[Music] hey everyone welcome back to my channel so today I'm gonna be talking all about Santorini Greece this video is specifically about eeeh so I'm creating another video that covers more about the island in itself but this video is specifically for yes I visited last September and I wanted to tell you all about my trip and any questions and are looking up because I know when I was planning my trip I had literally tons of questions and there wasn't a video out there that kind of answered that in one place so that is my goal today so if you are interested on where to stay what to do and like what to expect when you were visiting Santorini keep on watching first things first how to get to Santorini so Santorini is located on the southern part of the island right next to Crete and there are two main ways you can get to Santorini you can either fly or take a ferry if you are coming directly from Athens which is what I did Santorini was my first stop on my Greek island hopping trip so I actually flew from Athens to Santorini and the flight was about 45 minutes and I did book it kind of in advance so I think the plane ticket was only 120 obviously I had to pay extra because I of course carried a 50-pound bag that is always extra on these flights if you are coming from another island I think a ferry might be a little bit easier because you don't have to go to the airport so early you don't have to worry about bag fees and all that so taking ferries within the Greek islands as easier but if you are coming directly from Athens I think it's so much easier to just fly so when you land in Santorini either by plane or ferry you're gonna have to find some other kind of transportation to get to your accommodation and after a long travel day I know myself well enough that I just wanted that to be already pre booked so I booked a car and it was 35 dollars from the airport to my hotel India and the price for 35 was for two people it was just so worth it so if you are coming from the ferry or the air the airport definitely prearranged a car service if I can find the whatsapp to the company that I use i will leave it down in the description box because they were awesome and on time awesome super friendly I get into where to say I kind of want to break down what Santorini is like on a map so Sanchez actually was made out of a volcano eruption so it has this like semicircle shape and a map iya looks kind of confusing but in reality he is made up of like one main road and off of that main road there's like multiple side roads that weirdly connect together all on a cliff the layout of yeah is basically cliffside buildings on top of each other and on the Google Maps they don't show every single road so your hotel might not even be on a road [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] yeah it's also like pedestrians only you can park outside of iya and then walk in but there is no cars allowed in the center of the town that's always something to consider if you take a car service to your hotel you're gonna have to walk with your luggage or your hotel probably has Porter's that can carry your bags through your room soyeah is famous for this Caldera view every photo that you see of Santorini it's most likely yeah the views there are absolutely stunning so where to stay in iya is super important because it kind of dictates like your whole experience so if you've been on Instagram you've probably seen these epic cave hotels with super cool pools and all of that with the most amazing view all of these hotels are going to be located on the caldera side of Santorini and these hotels are in the luxury price range I would say if you go during low suzhen you can get a pretty good deal but during high season they're gonna be $300 and up a night and if you are looking for a amazing cave hotel to stay in I would highly recommend checking out do Kanodia that is where I stayed and it literally was amazing so do cardia is a boutique style hotel that has nine different kinds of suites are all different layouts designs some have interior pools some have exterior pools and it's located on the caldera side of Santorini and every single room has an epic view of the cliff honestly for one night it's totally worth it and this suite that I stayed in was called the zero suite and it had a large large private balcony where they also serve you breakfast in the morning and you can also opt in to have dinner there which was nice like I mean you have this amazing view why not take it take it all in with a beautiful breakfast and dinner moment and the inside was a king bed with this beautiful shower and I must say the coolest part and the most memorable part of this hotel was the private interior pool that had views of the caldera right from the inside of the it was just so wild probably the coolest hotel rooms I've ever stated and even just for one night it's so worth it definitely a highlight of my experience in Santorini getting around yeah so the only way you can get around iya is by walking it's a pedestrian only town so it's really fun - honestly walk around and kind of explore what the different alleyways are if you only want to see eeeh I don't think it's worth it for you to rent a car and literally it's not that big you can kind of walk it within one day so if you are doing just a day trip from the cruise you can totally see pretty much everything in one day the best time to visit yeah I would definitely say is between May or September I actually went in September and the weather number one was perfect it was so hot enough where you could lay out in the Sun and catch a tan another great month would be May but if you can only visit in summer June July August just prepare to pay a little bit more for your accommodation flights everything and expect it to be a little bit more crowded oh wait Santorini is very very crowd everyday about 10,000 tourists from around cruise ships some day tours are coming onto the island and most likely they are coming - yeah which is the most popular area in Santorini which is why I valued so much my private balcony the crowds start coming in around 8:30 9 a.m. when the first cruise ship docks is busy until the cruise ship leaves which is about I don't even know maybe like 7 p.m. it kind of starts emptying out personally this was my least favorite thing about eeeh just the crowds it didn't feel authentic ok what to do in Santorini besides like walking around the streets I wanted to explore and take photos and finally beautiful ankles to photograph obviously you have to watch the sunset santorini sunset is probably Santorini's most famous thing there's a couple places that you could watch the sunset one of them is called iya castle another epic way you can watch the sunset is doing a catamaran tour I personally didn't do it but it was something that I wish I would have done because the views from the water must have been amazing and there are so many tours that you can go with I can leave some link honestly my favorite thing was walking around and exploring like the hidden alleyways that's how I love to take in new places just walking around by foot seeing what's new I think it's also great to just relax sometimes I don't want to do a lot so yeah it's perfect for just relaxing and because I was staying in such an amazing suite I definitely just laid out my balcony and took in the Sun where to eat in Santorini so the food in Santorini is gonna be a little bit pricier than your other Greek islands obviously it's probably the most famous town in all of Greece so just be prepared to pay a little bit extra one of the extreme example but our two coffees and it came out to be 11 euro which I thought was literally insane for two black coffees at least they had Wi-Fi and the view is amazing but just to give you an example of how much things are gonna be costing in yeah just think about my two coffees for 11 euro there are other places that you can be that aren't like ridiculously expensive one of them was Pizza euros it was like a really cute place for euros fries and it was honestly like the cheapest place like eight yeah I think the euros were like six euros we need five euros so a good deal and I liked having lunch there my next recommendation the restaurants was called Pelecanos and I went there twice it's a rooftop restaurant there is an amazing view if you want to sit on the view side you have to make a reservation otherwise walkins you kind of sit in the back with no view so I did make a reservation but I was seated immediately the service was amazing love the service there our waitress was just so so kind and the food was amazing and I think the wine was also like pretty cheap I think it was like a four euro a glass so overall it wasn't too expensive and I really enjoyed eating there so I went there twice what to pack for Santorini I brought lots of sundresses that I could wear in the day and going out to dinner long flowy white and blue but I always recommend bringing a comfortable pair of espadrilles and I've mentioned these in high positano video and a year and a half later these are still working for me these are the vez cada espadrilles they're probably really really dirty right now but they only are like a three-inch like height and they're so comfortable they're amazing I think they're about $80 and don't forget sunscreen because I know when you buy it there it's a bit more pricey than what you would pay in the US so always bring sunscreen and don't forget your converters uses the typical your European outlet converter for us Americans and if you are a cat person like me you will love eeeh because there are cats literally everywhere there was even one cat that came by our hotel literally every night and I named her pumpkin because she was so cute and she was just interrupts basically everything but I love cats so I had to like you know be a cat mom for a while but that is pretty much it if you have any other questions about yeah or visiting iya let me know in the comments below I'm more than happy to answer any of your questions and I have more great videos coming out so stay tuned to my channel if you would love to see those hit the subscribe button and don't forget to like this video I will see you in the next one
