much as a glance. How many of those ambitious cuties come to Nashville from all over the country, hoping to get famous...and how many of them sadly leave with nothing? It took only a couple of hours for Garth,
during their demo recording, to fall for Trisha. Trisha was radically different from most of his girlfriends; simple, open, and aware that a musical career is foremost really hard work. The song that they recorded was a demo for Trisha’s debut CD. Brooks told her that if she got a record deal he would let her open his shows. When Trisha left, a friend of Garth, the songwriter Kent Blazy, asked him: 'What did you think?' Garth replied: 'Well, it's strange, because
I felt that feeling like when you just meet your wife...' Looks like a perfect beginning for a love

stayed just friends and colleagues. Brooks kept the promise he made in that recording studio, and two years later they went on tour together with Trisha as his opening act. Garth realized that he married the wrong woman but felt obligated to his wife, Sandy Mahl, who had supported him throughout the years and always believed in his music career. "So you being married, it's got to be right. This is who you went to college with and you were married in front of God and your family and everything,' Garth said in one interview. The couple had 3 wonderful daughters together. Garth loved them so much that in 2000, when he was at the peak of his career, he retired to spend more time with his them. Though, after a while, Garth and Sandy decided to separate and a year later they filed for divorce. Divorce is always a painful period. Support and friendly consolation, Garth had found in Trisha, who had not long before survived a second divorce from Robert Reynolds. In a very humble way, a romance between the two quietly transformed the longtime friendship into something much deeper. Will you marry me? The whole of America remembers this proposal... When Brooks pointed to the finger, Yearwood was shocked and told him: “You’re not going (to do this) in front of these people?” But he surely did! He got down on one knee, took off his hat
and asked her to marry him. Despite all the years of living together,
she was stunned. Trisha`s friends recall: "Her knees were like Jell-O". They tied the knot later that year at their
Oklahoma home, in a quiet ceremony just for family. Since then, Garth and Trisha`s partnership grew even stronger. They had a successful tour, a great performance at the CMA Awards and the release of a joint album. Brooks said he works to keep Yearwood by his side. "I always introduce her as 'the love of my
life,' and she introduces me as her current
husband. So, I'm just trying to keep the gig," he joked. Now, they are trying to make up for the lost years. They even accompany each other during working visits, just to be together whenever it is possible. As Trisha opened up: "Garth gets up every
morning and makes my coffee. Right now I'm filming my cooking show and I'm getting up at 6 o'clock in the morning, and he doesn't have to get up so early. But he gets up and makes my coffee."
