Skar SDR 2 18s Box Design

all right back with another video let's see today oh the box gonna be a 218 scar sdr and it's going to be um 44 inches wide so these can kind of go in like any type of suv that you got really it's gonna be pretty wise i don't know about a car maybe if you got a 44 trump but i know even the crown of eights and lincoln ain't even got no uh 44 inch chunk they 40. so but for this one gonna be 44 wide i can't remember how deep and the height gonna be 20. i think but anyway on this one i'm going to try to show you a little bit kind of uh how i start so or kind of not just how i start how like what i start with first you know screwing it in and everything i start with the uh technically i start with the top it looks like the bottom when you start but it's really the top so like i put the front on and i put the bottom this one's a little different because the speakers is going to be in the front and not on top they're going to be right here right here and they're going to be a port straight down the middle so and i was going to do it like 40. you know that's what they really wanted was like something i guess that you could drop in a cranberry lincoln too but it makes the port so small i've done them before and the speaker's just like wall-to-wall with the port and it's just it's too close you know when you got a tahoe you got that space that's what the guy got so you got a 44 but this can fit in really like i got a 97 cherokee you can fit in the back of that you know anything like that expeditions you know with some exteriors you know anything kind of like just a little suv with a smaller chunk someone cut the light on this is the front back piece this piece look a little rough here's the thing too if you ever got pieces that look a little rough most of the times the other side looks straight so same thing with that one the other side gonna be straight so you want to point that stuff toward the inside of the box so it's not on the outside this just be from wear and tear when they uh got it in the store and when they're sliding it moving you know they pick it up with forklift slot do all that stuff and then so this is my top and bottom these my two sides i start with my top and bottom and i put my front pieces on it's gonna be double so i got one two three four front pieces so underneath that is my back piece so it's really going to look like this you know these are the two front pieces that's going to be the pour and these two pieces right here are for the port so that's really all it is you want to start by laying one of these pieces down putting your front on flipping it up putting your sides on then you got to pretty square it off right there then i go ahead and throw my port in the middle and then i put the back piece on and then i'll take it cut the holes out you know come back around and put that uh the bottom piece on i start with the top because in case something don't line up or something's a little off you know you're gonna have it lined up all where you can see it at the top part that's where you want it to be lined up pretty good you know the bottom if it's a little off it ain't gonna make too much of a difference you just don't want it to be off on the top end i'll show y'all what i'm talking about later actually i'm gonna cut the holes out first since this is the front i don't want to put the box together then have to cut out the holes because it's gonna be double layered and i don't want to cut through two layers because i just bought a new jigsaw you really want to just cut through one because over time you know it's gonna burn up your jigsaw trying to cut through two tools are one of the most important things this really i really cheaped out on this these are here with like 30 bucks at lowe's which is really a good price for real but i had another one just like this but i burnt it up because i was trying to cut through two sheets so i ain't gonna do that anymore i ain't gonna cut through two sheets like because they're gonna burn it off same thing with this though this right here it was a hundred dollars i think for this but it really saved me a lot of money in the long run because i was pre-drilling i had to pre-drill the hole and then i had to put the screw in so i was using two drills i had two quarter driller pre-drilling blue and not having to put the hole in with the other drill and it wasn't even driving the screws all the way down like this dude impact if you want me to do a video i guess talking about the tools that you need i'll do a video of the tools you know like i guess what i would recommend you to have you know everything that you had and then what would you need like at the least i guess just to get started just to make a box what would you need at the least so i think we'll do a video like that soon so back to couldn't hold though so i made a video on how to cut perfect circles if you ain't seen that just go to my channel and uh look at that or i'll just leave the link in the description to that video so you can see how to cut your holes out perfect but that's what we're gonna start with all right so now looking at this hole how it's going to be the speaker is going to be like right down here and it's going to be close but you know it's still going to have a top and a bottom but if i would have went back i probably would have made this box a little bit taller but it actually might look good but you're gonna wait and see i won't be able to see where the speakers in you know because i'm selling it but it might turn out good the speaker might just i think the speaker in you know a little bit like about right here but you know i just wanted more hangover than this but it's going to be double layered so it shouldn't be a problem of you know if this was only going to be single layered i'd be scared of this because it would probably come loose but it's going to be fine because it's double layered a little trick i do too if you're doing a box like this even if it's a double bathroom after you cut out your two holes you put it down on your second piece and draw your circle out and then you already got it you don't have to do the little trick again the trick for my video on how to get the perfect hole [Music] [Music] so now i get the hard part out of the way i'm not going to say that the hard part but it kind of is it takes a second to do that and you also get like sawdust everywhere and i gotta be outside to do it which in alabama is pretty hot that's why i make my boxes in the house because i can do it you know what 70 degrees that's pretty nice so i got that out the way so usually i probably i'll take a break card now i'm about to go get me something give me a little drink of water and i'll come back and start putting the box together also i broke my foot so i need to be taking it easy i ain't supposed to be walking but gotta make some money so what i'm gonna start with is uh i'm gonna take this piece like i said i'm gonna put that bad part on the inside then i'm gonna mount the front you know one side the other front on the other side and they both gonna be double layer okay so i got it leaned up i put a little attach screw right there right there to hold the two pieces together and then i screwed it down i did the one two three them's catching the first piece and then i just went in between these and them catching the second piece which really all i ain't even need to put in a second piece but i just did it just to do it you know i'm just doing something and i spaced it all out evenly so it looked pretty good so what i'm gonna do now lift it up and then the two side piece so you just slide the side piece in there and then it really started looking like a box the hardest part was like getting out the awkward stage you're really just getting it set up so i lean it up against here and i hold this in my foot and i get it where i want it put the glue on it screw it down just like that we flip it up we'll screw the front piece onto that end i'm gonna go ahead and put the other side on though now all right the other side now you see it from this end see this is going to be the top that's why i started at the top you want to line everything up make sure everything looks straight and anything that don't anything that's going to be weird looking it's going to be at the bottom or either it's gonna be at the back where you can't see it like even if this you know this for the back ain't gonna see if it's got a little hangover you know says a little over you know three quarters you ain't gonna see it because it's at the back that's when you want to start on the front so i was gonna flip it up and screw but i'm gonna go ahead and slide the port in here where it's supposed to go and get a screw down on the top end and then i'm gonna flip it and screw everything that need to be screwed from the front end see the port's now on get it lined up right in the middle screw it in from the top man let's now take it i'm gonna screw a side port port another side flip it and do the rest front screw down and see uh space in my evening you don't have to do that but what i do is i use a tape measure i put the two ends down first i just put them kind of where i think i want them to be then i measure from there to here and then i mark where the halfway is same thing i'll go from there to there mark where the halfway is so i can have all my screws lined up because i'm selling these i want them to look good this one's coming out pretty good so far i'm going to turn it over and put the back piece on now the back side on and we're just about done i put a pretty good bit of screws across here i usually don't do this many and i also added some more to the side just because this is 18s and i don't want the dude to blow the box part so i put a lot of screws that's really overkill but it looks good so flip it over to the back end or the bottom end and the box should be done i forgot to mention at this point before i put the bottom on i go ahead and go through the whole inside with glue so you can go ahead and make sure the box is sealed up pretty good just go ahead and just run like glue in all the corners so that's what i'm about to do right now got my glue in all the corners i just put it in there and then i spread it with my finger like that i mean even if you don't want to get glue in your fingers you can use like a napkin or something or you could just i do that so i don't have to use as much to fill it up you could just like straight go across the light so i missed this spot so i'm gonna show you could just straight go across it like that and leave it like that but i like to just you know run my finger just to make sure you know it gets in there see like right here you just don't want anything that looks like that and put another piece right there make sure everything's filled up right here you just want to make sure you get glue on every crack just to seal up the box real good now i got the bottom screw down so it's done i'll pick it up flip it the right way pretty good size let me go ahead and get a cut sheet for you so i'm going to start off with the top um you got 44 wide then from here to here is 23. so 44 by 23. that's for the top and the bottom and then everything on the middle is eighteen and a half tall so that piece eighteen and a half every piece i'm about to tell you now is gonna be 18 and a half tall but for the different ways the side both to the side this side and this side is going to be 20 and three quarters this way and then you know it's got the 18 and a half up and then the front end right here this piece 19 and a half this way then you know 18 and a half up the port that comes in the middle is 11 inches deep it'll go behind your two sheets so for that front piece that 19 half you need two of those so you can put them in there just like that and then the port will just sit right behind those two pieces and it's 11 inches long and then 18 and a half tall and then the last piece the back end you know 44 wide 44 wide just like the top and then you know it's sandwiched in between so it's 18 and a half 44 by 18 and a half i hope that helps y'all so you can get the sdr 18s i think they're going for like 125 130 something i'm not sure at the tax you know a piece so that's pretty good deal if you want to get 218s you know builds your box would probably cost you 120 130 so you'd be looking at what 125 250 three 380 380 for this let you go ahead and say 400 you know you need some speaker wire other stuff you know little stuff but you could be two brand new 18s with a box built specially made just for them speakers so this box made to the specs for the sdr-18s by scar so that's gonna be the end of the video um i won't let y'all know i also do uh box design so if you got something like especially you know something different that you know i don't cover on my channel which i only have a few box
