hi guys welcome back so today i am going to talk to you about my cost of living here in japan and of course that includes disclosing my monthly salary which is fine because alt salary is no secret and it is a public information like if you google jet program salary you will find it in maybe like less than 10 seconds so i am hired under the jet program and this is my first year teaching in japan in today's video i am going to talk about and enumerate all of my utilities and bills and how much i get to save every month just a disclaimer i want you to know that every situation is different the cost of living here in japan apartment rent for example depends on where you live since i live in the countryside i pay less than those who live in tokyo or in the other big cities i know some alts who pay more than i do and some who pay less than i do okay so i don't want to keep you waiting so let's just get started my monthly base salary is 280 000 yen or 134 000 pesos or 3700 canadian dollars but i don't get that amount in my bank because i still have to pay for my health insurance income tax pension and all that jazz so every month i do get this breakdown slip showing my renumeration or my monthly salary minus all the deductions to make the long story short i receive 213 554 yen every month and it is deposited into my bank account here in gunma in japan so we we get our salary every 21st of the month by the way we are paid only once a month so unlike in canada they pay us every two weeks in japan it's only like once a month so i really have to be careful about my spending before i start i just want to let you know that i don't send money home and i don't anymore have student loans to pay so everything that i get out of my salary is just all for me so what are the deductions for health and social insurance and pension i pay 39 396 yen and for income tax i pay 5270 yen and i also pay for employment insurance in case i lose my job so it is about 840 yen per month now let's proceed to the utilities and bills apartment rent now i live in a 2 ldk apartment that means that aside from my living room i also have a separate bedroom and a separate dining and kitchen and also my parking space is free for my rent i pay about twenty 000 yen per month so why is it cheap my rent is a little less compared to other alts because half of my apartment rent is being subsidized by my boe or my board of education which is also my employer so they pay half of my rent and my rent fee is automatically debited from my bank account every month my boe already set it up for us so that i don't have to go to the company to pay for it which is super nice and this goes to all of my bills except my school lunch which i pay up front at the boe okay let's go to transportation i'm driving a k car in japan and my car rental fee is 17 200 yen per month what's nice about it is that it already includes the oil change repair tire change and all the maintenance i don't have to worry about that it's all included in in the monthly rent i also pay about 3 000 yen for gas every month so when i say 3 000 per month that is only if when i drive from home to school and home and school to home if i do any travels or if i go to the city or to other fireplaces of course i have to shut out more phone and internet for my phone and internet i pay about 8 500 yen right now i am with softbank and and i got the 50 gigabytes of data but i am switching to my mobile next month so i only have to pay about 4 000 yen and i'm planning to get a pocket wi-fi which at the end of the day i still have to pay like almost the same now let's go to school lunch i pay about 4 600 per month for school lunch so to my favorite bill which is the water bill i never paid more than 2 200 for my water bill which is super great i don't know why this is already given that i always like take long warm showers and i use my tub once a week now let's go to the dreaded electric bills my electric bills depends on the season so last summer or last september i paid about 2370 yen and then last february was like the most expensive i paid around 7 340 yen and you guys electricity in japan is super expensive like i cannot now for gas anhydrous this is what you use to heat up your water and like what you use for cooking and this also depends on the season again last september i paid about 2700 yen which is which is okay and then last month was the winner i paid 4980 yen this is because i take long showers and i use my tub once a week so last one is groceries for my groceries i usually budget around 15 000 yen because i eat my lunch at school i usually eat cereals for breakfast and then for dinner i just like cook whatever i want or sometimes i buy outside so that's why i just put 15 000 yen for my groceries guys keep in mind that miscellaneous is not included in this video i just want to make it like my utilities and bills kind of video and plus i did not include my travel budget or my eat out budget because there were months especially during the holidays and when i first arrived where i ate out a lot and then there were months or there were weeks when i ate out less i also did not include my shopping budget or my spending budget because there again there are days or there are times when like i like to splurge a lot and there are times when i really like to save for my travels so this video is strictly for utilities and bills kind of thing let's go to my total expenses in the summer months my total expenses comes up to 121 076 yen or 58 270 pesos and in the winter time my total expenses comes up to three 128 twenty six yen or sixty one thousand seven hundred sixty pesos so how much do i get to save every month so savings in the summer time i get to save 158 924 yen or 76 573 pesos and then in the winter i get to save 151 674 yen or 73 081 pesos of course more or less so that is it for my cost of living video in japan i hope you find this video informative especially those who are coming to japan to work and teach and for all the incoming jets if you have any more video suggestions please let me know by commenting down below and please don't
