The world has become a giant desert and the few populations that have managed to survive prosperously are forced to deal with the clan of the BLACK DRAGON. A group of thugs and opportunists under the leadership of the unfortunate KANO. -Your pathetic lives will be useful, it's time to take back the wasteland once and for all -Welcome to the Black Dragon! Of course we would have loved to continue LIU KANG's story, witness the return of RAIDEN and find out what happened to JONNY CAGE and the mighty SONYA BLADE but, well, we won't know much about them from now on. although that does not mean that in this film we will not be able to see some other familiar face. Each town that was attacked by the Black Dragon was forced to swear allegiance in exchange for protection. Kano's words let us know that the whole world went to hell after the wars between kingdoms and the invasions of the so-called "returned" and that is the reason why people remain in hiding and resources such as water and food are scarce. Even so, and by mere chance, one day this third of idiots comes across an old man and his huge load of food. Not even the strongest of them had managed to make him speak but, KABAL knew, that this food was destined to go somewhere. As they advance towards the horizon they find a town that the BLACK DRAGON had not visited yet, but instead of telling KING KANO, they prefer to keep the secret and keep it to themselves. An outsider named Kenshi Takahashi can sense the presence of these intruders. This fellow had spent much of his life searching for worthy opponents, and his undefeated streak thus far had made him an exceedingly proud warrior. Kenshi shows no problem defeating these criminals, but now that he has forced them back, the townspeople know that the BLACK DRAGON is coming. -I think maybe I'll stay a few days -Well, my children have returned When I commented on what happened, KANO sends back his elite forces now in the company of TREMOR. The leader of this clan knew that KOBRA, KABAL and KIRA had long sought to defect so, to keep up with it, he sent a weak and emaciated SHANG TSUNG behind them to observe them. The old man we previously observed being assaulted was KUAI LIANG himself, the last survivor of the LIN KUEI clan, and also known to us as the second SUB ZERO in this movie saga. He lived quietly carrying his harvest to this town every day, in that place it was only a matter of time before TAKAHASHI could observe his tattoo from a distance. -Is what they say true? The LIN KUEI were the deadliest warriors? Kenshi was insistent on learning from this man who once belonged to the group of the deadliest warriors ever known, however, it seemed that the old man's fighting spirit was long dead. TREMOR and the other forces of the BLACK DRAGON arrived just at that moment looking for a revenge. SHANG TSUNG heard the name of this proud warrior in the distance, while he watched this old man kneel down to avoid a confrontation. The invaders only taunted him, and this time, KENSHI's abilities were not enough to prevent him from being destroyed by TREMOR's brute force. This could have been his end if not for the discreet intervention of SHANG TSUNG. Before leaving, these criminals announced the arrival of the BLACK DRAGON clan, TAKAHASHI remained almost dead on the ground, until he was helped by an old man who called himself SONG. Knowing that KENSHI would seek revenge, SONG manages to manipulate him by promising him power beyond that of King Kano. Their search leads them to the ancient ruins of a temple where a legendary sword awaited. TAKAHASHI's ancestors had built this site, but opening the well of souls costs this warrior his eyes. -Their souls are mine! SHANG TSUNG resumes the form that once made him the most powerful fighter in the kingdoms, and having obtained what he wanted, he leaves this poor man to his fate. KENSHI finally found the promised sword, and thanks to it he managed to get out of here. Somehow the sword was leading him. He traveled a long way through the moor until he had no more strength to continue and fell exhausted very close to the home of Kuai Liang. For his part, SHANG TSUNG rebelled against the King, hoping to assassinate him once and for all. Unfortunately for the sorcerer, KANO seemed to have sent him on purpose to find the well of souls, and all in order to have a worthy opponent. The combat takes some lives around, and before KANO's soul was taken... Well, it turns out that he no longer possessed it. This impression was the defeat of SHANG TSUNG. The journey of who was once the most powerful combatant of all the kingdoms had come to an end. KUAI was in charge of taking care of KENSHI until he came to his senses, at first everything was done in order to avoid the presence of the returnees but, upon learning a little about the deception he suffered by SHANG TSUNG, he decides to train him the following days until he can survive on your own. The tests were a bit demanding but, as time went by, they began to show results, in addition, this sword called SENTO allowed him to see the environment around him in a certain way. -Do not debate about what you are, but about what you can be -Nothing poisons more than saying "I can't" KENSHI TAKAHASHI was a person who did not know how to deal with failure. Sometimes he wished for death in frustration at having lost his eyes forever. In those moments KUAI LIANG helped him get ahead using only his words. He taught him to get up again and again, to keep going and to change the circumstances in his favor even if the world was ending. Very soon this fighter learned to master all his senses in addition to the magic of his sword. In a conversation between these two we are told that KUAI LIANG left behind his life as a warrior after failing against the invasion of the returnees. His pride in believing himself to be invincible doomed the existence of his clan, and his lack of control devastated an entire city. Since then he vowed not to use his power again and has lived in isolation for the past few years. The black dragon clan had finally arrived in the village, upon observing them from a distance, KUAI refused to come to their aid, quite the opposite of KENSHI who had learned in recent days that helping others was of some use, despite that these were not the teachings of his mentor. -Doing the right thing is not pride, it is honor. You taught me! Their discussion leads to a fight between the two causing them to go their separate ways from here. -I can't live well knowing that I could help someone in need. At nightfall KENSHI TAKAHASHI appeared before King Kano, he defeated as many opponents as he faced but the impact of a bullet in the side was the beginning of his fall. Instead of killing him, KANO decides to take this boy to K City, just to show people what happened to those who were against him. KUAI had observed everything, obviously caring for KENSHI. Inside his house he took the Kunai that hung on the wall, freed his animals and set fire to the small field, in this way he was invoking the warrior of the underworld known as SCORPION. -It's like seeing the Gods return to Olympus *Fucking epic music* *Gets excited in Will Smith* Kenshi had been tortured since his arrival in K City. From one moment to the next the wind seemed to be frozen, and this only announced the presence of SUB ZERO on site. -Where were you hiding huh? *Gets excited at Will Smith again* TAKAHASHI was released, and KANO, far from showing fear, was eager to deal with this problem. -Get over here! -He already said the phrase! The Black Dragon clan was being bloodily annihilated, and despite everything the leader was able to resist the strength of these three until he managed to escape. Tremor and Kabal were the last obstacles to overcome. KANO hid in his private room where we discovered that Kronika's own hourglass was, and only then did we understand that perhaps all the story we've seen so far is not necessarily connected to the previous film that was "the battle of the realms”, that is, this world made by KANO could be an alternate line caused by his victory in the Mortal Kombat 11 video game. -I don't understand anything The truth is that none of this is answered at any time Nothing is said about the previous protagonists either, although we can assume that they were eliminated by this subject, all that can be said so far are the conclusions of the fans of this franchise themselves. I will tell you that I liked the film and it has that feeling of freshness BUT, I will not deny that I have been wanting to continue the story from the previous installment. Perhaps later we can continue with the story of LIU KANG in the original line, perhaps we will continue hand in hand with Kenshi in his adventure, or it may be that in this way other characters begin to have a leading role in their respective winning lines, the truth is I don't know, but the film is in charge of planting these doubts on purpose to leave you attentive to the continuation of this animated saga. That being said, once he got hold of the clock, KANO rewrote history to his liking, he intended to eliminate his new adversaries in this way, but KUAI was quick enough to stop him and exterminate him once and for all. Kronika's head is destroyed, what seems to be the portal to the room also disappears. The black dragon clan had ceased to exist, and the time to fulfill a promise had also come. KUAI LIANG goes to hell accompanied by SCORPION, leaving it in the hands of his apprentice to continue the legacy of the LIN KUEI clan. KENSHI leaves towards the horizon hoping to find others to train them and to protect the kingdom of Earth from future threats. As we already mentioned before, this story is not necessarily connected to its predecessor, there is a very important piece missing in the middle of these two films that could answer many questions. Clearly this third adaptation is based on what the world could be like if KANO obtained Kronika's hourglass, but we still have to discover if future installments of this animated franchise will do the same with other characters, or if we will continue with the story . from KENSHI from now on, who knows, maybe we will return to the past with LIU KANG and his friends… For now we can only wait to find out.
