four hit game of the season but that's one of the few infield hits he's going to get so Nate Jones will come out and as he does will step out Kelvin Herrera coming in will be back watch every out-of-market regular-season game live or on-demand with MLB TV your subscription includes MLB at bat premium allowing you to stream live baseball runners at first and second on for the 12th time he are a of 169 one out to get in the inning and it's left to Herrera his first pitch bounced left side moncada gathers and throws to second Herrera does when he's called upon for one-run game Sox get it back [Music] hi it's Jan from Toyota as part of your community we're here to help you during these challenging times keeping your Toyota safe and reliable is important especially right now many of our service centers are open schedule service online and drop off and pick up your vehicle with no contact need to replace your old vehicle most wheeler dealers offer online shopping and will defer your first payment for 90 days we're here for you contact your local Toyota dealer to see how they can help Toyota [Music] it ain't over yet [Music] Chuck carbine and the new pitcher Reid Garrett on for the 8th time he really hasn't given up anything to this point but if you're patient obviously with seven walks in eight and two thirds you might get a free pass that would represent the tying run in this one run Detroit lead [Applause] Bryan Cordell looks at ball one Sox sent up ten batters in the 6th inning an inning that still ended with all those hitters in a double play Ryan fouls it off one ball one strike [Applause] Carson Fulmer tonight by the way for the Sox help clean up three innings he gave up a couple of runs they certainly did help out the bullpen and Cordell goes down one at two read Garrett the 26 year old on a Virginia Military Institute in his first major league season fastball sliders what you get that's a slider and it's brushed fowl third-base side he's got a good arm he's got a big fastball but location has been a problem when he gets it over he's tough to hit [Applause] two balls two strikes Garrett hadn't thrown for four days until Wednesday he threw 25 pitches against the Red Sox on Wednesday he was off yesterday [Applause] to to check swing it's down three and two Chuck yeah we're looking at a very taxed Tigers bullpen they pitched five innings yesterday they pitched three innings on Wednesday and then Tuesday was a doubleheader in Boston six morning's so 14 innings pitched since Tuesday and they need to go four more here tonight at least Kordell flipped it in and out of the glove it fell out of the glove Ryan was frustrated he thought he had struck out but instead he got a piece of it and stays alive I think he was as frustrated for missing a fastball right down the middle I mean this is right there and fortunately grindr's glove cannot contain it and Ryan has another shot that was Center cut [Applause] three and two from garrett ryan hits it high in the air second base harrison calls for it and harrison makes the catch the iron throne returns to guaranteed raid field for the final time Monday May 13 join us for Game of Thrones diaper Sox in the Indians 7:10 p.m. get your tickets at White Sox dot-com today and sadly winter is coming it seems over the weekend it'll be here tomorrow in full force lot to talk over in this game tonight Sox with a five-run sixth to in the fifth one in the fourth after being down 8 to 1 tonight maori Garcia on the ground up the middle Harrison pinball's it but can't control it and the tying runs it for his base Garcia with his third hit [Applause] nice attempt by Harrison at second base is that a good night with the glove but this one caroms off the glove again for the second time and there's a tying run aboard with very good speed Greiner is one of the best in the business of throwing out would-be base stealers Leary has good speed but the man behind the plate has been very good this year Tim Anderson Sox in the sixth inning had six consecutive hits one more extra-base hit could be lethal to the Tigers lead Tim cracks it to right-center field up the other way Jones cuts it up see it a turn runners at the quarter with one down in the seventh inning there was a really good play by Jacoby Jones in center field because if this one gets by it's a tie game he comes across we can't score but also he gets it back in quickly to Harrison and it keeps Tim at first base for Tim Anderson tonight our stats with Lowe's multi-hit games all over the board for the Sox 4-3 hit games and a pair of two hit games the total is 19 and they hit column for the White Sox tonight and here is Jose moot blasted a two-run homer in the sixth Sox were down seven after three and a half and Jose hits it in the air [Music] Peterson at the warning track in the wall take the lead second home run for a preview and a ridiculous night just got a lot for fun six runs driven in tonight by Jose Abreu and a towering homerun Sox lead by a pair what a monumental comeback this has been but still some work to be done halation by the fans the dugout on the 20th hit of the night the Sox have finally taken the lead now they want to take a look to see I believe if a fan might have interfered with it so their hires are going to go they're going to talk to New York and find out if in fact they did but [Applause] they will talk to Chelsea Market in New York it is a Ford home run replay for now and let's hope it stays that way Jose Abreu this is a slider that hangs right in the middle of the plate and he doesn't get all of it but he appeared to get enough of it that's a whole shirt but they're looking at I'm not sure what Ron Gardenhire said but there's no interference because nobody touched it and by the way you always have to be Gumby to be able to reach out into fair territory to interfere with that one unless they're saying it didn't go over win it then it bounced and then they reached I mean that's that's a home run it's not now there's a question about whether or not the runners passed one another on the base path we're being told so we'll take a look at the base runners don't know why that would have happened but the Sox will have to endure this sequence so Ron Gardenhire is gonna wait this out sore the size let's see is there a case watch Abreu at first base did he pass him are they parallel I mean this is Wow I mean what a wild thing that would be the question is where they parallel or did he pass him well that's gonna see how the Music City miracle that we're looking at that's going to be really hard to tell and I'm not sure if they have a definitive angle on whether he passed him or not he did test Wow so let's see what the result of the play is where they put the runners on real Ricky Renteria comes out to argue the umpires are gonna have to talk it over I would imagine they would just call Jose out but let's see the umpires are gonna have to talk it over and discuss where the runners are gonna go [Applause] so two runs do exactly what it is two runs score the ball leaves the park the Sox still have the lead and two are out and the question is does Jose have a single that's right instead of his second home run I'm thinking he has a single and the run-scorer that's how excitable this team is it's going to be two out McCann is a check swing and strike one [Applause] so 11 to 10 the Sox still have the lead this bizarre game has just gotten bizarre Yuri bizarre yeah we do need new words in this game don't we Jesus has been some game so it's 11 to 10 socks on a home run that wasn't that now Jose is reenacting it with Tim [Applause] high-fives all over the place but you certainly hope that the Tigers don't score a run because Wolf when's the last time you saw that I can't remember especially in a situation like that I mean I know there's a Grand Slam single in the history books but that was this is this has been quite the game here you can't blame the Sox for being real excited on a comeback but 11 to 10 the score 2 out 2 & 2 on McCann outside three balls and two strikes [Applause] three balls two strikes McCann pumps it foul so Jose Abreu with a home run to left he passes Tim Anderson on the base path and two runs still come home there are two out in the inning there are six outs to get four Herrera and column a out of the bullpen now the good news is Herrera only had to throw one pitch in [Applause] order to get the final out of his seventh James McCann really having some battling at-bats recently that's one of the reasons why he's in the fourth spot in this batting order had a great ball tomorrow he's come in with a couple of hits and two runs scored tonight and a good battle here with Garrett [Applause] three and two that breaks inside to walk the inning continues [Applause] I hate this this night was pretty low alloy jimenez gets hurt Sox are down seven and suddenly it's 11 to 10 with two out in the seventh inning here comes Ron Guardium slow walk to the mound for Ron Gardenhire it looks like that is gonna be it for Gerrit so the parade out of the pen continued so Daniel stump is on James McCann is at first the Sox now have a lead to protect that they hope can grow after trailing 8 to 1 [Applause] stump to Moncada with strike one Tigers in the eighth lap rodriguez hicks and harrison coming up you'd imagine to face Herrera who finished the seventh and would come out for the eighth you'd think he would finish the eighth with column a coming out of the night but we'll see runner goes McCann ten second base he say that's just heads-up baserunning and I told you earlier when he made the great slide at the plate away from Greiner that you don't have to be fast to be a good baserunner and when stuff doesn't pay attention cans off to the races he beats the play easily against the guy who throws it real well but he stole that one on stump I got the right side wide open McCann and second moncada takes the ball in the dirt [Applause] two and one from stump the boat takes strike two and two I believe officially that is gonna go as a single and two RBIs for a brayer giving him five for the night two and two three balls two strikes [Applause] Jones has a pretty good arm in centerfield Castellanos a decent Armand right but he's a converted third baseman so NIC capper is gonna run on everybody three two wrap to shortstop rock begins at the first and does beat you on Montano but the Sox have taken the lead out of nowhere in a wild and wacky night at the ballpark this one is gone but so is Jose for passing Anderson a shirt cannot contain that it's a big night on the latest edition of the Sox talk podcast Chuck Garr fine breaks down what's going on with Yvonne Nova and the rest of the rotation also if Dylan sees could be the Sox answer sooner rather than later visit NBC sports Chicago comm / podcast to subscribe and listen today Ronnie Rodriguez John Hicks Josh Harrison your three scheduled batters here in the 8th the Sox have taken the lead from the depths of the cellar of this game trailing 8 to 1 after three and a half and Herrera with strike one Rodrigues three ground balls and a strike out tonight fouled away on to want Ronnie Rodriguez pretty much who keep it away from Rodriguez and you're gonna be okay no balls two strikes Rodriguez hits him well to left field in this ball games time a two strike home run for Ronnie Rodriguez here in the eighth then appeared to be a hanging breaking ball that down low and to that one hung in the middle and Rodriguez hit a home run his second home run of the year his fourth driven in and it's a tie game there's a spinning breaking ball that doesn't do much except leave the ballpark our fourth home run replay and just like that offense will be needed now the runners passing each other on the base path is absolutely huge in this game as Moreira only allows his third earned run of the year a braid past Anderson for out number two of that 17 we tied at 11 the Tigers only have not scored in the seventh the Sox only have not scored in the second and third one and one Herrera - Hicks who's not made an out tonight a reckless game it's watching it's been a wild one and with lots of twists and turns and still a few more to be had in this one a ball and two strikes for Hicks and he clubs it foul right side well you mentioned if the Tigers got in very late and you wonder if this game goes longer and longer just timewise not even talking about extra innings but longer and longer you wonder if that starts to affect the legs of the team that traveled rather than had the off day typically not no you can't you never yep it's one of those things now both of these teams are pretty charged up the Sox because they've come back the Tigers because they've squandered the lead and they've come back so you got two teams dead even staring one another in the eye and still lots of outs to be had three and two on Hicks that one got the shin guard of James McCann he's feeling the effects of that one even with the shin guard that hurts [Applause] with like foot maybe inside part for the right foot perhaps hopefully more shin guard than foot wide of third-hand foul Chuck man [Applause] hits keep coming over there I'm a magnet for everything tonight yeah you should go hang out with the engaged couple again it's safer over there I know by the way I did say they have to now invite me to their wedding somebody on Twitter said you have to get ordained and officiate their wedding so maybe go a little farther three two fouled away there's the couple that got engaged and of course they're gonna stay till the end tonight three and two for Hicks who's got three singles to left and a walk in the air foul right side Hicks is proving pesky he's had some battling at-bats this evening [Applause] this game has ping-pong back and forth over the last couple of innings as the Sox got 5 in the 6th looked like it was going to be more bases-loaded line drive DoublePlay then the homer in the home 7 when the runners passing each other and this ball sliced down the right-field line and foul [Applause] you can't imagine that something normal normal will end tonight's game it's got to be something ghastly well this is a battling at-bat by Hicks he's about to see his eleventh pitch it's ball four it is a walk and here are the answers to quick question brought to you by American sale you know going out and seeing the movies at night and the place where the bowling alleys right next door downtown I can't remember the name of it but that was a good place but now with the kiddos it's going to playgrounds doing some sprint work you know staying in shape with the conditioning but that's definitely the best way spending off days with the fans I really want a fish so get out throw in the big lake and try it so heard they got some really big fish out there so I wanted Josh osich with his newfound home just over here from a couple of different spots in spring training hashtag quick question what you would do to spend an off day in Chicago there was a meeting at the mound Hicks over at first Harris in the batter were tied at 11 in the top of the eighth inning and Harrison who's pounded three on the ground and then one sac fly seems to be an ideal candidate for another ground ball he shows bunt that was a strike and Cory blazer just didn't give it Harrison pulled it back but the pitch was entirely in the zone yeah that's a strike and it should be a strike and it's not I think that James is mentioning to Cory that that ball had the whole plate long as you're looking at the pitcher you could pretty much say a lot of things to umpires at home yeah when you turn then it starts to look like you're showing them up and that becomes a problem for them and for you there's a bunch opt foul one ball one strike to Harrison with Greiner next Jose Abreu so far tonight is driven in five it would have been six but he passed Tim Anderson on the base path count 1 and Wanda Harrison socks in the home eight will bring up Delmonico Alonso and Rondon get by the Tigers in the top of the eighth first who tied the game on the Ronnie Rodriguez home run to lead the inning off on a two strike pitch another bunt back to the mountain herrera's got to play it second and he cuts down the lead runner Hicks is out at second base one gone runner at first the escape has lost its mind good solid play by Kelvin is this Paul's just bunted too hard he sees the play all the way as he's turning to get in position makes a pinpoint throw to Tim they get the lead runner [Applause] one on one out Grayson Greiner whose homer in the third is what knocked aloy jiménez out of the game he's also struck out three times Jimenez went into the wall hard thinking about trying to rob the home run he stuck his foot into the wall and sprained his ankle so he came out in the third Adam angle was in Del Monico pinch-hit for him so the Sox now on the bench only have two remaining options and ones the reserved catcher Welington Castillo phone tune from our era so Grindr doesn't get right-handed breaking balls at all he struck out three times tonight but the breaking ball so far from Herrera has not been good tonight you see what James McCann who was well aware of what Kelvin has goes to it's a change again faints inside one ball two strikes [Applause] about half the balls Greiner hits our ground balls which is rare in this day and age he is not hit one yet today [Applause] outside fastball [Applause] outfield straightaway there is a hole on the right side with Rondon playing up the middle as we look in at James McCann one two upstairs for the fastball 2 & 2 race and brighter Kelvin Herrera Harrison at first one out a homerun already the inning Grider strikes out his fourth punch out of the game that was a changeup even though it was up in the zone it was not location it was velocity that fooled Greiner [Applause] took on Jacoby Jones is out Nikko Goodrem is in he hit the ball quite hard in the series at Comerica Park against the Sox so good running in for Jones he was getting the night off tonight against a very tough left her lefty in Carlos pradhan although Carlos did not have it so the night off comes to an end is Goodrem who's got some pop steps in against Herrera good room for his pitch ball one here are the four hits that Nico Goodrem had and they all are against fastballs red dot four seam fastball orange dot two seam fastball that's where he tormented the Sox in that series in Detroit everything in the zone everything of fastball strike one and one [Applause] Herrera to goodra Harrison at first Goodrem flinches but takes a ball low 2 & 1 socks got 5 in the 6th - in the seventh - and the fifth one to the fourth all after trailing 8 to 1 post 3 & a half Harrison at first Goodrem bouncing ball left side of the infield mata whips it for out number three and the Sox will try to retake the lead when we come back 1111 the game has changed but our strength and community never will our passion will help us do this we will cheer as one again southside baby hang in that because no matter how far apart we are now we will come together to change the game [Music] lalla thank you very much just your average 35 hit 22 Ron night first pitch Daniel stump Nikki Delmonico ball one new center fielder is Niko Goodrem as expected he pinch-hit for Jacoby Jones Nikki takes outside two balls no strikes nine homers in 2017 eight last year for Nikki Stumpf is on for two hitters and then he legs at the ballgame Nikki and yonder that one pretty hittable and the Bolton up and going is Joe Jimenez check swing foul from Nikki Delmonico two balls two strikes Nikki little frustrated he couldn't get his hands out of the way that really wasn't a swing but watch it again he knows it's out of the zone he can't check it up and unfortunately it hits the bat and now they shift again in the infield to the pull side Nikki swings through strike three on a slider from stump and one down here's Yonder Alonso who homered in the fourth against the left-hander Norris how will this game and who will be the hero of a long road tonight Goddard is second base in Harrison around number two [Applause] you wouldn't believe they'd let the lefty bass Rondo near Cubs Gardenhire [Music] couldn't even finish my sentence one inning for Daniel stump no runs one strikeout Joe Jimenez will come in to face Jose Rondon 1111 with two out in the eighth come back with us you know you can't as Joe Jimenez on for the 12th time er a up close to five 12 strikeouts and nine and a third that's good the six walks are not and he's got two outs here in the bottom of the eighth inning bases clean in a tie ballgame if he missed it early on LOA Havana has left this game in the third this is a long fly ball from Grayson Greiner watch him Mena's his leg stick into the big din and he went down as he sprained that ankle it's the right ankle for alloy Jimenez 22 runs 35 hits later there's nothing decided in this one as Alex Colome comes into the ball game to try to shut down the Tigers and turn it over to the offense he's been thrown at pretty well er a of 279 for for four and save opportunities trying to get a win tonight so with the right-hander sitting just 143 he'll look in at a left-hander to lead it off it's the rare left-hander for the Tigers the switch hitter Jamie candelario column has only given up three earned runs all year two of those unsolo homers column a two candelario first in the ninth and there's ball one the Sox were down 8 to 1 after three and a half Tigers scored in their first six trips at bat then one more in the eighth there's a strike there's a cutter and that had some nasty movement to it cutter at 90 is pretty tough to handle especially to keep it inside to candelario who doesn't get the head of the bat out real well on anything inside from either side claim the pole is a left-hand hitter but the outfield is pretty much straight away clothes Fitch didn't get it two balls and a strike on candelario Sox and tigers in the series opener scheduled for a 610 start tomorrow then a 110 on Sunday [Applause] pop foul third-base side two and two upcoming schedule on this home stand for the Sox it's three with the Tigers and three with the O's who just took two of three misak's at Camden Yards who has the hammer to finish off this very pesky nail of a game brush foul off the plate by candelario who singled and scored in the second inning remember the second inning you know it was a while ago it was yeah three plus hours ago but very entertaining game as a high-scoring game usually is but this is an unusual high-scoring game because of all the things that happened within it to get to 11 to 11 just an outlandish night at the ballpark one of those nights said if you're at your first game and somebody's trying to explain the game of baseball to you it's very difficult on them because they have a lot of questions and they're all valid questions why did he pass him on the home run I don't know there's lots of things that went on that don't usually happen which makes his game wonderfully unpredictable it's why it's our beautiful pastime in this nation 2 & 2 on candelario from column a and he took ball three getting a little chillier here at the park but he was shaking off the signs on behalf of Colome looked like he shook the fastball three and two from Alex Colome the jammer candelario payoff comin he missed outside it's ball four leadoff ninth-inning walk for the Tigers third baseman [Music] Nicolas Castellanos who struck out the last two times in the fifth and in the seventh outfield a little deeper than normal Lera Garcia a couple of steps to the right of center if you pan around we show you the defense leery drifting a little bit more into right-center Colome guns in a strike at 94 Castilla knows was really disappointed earlier with two pitches he felt like he caught the short end of the strike zone from Cory blazer in one of those two strike outs oh and one two casiano zoo swings through a low-cut her own - that's pretty much how he struck out earlier in the ballgame same thing a good slider that was low and out of the zone Alex Colome former closer of Tampa Bay former Seattle Mariner briefly now the ninth-inning guy for the Sox the high leverage guy Oh - he checked his swing Castellanos laid off 1 & 2 taking looked down at Dave Clark at third base going through his set of signs here's a look at Dave a long time long time major league hitter good pinch-hitter in his later years the Dave Clark 25 third one of those [Applause] 1 & 2 Castellanos with more willpower than Colome expected 2 & 2 by the way the Brewers and Mets are in the fifth inning at Citi Field they started at 8:52 Central time due to rain but they may lap us line for two so far yes indeed two and two on Castillo dos candelario at first down low [Applause] cannot afford a walk here with miguel cabrera looming you'd love to see him somehow entice Castellanos to hit the ball on the ground for the first time tonight Colome was asking for a new baseball and then looked like he got waved off on that request three and two - Castellanos on the ground left side Anderson keeps and secures out number one that is a whale of a play from Tim Anderson with a life raft for the inning good turn out to be a game saver candelario doesn't have particularly good speed but anderson and a rocket like arm that's about as good as you'll see this one ticketed for left field tim has other ideas good solid throw get the force out and a huge out it is oh that's a brilliant play Steve he's he's got as much range as anybody around as strong an arm as anybody around and it's all coming together still a very young man still haven't seen his ceiling so now the man in the black hat is Miguel Cabrera who's four for five tonight and four for six career against column a with a couple of homers on the ground Tim Jose the socks need one to finish this epic when we come back [Music] [Applause] [Music] hi it's Jan from Toyota as part of your community we're here to help you during these challenging times keeping your Toyota safe and reliable is important especially right now many of our service centers are open schedule service online and drop off and pick up your vehicle with no contact need to replace your old vehicle most wheeler dealers offer online shopping and will defer your first payment for 90 days we're here for you contact your local Toyota dealer to see how they can help Toyota [Music] turned into another single and Cordell leads it off Bryan Cordell takes what's called ball one it's been a ball all night Cory bladers just not calling the high strike and he didn't call it early he's not gonna call it late 11 11 in the ninth Ryan Cordell has been full of big home runs for the Sox and there he swings through a fastball one on one the Sox went 1 2 3 in the 8th that was our first for either team 1 2 3 inning of the game pretty amazing and it took two pitchers breaking ball snaps in for strike two from Jimenez the sixth pitcher utilized by the Tigers tonight falling two strikes from Jimenez the 24 year old to Cordell with a called ball - that was nearly a keyhole shot for strike three pretty close could have gone either way it went Ryan's way [Applause] that is strike three on the edge toward L didn't like it but a really nasty pitch from Joe and Jimenez finds its way to the corner it's our xfinity fast pitch the game brought to you by Xfinity high-speed internet America's best internet service provider that one pretty much right there I mean Grindr move the wrist a bit to buy the call but that had a part of the plate a three hit three-run night for Lori Garcia ball one to Garcia who is one of three Sox with three hits Abreu has four hits Jose Rondo with two hits of the Sox 20 they've stockpiled tonight [Applause] [Music] that had hero written all over it and Ilario a third believed still that Leary's gonna lay one down he's at the cut of the grass but leery that thinkin but right now he's thinking ending the ballgame one and one is there a fastball buzzing in at 95 one down nobody on ninth inning Subaru White Sox postgame live may happen tomorrow we'll find out together strike three Jimenez has come in to strike out all three he's faced and it's Tim Anderson who's got the bat in his hand with two out in the ninth and he gets a major round of applause a standing ovation in parts of this ballpark well these fans realize what a year he has to this point that they also appreciate the two plays he made the last inning to make sure that the Tigers didn't score tim has the best batting average through 23 [Applause] [Music] we got a star on our head on the south side of Chicago it's only fitting it [Applause] [Music] [Applause] offensive heroics in the bottom of the night a huge comeback win for the Sox in the first of a 10 game homestand the bats were booming and the fans certainly appreciate everything Tim Anderson does these days a fort homerun replay and the happy replay is a slider down and Anderson knows it's gone when it left the bet we get a little back flip and why what a ball game Gatorade for everybody Yeomans is hidden whoever and Tim Anderson gets his moments with a homerun to win it Chuck take it away Tim Anderson first up he ever been involved in a game like that no never never half of a nightmare we've been battling minutes heads three strikeouts in a row you come up congrats sleeping great win for Tim Anderson and this team here two nights back up to you man what a night at the ballpark a Tim Anderson before the game got a delivery at a giant box in the clubhouse he got a delivery of t-shirts there well tonight the stick was talking so was the defense and this ball game was just one of those nights where Sox did a few things wrong certainly but the bats just came alive and Tim Anderson who was out the first two times had four hits in a row the fourth of which send us all home and send all the fans home happy what a ballgame it was tonight nobody is ever
