first effect check a fact check of something bizarre that indigenous Australians Mr Linda Bernie said to sell the voice something about cordial and boy isn't Bernie struggling I mean totally out of a depth in fact Bernie is one big reason that the Albanese government's campaign to sell the voices fall into bits Bernie and Primus Anthony Albanese he cannot explain how the voice this this kind of Aboriginal only Parliament is going to work they cannot rule out the voice telling even The Reserve Bank or a defense Chiefs what to do so no Wonder Polls are showing support for The Voice falling fast it seemed a sure bet a few months ago now it seems like a lost cause and Bernie in particular seems so clueless so rattled so ignorant about the details of this voice that again today she had to read out her answers in question time word for word and I wonder who writes these answers for her but you see relying on scripts prepared for her in the morning means she can't and doesn't dare answer the question she's actually getting asked in the afternoon in question time just check this example today for instance Minister if the voice provides advice to the government to change or abolish Australia day will the government follow that advice we need to be heard and urge our fellow Australians to stand with us and vote Yes in the forthcoming referendum for the sake of a better future for all of us no answer at all here's another example Bernie's response to a question about Thomas Mayo a radical Aboriginal activist the Bernie somehow appointed to help design The Voice referendum working group member Thomas Mayo has stated that we need the power of the Constitution behind us so we can organize like we've never organized before and that if we keep going we maintain this momentum until we change the system until we tear down the institutions was the minister aware of Mr Mayo's views when she appointed him to the referendum working group The referendum is about two things it's about recognition and and it's about listing it's about making a practical difference and I simply will not engage in the style of politics that we're seeing today totally beside the point but you know yesterday Bernie did go off script just briefly to try to you know push people's emotional buttons to support the voice and made this extraordinary claim to explain why we needed the voice written into our constitution so people identifying as Aboriginal get more political rights than anyone else I have been to communities where babies are drinking sweet cordial instead of water because it's cheaper and do not tell me what up and don't and do not tell me that the proposition that the Prime Minister has outlined is not needed now I'm going to call Bull on that if this is the level of argument Bernie should just pack up and go home for sad of course even if this were true children being given water accordion instead of water because it's cheaper in what way does this prove we need the voice now Bernie is the minister for indigenous Australians who's just heard about this cordial story so what did you do to fix it assuming it's true what did she do and does she really need a voice in the Constitution to tell her to do something for these children but it's this story even remotely true I mean first of all I wonder about mothers who choose to feed their children cordial even if it was cheaper than water but it's not is it or it doesn't need to be at all because I factored a liter of cordial at Aldi for instance on special at a discount store for even sake is is just over two dollars but woolies is meanwhile selling 10 liters of bottled water for just 6.40 that works out to 64 cents a liter less than a third of the price of discount cordial so I don't know what the local shops in that Community have Ernie visited are stocking and selling there's no Aldis there no woolies but it cannot be hard to organize for bottled water to be sent in if you don't trust the tap water or the water in the rain tanks there's no call to give children cordial instead now the parents could do that themselves get in the water there's no voice needed there's no change to a constitution needed so I am calling Bull and Bernie's argument and I just got to ask is this the track this this track this rubbish is that the best you've got to sell the voice this is really why Australians should now be divided by race in our constitution for the rest of our lives
