okay hi everybody and welcome back into my kitchen today I'm gonna show you how to make homemade sawmill gravy with sausage and my special treat they can edit to it I have prior to you guys joining me I've browned up five strips of bacon and sliced him up then brown them up in the pan and I left about a tablespoon of the bacon grease in my skillet and added one pound of hot sausage broken it up using the back of a wooden spoon so we've got our sausage nice and brown here I'm not gonna drain any of the grease off but I am gonna add a tablespoon of butter real butter not margarine to the pan I don't stir that in as it melts right now my heat set it about medium so we're gonna melt that butter in the pan and then City in about a quarter of a cup of all-purpose flour and we're gonna stir them in and let the sausage absorb that the flour and then you can kind of eye and see how much liquid you still have in the pan and then we're gonna add just a little bit more flour I'd say maybe a tablespoon or I'll stir that up so that we're cooking the flour you don't want to taste flour this was one of the specialties that Mike Mandy's made back when I was a kid and my mama taught me how to make my daddy makes it they all make it in the family and it's just a favorite for breakfast it's wonderful over fried pork chops so now that that flours cooked in for a few minutes we're going to add two cups of milk and we're gonna stir it in and I'm gonna bring my heat back up to about medium-high yeah and we're gonna overflow the pan until you're in my kitchen because I'm making a mess already so what we're going to do is bring this back up to a bowl and as it comes up to a bowl it's gonna begin to thicken I'm gonna season with just a little bit of salt probably about 1/4 teaspoon maybe a little more and of course you gotta have lots of black pepper now you can season to taste then we're gonna stir as you can tell the gravy starting to thicken up and I always keep the milk candy so that I can add just a little bit more as it goes so I get it just to the right consistency out right so I'm gonna turn the heat off I'm gonna remove my skillet from the heat I'm gonna take the bacon that I fried up earlier and just stop right down into that sausage gravy this just gives it a lexer little zing and it's a part that my husband really likes so you got your gravy all served up and this is the consistency you're looking for you don't want it too thick just right and then we're gonna serve it up sometimes I could use two hands in the kitchen I do believe that we're gonna pour this gravy right up you know out there and there you go yeah fresh sausage gravy with bacon make yourself up a pan of biscuits and you've got a meal thanks for watching
