Southeast Asian underground Market at FDR Park in South Philly with Mark Wiens!

i can't even eat the tacos that we ate for this morning so many different types of tacos we love the chicharron thank you messing with mark wiens this morning got me going out of my way to get me some mexican food man mark this is dedicated to you right here you know i was minding my own business this morning and uh i stumbled upon mark wien's mexican street food tacos and man he messed me up he really did but in a good way you know i really respect what he does and uh one day i aspire to be to be just like him and meet him one day and pick his brain and eat some good old food [Music] peace everyone welcome to another episode of jl jupiter tv today we're currently in south philadelphia to hit up a hidden southeast asian market right here in fdr park they're gonna have papaya salad beef sticks stuffed chicken wings everything and i brought a special friend with me right here say what's up what's up jl yo it's because of you i remember my first vlog seeing was when you went when you traveled to cambodia oh and i i identified with it i'm like yo this guy is the coolest thing ever and i subscribed and still became a fan when i when i saw that so oh thank you and i can't wait to introduce you to some philly come on food oh i'm looking forward yeah hopefully it's hot enough oh we got we got spice we got peppers here we got everything for you so i can smell because of smoke coming from the barbecue you're gonna have some people hand you shots of hennessy just turn it down you know we're not gonna do no handing today all right only one we're only doing one okay i don't want no more after this man nice to see you guys okay thank you guys but stay tuned y'all we're gonna um i'm gonna show mark around and hopefully this lives up to his expectation as well so stay tuned [Music] we walk maybe about 10 steps look at this we walked about 10 steps and look at this already a crowd so mark philadelphia loves you man right now people are just look they're still flooding they're just bringing him food right now we don't even have to go to the vendors they're just bringing us food right now man all the time he is you know he is draining the park right now people are just flooding to him this this actually this vlog is not about the food or me it's about this legendary man right here man so again mark we salute you here i'm gonna just tell you guys what you need to try when you come to the southeast asian park here in fdr so one of them is beef sticks uh you can get chicken sticks too you gotta get stuffed chicken wings papaya salad and some stir fry and a sugar cane drink all right but essentially they have everything here too if you want plants if you want peppers they got them here some pickled vegetables they got in here pretty much everything man look at this thank you thank you man of the people's right there [Music] oh yeah that's so good sweet banana crunchy sesame seeds great disclaimer i'm not too crazy about these just cause i'm not a sweets person but i can appreciate it so here we go that's pretty darn good right there got real bananas in here what do you call it the banana lady here what was what yeah this is the banana lady he's really good the egg roll lady the egg roll the egg girl ladies no he wasn't too far off you know something lady they have uh sponsorships and everything on here let me tell you coming up growing up coming over here this wasn't official like there was no permits or anything like that so to see all this to see the progression makes me really proud might want to shed a cheerleader with jenny and um the president with them now they form a good alliance where they're working with the city and the city's acknowledging all of this right now very cool yeah that's yeah so they basically two female strong empowerment they they do their things come on i know you all want to take place come on look at this every stop every stop mark mark is the man over here you know what i mean we love you mark let's get into it uh yeah welcome to philadelphia good and the food looks authentic it looks amazing yeah it looks really good um you ever had stuffed chicken wings before yeah i have yeah but it's been a long time it's been a long time bob and i let's see yeah so let's do let's do let's do the stuff this way this is what i was eyeing from the first thing we we got right now is chicken stuffed with lemongrass more more chicken or something like that is it more chicken yeah and then i guess uh the way i like to eat this is i take a bite and then i'll go right into the papaya salad again you know i want you to do the honest first i'm going to try the papaya perfect thank you cheers my summer is not complete if i don't have this right here it's one of my favorite things that is it's like that's amazing yeah the lemongrass so it gets debunked you take the bone out there's a whole art form it's like that's straight up like a sausage within a wing this place is hot enough for you oh it looks great you can see the crab in it too oh yeah that's spicy crap oh wow the fermented crab the chili's great [Music] it's spicy but it ain't that spicy [Music] dude i didn't expect in philadelphia to come and get some authentic southeast asian food it's about authentic as you can get oh yeah i've shot a lot of videos for celebrities and they have something called a walk through in the clubs they get paid to walk through clubs and what they do is they they pretty much garner a lot of attention well what i just witnessed with mark was way better than any artist that i've ever filmed in my career and that was an amazing sight to see his walkthrough his strength as a content creator or just a human being i'm really you know that goes to show you man he's reaches all around the world we keep telling we love you here mark we always thank you thank you on just a huge thank you to this entire community southeast asian community in philly as well man the support the warm welcome yeah like people have just been handing us food thank you guys and thank you jl and it's all right man this is a good switch up from what we've been eating before we've been eating a lot of cheese steaks and stuff lately this is a good switch up oh yeah it's perfect perfect there you go this is taco yeah this is a cambodian sausage taco yeah awesome [Music] mm-hmm cheers smell like about chocolate sourness that fermentation oh it's amazing i like that the snap of that caching this was some white rice oh yeah some peppers chase it with the herbs too to balance that [Applause] oh yeah this is the the fish mint in english right that pepperoni got me that pepper almost hit the back of my throat and your boy almost lost it i'm good you do that myself i think vietnamese call it ban sal my people i don't know why we say banchow same concept it's like a bit like a crepe in a way with pork in there i don't know is this pork in here yeah what would be best to do here well you can have that i can have this over here all right normally i you know i put this all in the bowl and i mix it up we don't have that luxury right now so i'm just gonna take a big piece and dip it you can dip it tear it off i guess so loaded with bean sprouts some minced pork i don't even know if you can pick it all right up gonna dip first that sauce is looking great though the ground chili the peanuts in there oh yeah the crunch the sweetness the freshness of this bean powder absolutely oh it's really good it's really tough to keep the beans browns crunchy but she did it the wrapping is so the banjo wrapping is so thin holding it together i know what we can do spoon it off there you go by any means necessary i highly suggest you get the stuffed chicken wings beef sticks or chicken sticks and papaya salad those are the base those those to me like i said my summer is not complete if i don't have those things so definitely try it out real deal yeah what's up hey what's up what's up man good good how are you we call it we call it we call that fermented fermented fish bahak oh yeah oh yeah in cambodia yeah yeah yeah amazing amazing got one more thing though which is low chop okay okay low chad's a like a street food stir-fried with scallions bean sprouts and top it off with an egg and then you use your fish sauce street fish sauce okay and you put steak and i think there's steak in there too so you do the honors man you want to pour this on yeah pour it right on the whole thing the whole thing on [Laughter] that's right actually they're starting to bump man oh yeah man you feel it oh yeah well i'm gonna do a chili just because you know for the cause do it with that you want the green that's sure you ready cheers this is one of my dreams here is to eat a chili pepper with mark all right we about to do it right now a bite in a chase that's how we do it broccoli chinese broccoli let's go all the heat magnifies the chili this is good though it's really good it's so hot though i didn't expect it i thought just because it was sitting there it was going to cool down that that temperature is holding within those noodles because it's not that texture right it really is get someone to egg gotta do the egg loving it i'm just happy i'm able to hang with him as far as eating chili peppers like i thought i thought his spice level was like and i found out that my spice levels is there too hello can i take picture with you yeah in a minute when we're done you can take pictures okay really good stuff it's really good stuff it's uh it has a nice charredness to the noodles and uh the sweetness from the fish sauce it's one of the fish one of the dishes to get to when you get here it's called lo cha lot cha lo cha how you feeling dude those chilies are amazing you're amazing yeah okay dude i'm loving that i can get you some on the way home too man it's been a minute yeah it feels like when you're back in asia i real deal this is a good spice so yeah i just want to um highlight this place here it's a summertime destination as far as southeast asian community goes and it's starting to pick up some steam so i wanted to catch it uh before it actually takes off so you know i
