Smooth Fake Zoom Transition | After Effects Tutorial

back with another tutorial um today we're going to be doing fake zooms so to get started you want to bring up the null layer which is control shift alt and Y or if you don't want to do that you can just right click new and add the N object so in between both Clips you just want to cut it and drag the second one to the bottom above the clip all right before we get into the actual Zoom before you want to move this right here so you see where this uh red like dot circle is at not the whole entire box but this circle that's where it's going to be zooming into so say you have it right here it's going to zoom into this point right here on my mouse cursor it's going to zoom into this so have it pointed to where it's kind of centered of his face and you want to come over to the like actual clip and paren this right here on different versions of After Effects it might be over here it's kind of changed over the years so you can either click on it and just add it on top or you can just pull and drag so you can do either or but yeah so come around to before the clip's about to finish and just hit s on your keyboard key frame this at 100% and come over here and drag this up to whatever you feel like it's going to be good so at first it looks kind of like this it's not you know it's not the best so you want to add motion blur to the clip the actual clip not the no layer No Object so you get that zoom in effect just like this it's obviously still slow it's not as fast so to fix that you would bring this up again hover over or just drag and click over these two key frames hit F9 on your keyboard go to the graph editor and change these values to something like this so now you have a fast smooth transition as you can see and if you want this is if you want it looks pretty good already now if you want to change not really change but if you want to add a little bit more zoom uh you can come over to the second layer here and add motion tile so you want to add motion tile and come over here to mirror edges turn that on and add this to 200 and this to 200 so now that it's at 200 you want to parent this with the top so same thing just pull and drag and here we can zoom out quite a bit around 67 and come over here here and add this to 100 and same thing you just want to go to the graph editor with them and this time pull it left that way it's towards the beginning of the clip and it'll look like this so yeah that's what the fake Zoom will look like is just a smooth transition between the two uh you don't have to do this top layer um it's just an option if you want to uh but this is what it looks like without the zoom out on the bottom I think it looks better the first time with it just going straight in um but you know if you want to you can add that but it doesn't really matter hopefully this helped you in some way shape or form um and I'll see you in the next video
