[Music] in this episode we'll be playing medieval Dynasty the open world Colony Sims Survival game where instead of looking down on your subjects you will experience the world and its hardships with them now the first question that we always cover in these videos is what stage of development is the game in and in this case medieval Dynasty is currently in full release and available on PC as well link now with that being said what exactly is the game well medieval Dynasty is both a survival game and a colony management game this means you will have to deal with your own needs such as hunger water cleanliness and romance all while trying to deal with the needs of your subjects the game will start out with a pretty straightforward creation process followed by an in-game tutorial that will follow you throughout your time with the game it'll start with simple jobs such as picking up rocks and sticks in order to make yourself a stone ax but will progress into more advanced tasks the idea is that rather than being a straightforward tutorial such as how to open your crafting menu or change tools it's trying to teach you what you should be doing in order to progress further into the game as you start to complete the main tasks you will start to unlock the ability to create a settlement start story quest lines and complete side quests the game's story Quest system is honestly pretty basic it has a series of quests that will essentially ask you to finish a set of tasks for them these tasks are usually pretty simple in nature as they ask you to do things such as say go talk to this man at this location or deliver this many resources to this person there is some actual plot line though so if you are interested in the storyline that will be something available to you it currently is not voice acted though but does have several different quest lines for you to explore some of these are even seasonally based quest lines which means that you will only be able to complete them during their related specific season now there are also side quests but these act more as activities for you to complete rather than actual story lines just like your main story missions these are mostly simplistic tasks but they will respond periodically and reward you with some form of bonus such as money money is extremely important in medieval Dynasty as it's something you need to accomplish many different tasks within the game these include things such as buying equipment buying seeds to plant buying food for Buffs and most importantly paying your taxes taxes are a pretty unique mechanic in medieval Dynasty as it's something that will play a critical role within the game's Colony management system Colony management is something that serves as a sort of ultimate goal within the game the whole game game is even titled medieval Dynasty so as you would suspect your ultimate goal is going to be to create a dynasty of your own and a place for that dynasty to Rule now I feel it's important to point out at this point in time that this isn't going to be anything like Mountain blade Banner Lord where you manage large armies in order to create a ginormous Dynasty but instead will be more focused around you creating a thriving Town within the world you aren't the king here and are instead going to be more along the lines as a sort of Mayor regardless of all of that in order to start your Dynasty you're going to need to have a settlement first and that's done by building your very first structure structures must be built a certain distance from any other pre-existing settlements that are within the game by default you'll be creating all of your standard medieval infrastructure buildings such as houses of varying sizes and qualities different tier production facilities different to your refining facilities storage facilities farms and much more the idea is that if you would expect it to be be found in a small medieval town then you will most likely be able to build it each one of the buildings play a different role within your settlement and will require workers to manage them your workers however will need to be fed given water have a place to sleep provided with firewood for warmth and made Happy through a variety of different means keep in mind that all these buildings will have to be hand constructed by yourself and they can take quite a while to build even if you do have all the resources being produced by Your settlement and all you have to do is build them at best you're looking at making only one to three buildings a day and likely less than that during the beginning stages of the game the more you play medieval Dynasty the bigger your Colony will become and the more things you will unlock through the game's knowledge and talent systems talents are going to be things that affect your character specifically and knowledge is going to be your ability to create new structures with increased capabilities sort of like a research tree Azure Colony starts to grow in power you'll find that you'll have to pay increasingly High higher and higher taxes this is essentially something that you will have to pay to the kingdom that your settlement is currently living within and if you don't well let's just say I don't want to spoil anything for you but it's not going to be good for you or for the people living in Your settlement overall if you take nothing else from the previous information just know that the game focuses not only on personal survival and not only on Colony management but instead focuses on combining the two to make sure that the player has to focus on both of these features throughout their entire time with the game so now let's move into the pros and cons section for the video first up for the pros are the games customization options prior to starting any game of medieval Dynasty or even during the game you can change a ton of the game's settings this can be anything from turning off carry weight which I personally highly recommend to changing the rate at which you gain experience you can even change how fast seasons pass which has major effects on the gameplay next up is the fact that you can actually get married and have a kid while it's not the most crazy mechanic in a game ever it's certainly a welcome one in a game called medieval Dynasty the way this works is that if you were to die in the game and had an heir you would actually take control of the air if they are at least age 18. of course there is always the option to Simply reload an old save file but you will eventually die of old age and this is just a cool feature to have nonetheless and finally for the pros is something that could be considered a pro oricon depending on how you look at it and that is just simply the grindiness of the game you see medieval Dynasty is a very long-term grind style of a game everything will take you forever to do and requires a ton of grinding to accomplish luckily you can customize settings to ease this but as far as the default gameplay goes you should expect to put in tons of time to accomplish sometimes even the smallest tasks this means there's always something to do but the question then becomes is it fun to do and that is something we will have to leave up to you to decide now for the cons and for first up is the fact that the game gets very repetitive very quickly now this isn't necessarily the worst thing in the world as most survival games do have some sort of repetitiveness to it but in this game you're going to quickly find you'll be doing things such as chopping down trees mining rocks or just trying to pick things up off the ground almost non-stop this can become very tedious over time and personally it is not something I enjoyed I do understand that in most survival games you're gonna have to do things like chop trees and mine rocks but when that's 80 of what you're doing it's not always a fun experience to have now my last con for you is just the fact that the combat is absolutely horrible I mean I've seen worse but at the end of the day the combat is basically Point click swing and there's not much else put into it range attacks are pretty much just aim and left click in order to shoot arrows there's not a lot of complexity here and I would love to see some improvements on it but with the game not being focused around combat and the first place I don't know how much more I could really expect so now it's time for the rating for the game and when we rate games we want to get one hour of enjoyment out of every one dollar that the game costs so for this game in particular in medieval Dynasty we would want to get roughly 35 hours of enjoyment out of the 35 cost of the game and after putting several played hours into this game we give it six out of ten potatoes medieval dynasty was a very basic Survival game with somewhat of a Twist built into it the combat definitely left something to be desired and the survival elements were rather basic at the end of the day the game is extremely grindy which may be great for you or extremely boring depending on how you look at it thankfully the air system is going to always give you something to aim towards but at some point the game is going to just start feeling repetitive regardless of all of that it has all the traditional Survival game elements and allows you to have your own colony SIM from a first person perspective which was a unique and fun thing to experience and therefore we feel that medieval Dynasty is probably worth the cost now
