the dream camera for most people is a camera that's small and compact but also has the ability to take high resolution photos in cinematic video and still be affordable in the a7sc might just be that so in this video we're going to find out if the a7c is actually a dream camera and how it compares to the other cameras out there in the same price range also if you guys want to check out the a7c or any of the other camera gears we talked about today I'm going to leave a links in the description as always alright let's talk about the a7c one of the reasons I love this camera is because I've actually been using it on and off for the last two years on professional projects and documentary work so I pretty much know this camera inside and out design wise the a7c is almost perfect if you're looking for a camera that's small and compact I actually have the Sony zve E10 right here which is a very small and compact camera and the a7c really isn't that much bigger the a7c is a little bit thicker but I prefer that because it has a nicer feel in my hands I'm able to grip this camera a lot better so I would have to say it really doesn't feel like a big mirrorless camera and this is really something that you can easily take around with you as an everyday lifestyle camera or if you're a professional that prefers to leave your bigger cameras at home because even with the smaller body you're not sacrificing a lot in terms of specs in terms of physical buttons the a7c is really closer to a consumer camera it doesn't have the same amount of customizable buttons and dials that you would normally expect on a professional camera but that's a small sacrifice to make for the smaller body and one thing I'm so happy to see on the a7c is a digital viewfinder if you're a photographer that has to be able to put your camera up to your eye and you can still use this in video mode also before you ask yes it does have a side flip out swing and yes you could totally Vlog on this and the a7c does have an input for external audio with a headphone jack output so you can also listen back to your audio this is key if audio is a big part of your video and in case you do plan to use the a7c for professional projects I have shot a number of documentaries on this camera in the last year and a half and I did put a monitor and a top handle on this camera but this thing totally heals up in professional environments it never overheated on me it was always reliable never had any sort of technical hiccup with this camera I would happily recommend this to other professionals if you are someone that wants to keep your camera set up small and compact the lenses that I'm using is a Sony G lens 20 millimeters and a Sony regular Fe lens 85 millimeters they're super reliable sharp and crisp lenses but best of all they're small and compact without sacrificing anything in quality but when it comes to design and lenses none of that matters if the images out of this camera aren't amazing and that's where I think the Sony a7c is really going to impress you because despite the small size this camera packs a ton of horsepower the first thing that I should probably point out about the a7c is the sensor and the resolution because it's a really special combination that you don't see that often it's a full frame sensor with a 24 megapixel resolution and it is a a back illuminated sensor which basically means this camera is phenomenal when it comes to low light and that alone makes this a7c a really good hybrid camera for people that boat shoot photos and videos and especially for someone looking for an entry-level full-frame camera and just in case you're new to sensors a full-frame sensor is 1.6 times bigger than a standard aps-c sensor which most cameras have however how exactly it does that and why it does that could be a whole video on its own if you guys do want to see that let me know in the comments down below but by using a full frame sensor you're always going to make things look and feel more cinematic with your photos and videos this is especially helpful for YouTubers and creators who want their work to Stand Out and because of that 24 megapixel resolution you're always going to get very high resolution photos from this camera and the 4K in this camera is actually down sampled from a 26 megapixel 6K image so the 4K in this camera will have the detail and visual Fidelity of a 6K image as I mentioned earlier the a7c is tremendous in low light it has two native isos of 500 and 3200 and I was able to crank this up all the way to 6400 with very very clean results it is unbelievable how good this camera is without being an a7s model and when you look at everything as a whole you realize that this camera has the ability to shoot in so many different situations whether it's outdoor shooting in a studio vlogging or even documentary stuff late at night this is an extremely versatile camera that I don't really have any hesitation to recommend to people because I know you're going to be able to use it for almost anything you throw at it however there is one or two things that this camera doesn't do super well which I'll talk about later in this video but let's go a little bit deeper and talk about the photos and videos actually coming from this camera let's talk about frame rates and the overall image quality the a7c delivers really solid 4K up to 24 and 30 frames per second in 30 frames per second there is a slight crop but personally I don't think it's noticeable at all it has a data iterate up to 100 megabits per second which is plenty for most people and like I mentioned earlier the 4K and the a7c is actually down sampled from a 6K image so you're going to get the Fidelity and sharpness of a 6K image but in a adjustable easy to use 4K package and if you zoom in at 200 it's still fairly sharp and it doesn't really fall apart and the regular HD image at 1080p isn't too bad either however the 1080p is not down sampled the a7c does have a 30 minute record limit this isn't because the camera will overheat or it's not strong enough it's simply a software limitation where it doesn't let it record Beyond 30 minutes and one thing that I love about the a7c is the slow motion capabilities it does full HD at 120 frames per second for five times slow motion and 60 frames per second for two times slow motion 60 frames per second looks really solid however there is a bit of a quality drop off at 120 frames per second because of that 100 megabits per second data raid cap now if you're so someone that uses slow motion here and there the a7c will be perfectly fine however if you're like me and most of your work is shot in slow motion especially if you're shooting Fashion sports or high-end commercials you're going to want to step up to a camera that has a higher data rate so that the slow motion does not have a quality drop off at the end of this video I will be recommending a couple of cameras that are still within the same price range as the a7c but have a really good slow motion capabilities however the a7c is still the cheapest option for slow motion on a full frame sensor I doubt that slow motion will be a deal breaker for most people but what I do see as a deal breaker for a lot of people is the 8-Bit color in case you don't know what color bits are most cameras have 8-bit color But as time goes on a lot of cameras are starting to come out with 10-bit color which is closer to what high-end professional cameras use overall in my opinion 8bit color is good enough for most people however if you really need 10 bit color because you want to make your content look like a movie you do have to pay about an extra eight hundred dollars to move up to the closest competitor to the a7c that does 10-bit color and is also full frame and this really depends on your needs as a Creator I always recommend people get the best possible camera and lenses they can for the amount of money that they can afford because it's always better to get a little bit more than you need and grow into your camera system and speaking of creators one thing we haven't talked about are the photo capabilities from the a7c it's a full frame 24 megapixel sensor but because it's full frame it holds a ton of detail and a lot of light information you can easily edit push and pull your colors to the absolute Max and there's very very little image deterioration I actually did not have to use any noise reduction on my edits and even more impressive is the 10 frames per second shooting speed on the a7c you can easily use this as a sports camera wildlife camera or any kind of fast moving action and if you're a YouTuber like me this is a great thumbnail camera when you look at the over overall package of the a7c it does tremendous photos and videos and because of the full frame sensor everything will look cinematic 4K that's down sample it's a pretty great camera however how does it compete with everything else out there because there are newer cameras that are about the same price and you have to wonder is this really the best that you can get in this price range and the answer is a bit complicated the main reason that I love the Sony cameras and the a7c specifically is the autofocus and stabilization Sony's autofocus is God level there's literally no other cameras in the industry right now that have autofocus on par with Sony's now the a7c is a little bit older so it's not quite as good as the newest Sony autofocus but I would say the autofocus is still 10 out of 10. and the stabilization is really great for handheld work I can easily use this camera all day in handheld mode and I will not get shaky footage when you look at the combination of autofocus and stabilize at this price point and full frame there's really not much out there but if you're someone that has to have 10 bit color or maybe you want faster shooting rates and higher data rates but with a smaller sensor there are cameras that I do believe are better fit for you if those are things you want but if you want a camera that's an entry level full frame the a7c is still the best so if you do want something that's not the a7c here's a couple of options that I think would be tremendous so first up we have the Canon R6 or the most recently released Canon R6 Mark II they both have a 20 and a 24 megapixels full frame sensor and they have a relatively the same shooting speeds with I think the Canon goes up to 12 and 15 whereas the Sony only goes up to 10. however you're really not going to notice that big of a difference with a few extra frames but where the Canon R6 really shines is the 10-bit video and 4K up to 60 and Full HD up to 120 frames per second with higher data rates so you will be getting much higher video quality just as a baseline but like I mentioned earlier it is about an extra 800 to 900 and another great option for you guys would be the Sony fx30 it's basically about the same size as the a7c however it has a smaller aps-c size sensor which is 26 megapixels so it may not look as cinematic because of the smaller sensor however it has higher data rates and it does 4K up to 120 with a crop but but but it also has 10 big color and does 4K 60 with no crop and at a higher data rate and it's actually the same price as the a7c and lastly we have the Fuji xh2s it's a 26 megapixel aps-c size sensor so once again it is not full frame but one really interesting thing about this camera is that it does let you shoot 6.2 k with internal prores with Fujifilm emulations now that may sound like a lot so I do recommend watching my full review on the Fuji xh2s but this is really a camera I recommend to someone who's a serious cinematographer that maybe even wants to make short films or high-end commercials this is a real filmmaker camera however I still think the Sony a7c for the price point is still the best deal out there and when you compare to the Canon Canon r or the Canon RP the a7c is way better has way better video quality and just overall better dynamic range so if you want something in this price point the a7c and the fx30 are probably your best bet but if you have to have 10 bit color I do recommend stepping up to a 6D Mark R6 look I do recommend stepping up to a Canon R6 Mark 1 or Mark II for the 10-bit color or the Fuji xh2s and if these cameras still aren't quite what you're looking for feel free to hit me up in the comments down below with what you're looking for and what you need it for and I will make sure to get back to you guys and chances are you're either going to pick up the a7c or you might already have a camera but if you really want stunning photos and videos you have to learn how to properly use your camera
