It doesn't seem to matter how many times siphonophores are explained to me, I still don't get it. If the digestion ones are specialized from the mobilization ones, how do the mobilization ones get nutrients?!
How is this distinct from, say, animals?
I learned about them from the Octonauts my daughter watches over and over.
These are super cool. I heard about a cryptid/urban legend (I'm not a big believer but I think they're such interesting stories) of something called the Black Carpet which occurs on the sea floor, that sounded like a plausible siphonophore. I wonder if we will ever discover anything like that/the inspiration for said creature
