Skinny Joey Merlino: Gaeten Polidoro & Anthony Turra - Trial

y- old Gano polidoro was in court today he is facing a misdemeanor weapons violations charge what makes him noteworthy is that when he was arrested police claimed he was trying to hunt down reputed mobster Joey Merino when he was arrested June 9th police say paloro had a 45 caliber semi-automatic along with an oversized clip in his possession that is why he was in court this morning but his attorney is quick to point out that the only charge paoro faces is the gun charge there have been no formal charges concerning a h police say he was out to hit Mr Marino what do you say to that we say that's absolutely untrue the police stopped a van that they alleged he was a passenger in opened up a duffel bag this was someone else's van and found a gun which was concealed inside of a duffel bag inside of a van that was not his that's the extent of this case Joey Marino is reputedly the leader of a dissident faction of the Philadelphia mob in August of 93 Marino survived while an associate was killed in a South Philadelphia Ambush police maintain the FBI tip that led to Poor's arrest indicated he was allegedly out to hit Marino last month would that mean paoro is now A Marked Man should he fear for his life well I'm not going to come out and say that he is a target or what but he knows in his mind what the circumstances were and uh if the circumstances were as we believe it then he should be concerned that's the bottom line polidoro will face the gun charge in September today he had nothing to say about Joey Marino paoro was in a big hurry to get out of City Hall as soon as he saw daylight today he took off running just what or who he might be running from is anybody's guess John Rollins Channel 6 Action News during the trial prosecutors argued that Anthony Tura and his son Lewis plotted to kill mob underboss Joey Marino they played a secret FBI tape with Anthony Tura allegedly talking about ways to do the job home not going to go the Sal that's all we got a new Sal there remember me when he goes in the House 2 3:00 in the morning 4:00 in the morning the cops are going to leave they're not going to watch the house they're going to leave that's when you just dump them grenades right in there with a couple ofos can't Jake Griffin was Anthony tur's attorney oh I would imagine you could you could gleam from uh the testimony in this case that Vengeance uh I would imagine could be a motive but I I have no idea the remaining defense attorneys involved say they're completely baffled by all of this the poor man was suffering almost terminally from some sort of illness he looked like death walking why anybody would bother to kill him is something we just don't understand but one attorney did point out similarities between tur's murder and the murder of drug dealer Frank Russo in June of 1995 Russo was shot in the head just like Anthony Tura that particular shooting is identical to the shooting of Frank Russo who is uh one of the people in this trial who has been spoken about Russo's father was in court on Monday reportedly staring down one of the defendants saying quote he killed my son are you guys going in and talk try to talk to Marin you guys want to talk to Joey [Applause] burning a how's it going today how you pretty good what's going on nothing much tell us anything you tell us anything anything you can tell us about the investigation no comment [Applause] morning than Joy can you tell us what about Mr T killing what on the ground [Music] [Music] [Music] hell want the lady knowing that she's right next door how [Applause] you I know yeah well I see you [Music]
