going to go do something they say can't be done well actually can't be done but yeah we're we're going to go look at a truck I know I know I don't need another truck but a customer of mine told me about it and may have offered it to me so yeah I'm taking Dad along or dad taking me along and we're going to go look at a 1976 Peterbuilt I don't think it's a 359 cuz I think it's got a fiberglass Hood so I don't know what that would be well I think in that era you could have either aluminum hood or a fiberglass but I think I'm not 100% sure but yeah I know it's got round lights it doesn't have a Corvette Dash but uh yeah we're going to go take a look oh yeah we're in one of those places where you know there's gems hiding everywhere I was chatting with a guy on Instagram this morning he shared some trucks that he found in someone's backyard in California and we were talking about oh look nail dad taught me this whenever you're walking in a yard look at the ground if you see a nail or welding rod pick it up but um the gems that are hidden that uh you don't know about and and this is how you find trucks like it's not you don't just find them looking at Kajiji I mean you can find them looking at Kajiji or Facebook Marketplace but um yeah check this out there it is there it is right in the back I got to make a decision well I don't have to make a decision on it well I guess I kind of do I have to talk to my customer about it but he said uh he told me to come look at it and uh so we're looking at it so I'm told it's a 1976 Peterbilt I think it's a 359 and Dad well I don't see I don't know if a 359 could come cuz it's a fiberglass Hood it's got a kenor topin on it which is probably because the Pete ones weren't as durable well it should say on the sticker what it is yeah right it's got Dayton it's got the outside oil bath filter oh dear needs an interior it's a little it's got an outside battery box it's got a double frame it's a 359s ooh a 359s so it is a 359 9 see oh sugar oh we almost went down guys but I didn't because it's got a good flat crossmember that's grippy cuz it's covered in Moss but this is the problem here is the roof is oh it just needs a new roof just needs a new roof you know actually is that fiberglass no it's Steel mark from twinsticks put a fiberglass roof on his so yeah so it needs a new roof it's got corrosion see this is a problem with sliding back windows you get water down there and then that's rust coming through in the other side and it's also swelled down there but if you get it for the right price see there's a a slider or the gosh I could to use that for Duke but that that's not how do you that's like a foot slider I don't think I've ever seen a slider that short but uh this truck was a logger don't fall in your head Mike I kind of went well it's got a a blowed up diff so but yeah I guess axles would be handy oh it's missing well there's your problem there's no uh there's nothing in there but I wonder oh no it's uh I think it's um I think it's a rock well you know the rust jacking doesn't it doesn't even look as bad as uh it doesn't even look as bad as a rush jaing on Smokey you know that to where a guy could probably power wash that well I don't know I definitely well I mean depends on what you're going to do with it so I think at the end of the day rather than trying cuz I think it's a Rockwell four 463 probably yeah 46 4 63 is it got a 13 or 15 I don't know if it's a if it's a 13 it'll be 463 and if it's a 15 it would be 529 I believe or maybe the other way around uh it's a 15 it's a 15 yeah so maybe it was a 15 that had the 4 63s I wonder well there'd be no build sheet on it but see it's it's well it's rough it needs an interior it's got carpet though wonder if that's Factory carpet kind of looks like it probably look at that tank I haven't seen a tank like I don't think I've ever steel tank is that fuel oh my gosh there's fuel in there not very much but the O-rings gone it's kind of well I don't know I don't think that's a pee tank is it well it might be an older see it's only got one air T too yeah there's no grab handle here oh it looks like it used to have a stack here yeah it did oh I I like it I know you guys are shocked I think a guy'd have to pull the cab Corner panels off it's got carpet on the firewall I think the Springs are gone need a hand yeah here let me it's a three probably a 360 yeah 3 360 or 380 or something well either one but 77 I think they were I don't know okay I don't know and it's it's an a model cat and the way you can tell is by the long shank mhm the B model also has a a pointed cap on the front oh I think it' be a challenge or it'd be a fun challenge to get it running um I mean I'm just looking at it's got a broken Hood support okay so there's I notied it's got a broken front spring right there those are a oh it's broken there too those are those Springs seem so wussy like you take it for granted as to how heavy the trucks are today oh yeah they're a lot heavier like we used to break Springs all the time too so I'm just looks like the Bumper's been reinforced probably for good reason if it's hauling logs so just looking at this right there that's not Factory it's not Factory well it might have been well I guess E I don't know Bumper Mount go take a look at the o yeah well here's the yeah that's why it's a little tough to pull it's not broken but it's not there either yeah see there's a spring fiberglass Hood I wonder if this is an aftermarket hood cuz that says wh head truck fronts manufactured by white Hood truck fronts interesting it's high possible there Center I think it's cracked over there hard to say but you know it'd be cool with this I was thinking I was thinking about it is if well I don't know maybe I'm crazy I was going to say if you took and get it running and driving and kind of leave the cab patina patina yeah okay cuz the problem is if you rip the cab apart right away it's going to be well it's going to be in in pieces for a while but the problem is I mean the the roof is rotted out back is rotted out um I don't think that well yeah it is bad I'm just looking at the bottom rail there it's uh you know probably the thing to do would be either to to pull the insert out well that's a big job or we just cut the frame and put a rear clip on it cut the frame put a rear clip on it pull whatever insert look at the size of that frame I know it looks like it's it's 11 in or 12 in frame double yeah nice thing is the exhaust brackets there you just need the Y oh yeah just need a few things so yeah I don't know it's h it's going to have to be it's going to have to be a good deal question is what's it worth do we need another Pro you know I should correct myself you never need another project but but being that I'm a Pete salesman in a Peterbilt world and I love my Peterbilts but look at look at the painted fenders like such a it's so cool back in the day when you actually painted designs on trucks but um yeah being that I'm a peak guy I really want a 359 and this one it needs a lot of work but if you we can get the engine running you know interior daycab company I just called the daycab company they've already built 359 Interiors um air breather the cap is Rusted I was going to say if this is I I kind of like the idea of if a person did it leaving the painted one on but uh yeah steel just wondering if if it's doesn't look rotted out it's got the Canadian intake Canadian a CU you know I'm Canadian but look at those spring packs like wow yeah she's a fixer upper but the thing is you know I'm not saying we'd start on it right away but you don't just get 359s anywhere they're get getting harder and harder and harder to get now I don't know what do you think guys leave a message in the comments should we save this truck um it obviously needs well needs a step fixed steel fuel tanks that's the least problem just that step just means to be bent back yeah taking off and straightened still got mud in the hood it's oh yeah there we go well it's got oil it's over full which does it smell like fuel no unless it's just because it's been well unless there's water in the base oh yeah cuz it would push it up wouldn't it and there's something coming out of there that's the water pump oh dear um should have brought a rag wonder if there's water in there I I maybe I can climb up on the other side and and see vintage look at that even the fiber last one has the loops in it oh that's for the signal light I wonder yeah cuz the signal lights aren't on the fenders but there's a little round hole they were there yeah is there uh what's it look like on the inside doesn't look like H it seems to me or is it an aftermarket hood son of a gun the wires in the hood for this well this side yeah with the signal light be on this fo well there signal lights on the mirrors oh okay and this is cracked there wiring is so simple simple yet my Peterbilt my 77 had a steel Hood and the or not a steel Hood aluminum Hood yeah and it had a trap door for checking the water and trp door door for checking the oil well there's no water in it so it's probably not a good sign I'm almost wondering if if this hood is trying to decide if that's cracked or if it's a mold lines we over in the foot passenger side yeah it don't really well I think it's a mold line cuz you look at the one goes up yeah one goes across one goes up was is it same on this side no this side doesn't have anything it's smoother excuse me but looking at that hood the tag on it white Hood truck fronts makes me think that the Hood's been the Hood's been changed it's highly possible I didn't think cuz this looks like fiberglass but I didn't think they did that but I like that visor oh it's kind of squashed down though see the tabs there is that a fiberglass cap on the roof or a steel one I think it's steel air horn missing oh there we go 3406 cat yeah a says 400 horsepower oh at least the valve cover oh there's a oh that sticker's gone too unless well unless they took the valve cover off a a b model I don't think they made a 400 in an name model there's another sticker here that says two oh it can't really doesn't really say anything month 7 8 unless this thing has been rebuilt into something else 1983 date of manufacturer 1983 8th month on the other valve cover so they've either changed the valve covers or it's a different engine than it came with yeah I would almost go with that there's a serial number for the cat Tri turbocharger I don't know 1500 bucks yeah I'm thinking that's it I wonder why it's got some weird manifold thing on the it's a um air remover oh from the water Peter had them but they Circle the the water spins in the circle and it takes the air out of your radiator oh now I know I'll uh film a different direction see in this truck I think they changed a bunch of the airlines to to plastic you know th this truck would be you'd have to got it still it's it's uh oh boy she's a look at that blue there's your air air dog and I don't know what that one is maybe for the fifth wheel RT RTO 12515 and this the hood hood how does this is this bolted or is this a hinge I don't know ah oh she's skinny in here here here's the wigwag lower where's the there's the visor now that's old school that's cool audio box okay so we got what's this heater oh gosh it's oh that's the heater controls there oh dear still moves fan maybe that's the the heater medium low on off Peter belt Motors alternator water pump Hood handle oh yeah look at that the Pete logo it's a little rusty heater's a little rusty so wonder is that a brake saver yep oh so it's got a brake saver look at that that's an OG knob that's cool little shorty stick oh there's the visor okay well that's good at least it's there little worse for wear but it's there the seats are here so you could you know the seats don't doesn't look that moldy steering wheel is but that's a big wheel my gosh it's not it's not quite like an extended cab I'm just going to say RPM amps water temperature Fel fuel pressure me me Clutch through the floor engine start heat oh so you push it in to engine start yeah push it didn't hold it one way is your um glow plugs I didn't realize they'd have glow plugs on these suckers it might not but like that's what those switches are for like with the cats and all that those switches you turn it one way hold push it in and turn it one way and then the GL plugs are on yeah and then you turn it the other way to start yeah see the dashes a little WD40 loosen that up probably or a lot of WD40 of course there's pardon me there's stuff bolted to the bottom of it so can you even get the cap for this cab oh yeah there's there's an outfit down in in the states that sells everything 359 so but what I wonder I wonder if I can get the serial number off that I wonder if the hood hasn't been changed from an aluminum hood or can you put an aluminum hood on or well it's probably or is it the shorthood version well so how do you know it was a new Yark New Jersey truck says on the registration oh on the plate on the plate yeah right up under the Des oh okay I didn't I didn't think they made trucks in New Jersey yep well there you go now you know but look at this Hood so oh you know what a the 350 9s is probably short Hood yeah but this Hood the cat T that would have been a cat tag but yeah I like I like that uh that paint now I'm going to have to check did they ever make 359 short hoods that didn't have the light on the fender you can see there's a spot but there's no light what do you think guys should I save it it should we take it should we take it home and put it in the lineup I think we should not going to lie I I kind of it's a lot of work might be too much work but oh yeah that's just that topin is just in the bumper oh let's see what we can see under here oh man this thing's low that's cool oh yeah there's the this Al Tey little teeny kingpins compared to what we have now I want to see the retarder oh you should when you had the H up oh unless you climb in there okay oh yeah there's big oil lines so that's it there see it doesn't have a jake just a retarder just a retarder it's kind of cool that it only look at that so that's your lubri Lu lub refiner well it's either lubri or power steering reservoir it's a pretty big power steering reservoir yeah and the cap has gone but the Chrome is still fair fair was back in the day when they made stuff to last even these emblems are actually in pretty good shape and the doors aren't broken either if you don't like where the mirrors are yeah the roof is a common 359 thing um actually the skin the skin around here isn't bad cuz it's not bulged it's only bulged there what if we look oh gosh you can't even hardly see under there can't hardly see a thing see you probably take and pull this back skin off the cab and just redo it yeah if you can get the skin just a matter of reskinning it I wonder if he's got a sleeper that I could have with it too an old Pete sleeper I don't know where is it it's over on the hill actually we should go look at what's over there too and no not the caterpillar although that's pretty cool that's a it's an oldie that is an oldie that's what they built the Alaska Highway with it's probably where it came from could have been could you imagine being out thereus 30 building the Alaska Highway well what you do like with this you take and you put a tarp up yeah and then you have the fan sucking cuz the fs I I think they were res reversible camera phone light is on oh then wrap yourself in the uh in the tarp so you stay nice and cozy yeah Andrea is on to me she knows where I'm at I think it has a reversible fan and what you do in the summertime you turn the fan so it blows forward in the winter time you have it so it sucks back and then you tarp it all in you have a big tarp on it you stay toasty and warm actually yeah her out of here cuz there's stuff in the way there's an old pickup there's an old actually that's kind of a cool Ford pickup she's a little she's a little rough though she's a little rough it's a lot rough I think well this is a trailer so it might get to be pulled out of the way and the motor home would have to go I don't know stay tuned I want to go see what's over there now
