Sells everything, moves to the Philippines sight unseen. First two months, dating, budget...

hey guys yesterday I interviewed a guy named Brett and uh he's a guy who moved to the Philippines almost two months ago now or maybe just that 2 months and he moved here sight unseen he had never been here before never been to the country sold everything so uh get ready we've got a little bit of an interview coming up with him where he goes into stuff he talks about dating how it's been for him the first couple months some of the challenges that he's had as well as some of the surprising things that he's seen around his budget so stay tuned Brit coming up yes yes what's up brother another day another day you guys remember Brent uh we went on a too trip together recently just hanging out been getting to know uh him how long have you been here now tell me yeah so tell me about yourself how long you've been here where you from I've been here for since January the 5th so right at uh 7 weeks wow uh going on I guess eth week I guess going on now um I am from small town in Georgia called ALB okay cool Liv there for half my life uh born in North Carolina yeah and my last job was in actually in Pensacola Florida all right and uh due to the circumstances a lot of research seeing you on video I ended up here in the Philippines nice so yeah what had you choose the Philippines down yeah what was there actually I didn't choose the the Philippines first wanted to I I started in Central America um reason why I would be closer to home sure 6- hour flight things like that but as I dug and dug through all the you know the YouTube videos and all the research that I did it always came back to English language everywhere everywhere I turned I don't speak Spanish and I don't speak you know Thai I guess it's Thailand right but I started out there and I ended up going to Thailand I ended up looking at Vietnam I ended up looking at Portugal and Spain and France and Italy but it was always a language barrier if you got outside of the touristy areas absolutely absolutely and how's been your experience so far tell me tell me a little bit about what was it like to find housing you bought a scooter and you know Finding goods and yeah tell me a little bit about your experiences so far I was a little overwhelmed when I got off the plane when I first got here the first couple of days uh ended up talking to you a couple times community group right community group the whole group has been really helpful very helpful with everything as far as all the knowledgeable things you learn in the group um finding a condo was actually pretty hard I thought but my dad found a great place that uh owner you know an owner actually owned it and the owner actually met with me and awes fell in love with it and that's after about I saw about five places before I picked the one that I chose yep yeah it is interesting the housing can be a little bit of a challenge but I so there's a couple places and you T you touched on one Facebook Marketplace was big rent pad is big but another just walking up like there's a when I got here I just walked like there's a place right across the street walked into the lobby and said hey do you have any phone numbers of of units that are available and then ultimately you'll get hooked up with a broker which is what you're talking about a little bit but that broker may may only have one or two properties they might not know all the listings that are available it is a little bit of a challenge but I feel so how long did it take you to find your place then like how many days would it did it take you to get connected where you're at took me uh two weeks I really it's a great place brand new facility um I know a couple people are looking over there yeah uh it was never lived in before so there was actually a brand new building and construction is still going on as as we speak uh has a 28th floor uh pull overlooking uh the entire city I'm on the 25th floor so and right above me is on the 26th floor is actually the uh workout facility so they have all the treadmills send me some pictures if you can and I'll put it in the video okay and then what's it do you mind sharing the name of the place that you're at what's it uh it's uh 38 Park Avenue yeah yeah that's cool yeah it's it's right here in IT Park beautiful beautiful area really like it brand new facility I'm actually I'm liking it Park the more and more that I'm in this area I really I think it's a great space for us to be but let's talk about some other experien that you have what about dating so you know a lot of guys come over here they're really just kind of tired of dating in the west and they come over here looking for something different tell me a little bit about that for you like what was your dating experience in the west and how would you compare it to dating here in the Philippines as an older male uh and been been through a you know a 12 or I forgot 14e marriage yeah I hear you brother you get out and you're you're kind of kind of lost because what what you're used to is old school dating right you go out and you meet some friends and your friends introduce you the situation I got into is where my job called me to be somewhere else so I'm actually in a different state different city I don't know anyone so I had to depend on online dating and yeah in the states in the states and after probably 2030 dates where they show up and they look nothing like their pictures or filtered pictures or you know pictures that are 10 years old themselves when they were a lot younger and you show up and all they care about is getting a free meal and you're you're out here saying well we're starting out with a lie I mean you're you're showing up and you look nothing like your pictures and here you're warning a $100 meal from me right and eventually I met a nice a nice lady uh I thought it was going to be a good relationship it last for about a year and a half but the problem I had there on and off because right um it always came down to money right what can you do for me that's not good enough I want I want I want a little bit better uh you know concert venues I want better seating uh hotels I want I want I want a better room sure things of that nature but I mean it I made the best of it but when that ended um I started doing all the research like online and YouTube and saw your videos and saw other people's videos and it started touching base with me that people actually that live here now went through the same circumstances that I went through in the states that's actually not the whole reason that's part of the reason they're actually here yeah yeah and then so how have you found dating here in the Philippines you've been here for a while you've you've I've we've hung out I've known you've had some success in the dating world how would you find that in comparison yeah dating here's a lot better um when I first got here it was extremely good to me I I started online dating like in the States but the online dating here is different um for example in the States you put on an online profile and you'll maybe get you'll swipe 200 times and pick one beautiful woman right and you may get say a 100 beautiful women that you actually say I agree to and want to date and you're swiping 10,000 to get those 200 that's right those 200 to 100 they don't all write you so maybe you may get two three four hits in the states what I found different was here is when I put my profile up I didn't have to write anybody and I had I think 268 likes the very first day complete 180 right complete 180 and so now you're you're searching through these trying to filter out being in a new country country and you're trying to what you find attractive you're trying to find the new attractiv to in this country right and I found myself just you know same thing kind of like in the states swiping a lot left but adapting myself to the new my new role here because things have flipped so amazing on The Dating side on the thing a lot better A different and just the and too you have you have so many options there are really a lot but then even the quality of people that you meet like you pointed to the dating in the west and how it was you know kind of about this meal and that meal and what asset do you have do you have a new car and that and here it's really I mean you could take a girl to jollybee and they just be you know just happy with being with you right they're just excited to be with you and get to hang out have have you have you seen similarly or or kind of what's been your deal there as far as how how the women treat you and and and and their thought about you I have not had a date at joli bees now I've done a McDonald's you had a McDonald on all right actually actually I wouldn't pick that up other dat which I I prefer like I go to the mall there's a great restaurant there um and I noticed even for myself when I go by myself my bill is roughly say 350 peso okay that's by myself right I take a date there yeah it's still under 500 because they're used to eating a lot less and and they're very very picky on what they're getting so it's very inexpensive for dates here so the girl the girl that you took the McDonald's was that a great day did you guys have a good night a good evening had a had a great day so so even though you took her to McDonald's you had this time she was still happy and excited to see her it just oh she was loving that meal she was such a difference right such a difference oh my God back the stast you take somebody out I mean even though online dating you take somebody out you know to dinner but here you know you're getting out the door for $8 to12 for both people and you're dealing with with people who are like you say they're just really into you like they want to be with you it's nothing to do it's not as much to do as the money as it is to is to you the person or the individual and you're you're you're talking about women who are in their 20s their 30s they're just you know beautiful sunny inside and out yes I've noticed here that you know you have you dated a woman in her 50s yet you're like our own age I haven't dated anybody in their 50s most of my dates uh have been you know in the 20s you know in your in your range I've had as high as know I've had uh one over 40 and I had one pushing 40 she was 38 and that is something guys we we we it is an adjustment for us we really kind of have to let go of that age kind of concern that we have you're going to find would you say Brit how many how many of those women how many of those are between the 20 and 30 range that that you met or seemed interested in you would you probably 90% of those women or how many what 95% in that rank the the big biggest dating pool that's there that's interested in us is that 20 to 30 range so you really kind of have to I mean there are older women that available but there's a bulk of that dating range which is something I uh was shocked about you mentioned something before too that was there for you in dating that you hadn't seen so much in the west and that's this whole world of lady boy lady boy tell me a little bit about your experience with that and and what's what's been there I really didn't even know where lady lady boy was right so in the states the only time I've ever seen anything even close to what I see over here is from the movies okay like tootsy and the one with uh uh Mrs dfire M Mrs dfire I did see one FL of the Cuckoo's Nest a long time ago but I've never seen anything like I see here there all right anyways that's great so I get here and I'm it's very you know you have the choice to pick online uh when you're online dating sites do you want to meet a woman do you want to meet a man do you want to meet um an alternative which I guess that'd be this alternative I pick woman right I'm actually seeing guys I mean full full grown on beards chest hair laying on the beach Crouch back making you know making you know sexy looks at right sexy looks to the camera right and then you have the the ones that are simply too beautiful to be true I mean what I mean by that is you go online dating here in all seriousness some of the most beautiful women that you will ever see in this world are are men that are now women they have had complete transformation and now that I understand everything it it actually comes from um Thailand I didn't realize that I guess the reason they don't have so many in the states which I've never seen any before m in person is because in the states like it would probably cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to do that transformation compared to going to Thailand and being a few hundred yeah there is a there is a big lady boy culture here um a trans culture here uh but I've also I've seen a lot in the United States I've actually had you know lots of uh of gay friends or or alternate uh ways there with friends and and I've been around uh drag clubs in Florida um you know I just thought it was interesting and fun to go out and do something different so I've actually seen a little bit of that culture over a lot of my lifetime yeah uh but here it's definitely more there's you have a lot more exposure to it the good thing i' I think with to the whole ladyb the dating um every single one that I've met online has really been open and upfront about it right away they're just like hey just so you know I'm trans or lady boy and so it's like yeah yeah no worries you know it's not what I'm into but hey you know very beautiful and have a good day so I I don't feel like anyone's out to trick us or any of that kind of way too but so let's go how about some other questions like what's been your overall experience do you like it are you considering moving back to the United States and giving dating a try there so yeah tell me what's your old right there is no chance of me going back to the us to live there's no chance for me to get in the dating pool again in the US uh this country has fulfilled every need that I have as far as I'm not talking about just dating I'm talking about in general in life experience um when I moved here my thought process was very high very high standards for the Philippines right and when I moved here it actually was better than what I was thinking and and people will think well it's because of dating it's not really because of dating it's the other things I did not realize were going to happen um having a condo on the 25th floor overlooking the city beautiful being a quarter of a Ian a quarter block not a quarter mile a quarter block from the mall where I have access to every store everything I could possibly need right and the biggest um thing that I did not count on those friendships and know meeting guys here from from the group right going on rides together U going to eat together going to restaurants going out and have having a drink at night certainly you're not drinking but you'll drink your mango shake and I have my beer that's right but uh that's probably been the probably be the very biggest thing to me as far as the differences between what I thought it was going to be like and making it 10 times better than I thought because of those two aspects that's right I look at the same thing it's really just the simple easy life that that is here for us and and the friendships you know just a relaxed way I just I'm I love it too even after brother even after a year and a month I'm still such a big fan of the Philippines now I've had some hiccups in the dating world that honestly really scared the crap out of me but you know even with that experience I'm just I really do love overall how things are and just the easy way of living here I'm just a big fan what have been for you what have been what have been some of the challenges how do you like the food have you had you know really any issues or surprises what about that kind of stuff it was something I thought I would have to look at and it's very strange my my family they tried everything they could to get me to stay in the states right they they they T tried to talk me out of it they were telling me Oh yeah when you get there your first two weeks while you're going to be in the bed the entire time because you're going to have upset stomach from the food and the water you're drinking right I was very surprised that's another thing I was surprised about in the states I did have a uh a problematic stomach right so uh yeah so medical issues things have going well no really surprises food's going well yeah anything else anything else you want to let the guys know about uh about being here living here and your your first month in the Philippines and how that's been uh end up getting a motorbike uh watching all the videos I mean I could have got a car but I end up going motorbike because it's faster more convenient if it rains uh I'm not a big supporter of rain ring on a bike but it happens here uh for the most part I think I've only had I've been here for seven 7 to 8 weeks and I think I've only remembered only having maybe maybe six or seven days of rain out of the entire time I've been here the weather's been kind of interesting to me as well how how the a nonf factor of the weather has been in my time here and some of it could just be the seu region honestly you know that's true um surprises things that that I think that the viewers would want to see that are important to me and things that I follow um budget what is a proper budget for seu City uh surprise very big surprise very big surprise like how though which way I had a pretty nice budget set for myself um from what I was thinking I went all the way from a monthly budget okay and I don't mind sharing with the group I started out at $3,000 per month right I could never reach that amount and how what I mean by that is is I actually took my my budget and I started making a daily budget and on my daily budget I'd find myself you know being around 4,000 peso per day I put that in my wallet every day but at the end of the day I'm still sitting there with 2,800 2200 1,800 PES at the end of the day so I never reached that so it's cheaper than what you thought lot cheaper rent that's that's the biggest thing to me if I were look back to the States and I had exactly what I have here right I am paying $450 per month for a studio apartment overlooking the city I'm overlooking the ocean as well I can see the water in my in my view right and on top of that being on the 25th floor and having an infinity pool on the 28th floor and having all the you know the um accommodations it gives right and you compare that what that would be in the states I paid $530 out the door for everything electric internet everything out the door water a lot cheaper and then if I look at the states my same condo over in the states say for example in Florida and you know like Ro than Pensacola it would be $25 $2,800 per month easy for that same studio so it's it's a big difference there cost of living is nothing compared to what we're used to well guys we're going to wrap it up here really appreciate appreciate you uh taking the time to sit and chat I really don't do a lot of interviews but um just yeah just wanted to kind of really get your first take take on the first month here and how things have been and we've been hanging out a lot and uh he's just a real character so I'm really uh happy that you took the time to hang out and uh we'll see you guys on the next video appreciate it brother we'll see you
