so the new Sonos Aero 300 is a very impressive Dolby Atmos smart speaker with a very interesting speaker setup however the Aero 300 is a little big and it is a little pricey but today let's see how these phones ever 300 Stacks up with other great sounding smart speakers like the homepod Gen 2 and the Bose smart speaker 500. we're going to pricing the Sonos Aero 300 is the most expensive speaker here coming in at 450 behind it is the Bose smart speaker 500 which retails for 380 dollars and it's also the oldest speaker here however this speaker does like to go on sale from time to time and then there's a homepage Gen 2 which retails for 300 now personally I don't expect either of these Sonos or the homepod to go on sale all that often nonetheless if you want to pick any of these speakers up they'll be linked down below and if you want to further support the channel pick up a big hit approved hat it helps the unsponsored and unbiased reviews coming we've got trucker hands and snapbacks now first I think it's very important that we talk about connectivity now with the homepod this is a speaker that's meant to be used with an iPhone because first off you do need an iPhone to set it up and also it has a very heavy Reliance on AirPlay for you to actually stream music to it now the Sonos is another speaker that is also best used with an iPhone because it also relies very heavily on AirPlay for you to stream music to it however if you are an Android User you can always use the Sonos by downloading the Sonos app to your phone and you can stream music to it through sonos's app or you can always connect to the Sonos speaker by using Bluetooth but then there's the Bose which plays nice with both iPhone and Android the Bose has AirPlay 2 support so as long as you're connected to the same Wi-Fi network as this Bose speaker you can stream music to it just like how you can with the Sonos and homepod but also the Bose has Chromecast supports so if you're an Android user and you're connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the speaker you can always stream music to it just like how you can with an iPhone using airplane but also the Bose does have Bluetooth now I know it sounds pretty basic that I'm having to point out that these Sonos and Bose have Bluetooth but this is actually a pretty big deal because Bluetooth is actually pretty new for Sonos and personally I still think that it's very important for your speaker to have Bluetooth because this way you can always share your speaker with someone without having to share your Wi-Fi password now continuing on the topic of connectivity the Bose has a built-in audio jack so you can always just use a wired connection with the speaker right out of the box whereas with the Sonos it has a USB C Port so if you want to use a wired connection with the Sonos you're going to have to buy sonos's audio jack to USB C port adapter which is sold separately and personally I do think this is rather ridiculous I feel that this speaker should just have a built-in audio jack but then there's a whole pod which can only be used wirelessly now still continuing on the topic of connectivity we now have to discuss the speakers home theater setup capabilities now with the homepod if you were to get two home pods and an Apple 4K TV then you'll be able to use these two home pods as a home theater setup whereas with the Sonos if you were to get two of the same speakers you can always hook them up to either your Sonos Arc or Sonos beam Gen 2 and use them as rear satellite surround sound speakers but then there's the Bose now you can always pair your Bose speaker to your Bose soundbar and they'll play in sync but your Bose speaker isn't going to behave like a rear satellite speaker like with sonos's setup next up there's the voice assistance on these speakers now with the homepod you can only use Siri because Apple done but then there's the Sonos where you can use sonos's own voice assistant and this is going to allow you to control your Sono speaker with just your voice or you can always use your Sonos speaker as an Alexa smart speaker but then there's the Bose where you can use either or Google Assistant but with compatibility connectivity and voice assistance out of the way we can finally start talking about how these speakers actually sound regarding speaker setups and the homepage Gen 2 has a single upper firing woofer and a total rule of five tweeters that shoot all around the speaker then there's the Bose which has two woofers that shoot out the size of the speaker and then there's the era 300 which has the Wilder speakers that appear the arrow 300 has two woofers that shoot out the sides and it has a total of five tweeters on it one shoots out the front two shoots out the sides and slightly upwards and one shoots upwards now due to the Aero 300s unique speaker setup when it comes to placement I do recommend that you try to place the speaker somewhere or it's just gonna have room to breathe but also somewhere where the top of the speaker is going to have a direct line of sight to the ceiling so that way the upward firing Tweeter has something to bounce sound off of with the Bose since this speaker does shoot the majority of its sound out of its size and you also want to place it somewhere where it's going to have a room to breathe but then there's the homepod now ideally you want to place the speaker in the center of your room because this is a 360 degree speaker but I do feel the homepod is a lot more forgiving as to where you actually place the speaker now before we jump into the sound test I do have to point out that the Sonos does sound a little flat with its stock EQ but you can always go in and adjust the bass and treble on this speaker and personally I like to use this speaker with its base raised by five clicks whereas with the bows this speaker does sound a little bright with this stock EQ but again you can always adjust its bass and trouble to your liking and personally I do like to use this speaker with the bass raised up to 50 and the trouble lowered down to negative 20. but now we're going to jump into the sound test now both the Sonos era 300 and the Bose smart speaker 500 are playing at 75 volume whereas with the homepod in order for it to keep up it had to be playing at 100 volume places [Applause] [Music] [Applause] okay you've been lost [Music] getting hot feeling alone [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] [Music] I'll show you okay [Music] but I will guide you home [Music] so first we're going to have to address max volume performance in this sound test both the Sonos and bows were playing at 75 volume whereas the homepod was playing at max volume just so that it can keep up now the homepod is going to be able to fill a small or medium sized room with sound but it is going to struggle to fill a larger room with sound whereas the Bose smart speaker 500 does get noticeably louder than the homepod but that's partially because the speaker does lean towards a brighter sound signature so even though it does get louder it doesn't sound as full there isn't as much detail in the mids and the highs do get rather nasally but then there's the era 300 which does get loud enough to comfortably fill a large room with a sound and unlike the Bose it is going to sound full and concentrated not just nasally with an over emphasis on the highs but when it comes to the actual sound quality of these speakers since the Bose doesn't have any built-in tweeters like with these other two speakers is instrument separation isn't as good and like I mentioned earlier the Bose does the lean towards a brighter sound signature however very surprisingly the Bose does have an impressive amount of physicality in its base all on its own but then there's the homepod whose instrument separation is noticeably better than the Bose and this speaker also has an impressive amount of physicality in its base all on its own and I think that's due to the placement of the woofer on the speaker nonetheless the vocals on the homepod are very well defined and the speaker does a noticeably better job of giving details to the instrumentals something that the Bose does struggle with and finally there's the Sonos Aero 300 which I feel has the best SMS operation here since sound is coming at you from all different directions this speaker does sound noticeably more open than both of the Bose and homepod and it also doesn't put an over emphasis on the highs and whether you're listening to Dolby Atmos content or not the Aero 300 is going to sound notably more open than the homepod which also has Dolby ammo support now Adobe animos is instead of your music just coming out over the left side and right side of your speaker and everything just being on the same plane Dolby Atmos gives your music a sense of verticality to it now everything doesn't automatically have Adobe animus supports but whether you're listening to Dolby Atmos content or not the Sonos Aero 300 is going to sound notably more open than both the homepod and boats my only critique about this speaker is that its physicality in its base is a little lackluster especially for the sheer size of this speaker however with the Aero 300 you can always connect one of sonos's wireless subwoofers to it and then that way you're really going to be able to feel your music but cost bases wise I don't think this makes a lot of sense however if you've already invested into sonos's ecosystem maybe you already have a Sonos soundboard and maybe you already have a Sono subwoofer than if you got the Sonos era 300 then you can always connect that subwoofer to the error 300. so with all that being said if you're trying to choose between any of these three speakers and if sound is your main priority then the Sonos aero300 100 is easily the best bet here the Aero 300 has the best instruments operation here and it also gets the loudest here so it's going to have no problem filling a larger room with a sound and even at those higher volumes the Aero 300 continues to sound full and the mids continue to have good detail in them unlike the Bose but the thing about the Sonos is that this speaker is best to use with an iPhone now even though the speaker does have Bluetooth now it does play nice with Android but personally I really feel that for the best user experience you do want to use the Sonos with an iPhone but then there's the homepod and just as you'd expect it is meant to be used with an iPhone the homepage Gen 2 is a very simple solution for any iPhone user that just wants a great sounding speaker however I would only recommend the speaker either for a small or medium sized room and finally there's the Bose which it plays nice with both iPhone and Android and it has a built-in audio jack so you can always use it with a wired connection right out of the box you don't have to get a separate adapter like you do with the Sonos and The Speaker gets impressively loud however at those power volumes this speaker can sound a little nasally if you made it this far I guess you enjoyed
