- Sherry - And Sherry, where did
you come in from today? - From Detroit, Michigan, a
suburb of Detroit, Livonia. Very nervous. I pretty much had the same type hairstyle since I was probably
in junior high school. Once in a lifetime, would we
fly somewhere for a haircut. So we just said, let's do it. - Tell me how you want to feel, cause I know what I think look good, but I'm afraid you might
be uncomfortable with that. - I don't want the short like that. I'm a little bit overweight, and the high cheekbones are just, I don't think it will look good. - I understand. I'll just be honest with you. - Yes, yes. - You look really pretty right now. You have a beautiful face, a beautiful neck line and pretty hands. And, and then I, I do that and I think you look shorter and fatter. - I do look short and fat. - But you don't want to do this. So I doesn't mean to cut your hair short. It just means that I
want to create something, somehow where we lift everything up. Let's talk color. And tell me just what you were hoping for from the, is the experience or do you. There's some reason you're. - Probably just the experience, and I just feel really old. I want to feel revitalized, I guess. - Okay, yeah, yeah. Alright. Well then let me tell,
let me just be honest and I won't do anything. We'll just trim the end
and leave it blonde. That's perfectly fine with me. Yeah, that's good. So just more depth, some depth in there. - Yep. That's good for me. - And then, once you get over it, let's cut some hair off. Cause it will be better, but I will still just trim
the ends of what we want. - Okay. How much were you
thinking of cutting off? Took me a long time to
get this, this long. - Oh did it? It hadn't been this way for a while. - It has, yes. (laughter) - It has since it took me 20 years, but it's been that way for 40, okay. (laughter) Well truthfully? - Yeah. - The length and the way it's styled pulls
you really, really down. The length feels nice because
you've got a broader shoulder and it makes you feel more dominant and that's physically visual feel. But it isn't, the best. - Okay. - But I'm going to leave it cause I know you're emotional about it. I know your emotional about the hair and about the the weight your at. - Yes But it doesn't, we're 52,
53, well how old are we? - 52 - Yeah. We're in our 50s, right? Sassy, cute, a little
color, makeup, you know? - Right. - That's lift you. This is just gonna make you feel secure, but you know it's not right. - Right. Well, if you would let me get it how I just think, without being so afraid, I know it will look fabulous. I can't fix the other stuff. - Right. That's me. - Yeah, that's most people. - I have to do that. Yes. Consider a thought, that maybe going shorter
and full, would be - I wouldn't mind going shorter and full, but I don't want to go like this. - No, no. I didn't say that. No, no. That would be too butchy. - Yeah, yeah I don't want to be butchy. - No, no. I know, I know. See that's all it is. - Oh my goodness. - Really? It's just a - It's just a glob of hair. - Yeah. Even that's better. - It does look better. - Yeah. It will better. - I love my hair long. I like it longer than shorter,
but sometimes I just feel like it's just the same, the
same old everything, everyday. Hair has been blonde for a very long time. Bright, blonde and long. I had layers, basically a feather since I was 12 years old, so. Shorter than my children is
probably too short for me. Originally, I was either not
going to shorten it at all, or I was going to go as
short as my shoulders, but I just love this. - I love adding a little bronze. So I will do a little bronzer, right at the apple of your cheek. My most favorite part was
after he straightened the hair. - Look, look how pretty you are. And, how, how beautiful your eyes are, and it's going to make
your hairdo look good. - My hair is naturally curly and I really, never really liked it. Christopher tried it both ways. Once he went to the straightener,
my anxiety was gone. And I just, I really,
that was my favorite part was towards the end when I
realized it was going to be so sassy and so much different
than I thought it would be. (jazz music) - [Christopher] Alright,
go out and be seen. - Yes. Thank you very much. Younger, more vibrant, happy. Coming down the stairs I said, I feel really sassy right now. I love it.
