hello again everybody and welcome back to the channel thank you so much for joining us again today well we have another pistol video for you here today and this is going to be another offering from Shadow systems we've looked at a few other pistols already and had some comments that you know what should be nice if the shadow systems had something that was more along the lines of a Glock 19x well I present to you the shadow systems XR 920. as if everything the 19x should and could be or is it just another really nice Glock clone well we're gonna look over all the features and specifications and we're going to find out in just a minute [Music] all right once again welcome back thanks for being with us today if this is your first time coming to the channel or if you've been watching our videos and haven't had a chance to do so before now and you like our content please consider subscribing you can hit that little subscribe button in the lower hand right hand corner there of your computer screen or you can scroll down below the video if you're on a mobile device and you can hit subscribe that way it is a simple thing that helps that a whole lot and we really appreciate it so the shadow systems xr920 I'm normally sort of you know I gravitate towards smaller guns for carry I review anything of course but I tend to carry smaller items than this but I have to say I was pretty excited to see this one come out because the Glock 19x is one of the fewer larger Pistols that I actually like and I didn't think I was going to when it came out but let's do our little size comparison we always like to start off with this and once again we're direct comparing this to 19x and so let's just grab one so if you look at it it certainly is a pretty good match you've got the of course the smaller slide that you would have on a Glock 19 and you have the larger frame that you would have on the Glock 17. and of course you have the resulting uh capacity that you get out of this larger grip which is the 17 plus one which is really nice I think that you know normally like the Glock 19 is about as large as I will carry you know on what I call just a kind of an average Compact Carry gun the little bit of added grip for both the 19x and of course in this case the xr920 isn't that big of a deal to me and of course one of the big advantages of this platform is holsters so if you're used to curing you know Glock 19 or Glock 17 or anything in that neighborhood that gives you a pretty good idea of what it's going to be like to have this in the holster because it is virtually the exact same size all right we're gonna jump right on the features here but before we do want to take a moment to thank our friends over at Dawn's Weaponry for providing us this beautiful example of the xr920 by Shadow systems for our tabletop review today Don's Weaponry is a huge supporter of firearm safety and education and we can't thank them enough so we're gonna do our usual um look at this thing kind of from a top-down perspective but of course we're going to do a quick safety check remove our magazine here and let you see that we are clear there's nothing in the chamber there is no magazine we are perfectly safe and ready to roll so if you go across the top here a couple things that you'll notice um the slide is a bit unusual you see these uh kind of stepped serrations on top you've got a lot of areas that you can grab to slide whether it is because you're going to rack the slide from the top or from sites there's a lot of different areas that you can use those serrations whether you're pushing from the top or maybe using these to push off on something but there's a lot of aggressive serrations throughout you've got your Optics plate and they have this set up to where it'll accept quite a few different kinds of Red Dot Optics without having to go through a lot of plate changeovers and that kind of thing if you look at the sights now I'm pretty happy about the sights you can see you've got that high visibility ring the green outline with a tritium dot on the front and of course you just have that black serrated sight on the rear I'm okay with this type of sight setup I still wouldn't mind having like at least two white dots on the rear just because I am so trained on having that three dot sight picture but this is okay it's a lot of fun it's really easy to acquire as long as you've got a good high visibility front sight really that's all you absolutely have to have so I think this is a good setup um of course you can see inside the barrel on this particular one you've got the the Bronze finish and this is the titanium carbo nitride and the idea behind that finish it just gives you better hardness than a lot of other Coatings and of course that translates to better wear there are different ways to get this one equipped this one does have the threaded barrel so for those of you who like to take advantage of what that affords you you'll be able to do that with this firearm you do have your accessory rail if you're the type of individual who likes to have a light or laser system on your handgun you'll certainly be able to do this if you look at the frame itself there's a few things I'm going to talk about here you see this patch you've got this grip texturing well you've got it up here on the from the frame too now I'm seeing more and more people that are kind of getting to this using this front patch for their thumb and that's not really I don't do that I've I've played around with that just to see what it's like but I don't use that with my grip I'm just I've been doing the grip that I use I've been doing for so long I couldn't possibly imagine changing but I do see people use that and they seem to like it quite a bit you've got your slide lock and release it is just on the left side there and of course you have your magazine release here which is also on the left hand side there um your trigger let me talk about this trigger for a second much better trigger than your standard Glock and that is one of the big things about the shadow systems is you know you get a nicer Barrel you get you know Cuts in your slide you get aggressive serrations you get good sights you get good texturing and you get improved trigger now they call this a 4.5 to 5 pound trigger when you engage it and you start to pull back there's just a small little window of resistance right there just a little bit of take up and then you'll feel yourself instantly in that little window it's not a complete departure from a Glock trigger but it is a little bit nicer but I do think it has a much better reset so compared to a standard lock trigger to me this has a much better reset and it's a bit smoother the way it breaks and this trigger came in at exactly five pounds they say four and a half to five this one is five on the nose of course you've got the flared Magwell which is supposed to help you with rapid reloads that kind of thing that's not a big deal to me but you know it's it's nice to have and of course like I say you've got your texturing on the sides in the back in the front it's a nice it's a nice little setup it's a good looking version of this handgun as well now of course for disassembly I've probably got dozens of videos out there on Glocks but like any other Glock this is a very simple matter of you you're going to pull back slightly on the slide there you're going to pull those releases down and then you can just push this completely off of the firearm once you've done that of course you can tip out your rod in your spring and that then gives you access to the barrel so you can take those components out and you can clean them or do what's necessary as you can see like any glocking Glock clone it is very simple so that's your basic overview of the features it's a very nice equipped gun you get a lot more features included in the price than you would if you assembled those components separately so we can talk about lots of aspects of the Shadow systems Firearms but the way they shoot is one of the things that really make them so great you know the thing that I like about Shadow system so much is that if you took any standard Glock pistol and you added things like you know a better barrel and a better trigger and things like this customizing the slide well the money you would spend to do that you would be way way over what it costs you to get all of those upgrades out of the box with Shadow systems and it really does make a difference in how they shoot now I've had a chance to be present with a lot of these being shot and I've got to get my hands on several leaves so I'm pretty familiar with the shadow systems complete line I was glad to actually get this one to actually go over with you guys today but from what I've seen so far as far as ammo there's no pickiness at all going on here um I use a lot of SMB and the PMC bronze that's usually available that's pretty good price these are both going to be your 115 grain um Range ammo no problem there I usually try and try a few things as far as defensive ammo um the spear a Gold Dot I like this quite a bit this is your 124 grain critical duty 135 grain and then of course there's two versions of the sigbee crown I tried both the 124 and the 115 on most guns and usually the 115 comes in as the winner this gun shoots so well that the performance between really all three the 115 124 and then the 124 spear we're all about the same you can put a Target up at seven yards and you can very easily start punching one inch holes that a whole lot of work it's a really good gun now of course keep in mind depending on how you equip this gun it's going to change some things of course you've got a threaded barrel so if you shoot it suppressed it's going to be a little bit different situation as far as the balance the Firearms you'll have to get used to that but you know it's a really good shooting gun all of these shadow systems pistols the triggers are just fantastic and one of the things I've noticed that is one of the biggest factors in how smoothly these guns shoot it's not just about the balance of the firearm and the weight distribution but a lot of it has to do with how good that trigger is because if you know where the trigger breaks you know where the trigger resets then those follow-up shots are going to be a lot better and they've done a really really good job of making this gun easy to shoot accurate and reliable so when you talk about carrying the XR 920 as a carry gun once again this is on the higher end as far as size as to what I'll carry um when the when the Glock 19x came out I didn't even look at this gun right away you know I kept it in the safe for a while and when I finally did get it out it ended up being pretty comfortable and of course all of my Glock 19 holsters uh it would just go right into it since of course you know the slide and everything is the same side everything pretty much everything I had would fit it so I thought well I'll do a similar test with the shadow systems here so I got my I've got several of these but I took a cross breed here and this is super tuck now the super tuck has got you know horse hide and then you've got these clips on either side here and a holster like this will manage a firearm like this really really well now I always have like a t-shirt underneath and so where you might be worried about the grip here going against your body um this is not that much sticking out and then it's against my t-shirt so it's no big deal to me that I always have an outer shirt so using a holster like this that can balance the weight properly I think that it feels the same and actually this is actually a couple ounces lighter the the Glock 19x I think comes in like a shade under 25 ounces and this the elite version of this firearm is 22.4 so you know it's not a lot but a couple ounces you know it all adds up when you're carrying a gun with uh you know 17 plus one capacity there's lots of other good options Alien Gear makes some really good holsters um you know Galco Versa carry there's lots of people that have holsters that I like but for the purpose of this test I tried the cross breed and It just fits the body so well just like my other Glocks it was just extremely comfortable so for a firearm that's as large as this is with the right kind of holster it doesn't feel any different to me than any of the regular compact Glocks that I would normally come up with so as a clone I think it's pretty comfortable so overall impressions of the Shadow systems xr920 well if you bought if you bought a Glock any Glock and you decide you want to make some changes in it well the money adds up really fast I don't know if you've ever looked but if you price out a slide if you priced out a custom Barrel especially a threaded barrel if you change to custom sites drop a trigger in it by the time you do all those things you can take a 600 Glock and make it a fifteen hundred dollar gun in a real big hurry now the shadow systems uses the the pmags here for its standard magazines which are nice of course you know a Glock magazine essentially is a Glock magazine so of course if you have your other Glock magazines laying around it's not like you can't just use them too but I think that they do a pretty good job of getting really good components into these guns at a decent price now something like this is around a thousand dollars which you may think a thousand dollars for a 19x clone essentially yeah but think of what it has in it and think of how much more this would cost if you paid for all these things kinds of things separately and plus I think ultimately the the overall design I think's a little bit better and a little bit nicer so if you were upgrading a Glock I don't think it would end up quite as nice as what you get here out of the box anyway um I I like the features like I really like the fact it's got a high visibility front side it seems like a simple thing but it's nice having it out of the box it's a good configuration um you've got aggressive Cuts in the slides it's Optics ready you've got a threaded barrel with that uh super hard titanium carbon nitride finish it's got a great trigger and you know it's got good texturing it feels good it just feels really good in the hand and it shoots really really well and it's not picky with ammo so this isn't going to be a carry gun for everybody because it's a little on the larger side as I said I tend to go with smaller Firearms too but I know people who carry these all the time and I've actually carried this in great comfort because I used to carry a glock 19 almost exclusively and with the exception of a little bit more grip it doesn't feel that much different to me in the holster so if you're the kind of individual that's pretty happy with the overall say feel of a 19 or a 19x and you want to get the extra goodies on it this is a fantastic way to get a very good performing firearm without paying the premium you would to have to convert it and of course worrying about if they do the conversion for you correctly whether you do it yourself or you rely on somebody else this comes out of the box and it's already correct so that's one less thing to worry about so it's a little bit on the higher end for something like this but not that bad if you think about everything you're getting for the money so overall once again Shadow system impresses with a very good firearm all right well that's going to do it for today everybody as always we appreciate you watching we're back very soon with another video for you so until that time everybody please be careful and have a great day thank you
