Salt preservation : wings

all right so last video I showed you how to process the feet further you know they're kind of small animal really threw salt preservation so today I'm going to be showing you have to process the wings say Malcolm yesterday actually I'm gonna give you guys a better look at him but I feel like you can't get a good look and see his eyes are beautiful and that beak oh my gosh I'll find the ears to show you guys cool thing about owl ears probably going to also take some feathers but a beautiful birds so sad that he got a hit can't believe that he did that or she who knows she they have been thought out for not long enough it feels like now wings are a bit trickier than feet because there's more to it here at the sea if his wings are actually usable first look at that beautiful alright so I think I got a weenie do the doom to the position he died in this is going to be very hard trying to get to the joint without damaging him any further there we go he is to find a bone and then just stretch out from the bone and then there you have it it starts right here this is a bottom topics worth tongues not exactly sure if his other wing can be used because this is like the side he got it on and he's pretty pretty smashed so if we're only gonna be able to use one wing all right this measurement is just a personal data you don't have to do it if you don't want to eighteen inch a bird now the only reason I have this guy is because I have paid him through Kimmel like I said vowels I believe are protected species so you can't just go out shooting these guys because alright once again they're just me doing claims cult now you're gonna need a lot of this because it's such a big piece one I may or may not have to use the same scalpel from yesterday I just put a guard on the blade go ahead and extend the wing as much as you possibly can and find your joint once you found your joint you wanna take your twine it's your small piece like I said just like yesterday I don't have my scissors so I have these available for everything oh gosh Thank You semester find your joint and tie it off just like we did with the people now the problem is we're birds there's so much feather inch and that little Downie's stuff it's just there's gonna be a lot of fuzz flying around while you do this and now with our joint right off we want to extend take a clamp just to mark it twine kind of blends in with those feathers let's see if I can even get the clamp on him how big this joint is nope well like what this going to happen wing it yeah all right so grab right here at the joint and twist while I you should have a busted joint like that bone sticking right on out of it let's go ahead and take a scalpel now the only reason it's coming away so easy is because he's been in the freezer basically just like cutting off a pork chop you have your wing not like I said his other wing is he got hit on that side I'm not exactly sure what I want to do with that but I'm probably going to harvesting for feathers and now here comes the fun part I actually show you how to keep this bad boy so the materials you're gonna need for this next part it is a flat bottom kind of tray size to your specimen kind learning my lesson from the feet it made sure to get an appropriately sized container this time plain salt strip of cardboard also size to your specimen this one isn't exactly correct because the pose I'm going to be putting the wing in is kind of going to be not as once up as it most people would like this so and then of course can't forget so it's the most important thing all right so I'm gonna take your salt you cover the bottom of your container in a inch-high layer make sure you cover everything completely as best you can because this is the most important part that's all right take your specimen to lay it out on your cardboard hose it how you'd like now I'm using regular thumbtacks safety pins if you came in place and you could pretty much use anything you want I just this is all I had laying around I just want to get the wing posed how I want yep nice and spread out like that and just pin in the cardboard example you probably won't even need more than two or three pins this actually isn't something that takes a lot and now with your pain specimen take your spectra you get it in there nice and comfy now it's okay if the feathers get a little squished like how it is enough top because they're always gonna be able to be straightened out I'm getting nice and situated then you just want to take your salt and cover it on it yep the whole damn thing just very pay special attention to the stump once again I have a fan going so I apologize for any noises in the back and if any feather tip stick out that's not too much of a problem considering the feathers don't really have much meat in there so once again yeah they love me when they see me coming out the shopping centers over hey he buys all the salt he buys all the sauce these crisis takes forever no I will not time-lapse I better not see any comments asking that try not to be wasted and voila you have just successfully preserved yourself and now like I said this works on any kind of bird you know it's just you'd have the size appropriately and gives you a cool craft you can keep them in years to come so on that think like and finally call it quits on this guy thank you so much
