[Music] hi I'm Cindy Cloward with Riley plate designs and we're still having virtual cult market and this time we have Lori Holt we're in your studio looking at your new fabric collection so everybody I've never seen your studio it's fantastic thank you I'm glad to be in here I know space and it's really fun beautiful and when we're done talking about fabric and you're gonna give me a little tour okay okay okay let's talk about your next fabric collection that's coming out in July probably right so prim is coming out in about four weeks and we have the so along in August and I'm working on the quilt right now so I have a few of the blocks right here q desert okay flag darling I haven't done the applique yet they're just basted and ready to go and I have some of the border blocks finished so I just thought I would pin them up there so and I noticed you sure you're using your savvy for the grass this is the new lot a shabby that's the background and I really wanted to do that because you know after all the collections called prim so I wanted to give it a little bit of a primitive feel in the background sort of like it's you know a little bit older and aged so I love it so here is the storyboard do you want to look at that yeah so we've worked a long time on this storyboard heaven we that's right so on the cover we always have the sew along quilt and then we've got the prints do you want to hold that end open so there's all the fabric collection and you have 40 skews 38 42 so what are the skews is this great print yeah this is what it looks like we'll open that up in a minute and show you so do you want to turn the page yes and then here are the white backs there's three of those so here's my sample yardage of those great comes in three colors big plaids that's gonna be fun for a lot of you know for the back of a lot of different quills but you don't only have to use it for white back I use it for borders and finding very good I just use it for fabric it's great quality so here's the quilt here's all of the supplies that go in the quilt the so simple shape we have the so simple shapes and and then we have a couple of other projects that were ins into other projects and notions you want to show those now sure and then we'll show the quilts after so okay all right so we've got what do we have here that we can show let's show the tins I have those let's fold this up so here's a new set of tins right here and it comes in three sizes with different designs from the twill on the lids and they do stack inside of each other too so you can put them away but this is gonna be really fun to use a my sewing room em you know for notions and just for fun things so that is coming from prim but let's show ya let's show these little kids so here's the little box that uses five inch squares and some yardage and I usually have one with every collection of fabric and this is the table runner this is the prim table runner it's really fun and you'll need to add your buttons yeah this is the be cute lace and then the cute little buttons and all different colors I love the colors I love how it that stuff it's are adorable I can't wait to get this on my table I'm very cute so that's what comes in this box is the kit so here is prim village and this uses ten inch squares and then other fabrics as well from prim to finish it off for the sashing and things like that and a half but they're so popular right now and look at those so cute so let's show the let's fold it and show the bottom part the bottom part so I do have a cross stitch that matches this as well called prim village darling hey bats it's really fun so here's I'm gonna open this up so you can see the I don't know why we call it cheater cloth but I don't know my grandma used to call it cheater cloth this is cheating is cheating because but anyway so about fantastic back in the day we used to tie quilts all the time this would be a perfect time I'm gonna do one and I'm gonna use my chunky thread to tell you the quilt and so I just think it'd be really cute to do it right here in all of the cornerstones perfect so Darlene so that's one of the prints in there a lot of em artists and these are all these are all prim prints right here these are one yard bundles yeah you can just see the color palette all throughout that I really like the brown that you brought in this time I do too it's kind of a it's really a neutral it's kind of a grounded grey is more kind of a different shades of Gray's more I would call it than brown so that's what the whole quilt look like for the sew along and that starts August 24th and I'll be feeling more about that but I also have a book coming out that I'm using prim with and it's called prim and proper just keep all your prim fabric in stock because that's where there's a lot of projects that's right so it's so Emma publishes my books and so I'll be having a book in October is our plan and so here's here's a mock-up of the cover there's the cover quilt and you're seeing it for the first time here because this is hot off the press that's right that's right and this is going to be a table runner Oh cute that's in the book give us a little harvest fill a little bit with it and here's another tale reminisce these are all different sized table runners this is going to be a pillow and then these are going to be three different sizes of pillows and then another table runner so it's gonna be really fun to play with play with that when all of Prim gets here in four weeks I've been having a good time playing with the pretty our tidge so do you wanna see the next story boards yeah let's talk about it all okay so this one I think I have them stacked in order this one comes out in September and this is my B basics and B backgrounds and I have so it's kind of a refresh what we're keeping in stock and then we've added some yes like I have kept half of them ivory colored some of them and then I put new ones in as well so so let's take a look and we've made it easy for you to see what's new because it's in red so the red ones are new and then if it's just in the black its it is existing so this is you'll recognize these prints I use my basics for literally everything so I'm excited to get more of them and speaking of using everything my backgrounds I can't live without those so I'm really excited to get more of those great little new colors of favorites yeah and things like that and then we have my sugar stars quilt featured and that we can use in those talk about that oh yeah we've got we've got this bias tape with crochet edge coming out so I'm really excited about that and my 10 inch crazy paper has been out for a while but now we have new 5 inch that should be coming any day now actually and look how cute you can make pillows with that little 5 inch it's a little smaller and you've got a new color in this seem so easy guy I do we're gonna show how that works on your machine later okay but let me just tell what that what the change is that we've done in this normally it comes with the little square they're a little rectangle that you put in there and then you cut it out but we've just decided you don't even really need that you just need to line the center line up so we've taken this out and it's not even going to be it's already cut out for you so all you have to do is tape it onto your machine you can use stick it's or washi tape er no just temporary so whatever you want to use that for new and improved so here is shabby so I have several new colors in shabby and shabby you can see it this isn't it's an excellent blender you need to have it in your stress it is really popular yes use it for so many different styles of quilting so yeah it can trend modern but it also look very that's relative very traditional so I have new ones coming out in October and again the red marked colors are what's new and then on the back we have so that's right over there okay so yeh we get to talk about my next collection that I've been designing that you have not seen yet and it comes out in December and it's called flea market uh-huh and that is you so long quilt flea market flowers and look at these these are bright and bold flowers and just a rainbow of Laurie Hill colors it's all vintage vintage vintage and talk about this print talk about that two prints that's like a what I'm calling like a conversation print and this is the background that we're using for the quilt right here like Cindy so you can see and it's you know Ledger's and receipts and things like that it's called the bookkeeping print something you might need when you're going to flea markets that's right and this conversation print down here is is perfect it kind of looks like kitchen wallpaper or curtains or something you know from Grandma's house and so I'm gonna be doing a lot of fun things with that these prints right here we'll be using four for the sole along and then I also do have a cheater print with that too of hexyz and stars this is the actual scale but this is kind of overall and then my white backs of that are roses right here are these big large roses so I'm super excited another thing I'm really excited about having with this collection is I'm doing two panels they're the same panel but in two different colorways and these are pre-printed appliques so the whole panel and you haven't really done this no I haven't so this is really cheater cheater so I'm excited about it because these are just pillows you can just put put a pillow form you know inside of them or you can add fabric around them you can use these for to put in a quilt I also along the bottom here did smaller blocks that are different than these so that you could use these to make a smaller quilt pin cushions whatever whatever you can think of apron borders you know curtain borders and then I had a little bit of space left over so I put on I took out some of these applications that were on here and just put on there and they're already pre-printed with fabric so I can't wait to see what you can do with these I know I can't either I can't wait to get it so I can just start doing so there's so much of the flea market this is a time that we have not done so simple shapes but we still have tools that you need to get and these time this time you need to get the seed rulers and the pie ruler this we have used the pie ruler before and the circle and the circle yes horrible circles for my circle ruler or for the Centers of the flowers and then we're using my pie ruler for all of the Dresden flowers and then I have a new seed ruler that's coming out that's just that we're using for the leaf shapes and it's in two sizes they fit really nicely with damage and five inch squares and so those are the three things that we'll be using to make this no so simple shapes for this quilt will have so simple shapes for next quilt so we are circling around again so you need these we've previously used so long using these and then now we have the the leaf print so and you got new boards always new design boards yes I need to show the pen design boards okay yes I do but before you do but look at look at the quilt box kits you know we're known for our really creative quilt boxes and these are just gorgeous collector boxes and look at the fun quilt this is a pieced quilt this is a piece table runner this will you use the seed rulers for boho they do okay so you piece underneath here so this is a take on attic windows okay I called it flea market windows so you just piece the squares together and then use the seed ruler with some of my background fabric and put on there and then in the intersections here are yo-yos so we'll be like there's something new yeah we'll be using the yo-yo maker by clover so very cute so that's comes in that uses ten inch squares in the bigger box and this is the smaller box for the table runner and this is called the flea market table runner and we've kind of kind of designed this opposite meaning you piece with the prints here and then put background on top this one you're going to do the opposite you're just going to cut the background and put the prints and using the small seed ruler on here and then there's just little buttons in the intersection very cute coming out in December but so along is January yes well I'll show all the design boards at the em let's talk about January this is another little collection that's coming out that I'm really excited about this is my B cross stitch and as a basic and a rainbow colors plus you've got low volumes yes so I'm just there just switched opposite so they're the color with the cross stitch on it and then they're the background with the color cross stitch and those low volume that's gonna be really fun super cute and so here's a few notions that we have coming up yes and I'm gonna graph or you don't there's no yeah I want to hold that up so if couple samples this one we've been working on this for a long time yes and I'm so excited so what this is this is the beekeeper binder it's just a regular binder but it's printed with my fabric and then inside we have pockets little zip pockets and you can keep yourself simple shapes in there yay-yay a place to organize everything so you can put your you can put your so long guide in here anything fits in here it's just a regular size binder so that you can use any of those fun you know lined paper whatever you want to put in here it's all gonna fit so there's the first one it's big so that you can fit a lot of things in there and great tear sign to help coordinate okay here's the prim yes design board so here's the two small ones those are the ten inch and I'm so glad we're bringing out this new size I think this isn't XS is the medium it works really well and then of course we always have the large then we always need to use so I'm excited about those great colors no my using my wine alright let's just finish talking about some of the notions that are coming out of course you've got these flea market little charms and you're excited about these yes my planner Birds you know they think I have that all have this tumbler here but I have this mug right here see that mug that's on there very cute oh it'll be coming out I don't know what does that say Cindy it says October this is October new storyboards are November I mean these new design boards then you also have this oh this is the needle keeper and a daisy that's a winder needle minder yes it's a little bit larger so it will fit on the with a strong Mac down on the back so you can put it on your design boards and put the needle behind us or your scissors will go on to that so you ever miss stir that has a cute vintage design I've got a red and white one coming out so I'm excited about that but your playing cards are so charming because they have sewing related things yeah I'm excited about those too because I wear a card playing family I grew up playing cards and we still play cards and so that's something that I I really like to do so it's been fun to be able to design some so let's talk about these mugs for a minute this was my first mug that I did these are 10 and this is with farm for farm girl vintage mm-hmm this one just hit the warehouse now this is how they come they come in a box so this is health this one this is the vintage happy to tin mug something racist bleep rocks to help sell them in your shop but I like that they're all this you know I get them the same size so that they all match so they become you know collectible as we go along so there's those and we only make so many so if you see it you want it get it because when they're out they're out and I'm excited about this I'm really excited about this so this is the my insulated tumbler being my bonnet and it just matches my happy place fabric it's got the quilt blocks around it and classic style really fun very cute I think we've kind of oh no but I have one more thing I said and this is brand new that's just at the warehouse now available now yeah so if you remember my tags that I have had out for a while these are gift bags that can go along with that so you want to hold that one up here's a medium one Oh cute for all your quilt see friends Oh Laurie made a cute quilty gift bag this is how big the large one opens up to so and they all come with a little tag that's different from the tags in the package and beautiful ribbons these are well made very nice or grosgrain yeah strong ribbons so there are those okay did we run out of things to show I think we talked about everything I will talk about your chunky thread but I don't know if you want to talk about your chunky thread well first do and I can talk I'm gonna bring these two items that you have in two just kind of we we still have colors you warehouse and this shows all the colors working together these are the first colors before I added more so these aren't all of the colors yet but I've got other projects coming with all of the colors this is just simply a granny square pillow that I did and this is a take on the granny square kind of it's just a great big granny square show that oh my goodness so cute is that and it feels so nice the other percent cotton is 100% cotton that washes up really nice I love my chunky thread the reason when I did yarn that I wanted to do a hundred percent cotton is because I wanted to be able to use it in the kitchen and to have it wash up nice for decor and I just I love the feel of it very cute okay I think we've shown you everything that is on the market or coming on the market let's take a tour of your sewing room take us to your sewing space all right I have several feather weights but I call this one miss Doris okay after Doris Day okay I have a red one that's Miss Lucy and I have um some Instagram friends who helped me name my machine so this is what I have set up now I saw most of my things on my featherweights I always take feather weights when I'm you know going on retreat and stuff talk about your seems so easy guys okay so this is this is what it looks like on your machine so I just have it taped down here with washi tape and see how is it go use your washi tape so this center line is just lined up with my needle and then the reason I put grids on here so that you can use your own machine because every machine has lines on it mm-hmm so that you can tell if it's going straight or not before you tape it down because you want this line to be coming out straight but that's very cute and tell how you made this big design wall okay so we went to Home Depot and bought that great big giant foam core board that it comes in four by eight sheets and this is two of the sheets and then we just duct taped it together and then I covered it with batting so you can just buy a big roll about package or batting or something and we just covered it and taped it with duct tape it's been a while since we did it but I think yeah we just taped it with duct tape on the other end so it's just like a great big design board like we make you know my design boards but of course we don't put the border on it and mr. honey just screwed it to the wall so he can take it down if we need to but I don't know why wouldn't need to because I you know I need a big design wall where I can put my blocks out and above it I have a curtain rod that has the rings and clips so I can actually hang a quilt over this so sorry so yeah so I love this wall we just put wood old wood strips on the wall just nail those to the wall that we got from Home Depot as well we go to Home Depot a lot because it's just down the road and you can't see it but on the floor we can see up if you want how here is her ironing board wasn't this great one of them it's it's a half of this counter so I can iron I know you always need a lot of space for when you're pressing your blocks I'm gonna make me one of those very good okay so we're coming around she has a wall for her chunky thread so look at all the beautiful colors and these cute little pin cushions yeah my granny square fan cushions and then we're gonna turn around and we're gonna look at this area right behind here and see all your knickknacks look at these look at this oops I'm gonna drop something look at this little pig with a crown like Laurie the pig has a crown it's a vintage crown I needed a place to put it and where yeah where dialect oh these no just over the years you know summer might for my grandma a few were for my mom yeah but I just you know I'm a thrifter and a garage sailor and all that stuff so at a pink Tonka they made a pink Tonka camper I said you look at this is this a stove it is you know I love miniature I'm tired out too and okay you know I do too yeah I just could either late and I change it periodically I haven't really changed this one much lately because I've been spending my time doing things in the rest of the studio this I just moved up from you know downstairs thank you for doing this virtual quote market and thank you everybody thanks for supporting my designs I really really appreciate it yeah I'm inspired I really am I'm inspired so thanks for following along [Music]
