now here we are going to take a simple exercise in SolidWorks and going to learn about SolidWorks sheet metal feature so right click in any tabs you will see here this pop-up window go down and here activate sheet metal see now let me start with top plane sketch activate line tool and start to draw our main sketch okay this is a rough layout drawing let us activate Smart Dimension and let us Define few important dimensions 100 and this is going to be 80. fine now 50 50 and the upper one is going to be 30 millimeter perfect now one more thing angle 135 degree that is also fine now distance from here to here 50 then the horizontal distance 80. now here let's make these two lines collinear hold shift key select these two line and make a constrained collinear see it seems fully defined sketch exit and go to sheet metal and activate base flange tab look material thickness two millimeter OK its going to a downward Direction keep as it is K Factor we will keep point zero five OK this is the auto relief we will keep as it is and we will see if we can change it any place say yes now what next step we are going to add we are going to add a flange so each flange and I am going to add here drag and if you see upper Edge it will move upside see here now even though you can change radius let's say 2 millimeter angle 90 degree Bend 20 millimeter fine and the edge the distance count from both outer edge of this faces this both face is going to meet at point and that is they are measuring distance from second thing we will keep material outside look material going to outside from the bend we don't need here relief angle or anything so just keep as it is okay look even let's we will make some three point R and we will cut it 30 millimeter 20 millimeter 20 by 10 millimeter and simply select extruded cut look and here select link to thickness so that it will cut only up to the thickness of material say yes look now let's add one more thing here let's say break corner corner trim and I am going to select here break type first so I am going to keep chamfer 10 millimeter and let me select this Edge you will see the preview say yes now at this age also we can add age flange I am going to choose this side and move your cursor and it will move according to your cursor just click and fix again I am going to change radius equival to thickness 20 millimeter and rest I'll keep select these two edges tangent propagation symmetric and the radius going to be 10 millimeter say yes look now let me add few holes here now select the top face sketch now we are going to add a hole here so activate Circle tool draw one Circle right click or escape to exit and now hold shift key select this hole and this Arc make relationship go Centric so that it will be in Center diameter going to be six millimeter now again go to sheet metal and activate extrude cut now here you will get option link to thickness so no need to Define any Dimension or anything simply say yes look sketch now here we want to add few holes so I am going to draw a few holes here at every corner now first select all holes equal make constraint equal radius diameter 10 millimeter ok now let us Define the dimension for this first the distance 10 by 10 from corner okay now activate few more important distance select these Center points and this vertical now select these three points horizontal vertical OK lets activate and Define few more important Dimension like Dimension from here to here 10 10 let me Define from here to here 10. and this Central distance 35 this is fully defined now in this case we have to Define upper one because the horizontal distance already defined Now activate here let's say a straight slot fine 40 millimeter keep radius five millimeter and the distance from this Edge LT 40 millimeter so this is fully defined sketch activate here extruded cut feature link to thickness we do not need to define the thickness for length simply select link to thickness it will cut only the thickness of the material fine now here I want to use vent feature so before that going to activate vent feature we need a sketch so let me draw one sketch here Circle and here I am going to draw six circles four five and six first let me Define the center distance 45 both vertical and horizontal should be 45. ok now the Center one 10 millimeter now from Center one to this Gap 5 the gap between two circles or difference five millimeter perfect activate line tool and I am going to connect these two points circular sketch pattern now here I am going to choose the center one and here entity I will choose this line again clear and choose this point as a center now number of instances equal spacing Even though three also enough three number of instances say ok let us check the distance sixty select this point and this now see it is fully defined sketch Now activate vent feature go to sheet metal and activate vent feature now here see the this sketch already selected boundaries now face also selected this by default OK radius we will keep 0 we will see now ribs ribs I am going to select these three and let's say 2 thickness I will keep two millimeter and space one two three four and here the width of this sphere I'll keep one millimeter look and fill boundary so I will select this Center one see we will get a closed filled boundary even though you can apply radius at every part but it's not look good OK lets continue radius one millimeter Show preview say ok look how the ribs are created or when features applied and created the simple ventilation port edit flange click this one go upside and here select edit flash this is also important feature you have to learn look move distance from here to here and we will add feature from this switch corner to this corner 10 millimeter and distance from here to Outer Edge 20. look back foreign length we already defined so even material look material outside just outside of this now at this stage the corner now in this case we forget to add Central distance so edit flange 3 Edit feature go to edit flange and here I am going to forget smart Dimension this distance 20 millimeter this is important distance finish look Now activate here okay let's apply fill it the better option fill it 10 millimeter and I am going to choose these edges constant type fillet is tangent propagation and activate full preview so that you will get full preview see if we see partial preview you will get only one side so keep full preview symmetric 10 millimeter the radius look now here you will see the Gap here we keep two two millimeter here only one one millimeter now let's add whole here so activate this face both are in same plane so add whole now select both the holes and make constraint equal that's fine hold shift key select Center Point and this Arc co-centric relation similar for this cosentric activate Smart Dimension and define diameter eight millimeter activate extruded cut from sheet metal tool and here it will show you link to thickness no need to Define any dimension each flange perspective it will give better and cool View now here I am going to select upper Edge one two three four and five that's fine now let's change here radius 2 millimeter and you will see the Gap Gap one millimeter we will keep 90 degree and the length 30 millimeter see it's going to X material outside Bend outside custom release now this time I'm using a brown this gives you perfect shape ratio we will keep 0.5 it means equal look a sketch now here we want to add some Corner fillet four millimeter two millimeter 23 millimeter two millimeter that is perfect extrude cut link to thickness say ok Now activate linear pattern now see the feature already selected directions I am going to choose this Edge look spacing eight fifteen number of instances look the gap between these two are eight millimeter the center to Center we don't need this direction to say ok or fact there are cutouts created or for ventilation let me save this case now at this age I am also going to add the same ventilation holes activate Corner rectangle smart Dimension and let's define the same dimensions 23 millimeter four look this is what our final product even though in this case you can reduce one because thickness becomes smaller but this relief angle always relief ratio cut out ratio should be equal to thickness
