how's it going guys says this morning here it's a saturday morning sure what the date is but uh i haven't been keeping much track of that lately but this morning it's pretty pretty cold and uh scraped around the feed bunk now it's time to mix up feed i gotta start the gale skid loader up here warm it up you may notice a 2290 sitting here in the shed with the hood popped up and i had to get a new radiator for that it didn't come yet so got the 2294 on the metro down the two tractors right now the 870 here and the 2294 so uh yeah let's get this uh skid loader firing up here probably a little on the cold side so dad got some rye out of the silo and uh gotta get the skid loader here and i'll grab a bale of uh wrapped hay and i'll put in the mixer so this is our third string tractor for the mixer 2294. so we usually have a case 2090 on here but it blew up and got water in the uh oil and uh it's a way getting fixed should be back soon hopefully and the 2290 had to get a new radiator for that thing so we got that 2294 on this you guys seen it in a couple of my videos it's red it's got front wheel assist here about 150 horse that handles the mixer pretty well we need to get a load of old wrapped hay and take up to the heifers so dad's going to he unhooked the tractor off the mixer and hooking up to the bail wagon i'm gonna get the skid loader here put the forks on it and uh gotta go out and get a load of hay brought that load of hay up here where i feed the heifers and unload that load load of hay so this hay here is uh alfalfa stuff that we brought up and uh it's not i wouldn't say it's very good quality but they seem to like it has a good bit of protein to it we won't want to feed that to the dairy cows because what for shape the haze and down there so down there at the dry cow pym i put a bale of dry hay in we want to feed them dry hay because with the protein and that hay there it's wet and uh we might get fat off of it and we don't want them fat and may have trouble uh having a calf or anything like that so we just give them dry hay and corn silage is their diet so i went and loaded up a little uh wrapped hay to bring in here for the cows as soon as dad gets in here with it uh gotta unload it the dad dumped some hydrated lime in the bucket of the skid loader here and i'm gonna take it over here where the sawdust goes down in mix it all together push it down in the barn and i'm gonna go grab a mask because this stuff here is pretty dusty and uh it's not very good to get that kind of so got all the free stalls bedding now normally uh we do put hydrated lime in sometimes but normally we'd fill the spreader up get through hit all the stalls i have to lower these doors right here and uh but we did it this way here it seemed to be a little easier and uh maybe all the stalls didn't have as much lime in this we'd like but uh see here on the boom there's some lime mixed in with the salt dust and hopefully that's what the all the freestalls are like because having that hydrated lime in there it uh helps keep the the stalls dry and the cows clean and can prevent mass titus so so so we let the cows outside it's actually before lunch right now usually whenever we bed up the freestalls it's in the afternoon well this afternoon it's supposed to snow into tonight and stuff we didn't want the cows outside getting wet because it's good weather for them they get sick if they would get wet so i'm just gonna let them back inside right now we don't need to swing any gates or nothing because it's not time to milk yet so it's uh later this afternoon now i brought the uh i had the skid loader over here i left it over here whenever we were mixing up feed this afternoon so every saturday i like to get through and i cut the bag off here and uh usually this top part have to cut it off before the uh end of the week but i like to cut the the bottom off here too and put it in the dumpster that way whenever uh comes time to clean this area up the fill bags again you don't have to worry about the plastic so i can see here the plastic it's uh it's hooked back in here behind that so i'm just going to cut this around it and what happens is you come in here and uh spin up on the plastic because silage here is really packed bagger packs it pretty tight in this bag and uh it's good to keep the oxygen out but it's kind of hard to dig it out with the bucket so just gonna have to get through cut the plastic off and put it in the bucket and put in dumpster the plastic cleaned up here got on the bucket and uh got this all cleaned up both skid loaders here they need grease i like to grease them about every week sometimes they don't get greased every other week whenever i don't have time and i don't think i i don't think i did grease this skid loader here this one here hasn't been greased for a while either but uh yeah it's just like to keep after that kind of stuff and makes your equipment last a little longer so we were having trouble with this new home skid letter starting and i think it's it needs the battery terminals cleaned up on it so see the side panels missing here side panel goes in behind the boom right here and uh keeps the engine clean so it's laying over here in the shop i raise the booms up and lock them out and put the side panel so so got the side panel back on now it will keep anything out of the engine time to feed calves and something i need to do i haven't done for about a week is take my calf for a walk so i'm gonna go grab the holder and take him for a short walk here and then i'll have to go feed calves so it's good to start walking them when they're calves like that because once they get older and they know how to walk and that kind of stuff and it's a lot easier to show them whenever they're older so i'd like to start walking them early buddy you wanna go for a walk huh good for a walk yeah you do okay um got these calves here eating they all drink out of the rack and the first two over here you guys see me giving them uh given them bottles before and uh we're gonna put them on the bucket tonight because they're old enough and we want to start giving them a little bit more milk so i gotta give them so the cavs they get the two quart bottles twice a day with the exception of this guy he gets a three quart bottle twice a day we leave we're gonna leave him on the bottle a little longer make sure he does good before we put them on the bucket and that's why we're giving them more milk these calves once they get to that age we'll put them on the bucket instead instead of giving them three quart bottles see this cap here tore her coat off sometimes they uh do that um so that's gonna be it for this video i hope you guys enjoyed remember to hit that like and subscribe button i'd appreciate it i try to get out the most uh most interesting videos but don't always work and uh this time of year it's just normal chores and that kind of stuff so got to get this corn planter ready put some road cleaners on it need to service some skid loaders and tractors and that kind of stuff so uh yeah hopefully that's a little more interesting than just normal chores so remember to like and subscribe us to this video and uh yeah we'll see you later
