SALTY & SWEET: Tasting some of the BEST SNACKS from SWEDEN

[Music] [Laughter] hey hey welcome back to salty and sweet yes welcome back today we're going to the land of sweden thanks to my friend jacob over at the very good who manages a bunch of artists songwriters and producers and he sent us over this amazing assortment of snacks it looks like we've got a lot of sweets good for me i guess good for me too i think there's a good amount of salties in here too yeah yeah actually before we get started if you haven't subscribed yet please do it'll definitely help us out let's dig in we are kicking this off with cacs with kekkshula so yeah i think this is a pretty popular chocolate bar this was marketed as an after school snack and for athletes but i'm not sure if it's going to have any kind of like athlete protein cactus i feel like it's going to be like the passexaman which was for basketball it's like a timeout and they marketed it for basketball i don't know oh boy wafer snacks i actually do really like that we got a chocolate wafer in almost every country that we taste i'm pretty good oh that's pretty good they're great if you want a giant kitkat that's flat cacs go cats i like how big it is it's hilarious i would say this is dangerous yeah i think this is dangerous too i keep eating this this is great you want to go to movies whenever you can go to movies get a cax ask your local swedish friend for some cucks or just email jacob we're gonna dive into some banana skids banana skits um it has some really great artwork i think these are from the 80s and it definitely looks like that is where it originated i hope it doesn't taste like it's from the 80s any banana flavor i'm just not a fan of so i'll try this out i might not like it so it says that it's banana and toffee flavor to water you got to be careful eating this because if you have loose teeth it'll definitely come right off i feel like this is what kids lose teeth on i once lost my tooth in a rolo almost like a back molar and i bled everywhere that's good to know banana is actually really good yeah the flavor is really good like they did a really good job and it tastes like banana and it's got tang it's really chewy i think our friend ryan would like these a lot because he loves salt water taffy and bananas he kind of looks like a tall banana anyway so he is what he eats [Laughter] we'll probably post a picture of them somewhere here but yeah i'm still going to give these a delicious shame smash it looks like chocolate covered bugles and we've covered this a few times in our show already i think the last one we had was fudge yeah fudge bugles it was white white chocolate but the thing is this apparently has salt salt and sprout so i don't know what sprout is but it sounds freaking tasty so i can't wait to put some sprout in my mouth i feel like so far we've learned that they have good quality chocolate coming out of sweden's i feel like these are going to be really good just depends on if the bugle quality is the same that's true i mean immediately comes out yeah um the chocolate is really good they're really light these are so good it tastes like chocolate covered popcorn in a way and i think it's really delicious maybe dangerous i think i'm gonna go with dangerous i think these are really really good we're gonna try out algrin's bilar i this is i think it translates to cars and they're from 1953 so this is definitely like an old school candy and i read that they wanted to imitate the american marshmallow and make it into cars and they wanted it to be bigger but they kept being small and they just went with it i'm getting one of each color in case they have different flavors there's three colors there's white pink and green it's like a mint green they're really cute they're super cute they're chewy they're not they're not really like a marshmallow they're not like a marshmallow yeah that i like it's not like i've ever eaten it but you know like packing foam it tastes like i'm eating packing foam but it's delicious packing foam yeah they're like they're foam but they're kind of chewy this is really tasty the flavoring is kind of like a um neca wafer it's like space candy if i was an astronaut this is like something i'd probably eat because i feel like astronauts would eat this because it's so light and airy and compact i would say this is delicious i love the texture and i think they're super cute but the flavor isn't my favorite i think i'm actually going to go with a decent shave we have got fondant which is good and mixed and it's supposed to be an assortment of different kinds of candies there's so many different kinds this is the widest assortment i've ever seen look at all these are literally all different kinds how many do we got i don't know but i like these at least i like the one that i had yeah i like the one i had are we going to rate every single one i'm going to try the black one so i'm afraid it's going to taste like black licorice right i actually do not like oh yeah that's a black licorice i mean well there's another one that one flavor i didn't like as much but i really like the other two that i had so i don't even know how you rate this one i i guess i'll give it a decent i this is the whole bag this is the toughest one to rate because it really depends on the candy and i haven't had one of all of them but i can't i don't think i can sample all of them we're tasting nyet krim and i'm super excited for this it's got a little hazelnut on it so i think that it is gonna be like nutella apparently you just squeeze it into your mouth i read it was from the 80s and it's having a resurgence apparently it is super popular there and people really love it there's books written about it and our friend jacob told us there are books written about it i think this is the second time we're squeezing something into our mouths we're breaking new uh grounds guys so if it's not creme what is it it's a hazelnut is it paste it's nut cream yes yes paste it's like a more sugary nutella you don't like it it looks weird it's kind of more like icing yeah than nutella nutella is like denser and this is more like a nutella flavored icing on a cake i think this would be amazing on a cake it's a little bit much to eat on its own yeah you put this in your mouth and then like you swallow it wrong with you first of all just follow it i don't know how i feel about this because i want to spread it on something like nutella i just don't i can't take a spoonful of nutella and just like swish it in my mouth and this is where we are different because i could 100 eat nutella off of a spoon no problem i'm gonna give it a delicious because it's such an interesting snack the texture is a don't for me the taste is a delicious how about that sure okay but we're also gonna agree to disagree strela strella grill chips okay so our friend jacob and his team tells us that these are the most popular chips in sweden but that there is a competitor which is olw who also makes potato chips and i guess you're either team estrella or team olw we are not being given the option this is the very best according to the very good team and uh so we're going to try just these but let us know in the comments which team you are this is really good yeah it's a grilled onion i guess um yeah these are really really good potato chips yeah so we don't even need to try olw you've won us over strela this is good we really love these this is addicting like it's addicting if you have this one bag you'll probably get another one which luckily we have another one this is this is fantastic i'm excited about this one grill if you ever wanted to know what a grill tastes like it's not this but it tastes great i'm gonna give it a dangerous yeah dangerous damn jacob we're gonna have some dm oh my god hot chocolate covered werther's that's what it tastes like yeah i love where there's two which is butterscotch damn indeed this is great it's really good wow their chocolate quality is just top-notch so it makes everything better because that's what you're putting on it i like this i would say this is dangerous i'll eat the whole thing i think this is delicious because i actually can only eat so much of like toffee and butterscotch it just gets like that's like this point of too sweet where i kind of cap out it's absolutely delicious i just couldn't eat that much of it damn we have marabou chocolate this is the classic chocolate bar of sweden we have hershey bar in the u.s which is like the worst it's the worst come on it's good for what it is you can't call it the worst there's a whole park dedicated to that kind of chocolate okay it's called hershey park so in sixth grade we did an eye search project and everyone had to pick one topic to research any topic in the whole world because the whole thing was about learning how to research and so you could pick anything a sport whatever i picked chocolate and one of my sources had to be to write a letter to someone and get first hand information and i wrote to hersheypark and they sent me some cocoa beans so how could you hate on hershey it's really good milk chocolate very milky better than hershey's but i might like cadbury a little bit more i like it but i think it's delicious i mean i i agree that it's definitely better than hershey's it's definitely got like that higher quality the milk chocolate is really milky yeah which is totally what you like yeah but i love it i often like a little bit darker chocolate but this is really delicious melt in your mouth good quality chocolate i would say delicious not dangerous i think this is delicious too i think that this is a really good solid chocolate bar olw cheese doodles we have cheese doodles here cheese doodles has like some competition then i'm gonna dig in is that okay open it oh they're like so cheesy they're smaller for sure it tastes like a fancier cheese right it does but it's not as cheesy yeah it's not quite as cheesy i don't know what flavor cheese we have here that's on ours is it like an american cheese flavor i honestly don't know cheddar is cheddar this feels like it's a it's a more sophisticated mix of cheeses don't know what they are what are you saying that cause it's just from sweden no it has a different flavor to it it does right it's light airy it's definitely saltier yeah it is saltier but i like this they're delicious these are really good they're delicious very good cheese noodles i don't know if they would be considered dangerous but they're delicious because they're just kind of like your average cheese noodles and they're good they're tasty i'd rate them as delicious they're super light so i would probably just eat through the whole thing the cheese on these tastes more at like a pirate's booty than it does a cheese doodle okay looking over that that's what it is i think of pirate's booty as the first class puffed cheese snack in the it's a gourmet snack we're going to start our journey into salty licorice dangerous waters which we know is really popular in scandinavia this is where they're gonna be like i am so disappointed in you guys this is where we're gonna lose some followers but please hang in there with us we both don't really love licorice but we're still going to try it out for all of you so we've got the same brand here we've got super sour and salty licorice and we're going to do you want to start them exchange because let's start with those we'll start with those it's really sour i really like it i like it i had the orange it was taking a while for a shower to come out i'm wondering about the lemon that might be super sour i like it i'll try one more i can hear the saliva i'm gonna try the lemon oh oh the lemon is really good is it sour yeah i'm not gonna try the rest i do like this i think this is great as far as dangerous i would say it's delicious i'm gonna go like delicious you couldn't eat too many of these so super cert super sour very good delicious okay here we go into the world of salty licorice i've never actually had salty licorice i don't really like regular licorice this is my first salty liquor snack so it's like beach water they literally put jagermeister and beach water and candy form and i'm like drowning in it honestly though the salt is kind of making it easier for me to accept the black licorice flavor i think so too i ran out of the salt oh man i don't know how to rate this because it's like just not my flavor personally i wouldn't eat it again i don't think that i could say this don't because i think people that love licorice would probably love it because i think the texture is good i really like the sour one i'm i'm just not gonna rate the licorice we're gonna eat monkey sex jungle brow that's a little bit inappropriate so this is a bag of more salt licorice um but there is like this one white salted gummy piece in it i don't know if this is like an error and it came from a different candy collection or if there's one in every bag but i don't think there's one in every bag let us know in the comments again i'm gonna say this and eat it after that and i'll tell you what i think it is but let's try this salted licorice again oh they're little monkeys are they look oh yeah look at that these are really hard it's it's not as salty are you kidding it's super salty really yeah that's all i taste it's a milder licorice too i can this one isn't so bad i like the other one better oh i like these better so we saved the licorice for last in case it changed our taste buds throughout the process that changed affected our taste buds throughout the process i like when you eat something really spicy and then you can't taste anything after i'm going so much better i think you think it's so much better because there's no flavor to it once the salt goes away it's just a monkey but it's not as liquidy that's probably why yeah there's not there's not much flavor there's i like this one no no i'd chase it don't i'm gonna try this mystery piece it's not shaped like anything i think it's a mistake was it a mistake it's all salt turkish papaya turkish pepper the ultimate salty licorice classic with a surprise bomb of saltiness inside surprise balm not such a surprise i shouldn't have read it huh oh man i read about a little bit about salty licorice in scandinavia to try to figure out a little bit more about it and it's been a thing there for a very long time and they think that because it's ammonium chloride which used to be used in medicine it originated in pharmacies but they're not really sure but that's the folklore behind it this is like our own version of hot ones yeah and it's all licorice this is kind of like my version of hell it's not bad but it's not hot it's not hot i'm still not a fan but i'm definitely used to it more it's slowly getting saltier but i wonder what oh my god this little thing is so i'm going to try and bite down because it looks like lava here we go oh my god i mean there's salt it's not that bad okay it's not bad i'm all right [Music] it's not spicy no do swedes have like a low tolerance for spice oh man if that's the case i'm gonna mess with so many swedes honestly i prefer this flavor over the first one i know it's not spicy but i feel like i'm on fire no your mouth doesn't feel like it's on fire like i am warm i just feel like there is some chemical reaction going on in my body and it feels very hot it feels heat hot in my mouth it's the ammonia maybe you're a slug i mean i never want to eat it again please don't unsubscribe i have so many swedish friends i love you all dearly but i don't want to ever eat this again you lost so many friends just now swedish friends precurious what do you guys think who loves licorice who doesn't like it i feel like there is no one who is like oh i'm on the fence like either you love it or you hate it i actually didn't mind this well i'm really proud of you you're expanding your palette i am okay well we really tasted the gamut here in sweden we had a new kind of salty different kind of salty for sure that's all your team it is you have to clean those i'm gonna claim it and you know what i did get used to it i'm still not a full fan but i could definitely see where someone could be like okay this is this is pretty good this is pretty delicious out of all the snacks i feel for myself that i really enjoyed today was definitely these the grill chips so tasty those were really good salty my favorite was the smash i thought these were so good even though we've had several chocolate coated bugles which i didn't even know was a thing until we started filming this series but this one specifically i thought was really good it's a great bugle good corn flavor and then the chocolate is just top notch across the board great chocolate quality yeah i agree since we've been making these episodes we've run into several bugle type products that have been covered in either chocolate or white chocolate if there are any more countries that have the same kind of bugles please let us know down in the comments because we would like to try it out and maybe have a
