Segway S-Pod Chair - First Ride Review

can't believe they let me ride this thing I forgot push this button no I would not do that little background a couple years ago I joined nine BOTS innovation team work with you Ben I knew that there are some projects in the works and I didn't really expect it to turn out like this to keep me out of the secrets now what's your title oh you're in charge of the innovation department right yes you want to go check out the best fun yeah let's go physical I didn't know it was self balancing [Music] [Applause] [Music] this is a thought oh she breaks thinkers Oh horn and this is these headlights with mode three is powerful oh okay fine so be careful okay I'll be careful yes it's cars t so they come okay cool oh that's far as a ride nice you know when this is gonna come out the monkeys and the way 150 kilos what are the rear wheels for and there's a charger port basically three kilowatt hours inside here which is pretty damn large the thing is capable of going 40 kilometers an hour but they're going to limit 12 kilometers an hour for me you should not try a fast here not asked yeah I mean sure not how fast come on Stan yours and this race use pencil we don't take it outside [Music] but to get off pushes button but I'm gonna stay in turn back on yeah go this is one of the few prototypes that they have so I'm not allowed to destroy it this thing also has a horn so if people are my way I can honk at them but it's not working right now it has this big beefy 18 by 4 inch tire this is the same motor they have in the z10 which is an electric unicycle they released a couple years ago it's quite smooth oh look at this guy this is the future guys the way it controls the center of gravity is not by balance of view there's a sliding rail that slides the entire chair forward which gives it a forward or backward center of gravity allowing you to accelerate or decelerate they shouldn't allow it to go 40 kilometers an hour if you keep on saying that that that's aa speed but no one in the right mind would want to go 40 kilometers an hour in this thing I feel like this is definitely better than a wheelchair 360 in place pretty intuitive way of riding around a little cold though why I think the controls still need to be refined they're not like super responsive but sit you hear here again what are you doing yo you're part of the videos did no oh again this is just a prototype they haven't refined all that stuff out felt's in the airport and i wanted to go from security to the gate and i was feeling really lazy this would be a really nice way of doing that a few months ago I tested out the Chi 60 which was the first self-driving scooter if you want to check out the video I'll leave that link up there if you guys want to stay tuned all the latest electric vehicles that are coming out I know a couple electric unicycles that are unannounced I'll be making videos so if you want to see tuned on that front hit that subscribe button down below and stay tuned oh yeah nope I'm good

That's so cool and at the same time so lame somehow. If Segways had the notion of being douchebagger-y, then this would make the local rich guy the king-of-douchebags I guess.

I don't see the appeal of this thing, it just doesn't seem practical...

for a start it is huge, getting in and out of your house would be a pain, and what do you do when you go into a store (ok the likes of Walmart is fine, but what about small stores... just leave this massive thing outside?)

I don't really get what this has over a normal mobility scooter, if its going to be this huge whats the benefit of it being self balancing with 2 wheels instead of 4?
