oh hey well I guess it's time to get up and get going with another day of self-isolation in a van there's my hairy mess all right had to go park somewhere for the day are those you who do a lot of urban camping or vandal and whatever will be familiar with his drill he parks along for the night in the morning you gotta go park somewhere else for the day and then park somewhere else you had to get in for the night I just spent last night in the parking lot nothing too exciting and you'll find something out day down [Music] the city park up here I hang out frequently when I need you a fighter park of the day when all of your whelming I'm juicing number of Park City this is the biggest one a lot of the ones here you might call pocket parks or neighborhood parks they don't actually have like off street parking or anything so you know they're places people bring the kids we have like parking us free outside of oh yeah it's not a great place to hang out for the day we have a County Park not too far feet were still a few miles up out of town a nice thing like this one is right here in town there's not far from where my kids live that are here is not far places to park for the night or for other services especially when services are open a lot of color great outdoors so this is a convenient spot in the Sun we've got a nice little lake and a walking trail and is even an RV tub free RV tub if you know an RV in the area and each into that oh yeah no we can start today guys this park does feature a walking trail it's like a 1.1 mile loop around this lake over here this still frozen over because it's still March in Wyoming's Oh whatever I spend the day here I always make a point of doing at least one walk around the lake ideally two or three or four I got three in yesterday which was good and I think to the day before it was kind of cold so beautiful morning it's a little bit breezy I'm gonna head out do a walk around and you've probably seen footage or photos from here before if you've been following this channel for any length of time but I'll bring around seems anything to enjoy it is this off the waterfall here a lot of blackbirds in the cattails and the wetlands so that's nice so it's pretty popular in the summertime especially though the people out with canoes and kayaks or whatnot but mostly it's not too busy this morning it's a little bit breezy a little bit cool little bit breezy but the sunshine and that's nice so I'm going to go do a loop and probably do another one this afternoon but I'll bring you all along with me and I always see some of what it looks like here hopefully there's not a problem with wind I didn't want to bring along the big microphone today because I just didn't feel like it so all right let's go see what we can find here [Music] [Music] okay so almost back to the pan I've got my one-point one-mile walk in probably do another one later now it's time to get some another cup of coffee and hunker down get some work done and I'll probably go for another walk later on but you know I hope you enjoyed that little tour around and see why I enjoy walking around this particular Lake when I'm in this area alright so I'm back in the van now I get asked periodically to do some day-in-the-life videos which is sort of you know kind of vlog style videos on what my day to day looks like I'm always a little reluctant to do those I guess because I don't think my day-to-day thing is for two exciting certainly maybe not video worthy at least you know and I guess my point is there there are times when I'm traveling or when I'm doing some great adventures those are really interesting and there are moments of different days that are really exciting you know you step us out of the fantasy a hawk fly over in a smaller bird you know come after it or you step out of the van and the evening to watch the spectacular sunset or you step out to wash lunch dishes and and there's wild horses just across a wash so there's some really amazing moments that happen when you're a nomad and very specifically for me of boondocking know my dad is not spending as much time as possible out in nature trying to have as low of an impact as possible I don't run gas generators I'm gonna run outside lights I don't run any that stuff I want you know be able to interact as closely as possible with nature with wildlife to see at night sky which you can't do if you have lights on so you know I keep it pretty simple and minimal and and as a result that I get to have these moments but as far as day to day it's kind of you know can be a pretty dull I guess I worked for home from home for years off and on before I was a nomad so for me it's very much the same I get up in the morning and I come in the city at the reposition which you know wouldn't normally do it on boondocking so I get up in the morning make coffee you know they trying to get to get to work you know and and work for the day I try and get in one or two or three walks during the day depending at different times depending on the weather and where I'm at you know make a meal or two in there somewhere and you know if I'm how many would a good view of the western sky especially in a place is a good sunsets I trying to shut down by evening so I can watch the sunset and then you know after that you know evening I may do some more work or not depending on how much brainpower I got left for the day today I thought what the heck why not do one of these day in the life videos I mean it's strange times were living in many of us are dealing with self isolation if not shelter in place or quarantine orders so you know people have more time to watch videos and and my works a little slow right now I know I'm never bored I always nothing to do but I could just if I spend a little more time making a video like this today so I want the heck why not go ahead and do this and kind of share what my day looks like that's today's big project working on meanderings magazine the next issue with that that's due out in April which is only about a week away so and this is actually ends up being about a week-long project typically to get the entire magazine ready to go each quarter and that's I got a layout to get the photos already and then a text I want to go with them right anything's to go with it and then I have way out the print magazine and the desktop PDF and tableau sized PDF and the mobile sized PDF and the I get a kindle version ready so they'll takes quite a bit of time and if that's just to get it the layout on my end and then of course side to wait for the printer to Santa proofed copies and an actual print copies afterwards I can distribute so the fair bit of work involved now but that's my work for it's kind of a big project for the week really but definitely my main focus today is going to be on meanderings magazine all right so wrapping up the day I've done all day aside from a couple of walks working on a computer got all the photos edited for the next issue of Mary's magazine kind of the layout started and so you know we continued that on tomorrow it's after dark now it's getting late so I need to go find a place to park for the night and find another parking lot probably I think for this evening or it is another maybe a place on a side street I used sometimes here too so go find a place to park anyways and it kind of wraps up yeah a pretty typical day in the life for me self isolating here and a van while I'm in town it's a little bit different when I'm out boondocking but not a lot of places I can go up here in Northeast Wyoming this time of year there's a fair bit of BLM around but a lot of doesn't have road access if it does this is snow or mud anything up in the mountains is out of the question because but it's really really cold on top of that it's under snow and it will be for a couple months still and when the snow does melt off it's usually June when that melts off and that it's mud so we got about a three month season up here we get up in the mountains that's pretty much mid summer into early fall I'm still kicking around at different ideas for what I may be able to do for travel without going too terribly far and still be able to you know self isolate so until I figure that out I'll be hanging around here in town for a little bit meanwhile that's kind of a day in the life self isolating in the fam hope you enjoyed this little review of a day in the life and check out these Canada geese I saw today [Music]
