See inside the Marie Curie Hospice, West Midlands

[Music] good morning and welcome to Mary Curie hospice west midlands my name is helen Bowen and I'm one of the staff nurses here during this experience I'll be taking you on a 360 tour at the hospice if you look down you'll see a map below you and that little red dot you come on let's take a look we are now here in our main reception at the hospice here is one of our receptionist volunteers Linda hello Linda how are you today oh I'm very well thank you if you or a family member in the local area are living with an illness we are here to help you will find many different people here in reception from patients friends relatives doctors and nurses to local schoolchildren who come here to learn and meet patients this is our day service area this is where patients and their family members come for day hospice treatments and therapy sessions we also hold arts and crafts cookery and gardening just to name a few that you can do here as activities to socialize with others we are now in one of our day service clinic rooms where doctors and nurses hold day clinics for a number of different reasons and for a number of different conditions patients come here for treatments including blood transfusion and symptom control conditions that we see in here include cancer motor neurone disease and liver disease just to name a few our Bistro offers hot and cold food as well as homemade desserts and snacks any dietary requirements we've got you covered in The Bistro you'll find patients relatives as well as doctors and nurses our Bistro is also open to members of the public we are having one of our patient rooms all our patient rooms are just like this one ensuite with a garden view our patients come here for symptom control and specialist nursing care with the aim of getting them back home and getting them back to doing what they want to do families and visitors are welcome at all times in the hospice to enjoy special time with their family and sit in the patient room together we are now in one of our many gardens that surround the hospice our gardens are maintained entirely by a team of volunteers these are here for the patient's family and visitors to all sit back relax and enjoy special time with their family we are now in our fairy garden this garden is used by our children's bereavement counselor to help with therapy sessions children can leave messages to their loved ones in our fairy post box no matter what time of the year this garden can be very pretty and very enchanting this is one of the many breakout areas that we have here at the hospice where patients family and friends can come make themselves a cup of tea or coffee and sit down and chat without the hustle and bustle of reception we are now in our quiet room a place for reflection no matter what your religious beliefs are this is a place for everybody we are now back where we started I hope you enjoyed watching this video and taken at all around our hospice please feel free to watch this video again if you have any questions please visit our website at Marie Curie or UK thank you [Music]
