guys if you have opened up YouTube for the last few days you are very aware that the a7c2 is upon us a fantastic hybrid camera from Sony that I am personally very excited about I actually got to review it pre-release because I am one of the cool kids and speaking of that Sony invited me to their condo event which was really really great and uh they ain't no pressure they didn't ask you to make any videos or anything but I got to try out the a7c2 and a7c are again as well as the 1635 G Master lens it was certainly a lot of fun but there were a lot of people at the event that were rocking this a6700 and I can see why it is also a fantastic camera I love it very much and probably the best value Sony camera in the lineup right now in my not so humble opinion so the question is do you want to spend about 13.98 on the a6700 or 2198 on the a7c2 well let's see which one might be right for you [Music] so if you want to hear a little bit more about that condo event I will talk about it at the end of the video and if you don't want to hear about it just skip that part or I guess just end the bit stop watching the video at that point but uh let's talk about these two cameras right now something everybody wants to see is head-to-head footage so I will show you some side by side footage all auto settings then s-log 3 because of course these two cameras shoot 10 bit 422. [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so obviously two very similar images coming out of these cameras except one has that full frame sensor so you can get a shallower depth of field at the same field of view and f-stop so it's easier to control your depth field you can get something like a 51.2 which will be an extremely blurry background for the a7c2 there's no real equivalent to that in terms of autofocus lenses for the aps-c line so if you are a sucker for that very very blurry background the full frame camera will help you get that much easier these two cameras do share some similarities I mean they're both new releases by Sony they are roughly the same size and weight I think it's what it's I'm looking at my notes here it is 514 grams for the a7c2 versus 493 grams for the a6700 so that's a big thing to have that a7c2 in such a small compact body that doesn't overheat we will talk about that in a bit of course you have that ridiculously fantastic AI autofocus where it predicts where the eye is going to be whether it be a human or an animal as they spin around or turn away from the camera it just latches on and it never lets go it is the best autofocus system I have ever seen it is in both of these cameras of course and you also have more subjects than ever that you can detect when it comes to photos you have humans you have animals you have Birds but birds are animals last time I checked but anyway they separate those two things you have insects you have planes and Trains and Automobiles and it will just find those subjects no matter what extremely reliable and I love it in both cameras their viewfinders are also basically the same 2.36 million Dot evf and it's a 0.71 magnification 35 millimeter full frame equivalent for the a6700 and 0.70 magnification for the a7c2 they both have that 1.04 million dot LCD so I mean these two cameras they even to look at them physically they look very similar and they operate similarly in many ways they down sample their image the ae7c2 down samples from 7K the a6700 down samples from 6K but as you can see the image still is quite comparable and of course the a6700 has that 4K 120. in fact let's just do that right now we'll talk about the advantages of the a6700 so right out of the box we have the 4K 60 with no crop so if you have the framing of a 4K 24 or 4K 30 and you want to switch it into to 4K 60 for a little bit of slow motion then you will get no change in your frame and then of course which is an advantage over the a7c2 which if you're shooting in 24 or 30 frames per second and you just switch it into 4K 60 then you have to go in 1.5 times which does change your Framing and the a6700 does 4K 120 that's a really big one for me a lot of people like that extra slow slow motion you know what I mean so that 4K 120 looks so buttery smooth that is at a 1.5 times crop on the a6700 where's the a7c2 doesn't have it at all the a6700 actually has better rolling shutter than the a7c2 let's take a look at that now [Music] the a6700 shares the same sensor and processor as the fx30 and the a7c2 shares the same processor and sensor as the a74 and the fx30 and a6700 have better rolling shutter than the a74 and a7c2 unless you put the a7c2 into aps-c crop mode and then it catches up to the a6700 as since the a6700 is a crop sensor camera to begin with then you could argue that this is a bit of a wash as if you wanted that better rolling shutter in 4k you could always just use the aps-c mode on the a7c2 you get extra reach in photos when it comes to the a6700 because if you go into aps-c crop mode in photos for the a a7c2 then you are going to lose a lot of megapixels whereas so when you're cropping and zooming and printing out your photos it might not work quite as well whereas the a6700 it will keep its 26 megapixels of course because it just starts at that 1.5 times crop relative to full frame so for wildlife photographers for sports Shooters sometimes they prefer the aps-c cameras because they get further reach out of their lenses and speaking of their lenses the aps-c lenses are often smaller and cheaper than full frame lenses so uh the lens right here that I have on the a6700 is a 15 millimeter F 1.4 and this is much cheaper and in my opinion just as good as the Sony 24 millimeter F 1.4 that is on my zve E1 right now and you can go even cheaper you can get the sigma 16 mil F 1.4 for about 350 dollars which again I think it's pretty equivalent to this G Master lens when it comes to its Optical quality the a6700 shoots 11 frames per second in mechanical shutter whereas the a7c2 it shoots 10 frames per second in mechanical shutter and electronic shutter and of course the price this is 13.98 versus the 2198 for the a7c II now when it comes to the a7c2 the First Advantage we have to talk about is of course that full frame sensor this glorious sensor that is on the a74 it is such a fantastic image that comes out of it and like I've said earlier in the video you can just control your depth of field much easier on those full-frame cameras you also get much better low light performance when you are using this a7c2 versus the a6700 I did a low light test take a look at that now [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] is no slouch when it comes to low light and aps-c cameras it just cannot compete with the a7c2 if a low light monster is what you are after the a7c2 is the way to go the a7c2 also has 33 megapixels versus 26 megapixels so if you're printing really large or you're doing a lot of cropping that 33 megapixels will pay some dividends the aps-c crop mode now I've talked about this as positives and negatives for both cameras but when it comes to video definitely having an aps-c crop mode is great for the a7c2 because basically you get two focal lengths in one if you have a 24 millimeter lens on like I have right now on the zve E1 you just go on the a7c2 you go into aps-c crop mode and you have roughly a 36 millimeter in terms of field of view so it's great to be able to get that extra reach out of your lenses when it comes to video when it comes to photo as I stated before you're going to lose a lot of megapixels and so you may not want to do that Sony reports seven stops of Ibis on the a7c2 and it only has 5.5 stops on the a6700 and so when you're using Ibis alone let's say for photography you can definitely notice it with the a7c2 being a more stable image than the a6700 but I have to say when it comes to using active stabilization I don't see much of a difference when it comes to video let me show you that now and this is the stabilization of the a7c2 we are using the active stabilization which I like to use when I am using these Sony cameras and the stabilization is great on this when it comes to the handheld vlogging this very usable I like it very much and it's still a small lightweight camera with this kind of stabilization pretty nice so this here is the a6700 we are walking talking and vlogging with the AC 6700 and the Sony 15 millimeter 1.4 G lens and as you can see this camera does a really good job with the active stabilization I think it's quite good quite usable this to me is pretty much a dream vlogging camera small and light and you can also get this is only 11 millimeter 1.8 for an even wider field of view but this 15 also does the job vlogging and in the studio and of course you can just turn off all stabilization and then stabilize with the gyro data run through a program and you get gimbal-like footage without a gimbal it's kind of nice and of course the a7c2 can also use that gyro data so I crop in about 10 after turning off all stabilization cropping about 10 percent then I get this nice smooth footage takes a little extra time but I think it's worth it in many many cases [Music] yeah foreign overheating now when it comes to The Thermals this will vary by where you live and how you use your cameras but I can say that when you use the a6700 and you are connecting external monitors you're going through the HDMI port and then you're also you know powering it through the USBC it will start to heat up so a lot of people are getting overheating issues when they're plugging into HDMI monitors and so there have been some updates for the a6700 so make sure you update your camera and that should help you with any overheating issues you might be having but I can say that while I have found that there are circumstances where you can overheat the a6700 I was unable to overheat the a7c2 I hooked it up to monitors I let it play for hours and hours at 4K 60. didn't matter what I did it didn't overheat on me at all so I can safely say that the overheating is better on the A7 C2 perhaps it will not be an issue for you on either camera like it isn't for me I actually don't have any problems with the a6700 overheating with the way I shoot and where I live in Toronto Canada but uh I will say that when I stressed it out I could get the a67 to overheat the a6700 sorry to overheat but I couldn't get the a7c2 to overheat you know what I'm saying now this is a really tough decision for a lot of people because the bang for buck on the a6700 is off the charts 4K 120 to go along with all those other great features you know it is just it's a compelling buy at 1398 but to get some of the latest and greatest Sony stuff in a full-frame camera for 21.98 all those great autofocus features you know the video quality and the photo quality of the a74 in what is a fairly affordable body when it comes to Fancy full-frame cameras I mean it's just it's up to you tell me down below what you think which one of these two did you buy would you buy and if none of them what would you buy instead maybe this zve E1 I'll be comparing this to the a7c2 as well coming up soon so don't forget to subscribe and like and comment do all do all of the things now I'll mention a little bit about the Sony condo I must say it was a lot of fun I got to meet a lot of the creators that inspired me to start making you know YouTube videos and now it turns out I Inspire them at least that's what I told them none of them actually talked to me at all but they waved at the camera when I when I put it by I said I'm gonna use this in b-roll and I'll play some music and then they all waved and then I pressed stop and then they all rolled their eyes and walked off and talked to each other that's not true everybody was super nice it was really great uh Sony was saying they were trying to create you know like a community just people that networking talking to each other helping each other out you know collaborating doing things and I must say it's fun to do that because you're sitting here you know in handsome Studios by yourself you're a man on an island sure you're tough and rugged and handsome but it's just it's nice to have friends you know which I think I think I made when I was there I don't know maybe but it was a lot of fun so I must thank Sony for uh letting us go there and uh enjoying the festivities and also not putting any pressure on us to make any videos of course I was going to make videos on these cameras anyway because I get the views and I want the dollars from those views however you know they were just saying just go there have fun no pressure I appreciated it so any other camera companies you want to send me somewhere I will go there as well and not make videos about the event and just talk about it anyway thanks for watching this we'll talk to you again soon okay bye-bye
