[Music] [Music] good evening good evening hello what a beautiful snowy picture i've seen you've been looking at fantastic stuff isn't it yes it's uh it's a webcam that we're looking at tonight we'll be talking to kate mcrae it's one of hers wildlife kate um a snowy scene that's meant to be the red fox camera so hopefully there's some red foxes still it could be i think people put their eyes peeled on that and of course it's snow time it's great to look out for footprints in the snow and it's been snowing around the country so when you are out on your daily walk have a look down i found some footprints this morning actually i'm going to show them to see if you can identify them oh no i don't like quizzes like that yeah yep here we are okay hold on i'm going to show the uh show the viewers first okay let's see if we can do this hold that up now like that let's have a look any idea what those are what do you think and they were very excited running around biting it never seen it [Music] but you're absolutely right with all that snow if it does persist until tomorrow people can have that opportunity to look for look for footprints yeah hopefully they'll find more than poodle yeah i'll find a lot more than poodle but lots of people are saying hello already this evening so we've got amanda from kent shawn from leicester we've got jim from rainworth and from orkney paula from manchester elaine from merseyside and maria from bristol hello to everyone watching thank you for tuning in to our little sibc broadcast i'm just going to show you one other thing as well just as well this has been sent to me we can show you this on the phone up here this was a photograph that was said to be by matt dude you might remember we've spoken to matt a couple times before on sibc he's a macro mat and you'll find him on social media and this is a photograph he took today look at that it's exquisite it's like a palace it is ice palace it is it's um it's frost on the on his balcony on a wooden balcony uh extremely magnified and i urge you to look at matt's stream on uh instagram and twitter where he's posted this because it it is exquisitely beautiful really is stunning stuff matt's uh taking advantage of the uh of the cold weather what are we doing 40 less fat free we haven't been asked to do this i promise christmas it's the last packet we've got you'll be glad today yeah we went through a few of those and i've reluctantly put them to one side for now for now we'll blow up them later on now of course we're not the only ones who have been out and about looking for wildlife and in fact there's this amazing uh clip that we got sent in by dave goodwin uh this is of gold finches feeding on some lavender seed in his garden have a little look at this dave goodwin is it running here we are oh yes yes yes oh what a pig that's lovely isn't it it's stunning isn't it look at that lavender such a good plant it's beautiful it smells great i love it because then dogs go out and they love it they roll in it and they come inside smelling beautiful which is very rare because it's great for poodle personal hygiene yeah it's also quite good and the reason that we planted it was because neither deer nor rabbits eat it um which means that it doesn't get nibbled away but of course it does produce that surge of nectar particularly popular with uh bees and bumblebees of course and who'd have thought goldfinches in there in the wintertime yeah exactly of course if you don't have a guard and just look out your window because often you will find a lot of activity out there you know there's still ways of connecting no matter what green space you have access to it's my best make the most of it and of course we can't ignore the fact that everybody got a bit of snow i know ours is pretty much gone already we've got like a bit an inch of sludge if an inch is generous yeah and um yeah i was a bit disappointed because i love snow but until hampton we really hardly ever get any uh but kate you know of course our wonderful kate did get some and this is what she had out of her window this morning look at that look it's like a snowy winter land oh you know kate's not too far away from us either is she and she's got lots of snow thing is based we're in this double river flood plain we've got the itching and the test so we're very sheltered quite low level and if it snows anywhere around here it's up on the hills it's just not quite cold enough it never gets quite cold enough in southampton and the newfoundlands disappointing for me because i love snow i really do i enjoy it well listen if it got down to -11 i've been out there blowing bubbles yes we would have been blowing if you've seen winter watch the first episode we started the first episode with this gorgeous frozen bubble that you could just do it has to be lower than minus 11. hopefully it's people been out there doing it actually the bubble just freezes over and it's like a glow that's stunning anyway what have we got coming up we've got my van grips coming up because today we're going to be talking we've got our mugs at the ready you see we're weak in advance but such as our anticipation here we've got our big garden bird watch mugs poised ready for next weekend megan and i will be doing the big garden bird watch of course the rspb citizen science scheme last year no less than half a million people took part and over many years they've generated a lot of really good data so now is going to be talking to us a bit about that of course yeah online fair and live lot what live today live today yeah okay live today we've got kate mckay coming up any minute now yeah but when we get get past the quiz and you're doing the cruise for a chat i'm gonna do the quiz i'm very excited so um chris had chris had a bit of a late night last night a very late night last night he was practicing and an early morning swimming practicing your guitar you were walking the dogs early this morning a cocktail or two consumed and so he found himself napping this afternoon having a nap and of course right now ish will be that's you know well i was reading actually really interesting book which kept me wait longer than i wanted to be kept awake but what it meant was that of course it was up to me to find the quiz object now i always get told off for rooting in chris's wildlife drawers because he'll always accuse me of not putting things in the right place or sometimes just taking stuff which never happens i never take anything yeah i never mix anything up yeah i know i don't but i had great pleasure because there was no alternative i could i wouldn't go wake him up obviously it's quite tired so i got the joy of looking through it and there's lots of boxes stacked up and i decided to go obviously for the one on the bottom because that's where all the good stuff's gonna be isn't it yeah so it's all gonna be and i came across i'm gonna try the answer this little envelope here and i'm gonna read to you what it says on the outside chris enclosed is half of a center of a toe and a claw of a x which i amputated on the 5th of march 2010 one for your collection of nature's weird items from roger okay so i thought a bit of a toe would be a great addition to our quiz so the answer the question for our quiz today whose toe who's toe and toe now who's toe and toenail does this belong to look at that that's a pretty precious tone that's a cool toe isn't it hey don't you wish that was yours no it'd be pretty hard to kind of do a bit of pedicure no look at that you know what you know last week we had the latwin crest yeah and i was kind of sort of i don't know being mildly smug about the fact that i thought it might be one of the only latwin crest in a matchbox anywhere in the uk oh this is very definitely the only toe and claw of this organism in an envelope in the uk i'm sure of it surely well that's a challenge that's been out here because if anyone can identify should we give them a couple of clues go on you go okay so the the toe itself is quite long as you can see that's only half of it so it would have had a much longer longer toe the toe would have been about so big and so extra yeah it's a bird with long toes it's a bird with a long tail long toes and this time of year is often that the best time of the year to see them um because they will quite elusive yeah they will walk out onto the ice and you can get quite good views of them but that's a toe of some distinction isn't it yes it is just consider just keep your nose out of my um my bottom he wasn't happy when he found out i've gone rooting through his box i got a message when i sent in the photo to fabian said this is our quiz i immediately got a message saying you've been rifling through my boxes i said yes i have and then he wasn't very happy he also wasn't very asleep either but anyway there we are okay it's time for our guest this week now kate mckay she'll be known to very many of you she runs an excellent series of webcams fantastic website actually have to say really informative interacts with school she's got webcams not only in her garden where she started but all over the uk so here's a little clip of kate explaining a little bit about what she does and how she's going to be engaged with next week's big garden bird watch how often do you do this in lockdown i'll just make a cup of tea the routine putting the kettle on making a cup of tea and having a biscuit can give you a sort of calming effect and possibly take you away from some of the stresses you may be experiencing and how often do you do this stop take a little time look out your window and notice nature i'm lucky i live in a very fairly rural location and i've got plenty of wildlife right outside my doorstep but whatever window you've got i bet you could notice some kind of nature just take a little time being connected to nature is what keeps me happy remember that kettle it had a power cable that plugged in to the mains it gave it his energy in order to function watching the birds and feeding the birds is a bit like that for me i'll come and show you what i mean i have bird feeders everywhere there's one here right outside my front door this feeding platform's halfway up my garden you can watch this on my live stream of course i have their table and here's four more they're everywhere and here from this window feeder hello blue tip i even watched the birds from my desk this little blue tit is feeding literally one meter away from me rubbing as well this daily contact with nature and noticing it such as the birds visiting or anything in fact to do with nature it could be a simple leaf or a frosty morning all of those things can make you feel better but for me it's definitely the birds bird feeding doesn't need to be complicated you could just put a little dish with a few scraps out and a bowl of water and watch them from your kitchen window or you could get like me and have bird feeders everywhere it's a bit addictive but whatever you do the birds will just bring you so much pleasure watching your own birds is obviously best but you may not be able to do that in which case you can watch mine or in fact you can watch cameras from all over the world on all sorts of things these cameras live stream on my website so any point you can log on and see what's visiting and apparently even watching film of wildlife has the same kind of effect i don't think it's quite as good as seeing it with your own eyes but it's a close second best bird watching is brill so next time you make a cuppa why don't you take it outside why not cable into that amazing energy and that feel good factor that watching the birds can give you i guarantee you'll get hooked bye for now there you go and what an amazing garden what an amazing thing to do to be connecting like that to all the wildlife that's out there so important kate shares everything in her garden with everyone it's the leash private garden i know the least private garden anywhere in the union she opens it up to the internet but thank goodness for her doing that because we get an insight into some amazing animals lives yeah indeed anyway hey can join us now good uh good evening kate are you there hi i'm indeed good evening hi how are you i'm very good thank you very snowy but um it's absolutely beautiful out there today you've had a lot of snow have you yeah we've had loads probably coming on 30 centimetres today oh my god no today so my feeders have been mega mega busy and i'm really hoping my foxes make an appearance although the food i've put out seems to be rapidly disappearing because it's snowing still oh i see well they'll sniff through the snow and yeah and even pounce yeah you might get some pouncing actually the north east digging to um uncover the food i've put out for them well we'll um we'll keep an eye on that feeder throughout and if they appear fabian will give us a shout and we'll cut to it but i've got it on my phone as well so i can keep an eye out right all right so kate i mean obviously you and i met well i was it's probably quite a long time ago now isn't it really when you were first starting out with your very first web cameras but you've you know it's this is it's taken for now i think it was about 2012 i first came on spring watch with michaela in my little mammal box that's it yeah things have sort of taken off somewhat since then what got you started in the first place what you know you've got i know you've got that mammal box and you told us about that at the time and you were just keen to see what you had and then share it with everyone else yeah yeah i mean i've i've always been keen and i've obviously always watched but the technology side i love i absolutely love technology so i started with a blog because i've always been a diary writer and people were so i was amazed how many people were interested and then i started i got a um nest box camera kit about i don't know probably coming on about 13 years ago now and just watched it on a tv and then wanted to record it and then technology moved on and i started plugging them in and then realized i could live stream and it's just well it's taken over my life as you can see how many people are watching because now you've got cameras not just in your snowy garden but you've got cameras that you've helped put up all over the world over the uk and even some overseas yeah yeah that's right so i've got a lot here um i've also got a lot at a site i managed in morven and they've just had high-speed broadband put in so there'll be even more hopefully this yeah and then i set um a couple up in scotland one at aegis and one upper um a friend's property up on the black isle just north of inverness and now and then last well this time last year big january um last year i went to ecuador and i set a camera up on there and i had no idea what was going to come or whether the camera would keep working in all those wet conditions and i tell you it is incredible i just love it so look at some of it now it's a colorful array of species you've got there we've got all of those tannagers and hummingbirds coming in that's amazing yeah yeah it's it's it's just been a fabulous um webcam and for me it's the species i i'd never even heard of i had no idea i couldn't id any so in a way it's been really good for me because it's given me an idea of what it's like people coming new to birding because you get people like us we get used to be a no to id or the sort of british birds we're likely to see but when you start looking at a camera like this and nothing you see you know what it is it's been really good for me because i'm starting to learn to id all those just as the same way that people use my webcams to learn to id the british birds that they're going to get in their garden and how many um people kate do you get coming to your webcams because i mean i mean i know i look at them all the time you must get so many people yeah i mean it varies i think what amazes me is that people from all over the world look at them so i get emails from australia and um all over the states japan i've had people email me from all sorts of places saying how much they really enjoy you know logging on and especially at this time when people are locked down or they maybe haven't got their own garden or they just want that little bit of connection with um natural history and wildlife it's a really nice way especially if you're logging onto a camera here in the uk and you're seeing species that you might see you know in your own garden or out when you're out on your um local walk or whatever so i really think it's in an important way to engage um and learn about our great british wildlife yeah it's really important from the perspective of our mental health right now as well to be kind of looking at these cameras i mean even just looking at you know this through a screen is now proven to boost our mood and which is fantastic really yeah exactly and i mean our cameras everywhere and they all come and wire back into my office so when i'm sitting at my office i can see them all all the time and if i'm not at my office i can log on on my account on my phone so i'm i'm probably more connected to my garden wildlife um than most people just because i can watch it 24 7 and i know exactly what's going on all the time nothing can escape me like chris said um you know it's probably no way anybody's going to sneak in there i wouldn't may not know it and and what about the technology kate you mentioned obviously it's come on there and you do all of the wiring and all of the maintenance and everything yourself that's got to be pretty much a full-time job as well as everything else um yeah my life is pretty much dominated by cameras um yeah i mean some of the real technical wiring um i i have installed professionally because i couldn't do that but i installed all the cameras here now now i've got the infrastructure i can install all the cameras and most of them are sort of high high-end cctv cameras now um so they plug into like my router and then they all like they all cable back into my um into my computer so i can see all my different um cameras all over well my garden and the uk and i can log into the ones i manage in the seven acre site in morgan as well and so you know i can i can see everything and i've learned literally from from the ground upwards i've got no technical training in this it's just the need to know and and the want to be able to do it and share it and it actually it's pretty it's it's not too bad now the technology is moving on so quickly that it's it's accessible to to most now yeah what would you say to someone who maybe you know has got a bird box or they've got a really active feeder and they wanted to put kind of a camera up there because you don't have to get really kind of these fancy state-of-the-art cameras do you you can get kind of ones that are you know whether that's you get a trail cam or a different type i mean it's a fantastic insight so what would you suggest for someone wanting to get a bit more of an up-close and personal view of one of their um birds well i mean there's so much you can do now from from just using your phone um to using like i do the cctv type ones to using ones that just plug straight back into your tv or i'm working on a really exciting project at the moment of a little camera called the birdsy cam that hopefully will be available to buy in the spring and and that's another little um what we call an ip camera so it uses a network cable um and picks up your wi-fi um and then that you can just get the little app and then you can see your camera straight away but the amazing thing about it is it also id's the birds so it's using artificial intelligence which is just blows my mind um and one of my live cameras is is actually live streaming with the ai working so you'll see a little pink line and every time a bird lands on my bird table um you'll see a little pink square go around the bird and that's that's showing how the artificial intelligence is been taught to look for the shape of a bird idea that there's a bird there and then um through lots of you know sort of training that ai gets to recognize for example a blue tick from any angle it appears and then this little camera then records each time it visits saves it onto the icloud so i can go back and just scroll through and see everything that's arrived and species-wise and it's it's just blowing my mind that technology so i've been you know really enjoying working with this project and that was a little kickstarter project with a company um some guys in vienna who are doing amazing job with this bit of technology and hopefully it'll be available in the spring yeah you were very kindly he sent me a couple of cameras and uh now that we've moved we've recently moved house i didn't want to set them up at the previous place but um i've been getting some technical advice from the spring watch team actually or the winter watch people yeah and uh yeah so they've told me basically how i can make that work i'm not quite so perhaps no technically gifted as you are when it comes to set up all those things well because we're spoiled we've got you know nigel and joe and yeah and and ian that they have that for us they're a part of the winter watch team that are responsible for on the live cameras and they yeah and they kind of go out and it's their kind of job i guess to film all that wildlife live they talk about bnc's and yeah and all of those sort of bits of wires and there's wires everywhere anyway yeah tell me how to do it so we're going to get those up soon and obviously i'll feed back to you and uh we just put up a buzzard feeding station in the garden the actual feeding station itself comes down i've just bought some heavy duty crocodile clips which i'm going to clip me roadkill that i find on there and then you pull it back up and it goes back up it's about 25 feet up and this will obviously keep the food away from the dogs and any other animals that would otherwise be stealing it if it was anywhere near the ground and um so i can't wait to do that and i'm going to put one of your birdseed cameras on the buzzard feeder that's my plan that yeah incredible i'm very jealous chris because um i have got a few plans for a sort of raptor type feeder station here because i've got tawnies as well that i've seen coming down so i'm hoping you might you might get some other stuff on there as well that would be really exciting well we'd like you to have tony's because they're very vocal around the house and i put up four nest boxes i got from raptor aid which was a bit wobbly at the top of the ladder but they're up and the birds are still in the garden i have no idea i've been out with my thermal camera trying to see if they're spending any time near the boxes but i can't discern that at this point in time but of course they'll make up their mind in the next month and with any luck they'll be in those boxes and then they would be coming to that at night which would be fantastic and the buzzards in the day tornadoes if i get to live stream my cameras from youview i've got a wonderful tourney box with three cameras and she's looking in at the moment she's bred there for the last um three years so i'm hoping i'm to be able to live stream that one which will be fabulous if i can that'd be lovely well just to wrap up kate next week's big garden bird watch as you were saying in your little clip that we showed at the beginning there keen participant of course um people could do their big garden bird watch by looking at your feet yeah i think it is yeah and i noticed one thing we saw on there when we were looking through you get ball finches coming to your feeders i do but i've only seen them twice i think this year um sadly i was hoping they would reappear um but there's um the platform that i've i helped um with up in scotland at hillockhead is oh my god amazing so that's another one to look at i think there were 10 species on that platform the other day in the snow um and probably about 30 birds on there but it's quite a remote location and um tim's one of the only people who really feeds with any um vigor up there so the birds are literally i think the whole of the black aisle is is literally coming to his platform and that feeder and a couple of mine will be going out live as part of the rspb garden bird watch next week fantastic stuff okay kate thanks ever so much for joining us and telling us about your work obviously do check out kate's website and all the social media feeds website is www.wildlifekate.co.uk so make sure you go and check out all those feeds going on there activities for home learners as well on there loads of activities for people to learn how to id birds and um activities you could do at home with your kids or if you haven't got any kids you can still do them yeah and all of your support you do for schools and everything else so it's a it's a great website with plenty to see and do so do take a look at that kate thanks ever so much i'll let you know i'll get on with that little camera obviously if it starts juicing you can always stream it for me you can have you know i'll keep it up that would be wonderful thank you very much thank you okay lovely to see you cheers kate hi top stars oh i love that i love looking at all of her feeds there's some amazing wildlife that comes up you know it's pretty brilliant might you know if i if if i was a wood mouse a bank vault or a bluetooth you know kate's gardens would be formerly probably the top of the choice wouldn't it yeah yeah it's good it you would want to go there she does the most amazing little areas isn't she for them that she creates yeah it's brilliant but also the other thing i've just thought i was moaning today about the uh vast quantity of bird food that we're putting out because they empty the feeders in two days we've got two of these and in two days the gold finches are just tearing through that yeah well we're feeding the entirety of things she's feeding up everyone and it's on the black island i think we're feeding the new yeah we are there's so many gold finches in there and all the tits and stuff tearing through that food but then i just sort of thought that be nothing compared to kate's no oh gosh you must get through so many sometimes all the mammals and everything else peanuts goodness me goodness me okay now we keep mentioning that next week we'll be mug in hand for doing the uh big garden bird watch megan and i we're gonna be on saturday aren't we doing a live stream here we're gonna be live with the rspb doing a big garden bird watch live stream and we'll be doing it taking part ourselves of course yeah and talking about what we're seeing and all the amazing birds that are out there that you can hopefully join in with great project but to tell you a bit more about how to do it and how to get involved we've got maya bamboo now maya's done some things for us before as well yeah she's a fantastic young broadcaster she is yeah she's a fantastic naturalist fantastic conservation snap say congratulations to maya because recently she was appointed as an ambassador for back to birds on the brink so for birds on the brink which is amazing yeah isn't it so here is maya tell us a little bit more about our big garden birdwatch hi everyone my name's maya and i'm an 18 year old wildlife photographer birder and all-round nature lover i'm here to tell you about an exciting survey you can take part in next weekend which is the 29th to the 31st of january of course it's the big garden bird watch run by the rspb all you need to do is count the bird in your garden it's a great survey to take part in as it helps us monitor uk garden bird populations and it's a real good idea to tell your friends and family about it especially during these hard times where we all need nature you can take part in your garden or even from your window or balcony [Music] why not make your very own bird feeder like i am you can hang it up especially for this weekend get some sunflower hearts lard raisins and a dry bird food mix there's a hole at the bottom of some cupcake cases and then thread through a piece of knotted string then simply mix the dry ingredients together melt down some lard and add this the dry ingredients pop these in the fridge for a few hours and there you have some brilliant bird feeders so all you need to do is pick an hour between the 29th and the 31st of january pick your location whether it be from your window from your balcony or from your garden and count the birds you see [Music] but remember don't count the birds in flight and only count the highest number of individuals of a species you see this avoids double counting [Music] and lastly you need to submit your results into the rsbb via their website or by post using a form [Music] so that's all from me i hope you enjoyed my video and i wish you all a great big golden bird watch thank you very much thank you it sounds great yeah that's right we'll be buying those poised next weekend we'll tell you in a minute just how you can engage with all of that and what's going to be going on next saturday all good stuff right come on now i know you've all been on the edge of your chairs waiting for the big reveal of whose toe is this i've never asked that before you know it's a question i never thought i'd you know i'd say it's guess the toe that's long about why look at that long claw right shall i tell you that tim said it was a velociraptor yes but darren danny jason jeff penny linzo bay wildlife rufus paula kate simon little al poppy emily debbie valen denise got it right there we go look at that it's an amazing thing isn't it yeah and of course is the toe of the bitten it's a bitterness come on yes it is come on look at that hey do you know what there were blokes out there right and they've got they've got ferraris in their garage right you know there are people out there they've got like 200 acres states with a 20-bedroom home yeah you know there are a lot of people that might have material wealth but i don't care but you i sleep in a house where next in the bed you know in the room next door next to me [Music] buttons there i never i don't know you have to just probably give me the turnout give me the turntable give me the turn now right um look at that honestly you couldn't make it up could you oh so yeah amputated by roger yeah i wonder what happened to the bit and obviously the bitter was okay it might have been limped for the rest of its life it was injured wasn't it and they had to do a surgery to remove the toe to make it better what about that absolutely sensation the toe of a bitter don't ever go in my boxes all right well on that note i think it's time we said some happy birthdays so we've got leela robinson happy birthday for the 26th and we've got carolyn sarah whose birthday is on the 28th of january very happy birthday to you carolyn are you sniffing that toe you just realized that the bitten's toe is a very characteristic odour is it oh it certainly has a little whifter it's a bit much harder oh that's a privilege isn't it that's extraordinary of a sunday evening you can sit down you can sit down in anticipation of 40 gluten-free vegan lentil chips with sea salt flavor and and a mustard and you can sniff the musty toe of a bitter gum yeah i'm a lucky bloke you are a right i'm very lucky good yes well gail the at the fragal is also on twitter fraggle frankel soaring gail the fraggle is also on twitter and she wants to wish her son matt a very happy 14th birthday for february the 29th of january so very happy birthday to you man i hope you have a fantastic 14th birthday and of course with some birthdays that are happening today so we've got john harrison wrote in to tell us that his mum suzanne harrison is 65 on the 24th of january she loves the show and has watched every broadcast thank you so much thank you so much happy birthday susan i would also like to wish her very happy birthday for the 24th of january to sharon cottie's uh who also really enjoys our srbc broadcast thank you so much very much happy birthday to all of you okay um we are just going to repeat our request that you subscribe it doesn't cost anything i think subscribers we said last week was a youtube terminology which implies that you might have to pay you'd have to pay at all um it just means that going forward it'll be easier for us to communicate with you about our broadcast and what we're going to be doing and when we get uh free of the shackles of winter watch and have some time we too actually like wildlife kate are going to be investigating some new technology which might give us uh enormous capacity to change what we do in terms of our little broadcast yeah so we're going to be investigating that as soon as we get some um some time yeah now of course lindsay chapman is you know absolutely one of my heroes but she will be here very soon i'm very pleased to say so she'll be catching up with us and talking to us about all of the photos and videos that you said there please do continue to send us in photos and videos on our facebook chat and twitter and everything else tag us in them because we'd love to see it and lindsay of course is across all of that most of the time and so she'll be back to tell us a little bit about that but if you are missing her like we are then i really suggest that you go on to pick of the week on bbc radio 4 which she print which she transmits and presents isn't she which is fantastic doesn't it doesn't so you can go on to www bbc dot co dot uk forward slash program slash m zero zero m nine r i think if you just type in pick of the week bbc radio footage yeah you'll find it so just people at home so i can get into my length of chips and feel even more smug about my bit and toe um so next week uh we'll be back with winter watch of course we'll see starting on tuesday we've got a great week of uh stuff coming up oh it's gonna be so good you're doing your stuff you're doing all the reputations i'm really excited because this week we're showing some four films that i've been busy making along with the team and it's been you know a real great pleasure in making them because they're about animals that don't have the best reputation but we want to challenge that a little bit because they deserve a little bit more love than they get so it's going to be some amazing science interesting facts and i get to go out in the dark i get to go in the water i get to go and do all this stuff to go and get up close to them so it's uh yeah i hope you enjoy it and we're back on tuesday at eight o'clock on bbc we are indeed and this week as well we concentrate a lot more on our starlings under abrasive pier we've been trying to save those for week two lots of activity there so we'll be unpacking all of that understanding what the starlings are doing throughout the course maybe even some wildlife in the snow might be you know after this weekend we might get some good snow yeah because the cameras are still up in scotland yeah they've had some then yeah kate's got 30 centimeters um so we'll be back next uh saturday we'll be doing our bit and the big garden bird watch is taking place that's on the 29th to the 31st there's plenty of opportunities for you to do that the rspp is going digital this year with loads of live feeders kate mentioned that a couple of hers will be on yeah and there'll be plenty of others too lots of live action yeah yeah to encourage people to look out of their own windows and take part and we'll be streaming at nine till four on the rspb youtube youtube channel so do check that out next weekend the rspb's youtube channel quite keen to build that up against many people looking at that it's a really good channel and we'll be there at 10 a.m on saturday morning for our bit of the big garden bird watching well and we'll be back again on sunday for another one of these and um yeah and uh we are yeah but we're thinking about obviously as we move into spring yeah at the moment look we're in the kitchen yeah it's dark outside there's not much to see so as we move forward and it gets a bit brighter and lighter which we're all very much looking forward to we will be thinking about changing the time of sibc back to the morning yeah but of course we'll keep you posted and that's why it's a great reason to subscribe because then it's easier for us to tell you when we're changing times i want to get out yeah yeah it's been in the kitchen a lot you know if you want to dive into the cupboard and pull out some um you know lentil chips there's a convenience there of course but you know aside from that i should rather be doing it outside i've got to say so we'll hopefully we'll be letting you know about those sort of changes with kate mcquay's ecuadorian camera some action going on there apparently so we hope you enjoy and we will see you for winter watch on tuesday at 8pm see you then bye so so so okay
