[Music] before I start anything here this is a PC mod for Mortal Kombat 11 it is the only way this character is selectable and is purely offline with no impact to online play in any capacity it's no mystery that Sektor is my favorite character in mortal kombat right it's been that way for as long as I can remember and it won't be changing anytime soon I was over the moon to see Sektor appear in Mortal Kombat eleven story mode especially with just how much screen time the character had I will admit I didn't care too much for the strawberries and cream visuals his chronic aversion sported but that aside it's actually my favorite visuals the character has ever had he has so much airtime in the story and looks like such a boss in so many moments truly this is my favorite appearance visually even if his storyline wasn't my favorite all that still belongs to Armageddon and the two kunnen come on the guy has his own warship in that game how can you top that now as is the way with modern NRS games sometimes characters that are important to the story appear with new visuals and voices but they're not actually playable although you can go against them in the story itself they are by all accounts NPCs and in MK 11 sector and Cyrax are two of those examples I know that people likely expected me to bring out the pitchforks at launch and were actually surprised to hear that I didn't really mind it I mean don't get me wrong I'd love sector in every game especially with the insane visuals that he has here but hear me out right I've never really explained why before on top of the fact that I like tons of characters and can always find other options to enjoy hence sorcerer quan and MK X since I was a kid growing up with Mortal Kombat sektor wasn't actually often playable at all in most of the games I played look at the timeline pre MK 9 I played sektor in snez MK 3 and trilogy I didn't own a dreamcast so I skipped MK gold and sect or wasn't playable at all until Armageddon way way later I've gone through tons of Mortal Kombat games without him and I'm used to it for lack of a better term I like seeing the character in Easter eggs or law or sometimes appearing in stage backgrounds or whatever my point is I'd always love to play the character but I'm totally okay with him skipping titles because that's just what I'm used to there are other characters I can play instead that are still pretty neat and some of my favorites now that's out of the way thanks to the world of PC modding I was able to play as sektor in offline mode to finally see what this character is all about this video goes over those moves and finally puts this interesting character under the microscope remember I have to stress this character is NPC pretty much everything he has comes from MKX tribe org and he was never meant to be played by a human so as expected and similar to the other NPC characters in NRS games he is not what you would consider finished he has no fatal blow no fatalities or crushing blows but here is MK 11 sector in all of his funky glory note that for extra detail the frame data counter does actually work so we can see what his frame data looks like too let's start with his movement it's basically beta movement before everybody got sped up on launch so he has dashes but they're very stubby he certainly won't be zipping around the screen like other characters button wise he is essentially a bunch of try Borg moves specifically given to him Cyrax and Sektor basically share the split move step try Borg with a couple of exceptions additionally there are three special moves each with the amplify acting as new moves in some cases here are the specials listed the first thing to note is that the upwards missile is not present straight mesial back forward one fires a simple straight missile like we all remember and it even still knocks down amplify this to turn it into the smart missile honestly a really nice touch because sektor feel is very strange without the homing rocket teleport is down back for and it launches for a full combo meter lessly amplify this for the extra hit but in this game it doesn't result in the separate juggle from regular combos like it does in MK X it just kind of continues the gravity of whatever combo you're doing so converting off it is tricky and basically impossible after a combo with loads of hits it doesn't result in that much extra damage either so it's mostly for show finally this move can still be done airborne and it even keeps the instant air properties where it starts up faster in the air as well mad really the air teleport lets you get damaging air to heirs for some swaggy combos flame burner down forward three has no amplify but it's fast and does great damage it's basically your best combo ender because it adds the damage and it is easy to combo into its minus four on blocks so totally safe making it a safe option for other situations that you'd otherwise over commit to but and wise here is the lowdown if you've played MKX tribe org you will definitely recognize them forward three still acts as a low slide but in this game you can special cancel it it actually becomes a cute little combo ender for launchers that hit faraway back one is the fast overhead that in this game only sector gets access to it can be special cancelled but it has an ender in back one too that simply takes sectaurs old back to from MKX and it adds it to the string as a second hit back three is your traditional low starter and can once again the special canceled the vein bar overhead and low into teleport is that the old MKX mind game of meter burning it on block into air - to be safe doesn't exist because air - doesn't exist so this by all accounts is an unsafe mix up to go for back three four becomes the launching low string that we all remember all try board variations having however it is all sect all gets off the back three the back three down for string goes to Cyrax a story for another time back three four in this game can be special canceled into grounded specials though which opens up for some very cool combos in the corner thanks to smart missile the only string you get from 1 1 is 1 1 4 but it leads to easy combos and does great damage standing 1 recovers mad fast so even with your terrible movement - into standing 1 can be a combo extender standing for is great for combos and it keeps its funky juggle properties in the corner sectaurs old forward - 1 - back - in MKX is simply just 2 1 2 in this game and it combos the same way the only thing you can't do is our East and with it in this game so it's best used to start combos on the ground and the two one is great for linking them because you move forward believe it or not he actually has a short hop attack and both are wake up up 3 which has just taken from the air charge and an up - which is one of the final hits from the old back 3 string both throws are the same the regular throw from Mortal Kombat X blow pokes are very hit and miss a fast down one but a majorly negative on block down three and down four down three and down four are both unsafe on block which is another knock-on effect for us not normally being able to use NPC characters right this kind of funky frame data is to be expected here what we're left with is a similar experience to the MKX sect or tribe org variation but missing some key components that made him play the exact same way we don't have the air dash for safety of teleport nor things like havoc missiles which would usually be a safer option on block instead we have to go to flame burner because it's only -4 but less rewarding on hit damage wise than teleport would be but even having an unseeable overhead low mixup is something that feels mad powerful remember that's not a common mixup in this game the biggest thing that I miss personally is knock down pressure smart missile doesn't really work that way and our movement is so terrible in the first place that making getting in afterwards not very effective losing the up missiles leaves us with a projectile heavy hit-and-run style character that would likely be projectile heavy at first and on block looking to either do teleport on hit into knockdown or unblock staying safe with flame burner finally on the subject of frame data sector has some very strange plus frames I'd like to say again this kind of weird data is common in NPCs but check this out standing 4 + 1 1 4 are both really plus 1 1 4 is plus 14 and even if you flawless block the gap which yeah you can flawless block the gap the string remains plus enough that you can jail a to 1 afterwards making 1 1 4 into 2 1 flame burner a true block string flame burner is plus 48 on hit it's basically as long as you're in the animation you're stuck in place combine this with the fact that flame burner is only minus 4 unblocked and we have an unseeable overhead and low mix we're totally safe on block and on hit we get a guaranteed mix up that is pretty sweet taking a little bit of MKX with us into MK 11 it seems NPCs and NRS games almost always contain the moveset of their previous version it's happened with siddell Baraka reign and it makes sense that it's continued in Mortal Kombat 11 of course I always wish for sexual to return in MK games and I would much rather him be fully playable in MK 11 but just out of curiosity alone it's been really fun learning this unusual and definitely unfinished version of my favourite character I will keep everything crossed for the Borg's to return to MK 11 via DLC in the
