I was so badly fooled by those moves. I really need to rewatch this performance. The first two tricks look really interesting!
Normally I shit on Shin Lim's talk show appearances, but you know, that was pretty good. A lot better than usual (and much much much better than that shitshow on Fallon). There was a clarity and logic to the effect that's been absent from a lot of Shin Lim's recent stuff. I do think the presentation could have been a little better, and a little more clear, but there are great bones here. Some of those moments would hit harder if he set them up a little better, I think. For instance, with the sympathetic card boxes, everyone is looking at the wrong card box (the one on the floor) when the magic happens and if he had a better way of bringing attention back to the card box left on the table before the magic moment, I think this would make that moment much stronger.
Also, I'm not sure about this, but I think the sympathetic card boxes thing might be better left to the very end of the trick. After everything else, he throws the card box, then the other card box flies after it.
Dam...camera angles were a little brutal
I love that he does kinda hard sleights in high pressure situations, that takes balls. Good set!
