YOU CAN SEE THAT MAN WITH THAT PAINT GUN. HE'S BASICALLY MARKING OFF THE AREA THAT IS EVENTUALLY GOING TO BE CLEARED. THEY ARE GOING TO FILL THAT LARGE HOLE. THAT IS A PORTION OF THE SINKHOLE. I CAN TELL YOU THAT WHEN WE ARRIVED THIS AFTERNOON, PROBABLY AROUND 1: 30 OR SO, THE VEHICLE THAT DROVE OVER IT, THE DRIVER WAS QUITE SURPRISED WHEN IT ALL HAPPENED. JUST BEFORE GETTING TO THE INTERSECTION OF 14th AND GUERRERO, JAMIE MICHAELS SAID THAT HER DRIVING TO GO HAYWIRE. >> MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT A BOMB WENT OFF. I HEARD A BIG EXPLOSION. I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT POSSIBLY COULD HAVE CAUSED THAT. WE GOT OUT OF THE CAR. >> Reporter: WARNING LIGHTS IN THE SUV OFF LAST. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A HALT. WHEN SHE AND HER PASSENGER GOT OUT, THEY NOTICED TWO OF THE TIRES WERE BLOWN OUT. SIZABLE HOLES IN THE PAVEMENT, SAYING THAT THEY WENT OVER IT. >> WE WERE IN SHOCK. WE WERE HAPPY THAT WE WEREN'T AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SINKHOLE. THAT'S PRETTY DEEP. IT GOES ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE STREET. >> Reporter: POLICE REALIZED AND TAPED OFF THE STREET. THEY CHECKED THEM TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY WERE OKAY. CITY CREWS TRY TO FIGURE OUT HOW DEEP AND HOW WIDE THE SINKHOLE IS. THEY HAVE THEIR FIRST ANSWER. THEY SAY IT IS ABOUT EIGHT FEET DEEP. THE QUESTION IS NOW WHETHER THE RAIN IS GOING TO DISRUPT THE PROCESS. IT IS SURROUNDED BY FREEWAY RAMPS. THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR MANY DRIVERS THAT USE IT.
