Seth Andrews at Reason Rally 2016

I was at the very first reason rally four years ago and I took my camera and I documented the day as best I could and then I produce kind of a polished short form chronicle of the day and you can find it easily on YouTube it's called the reason rally a secular celebration for the 2016 reason rally I wanted to again record the day but I didn't want to produce the same thing the same way I wanted to try something different so what you're about to see is more of a raw random collection of reason rally moments and of a man on the street vibe to it just whatever happens next and something unexpected happened as I was shooting video I bumped into so many amazing wonderful thinking atheist viewers and listeners and I was engaging them so much and we were having so many wonderful conversations I didn't spend as much time actually documenting the day as I thought I might so I've asked our listeners to submit some of their own photos and images from the reason rally to help color that day to help tell that story for you so I hope you enjoy my chronicle of the 2016 reason rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC I just happened to see this yeah we've got a van here that says defend the children stop wash D see the cost of Tolerance bathroom bill is that a toilet oh this is all about trends this is a trans thing - mama tits well that'll look great on a business card but I mean we just met taking pictures we've got a Bible believer a Bible creature who has what looks like the ram's horn is he sounding the trumpet is this a is this a call to battle it's not just a book written by men it's a book written by anonymous products have an extremely primitive time and culture okay right you can't give me verification for any one of the authors of any of the books of the Bible beyond quoting the Bible itself you can't even be verification beyond any first century historian not one first century historian verifies anything that you're saying give me one sentence if you're gonna live like I'm a typical guy if you're going to preach the Bible what do you use outside the Bible to verify its authenticity I never did bump into ray comfort perhaps that's another encounter for another day their religious protesters are fun to talk about but the day certainly wasn't defined by the preachers the prophets of doom the cynics and the naysayers the reason rally 2016 was defined by the secular men women and young people who traveled from across the United States and from other countries to be a part of this day there was a connection here a real sense of family and a desire to send a message from the heart of our nation's capital the message that this country doesn't belong to any religion that the church state wall should be built up and reinforced that the attitudes and decisions we foster in the 21st century should not be rooted in often harmful mythology that we are at our best when we're in pursuit of the evidence when we embrace science and reason and when we put aside the pettiness and division so often born of bad ideas some out there will focus only on what the reason rally wasn't this video is just a small snapshot of what it was a day filled with enthusiasm smiles laughter good cheer and goodness no gods required you you
