you you you this program features live coverage of an African safari and may include animal kills and carcasses viewer discretion is advised good afternoon everybody and welcome to another sunset Safari coming to you live from the sabi sands private game reserve where we have found five members of the Oklahoma pride and if you'll give us a few moments we'll show you the little surprise that we have also stumbled upon this afternoon hello everybody it is a very warm 25 degrees Celsius 87 degrees Fahrenheit and my name is Steve and I'm joined by Owen on camera and we arrived here moments ago and we found amber eyes with something very cute and very special but we'll have to show that you not in the moment at least one of the newest everybody know I can't help myself but give away that surprise think it's just behind her there there's more than one well nervous at first quite sure what's going on but they will calm down as they see how relaxed mummies just need a moment they just need a moment to catch up and as soon as they feel comfortable they'll come back and the lure of muck attracts them so we're going to sit right here till we get to show you how many she's possibly got now this whole time myself and Jamie and Trish and James have been looking for purple eyes to be having Cubs and it seems as if maybe it is amber eyes the entire time who knows I think purple eyes is also well underway as well I'm gonna try and identify one of these are the lioness and see who it is but for now the Cubbies have been very shy don't forget everybody we are live and interactive would love to hear from you this afternoon hashtag safari live or send to your questions on the YouTube chat stream ok well where we are thank you everybody for the the cuteness and for saying congratulations but it wasn't very hard we just came down the road here and there they were sitting on the side of the road and it was one little cub meowing it mum now it's been suckling already the last few moments and I think it's kind of warm and has moved off into the shade but I think there's more than one lions can have up to six cups the average is normally about three and the ridge nose with the two other little peanuts I think is still down in the West or sorry in the east no dark the lure to come back to her babies attracted her back again and she brought a few of the others with it see if I can identify any of the others is very hard when they're lying flat like this it is a nice warm afternoon and I as soon as we see them I'm sure you've all just melt well as always I'm not the only one out on safari Lauren Arthur is art she is I'm not sure where she's going to be headed about you'd like to say good day yes indeed I would and good afternoon to you all welcome to your sunset safari of today of course my name is Lauren and I do have Davi on camera who is still alive and well and with us so of course Steve is very lucky getting to see amber eyes new little cubbies I'm very very very jealous of course happy for Steve and hopefully they will spend a lot more time on Juma and we can get to see them a lot more regularly the Inca Houma pride is of course expanding lots of little stinky Punky's are joining the pride so this afternoon don't have a plan I'm just gonna bumble I'm gonna head into the Marathi because it is incredibly hot today oh no we don't we did okay you got it well spotted and there we have it yellow bill horn Bell not Winston Churchill but still the exact same species you see I was opening his mouth there it's probably doing some gula fluttering just by flapping that little flap in this room to try and cool down because I was going back to what I was seeing it is incredibly hot not complaining in the slightest but I figured we'll check Galago pan and no one was around so if we do go into the mawashi it's nice and shady and cool I'm hoping that we can bump into someone I hear the elephants from this morning are still around so I do hope that we may bump into them again and get to spend some more time with the elephant's before they do disappear on us again oh good this is a little bit jerky this bar a little bit hairy a little bit bumpy now he's holding on tight but weebo get there we'll get into the more earthy and see exactly what we can see no news on the leopard front which is exactly what and who I have been after since this morning we're gonna make it yes we are but hopefully hopefully we'll get some news there are other vehicles out and about today and I believe there's lots of guests in the area who of course want to see black parts so everybody is looking for a leopard and more eyes the better oh yes lu lu is reminding me of the mystery of ting bada bing that's gonna live on it's already spread to FC and Johannesburg and I really think that nickname is indeed gonna live on yes the mystery of Tang Ghana I really have no idea I spoke to one of the guides Aubry that we know very well and he also has no idea where it's in Ghana went from last night they followed him for a little while was well after drag drive had rats and we don't know where he is if he is said I'm gonna kill of course it'll probably be in the block in the thicket in the sheets feeling very fat and panting a wave as leopards do so the mystery remains unsolved but I stay hopeful when it comes to ting bada bang I stay hopeful I saw some other great nicknames as well when I was having a little reads um I don't know for people to remember them but some of you have came up with some incredible nicknames for ting God I'm very very impressed okay hold on here we go robots being the shade what a relief while my cameraman holds on for dear life we are gonna send you back over to the stinky punky go home once thanks Lauren well good luck trying to locate ting butter Bing where ever he might be was on the Dan cave of leave last night no Dottie's come back in response to the presence of who Kamui me the cabins have not come out again everybody I think it might be a little bit too hot I'll say Cubs plural is that I'm hoping I don't know how many they are there's one little bundle of joy when you've got yep very small and very cute I think they will eventually relax and come out to a very relaxed am bars hopefully she can do a better job this time the age of it looked a week maybe at two two weeks probably the smallest or the youngest client kebab ever seen we've been searching this drainage line right over here for the last two weeks we've had the thoughts and feelings that purple I was going to have Cubs and there's been I've had tracks coming directly in at this exact junction into the drainage line just off to a right-hand side yeah but we haven't managed to find anything but no doubt they've been very well concealed and it is probably the major reason considering we saw how far the pride moved with the two other ones probably the main reason the lionesses have been hanging around so close to juvett pan so here I am this little drainage to the right yet this is where we've been sort of trying to scout for her but when you find tracks going in one line is going in and then possibly not coming out then you've got to drive around and if you don't find them coming out there's no driving and there's no walking in their blue smokey one of their four cubs are too young to be around the pride well it's my first time seeing them they're ours are open which means that they're more than a week old normally that first week when they're gone there's no real they're not seen by anybody other than mum the risk the pride doesn't interact with it they're not really seen that just bit too sensitive too young but this one I think it comes out we get to see it again you can all give me your judgments is very bright oh it's good back over there I think I've just lost my eyesight and we're just gonna try and keep very quiet because you know when when the caps of this young I mean it's the first time they've seen vehicle so then just everything to them right now is foreign but they looked old enough to to be stole hidden away in a den not old enough to be walking around that's why the lionesses are right here next to the den that they're being kept in and the den is that we saw the youngster run twos just behind her to the right there just behind us somewhere the Angus has gone in to that little thicket so it's very very concealed lots of little fallen over trees and little cavities so who knows exactly what's being used but we're not gonna go any closer than we are and but as obviously when we arrived we saw the lines as I go Lions here then I just saw this tiny little thing looking at us like completely bewildered as to what this machine was that was moving doing it moved away and then amber eyes looked at her or him I didn't get a proper look and made a little noise and came back and started suckling and she gave it the cutest little embrace and licking process Louisan and final control was just melting but then I think it might have all been just a little bit too much for the little one and it's gone back into hiding yeah so Louise is agreeing which was definitely a melt worthy moment Yoda is a roll out of big ball of yarn that should probably work definitely be very cute Dena ethical would be all just going to have to be patient that is the way it is now I know that and until those Cubs come out none of you are going to be leaving your chair and to be sitting a wrapped to the screen until the Cubs come out and well what more could be asked for you can have to keep your questions and comments coming through and let's see just how many of the little ones pop out because well it's like the first time they've seen a car and so they're just gonna be a little bit shy the lionesses you can see couldn't couldn't care couldn't care at all attend a mighty was just start talking a little bit softer maybe the soothingness of my voice might attract the little kitty cats out and now we've parked in the Sun and I wish you'd parked in the shade [Music] so many of you wondering where the other Cubs are well we've got five lioness yep and we're missing two lining three lioness and two Cubs six seven lioness went to cheetah planes don't know if they all made it over there but definitely last night on the radio they were talking about that and Goomer pride with the young cubs so that could potentially be one maybe two of the lines there with those two cubs and amber eyes would have missioned all the way back here for her youngsters and seemingly at least two of these that I can see here of sub-adults I can't see the other two but they would have in search of food as well they would have followed the big powerful amber I was thinking they were going to go hunt and she led them all the way back to her den and now they'll just be lying yeah then you look like they've had anything to eat but at least they are following here cuz last year when she had two sets of Cubs it seemed like she had them over in Simba be least sad and she kept having to come to find the pride to hunt in it by the time she got back each time we believe her cubs had been killed at least the one time one occasion was from highly net more presence to keep those sort of predators at bay are you concealed areas it's very exciting I tell you that owned and even I was just pointing to the left and here didn't quite realize that I'd seen a cab there mean is so when he was nearly fell off the car which wouldn't have been our deal okay well we're going to stay here we're gonna keep you updated as soon as things change in the meantime Lauren is having a NASA River cruise I'm on the river cruise with my pepper she had the best time yesterday was red it's delicious and yet there are flies everywhere which is really not so delicious and we're slowly slowly slowly going down the mati hoping hoping hoping hoping for some animals seeking shade I think I'm enjoying the shade a little bit too much possibly why I'm driving so slowly making our way down here now if we really really don't find anything in here I think was gonna be a great call today I haven't been since something back because of course animals will definitely be thirsty and I'm hopefully later on I can pop in to see my little Eanes of course it is really only June and ribbons that are around the den and hopefully I think he popped in yesterday and there was no adults hopefully the adults will be there Ian's asking has the wind come down since yesterday I don't actually notice a dramatic change in the wind suggest it was a windy yesterday I didn't think so I don't think it's particularly windy today would be actually nice if it was I do apologize for sweating here the temperatures are just we harder than I expected so I'm not sure if the winds of Condon's is yesterday I'm sorry I can't answer that I really didn't notice it to be too windy it potentially could have been during the night I sleep like the dead but other than that I'm really sorry and I'm not able to give you a few answer on them okay we're gonna stick with this for now but as the hyena Cubs are getting older there will have to be the world has to come a time of course when they're going to spend more time away from the Seine they will become a lot more independent and you know we don't need to worry too much about an adult being around once there get a little bit older they're so very much dependent on the Danna's at this moment which is why we're able to see them which is good for us but of course there will be come a time when it's just like plunk they won't need it then they're gonna be independent and they'll be off causing trouble wherever they go and once a day does come there is an age gap between gins cough and ribbons cub but once that day comes unfortunately the Juma clan are not really gonna be tied to a Dane they probably will have a communal area where they will meet and they were gara because they are social animals but it won't be attained as such and that communal area can change on a weekly basis so it's gonna be really really difficult to keep up with the Juma clan once that happens and to be perfectly honest with you I'm dreading it I don't want that to happen so hopefully just like the Inca who must have a little cubbies we do get little hyena Cubs soon again and then there will be a beast around to date which is exactly what we need oh it's nice and cool here now up ahead for those who didn't see yesterday we have elbows fingers are just asking that I just said it great minds think alike yes I'm gonna look for the elbows or a little bit further down and hopefully they're there I think Trish ala had a little look for them this morning not sure exactly if she went all the way down the moitie she wasn't able to find them but hopefully hopefully we can because if we are correct in our theory that they do have a nest then they will be there most of the time both of them and gets a male and female but I wasn't able to tell exactly which one was a male and which one was a female so fingers crossed we can catch up with our I will appear it really is beautiful driving down the Milwaukee base it's really quiet today now he's gonna give you a lovely view of what I can see there we go pull the embankments of this dry riverbeds so as I enjoy my wonderful river cruise without the water of course represent you guys back across to Steve and his lions thanks Lauren good luck trying to find that Nestor to be really cool to see giant eagle our list our lioness of one or two have moved get back into the shade of the quarry trees right down here on the Malati we've had a lion filled two weeks everybody and the speculation behind Cubs has been quite incredible and in it's not impossible that purple has also got cubs I mean she looked so uncomfortable the other day we've got definitely to sub-adults yet you can see that Owen on the right is a sub-adult that one in the middle is a sub-adult with am bars on the right there on the left is an adult's I haven't yet identified that one in the middle I'm not sure I'm sure we'll get a good look at then soon hello Morning Glory I'm not hundred percent sure between a week in two weeks maybe maybe the most three I'm really not an expert it's ageing them when this they're the size but it was just a little round head the ears weren't even standing up was just this little ball of fur get a look soon I'm sure when they finally brave the heat to walk out of the shade back over here so I would like all of your opinion everybody all I know is it's a brand-spanking-new more than a week because the eyes are open and it's moving around away from the thickets which means that it doesn't it's got use of its feet at able to walk around and well it did a little jog back set figured there as well so doesn't really matter to me they're very cute and there might be more than one there might be more than one that one might have just been the braver of the lot or the hungrier of the lot his mum they're freaking am if she moves who will be able to get to look at her memory glands and see the suckling that's been taking place I mean we we had thoughts that she'd been suckled but then I did notice that a couple of the other youngsters the two other little boys were suckling from her and we all thought if she doesn't have Cubs that it's kind of strange but I definitely saw them suckling the other day but she wasn't very sort of forthcoming towards it but I saw her before we went laughs being very very loving with the smallest lion cub I've ever physically seen remember when the sausage tree pride started popping out those Cubs were out in the beginning there's littlest things and that is how big it looked two sets of round head the ears don't really stand up I'm not going to move I can't to start the engine we're just going to sit here very quietly gonna be as patient as Jamie Patterson was in the mire watching waffles reveal her new cub hello kjj yes I saw a purple eye yesterday morning on Drive no that was cheetah's that the more in the morning before I saw her on Drive she was with the pride and they all walked over to cheetah Plains that individual there on the far left is an a lot might be her I don't know I'll need to have a look in a moment that's definite Ridge knows because the sucker marks are not very clear it makes sense that it's purple eyes due to the fact that three adults so who knows maybe we'll be surprised with some more bundles but we were all speculating and that purple I was going to pop and this is exactly the area we've been searching and searching and the other day when there was a lioness who's that there's an ostrich that's another sub a dolt that is the one who's been was mating with the Mohawk male after tag teaming with blondie she's got that very nice oh I got a very fair each in his purple and purple eyes yet and the other adult is purple art that is official so there we go one on the far left she I just saw her she gave me her purple are her best purple own that young lioness is having a poo everybody and the wind direction is actually favorable I'm just gonna get my buff ready just in case because if I need to mask myself that's going to have to happen quickly at least she's not looking at us with that okay there's purple eyes up there Owen let's just see if she's going to show us her face okay everybody sorry if she goes a little bit behind the car you can see her face and her see her eye in a moment as soon as she comes out from the bush okay so it's Ridge nose and one of the other sub-adult lioness that are not here as well as obviously the young two young males the Hmong Guinea and Roma okay so you can see she's still looking quite sort of bloated sorry she's going behind the vehicle let's stay with this lioness yeah and otherwise you're just gonna get aerial and everything careful you want to know if the young male has been following the pride and we got in the other morning if you haven't watched the video it was really quite funny there's this guy who climbs out the corn chases lions I think it's very funny but he the young male was with him that day and the next day I found the pride moving and the one of our male mohawk is his name was following them originates the matter of the two caps that are around at the moment not the ones that are here with us she gave him a bit of a hiding and they went all the way over to talk to cheetah plains only to now return two days later and what can I say but we were heralded with an incredible surprise when we got you and I'm just hoping that seeing as these lioness or starting to sort of move a little bit that maybe we're going to get some action from the Cubs don't dare move at the moment well this young lioness is going to come and say hello are you gonna come and have a poo right here are you yes oh yes miss she that should be cheeky they do do it I'll do apologize the back of the vehicle everybody we have no control over where'd these animals move to he's following purple lights a bit early in the day girls isn't it they're probably starving okay well very good girl she's going to have a poop directly behind us but now I'm not so sure about the wind direction I think the wind direction is okay I really hope so yes my buff is in place in case okay very good well we're going to stay watch everybody I'm sure at some point we'll be able to reveal some cuteness for you but in the meantime let's go back over to Lauren who's still enjoying the more whitey can I be honest with you all I do not feel sorry for Steve at all I hope he is enjoying being four who in Kakuma aroma shall we call it because I have suffered through that many a time and it is not not nice from both the sticks pride and me right so Steve enjoy and Owen enjoy it's probably for me the worst smelling smell in the bush lion Scott I dear me it's yes it's awful it's absolutely awful from our dear lions I think it's worse than hyenas I have had this debate many times so some people think hyenas smell worse I don't I honestly think in the lions when when it comes down to the worst smell of the bush what do you think Davi lions are hyenas there you go there you go it says smile you just cannot escape and when they decide to defecate all around your vehicle when you really really can't escape but sometimes you have to even drive over it which means it was on your tires and the smell is able to stay with you throughout the whole Drive so yes and of course lions are very very well known for all during communal toilets at once almost drove in touch me there I was not paying attention that was evident so yes once one lion wakes up and does a toilet it seems to spur on contagious behavior and they all do so the bigger the pride the bigger the smell so we're almost at the end of the maratti and I have bad news I wasn't able to see the elbows just a little bit sad I was really really hoping to see them and I have seen that spotted eagle I will there before and the same tree and yet they were not there today a little bit sad I was hoping to show you the elbows but it doesn't mean they're not nesting and it doesn't mean they will not be back in that area so I think it's always worth checking out but it looks like no one wanted to be in the Milwaukee today other than myself so Chitra it is the largest waterhole that we have nearby janet is asking a question I don't have the answer to when was her when was the last time that was actually water in the Milwaukee I'm really not sure exactly when it was it did used to flow it is a dry riverbed but I think it's being dry really really dry for a very long time I don't actually know the last time it slowed to be perfectly honest with you but Janet I will find out for you and get back to you on exactly which D I actually can't imagine and picture this area with a flowing river he definitely won't be able to drive down it in these vehicles with it form with water but I really can't imagine that in my head yes it was that we once upon a time so Lou is telling me Jamie once saw it flowing on a drive so it must be in some recent years Jamie's been here for about four years so within the past four years it has flowed but as for a date I really really don't know ah there we go so were heading on to check one out and see if anyone was having a drink now the interesting thing is because it is winter it's it's so dry you can really really see through the thickets through the blocks and yet we're not able to see any records which is frustrating me a little bit but we're still on it so as we head on to the big water hole we're gonna send you guys back to see the lines underneath thanks everybody well I'm amber as did the other lioness have moved towards the road and purple I got up and has walks away from the pride in this heat just trying to see where she got to cuz I mean it's such a strong possibility that even she has got cubs that was our first thought why would you walk away in this heat from the shade unless there was some motherly sorts of something or rather going on where did she go their tracks didn't come here we will go straight back to the rest of the Prado everybody don't worry we will hopefully get you some cuteness before the days are fit managing as we get to find a second clump well she's just in the shade over here it's not the most ideal sort of area for Denning but who knows just do a little loop around and have you know walking this afternoon that's for sure hello ninja - are pregnant for approximately three months there's close to 200 days so it's not a very long time but they give birth birth to very small little Cubs which are quite useless in fact defenses should I say predators get rid of their cubs quite early because they can put them in dens and try and defend them we call that altricial so probably developed whereas most of your antelope species try and give birth to sort of precocial some more developed youngsters they can sort of pick up and start running from day one all the best then they got 15 minutes - so to keep up with the herd otherwise tickets okay so she didn't come this way maybe she went all the way around us and then went back into the drainage to where we thought she was originally I had a track a moment ago over there didn't think she was going very far and where are we still good sites of the others everybody it's still good site to them you know it's not uncommon for lions as I said to to have Cubs at the same time very common in fact and so what we thought so she came here Virginia I'm not sure I know that last year okay so she went up and she went straight back down straight down probably behind us Virginia I'm not sure I know last year amber eyes had two sets of Cubs which she didn't successfully rear and I'm trying to think of the top of my head I don't think she's actually successfully had Cubs but Sam I think we've seen her cubs before knotted my tongue I was not yet I can smell where she was sir just over here this ran a mitten in the drainage that is where we've been thinking sort of purple eyes being Denning okay so June 2017 Nikki's confirming that we saw one of their buyers Cubs but I don't think it survived if we just call it a cub than it didn't so I'm just going to check here was where I had tracks last time there's even the line in the sand all right I drew for Jamie before she left and the track going straight in there and you're nobody walking in there but that is where we thought to check initially for the Cubs and now we found amber as 50 meters up the road with the youngsters in purple eye has given me the slip they've given me the slip girl if anything if she has had Cubs from what we saw the other day her Cubs are probably a week if she's had them maybe less and then I would assume amber eyes are a few a week maybe less maybe more older they're both well Amber's was was already sort of hanging out in this area when I got back the whole pride was okay what purple eye wherever you've gotten to you throwing me a loop I'm not gonna get off the vehicle to track you I won't do that today everybody although the tracks are there are the fresh but I'm just all so scared to park over there because there is a there is a lion scat there that is larger than only the most things you will ever come across in your life and I'm quite worried about it I even pulled my buff out before and had a wrap throughout my neck but I'm feeling a little bit claustrophobic yes no I that's exactly what I see her and I see that they did John or mustard over there and now that came out of a single lioness everybody hmm very fresh and the Flies wheats watering away also trying to land on our faces oh my word can you believe it it looks like she's gotten Beckley purple eyes back there with she's back there she walked right around us had a poo and came back so she's there you cheeky girl okay well when let me try and figure out exactly what's going on here we're going to send you back over to Lauren who's looking at it very sad hippo so we have made it aureus to see so much water actually and there is from a distance it looks like a beached whale and it's not a hippo I don't know if this is the one [Music] Steve had the other day but I'm just looking through my vinyls here this can you see any movement Davi I'm trying to see if I can see any any movement on this hippo it looks very still and very rigid if you just look the torsos not moving up and down from I mean my hands are shaking through my binoculars oh I wonder I wonder if we could drive around and get a look at it from the front how sad I know that Steve saw an injured hippo here but I wasn't sure exactly where it was or what it looked like or what had happened but this really does not look great from where I am there's still a huge load of oxpeckers on it if you take a little look if we can go closer there's actually two oxpeckers on the tummy go right into a wound really really get him right in there and from where I am sitting this hippo does not look alive I'm afraid which is very very sad but I don't know that or what I think I'm gonna do it's just turn around and go around to the other side and try and see if we can take a look at its face but how sad it really doesn't look alive does it well I didn't expect that okay let's go around and see if we can get a better view of this apples face and maybe get an indication if it's alive or not oh I've got traffic I'm just gonna move out of the way and block in the road as per usual if I can actually drive I don't know if they won't past or not bear with me no I don't think they do I think they're also looking at this head pool okay so we're not able to do a turn right now but let's just go back to the hippo and see if we can know if this is a dead hippo this could attract lots of predators of course from hyenas to lines as washed up on the shore is easily accessible to these predators and of course we have seen Lions eat and feast on a hippo before especially in the Mara where that really sad incident happened with Pat we do have mr. Dillon behind us actually so when I get a moment I will actually go and speak to him and see if he knows what's happened here it potentially could have been lying here for quite a while and we don't know but we do have lots of animals drinking what we want to see and the fish eagles coming in to fish eagles coming in DC it gonna land on that tree good job Davi that's definitely something that I could do there we go we have the resident fish eagle so as I'm gonna quickly catch up with Dylan here and find out what's happening we're gonna send you guys back across the Steve thanks Lauren send my regards to mr. Leo Smith yes sir I made a mistake I thought am buyers was in front of us she was originally when we went looking for purple light then I looked over to the right and saw one with Sacko marks and that was actually amber eyes who's now come back to the road where these two sub adults are lying and the purple eye has still eluded us but in this area between sort of the dam and here in the drainage is essentially going to be zoned from now on Chris we're here out in the open and we can see the lionesses and if the Cubs come out that's perfectly fine but Rexton would like us to keep it closed especially driving in the river there and till further notice because of the sensitivity that is attracted with some young cubs so sensitivity is paramount and until the Cubs to start moving around with the adults then they're going to be not viewed unless they come out into the open like they did before so here we on the roads perfectly fine but from a other viewer point of view one vehicle to vehicle three vehicles all of that is null and void and toric senses otherwise so we are allowed to stay here cuz the lionesses are art if they leave it is zoned Debbi hundred percent sure and that is exactly the case before even coming out this afternoon I was chatting with that Erickson about the potential if we do find the Cubs and he said we just zone it from a distance we would be able to park and view with a long distance camera but the area will be zoned as far as everyone else is concerned due to the sensitivity that is obviously imparted on an area like this and the attraction of other predators and all that sort of thing you want to give the Cubs the benefit of the doubt and if there's no adults around you will not even go into that area but as this lioness walks and we follow her and she takes us to it did we can do that but then it'll be one vehicle only no other vehicles will join and we'll also be chatting with Erickson regularly about about the way forward because unfortunately the problem is is if you don't regulate to the zone it you get uncontrolled use and then who knows what goes on where no one is watching amber eyes you lying in the sunshine why don't you go back over there and call out your little cabs everybody is waiting hello Steve what an interesting name Your Honor when Cubs become a sub-adult essentially hang on I'm just listening to something on the radio quickly okay sir extant disconfirming with someone who didn't listen to him on the radio he's asking if he can come to the sighting in Rex it's like no it is zoned until they are three more weeks older which is very good very good thanks Rickson it's nice to have Rickson around to to throw some weights around on the radio sometimes but Steve after a year and a half to two years you can essentially start looking at a line as a sub-adult but they're only really mature by three three and a half four so I mean some mature can than others but the Cubs they are still Cubs for six months seven months eight months they start getting a little bit feisty but there are Cubs until that sort of stage the Flyers are annoying us as much as um bars I think we need to make amber eyes a switch as well everybody likes your glory bush right next dress let's make sure that if we grab it if we don't grab what the hippo is defecated because it is an ass hippo marked tree all the green trees around at the moment are seemingly these magic quarries and Ambrose is half in the shade and half in the Sun wonder if she's going to realize that it's getting rather warm okay well I'd love to find out what exactly happened to the hippo I had ideas of lion attack or hippo attack let's go see what information Dylan's been able to in part we have repositioned and it's not looking good I'm afraid from what I can see I think this hippo is well and truly dead and it's oh it's a little bit sad it's always not it's not nice to see a dead animal of any kind but yeah Davi Oh get made some clothes for us there and I think it's safe to see that this hippo is not alive but it's just strange the oxpeckers are obviously really really poking into this hippo which makes me think that it's died recently it's not been there a long time it could potentially be the same one that Steve saw yesterday I definitely couldn't confirm that I don't know what's happened there is an injury on its side but it's a small one so I really really don't know what's happened to this hippo but mr. Dylan Leo Smith just informed us that lions are coming onto the property I believe they have focus and he did mention the inka homas but I'm not sure how many oklahoma's are with Steve right now so I don't know quite where they're coming from but it would be interesting if they did come down here for a drink and of course spot this hippo the Juma clan are really not far from here so if depending on how did this happen is how long it's been dead for then it will of course have an order and the same will obviously travel in the air and it will attract different animals mostly lions and hyenas so we can't stay forever here just looking at this unpleasant sight time we're free but I do think it is worth hanging around the area to see if anything comes along and to see what it attracts Chitra is an area that attracts many animals of course because of the water and there's always always something interesting to see Jimmy was wondering Gavin absolutely absolutely they will most of your top predators are completely are completely opportunistic and of course if they do come across a carcass they absolutely will kill it when I was up in the Mara we did find for those of you who maybe didn't aren't aware of this we did have a dead hippo in the river right on the territorial boundary between two prides right on that line just give him super same vanilla and the hippo died of natural causes and of course one pride came in and was eaten the carcass and in another pride game and and a battle ensued so absolutely leopard or light leopards to be honest it would be a bit risky for a leopard to come this carcass is known open from what I can see I don't know what the damage is like on the other side we've got a bit of a limited vision here but yes absolutely your top predators do hunt they're successful hunters but they also scavenge and they scavenge from one another so I think hyenas have the worst reputation for it as many of you know but lions and leopards equally do the same thing I mean we watched Hosanna not so long ago still some piece of flesh some lovely delicacy right out of pretties mouth so it works both ways the old scavenge from one another so we'll do a little bit of vest investigating around here and if they have Oka's are coming onto the property I don't quite know where they're actually coming on but that would be interesting to see if they do come here and they do come straight for this hippo I just wonder what happens I wonder if loo can help me out here I know that Steve saw an injured hippo but I don't actually know exactly what was wrong with the injured Hipple yesterday I don't mean yeah I did get information then he saw an injured one but I really don't know to what extent or what kind of injury it actually was okay so Lu just informed me we don't actually know what was wrong with the hippo it just looked like it was very sick very weak walking slowly and just didn't look too good so it could potentially so be the same people it's obviously passed away and sort of washed up on the shoreline here I did get a question remember the name about a crocodile very potentially a crocodile could come and drag this hippo under but it would depend on the size of the croc it's from Tom I do apologize about that if it has to be a large croc a small crop I really don't believe it be able to drag this back and but a very large full-size croc absolutely cute I don't know when it died I wish I could get some more information I will do my best to try and figure out exactly what has happened but for now we know it's sadly definitely dead as the Sun gets a little bit lower I'm gonna pop it into the jumik land and it's really not too far literally just behind us at chitra and I think they will be here soon joy is mentioned in the the other hippos seem oblivious to this and yes indeed ins unfortunately that is nature hipper has obviously died I can't tell the sex or the size or the age from here but yeah the hippos they will be aware I think that there is a dead hippo on the shore here but as for any other sort of animal way of behaving unfortunately that's just nature is obviously not a tiny young newborn hippo so the mother is not nearby but yeah the other hippos will just be going about their life I'm afraid but we don't want to spend too long just looking at a dead hippo like this so we are gonna move and just explore a little bit around the area I want to try and see exactly where the Evoque Azhar said to be coming from and coming on to the property and see who else is around so as I explore at least Steve hatched some lions over to him good luck Lauren I heard that radio updates as well that's in coomer's that are they with the two boys or headed north which two boys could that be or they're the limping guard apparent cubs are with them we are still sitting here waiting in anticipation for the Cubs to show themselves we've got the patient so everybody do you you might need to go make yourself some coffee now or some popcorn so yesterday we were at Chitra and we saw that hippo lie down looking very uncomfortable and looking very very worse for weird covered in oxpeckers it looked quite skinny managed to get up and everybody cheered as it made it back the forty meters or so to the water but it wasn't looking great wasn't really looking great and I don't know what had happened to it it might have been lying attack on the back of legs it might be in the hippo fight and now it seemed like that hippo might be dead well that would definitely track the Lions of free hippo meal okay well misty you want to know if empires and the people I would end in the same area most certainly there's they the areas that the Lions choose to dinner often areas they're frequent and it comes with certain sorts of habitat requirements so obviously these guys are Denning right yeah very close to water which it's not something you often see not too close to water but I suppose Liars aren't seasonal breeders they breed whenever so water can be available throughout the reserve whenever they're den so that might not be a telltale sign but in thickets and drainage lines where this thick cover that is where both leopard and lion choose to den and along thermo Artie here this is the thickest sort of part closest to the to the pan itself the thickest of densest part and we've walked many it's hard in this block yet and it is it is quite an interesting area to maneuver in so there's a very good chance that purple eye has indeed just snuck behind us somewhere and orexin came and joined us before just to to confirm a few things that I'm going to be blocking off the road in the river so nobody comes along here because we want these youngsters to reach fruition we want maturity we want the Cubs to get to that stage when they'll be following the pride around you don't want to add any unnecessary pressure to a den it's already hard enough for lions to to successfully rear their cubs without attracting other predators so but that's why I said I've never actually physically seen being up close to a lion den because wherever I've worked we've always had guidelines with regards to the age and the den where it is and you never want to have a vehicle suddenly driving all the way up it's not the same sort of story as a hyena den where they've got the safety of the mound and what we do at high ended and ends as well as if there's no adults we don't stay so as Rex and confirmed with me if we find the lioness Anya we can come here if we follow them here we can come but he's also just zoning it to keep the pressure down cuz he knows we're going to be very sensitive behind the whole matter and just keep the pressure down for the next two to three weeks so that everything can be these fliers are unbelievable and the gory branch that I picked is covered in hippo done it's alright I quite like the odor I'm only joking so there's a very good chance everybody that we've got the two little peanuts that are with them ridge nose and then amber eyes has got how many little peanuts here and then purple eye who is the one we thought was in labor the other day she might have some as well which means that this whole area here just south of where Taylor pen there's a very interesting area indeed and an area we're gonna be avoiding on foot we are looking to start doing our bush walks again on Wednesday the light has finally reached a time at six o'clock that it's probably okay to go walking so I'll be out on foot on Wednesday polka dot you don't have far from Chitra we are well I don't actually know I left to maybe measure that on a map it's about ten minutes drive as the crow flies but offhand I can't tell you let me let me get my map out and we'll have a little look fine remember we have hidden it I mean you don't seem too bothered by these flowers huh you bothered okay oh it has also bothered by the Flies there we go there's a Venza very nice meth app we have yeah Irene is a bit bothered by the the monster parlors of scat next to us so does this have am a legend without the legend it's going to be hard to say really but we are I can actually show you on the map okay sorry here we have oopsie alright okay you just get a little sticky we are over there oh it's not very clear is any way of improving that we are in the middle all the way down to Chitra so I'd say it's about five kilometers at the most it's not very far Chitra Chitra and all the way twin dad's over there so four maybe five you know five kilometres I would say we don't drive very fast when we're out yet so we can cover it in ten minutes normally 10 to 12 minutes quite easily and the lines if they walked in a straight line they could get there for me in about 25 minutes half an hour they do walk quite rapidly okay well you're not doing a very good job of showing everybody your Cubs everyone is sitting on the edge of their seat waiting for you to reveal your little bundles of joy but while we sit chat and be as patient as I sit as Jamie was with waffles and her little ones let's go to Lauren who's found a very torture off I have indeed bumped into a giraffe a male giraffe over here I haven't seen a giraffe in a very long time we just decided to do a little loop around chippewa property and here we are extremely happy to see this animal right now it's a very pale giraffe normally male giraffe seems to be a little bit darker than this but it is of course he beautiful boy don't disappear in Austria has been so long since we've seen you and of course giraffe populations are very very much in decline I'm sure the role they're listed is vulnerable on the IUCN the International Union of Conservation of Nature so there's different classifications of animals that are endangered and giraffes are listed as vulnerable but I'm pretty sure that percentages forty percent that they have declined in the wild in the last thirty years now that's quite a big percentage if you think about it almost half there we go so it's not a great story for giraffes I'm afraid I wonder if it's a young meal there's a sort of rule of thumb it's not exactly a sort of direct application to animals but it's a rule of thumb that as an animal gets older tends to get darker so don't wonder if this could be potentially a younger meal and IVs Gotti's passengers with uh me see the oxpeckers there clinging on for dear life as the giraffe is moving the giraffe populations we see here are actually really healthy and a lot of the giraffe populations throughout the world are suffering from the giraffe version of the papilloma virus which is similar to the sort of HPV virus it occurs in humans and it has a very horrible effect with all these lumps and wore like sort of growths all over the giraffes body and it can get quite out of control if we lost complete side of this giraffe let me just see if I can go forward and we can get him again we get him walking away from here he's definitely walking off he sure was a boy those ossicones were both no that was impossible we have lost our giraffe the tallest animal out here has disappeared on us so yes it's actually this version of HPV and giraffes are actually affecting a lot of populations throughout the world so of course they can survive with these growths and sort of warlike symptoms on their body but they can multiply and if you grow very quickly it can really really affect a giraffe 'ok and weigh them down they can also create sores can be on their face it can affect their eyesight their mouth so it's very very sad but a lot of the all the giraffes that I see out here and then the Masai Mara appear to be very very healthy that was a nice spot for the day now haven't had any information yet the game drive videos being very loud in my ear but I don't know where exactly these are workers are I'm still gonna try and find out if they are coming onto this property and I'm really not sure I'm trying to see if I can get some information from Dillon against exactly where they are and I believe Steve was explaining to you how far the Inca Houmas are away from check bah I have no idea Lou where is Steve I'm actually more receivers with the Lions he went about his very secret mission to show the Cubs with you all he's on twin dams okay yes it's 5:00 it's not really close at all it is far but definitely definitely as the night starts to come in scavengers and predators are going to appear on that hippo for sure it's obviously still very hot right now but given time when it starts to cool down that hip was going to attract a lot of attention it's probably not gonna be too Pleasant for the guests and the lodges so talking of the Inca Houmas and Steve himself over to them thanks everybody well it seems like one of the lionesses was decided to go back to the shade where they've been lying in the road it's very warm now in the test for that because we've been sitting in that Sun this whole time so well beforehand bias comes back the 30 odd meters to where we last saw her with her little yang since we've just moved to settle but I over Surrey you've got a nice view of any movement that happens and I did I found a nice measuring tape on that map of mine and I managed to measure it was almost exactly three kilometers from where we are to Chitra as the crow flies so take that across some roads and through some drainage lines and it's probably closer to three and a half four kilometers so not far at all not that far but obviously there's sometimes bushes in the way the road blocks off elephant buffalo herds these flies are really not my friends today I mean yeah they're coming straight from the pile in front of us that's great that's right it really makes us quite ill when you search it the Lions are sleeping thinking there is but their own swishes of the ears moving his eyes on the left looking rather hungry exactly and guess none of you've noticed - my job is to sit here and talk and many many times these Flyers come and land in the mouth on the lips and well need i say any more maybe turned all of you off your dinner now now you know how we feel we are here to provide live scenes and images for you of lines from the greater Kruger National Park and we will describe everything in detail from the smelt to those things that put us off and some of them but so you don't know if it's going to be a foul smelling flower landing you off it's gonna be one that bites you can't help but flick at it end up developing a nervous twitch Isana was very cute the other day busy busy trying to tack those flyers in the evening thanks very much in case you've missed the action everybody that is a lion scat probably weighs about five pounds or so ten pounds and it's very fresh very very fresh almost as fresh as the tracks okay so those of you who've been watching our show for many years we just here with uncle Homer Brad will for remember and no doubt have a fond memory of Sean Gillett who I didn't have the pleasure to meet but it's two years ago to the day I believe that she went missing vasanas sister daughter of kerala the dominant female leopard in this area for some time famous famous leopard and don't really know no one really knows she was around and then one day she was not and I know many of you back home I feel very very sad in your heart about it I feel very sad not even knowing her and I wish James or Tristan or Jaime were here to talk to you about it because they have very fond memories about that beautiful leopard no doubt they all have some words to say when they get back in a week or so but just for all of you out there we are thinking about her we are thinking about Jean Gillett and she is very well missed for many of you she was a very special leopard and if she was half of what husana is I can understand immensely how you feel he is the coolest character ever so if she is even half as good as he is well I can't imagine so our thoughts go out with all of you out there condolences for two years now of short Leela's absence I doubt she had a few run-ins with this pride I lost communication there I don't seem to be getting any comms own have you received anything and there we go shravani no cabs odd really threats to each other if anything they might push each other around a bit more and having a couple of older cousins makes you but tougher because they push you and chase you and beat you up so if anything it makes you a stronger lion oh there we go just getting warm there is one of the youngsters he's going to come in lie in a very small patch of shade she's got beautiful golden eyes I'm gonna lick my foot first no it's an bars turn to get up there we go there's a nice posture here's a nice posture so Cubs I'm in a product this will grow up to yes there'll be lots of pushing and shoving and biting in a text but there's no such thing as subside that I know of in lions lion cubs they just push each other around and have a lot of fun it's not obviously that some of them will become more dominant than others but if they're no threat to each other they're actually very fun to watch when Brent had that one sausage tree pride cub on its own that's pretty much the same sort of size that I saw this little cub but we'd had that one on its own and it didn't Survivor I mean it's on its own it didn't really have any friends as well it wasn't alive for very long sadly but if it did survive for a little while obviously the rest of the pride had more Cubs and it would have been she had some friends to play with but I think they thrive on the attention that they give each other their pouncing and the jumping and you know that's it's very important for lion development to be able to attack your sibling or your cousin to out to pounce and bite their tail teaches you all of those things of how it is to become a lion and if you're not strong enough to survive those a sort of early childhood lessons then for the most part that cub shouldn't reach maturity if they can't even survive around sort of the nursery table that makes it them much stronger if they have lots of competition when they're younger competing over mum's milk competing with each other early on for that first feeding that they get at a kill it's very interesting to watch the weaker ones get dominated and it becomes pretty obvious when there's a pride of 9 to 15 or so Cubs at one time not all of them are going to survive it's just the way it is but the strongest always will and if you're only one youngster early on it's very hard to know if you're strongest or not okay well Lawrence having a great time on Chitra this afternoon yes and Byers is getting up Lou do you think we could just wait a moment because if Ambrose walks over to where we think she's going to walk we might get the reveal shot and I would hate to not be live for this okay everybody amber ours is the mama she's walking exactly to where we wanted her to walk hold your horses everybody let's listen I'm gonna keep quiet for a few moments what a letdown I'm sorry about that we the Cubs were last teen is directly behind her now but she didn't even call them I think she's a little bit irritated with the Sun and the Flies I'm sure you know a little while as she might do so so anyway the Cubs wit wonder cub went over there last we saw and so when you're going to in a stay right yet doing what we do best being a very very patient and I think now this time we're finally gonna send you over to Lauren down at Chitra and we'll let you know as soon as anything happens the side already painful come on you must be able to see that okay well it sounds as if Lauren was not getting through that link there he must be in one of those signal dips in somewhere so don't worry you are still with us and we are batting away the Flyers and well that was almost an exciting moment there where we thought stop it you can get him but they are absolutely manic at the moment and as soon as it starts cooling down they're going to stop but let's have a look at my eyes is Bailey there please Owen see if she lifts her leg once ago she just had it in the air she just had it in the air she is deftly being suckled everybody so those of you who don't believe me am bars has got at least one cover promise here she does if we need to cut a replay for you we will do that but it definitely is a reality I think they've just they've probably been suckling for some time before we gotcha and well the need to come and drink yet hasn't yet come through maybe they waited for bars to call Michaela seems like Lauren is managing to cop communications now so let's go back over to Chitra I believe he lost combs there I do apologize we are driving a little bit out on swamp but of course we're back again and I'm undecided so I need all your help I don't know I do want to pop into the high you know Dana's really really close but let me just check the time on that one it's almost 5 o'clock normally the little cubbies and mums don't really come by it's a little bit late so once against just cooler and because it has been so hot today it's probably gonna be a little bit later until they come out should I stay in the vicinity of chitwan just go this way and keep an eye on the hippo in case I know it's very unpleasant but in case it attracts the attention of any of our characters or shoots I bumble on lets me know what you all think it would be wonderful of course not to see the scavenger of the hippo but if we were able to catch up with any of the lions or the hyenas around here we'd be great to see them so tell me what do you think should I double back and keep my eye on the hippo steam jet bah there's always plenty to see around here fill of like or shoot you bumble on and let the hippo beat you guys can make the decision for me because I'm very very undecided and Louisville let me know what you all say on that one I just want to check you're still there Lou we did have combs issues earlier she's doing okay so she will let me know exactly what y'all want me to do of course it won't be pleasant seeing that happen to the hempel but it would really be good to catch up with some of our main character is that if Nene attract I think the Sun has gone down enough to okay all of your scenes David okay so we've done a bit of a loop so we're gonna have to sort of go back into check well we can spend time there might quickly pop in at the gym McClendon just to see if anybody's there you never know I named hate back and keep our eye on the hippo and see exactly what happened nothing might happen something might happen but of course the longer you stay with the sighting and the more you up ser if you can actually learn a little bit more about what has happened what has happened to that have gone what will happen to that have form afraid because it is a big carcass it's a large carcass there could be a lot of conflict at this carcass and of course the guests at Chitra will receive I will all be on their doorstep probably won't be too pleasant for them especially a smell but it will all happen right in front of them so we will be able to get some information even if we're not there now I did ask Dylan about kochava I have only seen kochava once I absolutely fell in love with her I think she is stunning the most stunning leopard s not everyone agrees that's what I think and there's lots of rumors that mr. ting gana is meeting with coach I recently so he's in the news tanana's in the news he's potentially been meeting with kochava I'm not sure if it has been properly documented or not and he's been clashing with lots of male leopards lots of fights lots of battles so you would think if this is the case that ting Donna actually would be a lot more vocal you would hear him he's meeting needs to be territorial needs to let everybody else know who's boss and yet we're not hearing him it's a little bit strange I don't feel those two components completely add up but yes I did I still in about kochava and apparently she is here somewhere in this region in this block but it's been a while since they've even seen her imagine if we could support our beautiful Katara again more than that imagine kochava and sing ganas offspring huh Jana moon is asking how far away could a predator smell the carcass of the hippo well to be perfectly honest with you but depend on so many factors it would depend on the predator they all have different sort of capabilities when it comes to their olfactory senses it would depend on the wind it would depend on how long the carcass has been dead for and it would depend if the carcass is open obviously if it has been open from an injury or from other animals this Saint will be in there and travel further but if it is a whole animal missing untaught votes untouched then it will take longer for that Saint to dress so I'm really not sure to answer that question and think in this scenario taking in all the conditions that we have today I really feel it would be the hyenas that would pick on it first they've got incredible sense of smell incredible noses they follow their nose literally and they are very close where the hyenas communal dana's to which it was I do think everybody the hyenas that would pick up on it first today I could be wrong but they can smell so far oh I often wonder what it would be like to really be led by your nose like that to be able to pick up on a saint and be able to follow it a lot of the Predators out here really rely on their noses one of their main senses whereas humans not so much so I always wonder what that would feel like but good question fit for thought but I'm really not sure which pedis I would pick up on it first so we're gonna loop around get back to the hippo as you all requested and while we do that it seems a paralysis for other fidgety thanks Laurie good luck that side so we're looking firstly it I thought Louise asked me about an bars yeah yeah looked quite irritating the flowers have been driving a mad but she doesn't look like there's something seeping from her left eye I don't think it looks major I think it might just be either dirty or maybe she got something in it who knows it doesn't look bad just looks like it's bothering her a little bit he's a couple of our drops but the thing that's bothering her the most these flies they've decided to come and lie out in the Sun because I think maybe the flowers are less annoying you're in the Sun I don't know to Linus have come there's an bars I see how grumpy she's getting her ears keep going flat the Flies are driving all of us including in gormer pride mad so the rear of a reveal moment we were hoping for Amboise has moved away from that sort of area purple art we still haven't seen who knows what's going on but very strong I had very strong feelings about her having Cubs the other day and for her to have moved off from all of these other lionesses while it was still very warm is almost proof paint away from us Connor did one of these no too many lines around to get off on foot and go tracking never gonna live that down in my own little video you never deliberately get out of the car when they are Cubs nearby it's never something you intend to do it'll happen to every guard once in their career some of us more Courtney you want to know what my thoughts are on the uncle Huma males dispersal well it's kind of about Tom he's kind of at the age where he needs to start moving away from the pride as we've seen his sisters or cousins are showing sexual maturity as at least one of them has been mating and the problem would be is if he stuck her out he would probably try and mate with them it's not always the case that lioness will prevent him from mating but quite often that is the case but most often or not it is the big dominant males who are seeing to the pride at the time that chase away the young males and well we saw the pride together with them kuma male and in the next morning we didn't find him with the pride but then found mohawk so who knows what happened between the two of them but he needs to have a few fights and develop or build up his testosterone levels apparently that has the added effects of adding to his growing mane which has been a rather stunted of late he hasn't really bloomed looks like a very young lion although he should have actually be developing a proper mane by now maybe he needs to go off into the wilderness have a few scraps with a few other lions and maybe run a few times and learn his place maybe hook up with a couple other younger boys that are already trying to establish something for themselves because he is a beautiful young male but it's about time it's normal and commonplace for for young male lions between the age of two and three three-and-a-half to be either be forcibly removed or two to move off the behest of the lioness lionesses going charter new waters find some ladies for himself I know it's annoying and bars I can feel you and can you imagine if you smell like a lion how much worse the Flies are going to be sorry Lu there was something important coming in on the radar there Robert you and what lion smell like and that they smell very bad Robert they smell like death they don't smell very well I've I've been up a close and personal with lions before and we darted one once because it's had a very bad snare on the neck and it's got the sort of Virata to meet fated smell and it's not the very nice and smell not a very nice smell at all I suppose they do smell a little bit better than their poo though that's for sure but there's a similarity in the smell lions leopards lie in rotten meat they were all in dung to make their olan in smelly down to make them smell better so they owed to cologne is dung because that's how bad they smell you can actually if we win servants to the road there where they're lying 20 minutes half an hour and hour after I've been lying there you can actually smell it and you can pick up that fetid smell you have to have quite a keen nose but most people who live in cities cuqui their nose to block out all the smells but we've spent our march and the wilderness we to do as much as we can to to tune our senses in and I love tracking and trying to see how fresh a track is and when animals have been lying there lions you know economists you can still smell them if you quite fresh behind did you smell the other day when I smell in those tracks but animals can walk along and can smell the tracks of lions can pick up on the scent of lions and then know exactly what's going on there are very characteristic smell to the nostrils of an Impala or a kudu even you know we'd know I know that smell that's a that's a lioness I know that smell that's the big male lion so all these animals go to unique smells and it's very hard for me to give you a very accurate description of the smell we should start bottling smells sorry bout that but it's bottling smells and sending them off to all you lovely people out there to give you the full effects will start saying okay there's a lion poo everybody open your jar labeled lion poo and then at least you can feel like you're in the moment with us a little bit more I'm only joking we would never do that you think that would self you think would be able to to market that Owen well you reckon Louie's views out there do you think would be able to market the bottling of certain aromas and sending them out to you you'd all like to smell the the leopard scent marking for sure I mean I know Jamie nice to spoke a little bit about the scratch and sniff sort of book you know you open up a book and you scratch and you smell it and it give you a good idea of what something smells like that would be very very interesting but some of those indeed as Louie says the ode to hi-hi Heena pasting that is not something I recommend you putting your nose anywhere near I remember when we I was in in primary school we were doing science so we're using chemicals in the science lab and all these chemicals were brought and put in front of us and what's the first thing you do when you see something you sniff it don't you and one of the jars was ammonia and I nearly fell off my chair my nose just burnt and I felt horrible for a little while and I learned from that day onward to be a little bit more cautious about just picking things up and smelling them yeah you've got a lid it's all about conditioning all about conditioning Louise learned that lesson with Gloria well yeah there are some very very strong odors out there and well if you had to bottle a bit a lion poo and smell it it would be more than just your nose burning okay let's move offer from the subject and you see this very brave Franklin arriving over here the very brave Franklin is coming in on the path I wonder how brave it's going to be Aaron as far as I'm aware little lion cubs are pretty odorless in the beginning I've never physically smelt one it's one of those sort of strategies for protecting them in the den is keeping them sort of free of scent and a lot of antelope species when they're born or some are able to be free of scent I don't know how that's possible I'm considering hyena and lion I got such incredible senses of smell ideally by having the Cubs not having too much of an odor it kind of gives them a little bit of protection but then the tracks in and out of the den impossible to to cover those up by the lioness and it's often why she'll use different routes in and out but a very good question I don't know what a little cub smells lack and like little kitten as I suppose little kittens well this crested Franklin is being extremely brave I don't think it knows is an entire pride of lions lying yeah or it doesn't have a sense of smell because they walked right over where the Lions had been sleeping pecking at the ground trying to pick up all sorts of whatever and who knows what on the floor really trying to scratch out a living this time of you whoever has been quite cuddly today she's very sectional to the adults okay well we're gonna stay right to everybody I've made you all a promise but obviously if it gets dark we will move out of the area immediately but we might be able to get you lost view of these youngsters and the mean some lorem is heading over to that dead hippopotamus they mean Jamaat clan Dane was empty we've just got a little bit of traffic here I'm just gonna do it the polite thing and let them pass no one was out today and I'm afraid of course the cops could it be inside and maybe it's too early and it's a little bit early I think I was sort of chance and my luck they are so neither there ahead we are gonna make our way back to the hipbone now I'm not gonna lie to y'all I'm terribly confused we keep hearing lots of different updates about lions from different sources and I'm really not terribly sure what is going on there seems to be an Avoca that's crossed from the West which is quite far from where we are now there was talk of the Voges it could be separated because of course they're not always all together coming in from the south of chitwa are maybe not the so maybe they're south west next a little Gary and there's also been a comment on the video about another and Coahoma and central Juma and fled in between two radio channels they each turn the north and I'm really not entirely sure exactly what is going on with all these lions and who is we are a little bit confused so let's go and check back up on a little hippo and see if I can try and figure out what is actually going on with the line I really don't know of course the the pride is split and they evoke us can split so they could all be in the vicinity and that's maybe why it's becoming so confusing I think I'm just gonna go back on the eastern channel right now bear with me there we go let's see how confusing it gets man now there are some other vehicles headed this way and I do wonder if they are thinking the same thing about the hippo Jerry's asking a good question actually one that was going through my Haynes woods Lyons be able to drag the hippo carcass and sort of drag it further up the bank together yes has a combined effort absolutely yes as a single lioness I'm not entirely sure it is a large animal hippos not fully grown it's definitely not a complete adult but it's a very large animal for a single lioness to do that male lion potentially but I think is a combined effort of see a coalition or a prides then yes they would be able to pull it out but a single one I'm really not too sure I was actually thinking that myself let's when we get a little bit closer we can sort of take a look at the hippo and try and guess to me together a size and a weight I'm not very good at judging weak in size one of my weak points but we can try and do that together and try and guess if a lion would actually be able to do that very much so we're almost there I don't see any activity at the moment but we are approaching that lovely golden hour when it does get cooler and of course many of the predators do become more active is that it they are almost thought for a minute the HEPA was gone just my face-i hip was not there but it is there apologies sorry about that it is there okay definitely still there nothing is in sight at the moment but we'll just check in on it I agree with you Allah do you think it is worth just hanging around in Zenith anything does happen because nobody's at the Ben and I don't quite know what is going on with the Lions right now so at least if we do stay here we might get the chance of seeing some of our characters okay we're back to the same spot again let's try and see if we can at least judge the size so Jane I've already mentioned I really I really cannot judge the age of this hippo from where we're at right now though he's gonna give us a closer look this can't you're not really able to see a face or the full size it's definitely not a freely grown adult I'm really not sure I wish we could sort of get a better look at it from the other side but that won't be possible this is probably the best angle that we can work with what what size do you think it is yeah it's really difficult Steve Faulconbridge is seeing something what was that Lu what is steve telling us I really I really couldn't guess from where we're at right now the size or the weight of this hippo if I did guess I would literally be a gaseous plot from thin air so the one Steve so yesterday he thinks was about four to five years old but again I I could not say if this is the same hippo I'm afraid I think that's a little bit dangerous water to presume that it is the same hippo but this could potentially be so yesterday's one was estimated to be between four to five years old okay so lose scene it's the same size as the one from yesterday this was definitely not a fully grown adults for sure you can actually see some of the adults in the background when they pull their bodies over water you can see there's quite a drastic size difference yeah there we go we're getting a look at one's bottom that's definitely an adult that's partially submerged and in this one here I think there is a possibility a meal like you could drag this one and I'm really not sure if I can guess to me besides I'm afraid if it is the same one that seve saw yesterday then it's obviously being sick it's obviously being rather weak and possibly made it through the night and in passed away at some point today there's just a rather sad scene you can see how pink they are underneath as well it's not often you get to see the underside of a hippo and when we sort of see the the bulbous backside just sticking out of the water they are but just you can really really see how pink they are underneath I'll be able to go closer into that wound Dobby just my wound Cobert is asking is it possible the vultures could find it first absolutely definitely possible as well vultures are big scavengers around this area too so normally the vultures are very visual they use are very keen eyesight to locate carcasses or pre or any items that they can scavenge so yes there is absolutely a chance of vultures could find it first I'm just checking the Sun is really going down an hour and of course we still have plenty of time west of drive we will explore the dam a little bit so it's not too much focused on the dead bull here but I am intrigued to see who appears there we go good look at the Sun behind us they are golden how are my favorite time of day but Chitra being the area that it is I really really really don't believe that something's not gonna come along very shortly have you they don't think it'll take too long I can hear the keep Turtledove can you hear that now actually directly behind us I won't be able to give you a view right now but I can turn the car we have the remains of the buffalo carcass that was left over from the Inca Houmas and they evoke us all elephants sorry I've just completely switched topics or I do apologize oh I wonder if they're gonna make their way down here I think is quite a high chance actually that it may come down for a drink I wonder if it's the same herd we saw earlier so yes behind us is the leftover from that buffalo carcass that the Inca homas and the Evo cos were feasting on during our CG team and of course the hyenas came in and they remain still lay behind us alexsei the elephants are walking off in a different direction doesn't it I was hoping that they would be headed this way they still possibly kids it's been quite a while since I've seen elephants drinking or playing with the water that would really be a lovely sight and to sort of counter balance a sadness of this little hippo here we can try and get a little bit closer to them I'm gonna try and get closer to the elephants hopefully they will head this way anyway we'll try and get a better view of you they're not too far away and we can keep our eye on the hippo so you guys over to amber eyes thanks Larry good luck with you elephants lionesses have gotten so over the Flyers that their have moved away closer to a huge run amid and that's behind us and then our lying in an in Parliament and so ladies I wonder if you know what you're doing to know that by doing that you're going to get less less flies we have a look at her dad sirs tummy there Owen for weeks we've been talking about suckle box everybody and that right there marks very cute certainly unfortunately aren't able to produce a replay for you because when we saw those Cubs before the show and it happened so quickly that own didn't manage to record anything do apologize but we just can't have to show you them live that is the way it's good to be and I'm just keeping my eyes peeled because to the right of us here when that lioness is looking is exactly where purple I seem to have vanished and where we thought for some time she's been keeping cubs lots of little thickets sort of cover areas for her to keep cubs in and so maybe we'll get her coming out maybe maybe she does have Cubs as well that's all speculation with her but I can promise you everybody we saw a cup with em bars comes another one and I'm not aware of lions having problems giving birth I don't know I mean the first time mother's I suppose you can always be tricky with some animals but sort of from a genetic point of view Lions that have serious problems giving birth probably don't survive and then that a genetic sort of variants is sort of dismissed from the population but some hyena are the ones who have the difficulty with their first birth because of their very very strangely designed birth canal often the Cubs actually suffocate on the way out but I've never known or heard of lions having difficulty but then have never seen it I've never seen it it's a young sub adult you know the sub-adult buying up right in the in Parliament I wonder if you know young one he was lying in a toilet hello rosin you wanna know how he tell a lions age well that's a very good question everybody who watches the show and people have been working on the property have been documenting the births of these lions so all the lioness have got a sort of birth month it's not easy to males as well it's not easy to tell the exactly what the day is because it takes a couple of weeks or so to really ascertain where exactly the Cubs are or if there are Cubs but for example it's August we can assume that Amber's cubs were born this man that if purple is only materialized with Cubs it'll be this month as well and so then we'll be able to keep tabs on that as time goes by that's sometimes you can look if we go to this lioness on the right and you look at her belly you can tell that she has net cubs because she doesn't have extended mammary glands and she still got a lot of spots on her leg but the size of these sub-adults is really really dramatic they're all right up there with the adults at the moment in size so we know that they're three in a bit three and a half or whatever it is right now just yeah just over three so is when they start becoming reproductive and start mating but you can tell clearly that they haven't had Cubs which can often give you a cue that they're younger than three but when you look at an adult like amber eyes there she's had Cubs before and that should lead to the extended mammary glands and sometimes when you see an old lioness you'll just be able to see her her fur looks like it's been washed too many times she almost doesn't have any spots left and sometimes the nose goes very very very dark and they start losing fur and losing a bit of condition but without knowing the actual date or year of birth I don't think it's very easy to to really guess age of liens I mean they become mature between three and four lioness and then to be able to gauge the difference between a four year old and eight year old I don't think I'd be able to do that yeah noise has gone and quite dark also you can look at tears in the ears the ears can give you sort of indications of the amount of trees she's run through broken or canines as well can indicate certain things and she does seem to be having a bit of an irritation with her eye maybe one of her youngsters Bob - where are you going now these sub-adults will follow her because they don't know where purple eyes gone no doubt and buyers is frustrated with the flash is gonna go vent her frustration on some hapless Impala more kudu yeah come the other two own in a walk right past us stuck in my head there we go and the third one I think is still hanging back there and if you have a look at the size now very hard to unless you see the belly that's anyway I'm able to really at a glance tell if they are the sub adults we call it a sub adults although they are starting to startin to mate it's very hard to say who is the biggest now amber eyes are still a very big line is yeah well we're gonna follow these three and they are leading away from the den that Amber Rose has got to pass everybody I'm terribly sorry you just can't stuff to wait now the day for the big reveal yes comes are we gonna turn on the car hit down the road amber eyes is not interested in showing them to all of you today I'm terribly sorry about that but while we move on and follow these three let's go back over to Lauren who's caught up with her elephants so it's not the best view we've ever had of elephants but we did get closer and they're very highly mobile and they're wearing stockings they all have wet legs it looks like they're reelin well maybe not stockings maybe welly boots so they definitely have been in some source of water I'm not sure fish shits were not no we're definitely not there when we were there I really hope we didn't miss a big herd of elephants but they definitely have been in the water because they've got those dark white marks on their legs but unfortunately it's just a terrible view now I do apologize about that they're just on a bit of a mission it was trying to think if we could possibly get them from the other side mmm they're right in the middle of the block there right in the thicket it's so nice of elephants around again not quite as lovely as this morning sighting but it's still nice to have them around so shall we go back to the hippo or at least of dam we can go and see what is going on around the dam and keep our eye out for anything that may be approaching this young people now from what we can see the wouldn't understand looks about the size I think very very small don't know what caused it but it's definitely an open wound so I don't know how much of a sort of odor that would actually cause for the smell to travel in the air but there is definitely an open wound am I gonna crash into this tree possibly it's always a possibility okay so we're just gonna get out of here no the elephants have disappeared and returned back to the dam all good it's always handy when you have a cameraman on the back they tell you you're gonna reverse into anything I'm cars asking Buddha fish ego scavenge on the dead temple I think that was the question I really don't believe so obviously fish egos are known but eat fish when they are of course top carnivores funds going into a carcass like that would really really be quite dangerous for a fish eagle especially when there's other animals attached to it voters or any other sort of predators so I really really don't believe that fish Eagle would approach the hippo but I saw it I've definitely got a visual over where we position ourselves with the hippo and I almost forgot we got a date I can't remember this specific seat but it was March 2017 I think yes March 2017 wane the Marathi was last flowing but I don't think it was flowing flowing like a proper River I think it just made he had a few inches of water in it and it was March 2017 so I did say I would get back to you I think it was Janet would ask that question it was ankle deep but still not as a lot of order especially compared to what we have now but it wasn't a sort of waist deep flowing river but ankle deep is still a lot of order so that was two years ago approaching three years ago and we had water in the mall watching I almost forgot to share that with you Lu's confirming it was the eighth of March I believe it was Jeannie's sighting and she's splashing about inside out have fun I can actually see the fishy go from here good thing I had my contact lens in it okay so we're heading back to the dam see what else we can see around here there's never a dull moment in Chitra there's always plenty plenty of light I'm actually gonna show you that remains from this buffalo that I was telling you earlier if any of you that watch our CGT Angels you will remember this it was the Inca Houmas and we evoke us kill this Buffalo and it provided quite a feast for all all the scavengers that we're talking about lions hyenas vultures and of course this is all that remains it's really not much it is the horn the horns horn boss and a very small part of the vertebrae so that may not make sense to everyone who's watching but for those who did watch that site hang with the Inca whom Isis it's all that remains of that Buffalo I think the high you know she really did polish it off and of course they probably nod on a lot of the bones here as well not very pleasant at Murphy and here the hippo is honking behind me I'm just gonna turn let's see if we can get a view of that fishy go for you okay can you see it yeah that means got it he's on it I think this is the same one from earlier actually so excuse the launch that is chitwa chitwa and there you have it the iconic beautiful fish eagle you can't miss it and normally there is a monogamous pair here normally there's two they're not always right next to one another but they're normally own sort of opposite or adjacent trees gorgeous I'm just having a scan around to see if I can see the other one but no avail now we are starting to lose light very very slowly but that somebody is going down now I do wonder if Steve has any updates on the liens I'm on the eastern Channel at the minute so I do wonder if Steve has any updates on what on earth is going on with all these liens that people say are everywhere today maybe he can share a little bit more insight than I can and talking oh let's go over to him himself and see if he knows exactly what's going on the lines hello Lauren you want to know about who wants to ask about lions which Lions lose her I didn't just cut the end of that update we followed these two young lioness and now air bars has got a dinner loop she's turned back again well there have been lots of movements around them a bride has been on our property for two weeks that I know about with the two little littlest cups amber eyes and purple eyes seemed to be here in our drainage lab south of the dab possibly both Dedinje and the ridge nose with the two young cubs is been on cheetah plains and then went south which it were yesterday it was apparently headed north last I heard of the Radia accompanied by two of our males and one of the Avoca males has apparently just come in on our waste and boundary somewhere on Triple M I'm staying with these lions so other than that I'm gonna go back those amber eyes was calling wasn't she did you hear that Owen she might be trying to call mr. step but helps ensure these two young lioness will follow her of course but she walked all the way here hello I'm not gonna go too close to you make you jump but if amber eyes decides oh I forgot to give the kids a little bit of sea that one's gonna go back I forgot to give the kids a little bit of milk before leaving maybe she thought she threw us off just to see what's going on lions can be quite cheeky sometimes that lioness is trying to figure out where did you go and bars on the right okay we'll catch up yeah there's that line is I'm looking for the other one huh the big girl you I heard making a noise before you're all holding thumbs everybody well I'm holding thumbs as well I would like you to see her little bundles plural see I mean you see this Sabbat off moving yet so hard to tell who is an adult these days she's gonna stay with it because it's going to lead us to her I want to suddenly lose all three of them lions are very good at finding each other they don't have to track the way we do I think maybe she just thought by moving further she's gonna get a fight as far away from those flies as she can I'm calling going on this little contact call just gonna keep quiet and let you hear it's a very soft call tuned for the ears of lions amber eyes is not responding the second youngster is on its way as well she's heading straight back where we just came from so let's move up there maybe we'll get a view of them but further up they'll be pretty cool she's heading straight back through as she came from she's jogging now it's not because of me I can assure you she wants to keep up with with ambras who is a very efficient hunter she probably knows that if we lose amber eyes of purple are how are we going to eat tonight although these sub adults are probably quite efficient at hunting now we're still have the need for hanging out with the adults but I'm sure they could still catch food but they're still enjoying having a bit of food provided takes a long time for a juvenile to shrug off the cloak of the adults the protection and the food provision some people have never get shrugged off some earlier than others hmm hello Tyler even a nerf lioness is from different prides ever join up because it two lions have walked back yes Oh quite student she's gone back so Charlie want to know if lioness is from different prides ever join up and no they don't they're not related if lioness is from different areas meet up this often can be quite violent and quite aggressive lions actually defend territories against other Linus the lion answers to males who encompass more than the one pride Oh little one are you I'm sure I can see the tracks let me hit up the ahead and see if we can see if there is indeed and ours they with her little ones cuz it is getting to that stage when the Sun is just setting so this will be the last opportunity for us today to have a look those are the Lions going that way it's just sits in there looking we're still missing one sub-adults dan you wonder what time it is here it is just gone six I think 22 six who are you are you a bars that's not that's not amber eyes that is not Ambrose is it that is one of the sub-adults she's still close to where the lines are lying up early I've got a few of the two other sub adults I think amber eyes snuck into the drainage where purple I disappeared and she's probably gone to have a little bit of a chat with her and find out what is the plan for this evening maybe she's supervising a little bit of a nanny Duty going okay once you've finished breastfeeding your little Cubs there maybe we can go on the hunt but this youngster is sitting here looking very confused about where there is the prod is gone they are behind you well I'm gonna go to these two Saban else and see if we can see where our bars went to keep well away from this area don't drive in the lion scat that would be a very bad idea as for these two youngsters are looking directly into the drainage way I'm pretty sure purple eyes Bend is doing a business I think they know and they giving her some space it's my pleasure everybody you might not believe it but I quite enjoy seeing little Cubs of myself and since the day I've been back here in Juma from the Mara I've been anticipating finding little uncle Homer pride little Goomer Cubs but I think I was very disappointed because I'd been chatting about and I think followed Ridge Nez towards the northeast northwest sorry that one day we found that heavily lactating female who had suckle marks and we followed her and I thought to myself she's got Cubs and then when I went away when I was in the hospital in the Masai Mara they were in Nairobi Jaime found the lioness with of the Cubs okay well they're looking right and yet the lionesses have gone in so I'm going to just put my nose just in over here maybe we will see her there is a lioness oh she's carried loot we're not going anywhere we're not going anywhere we've got a lioness carrying a cub up on here on the left get your screen shots ready everybody get your screen shot she's just pulled them out of the drainage over here oh my word oh my word I'm gonna give lots of space she's carrying it to the den I'm just gonna stop there Owen can you see I am melting I'm melting okay I'm going to turn just over here her into the spot we were before give me one second there's another cab got its head out mum is with it so it's probably gonna be a little bit relaxed it's possible that she's got well that looks like amber oz to me she's got two she's looking like the very defensive mum that she should be look at that everybody that is - she just carried one there and that is one that's been wandering look how old is that everybody three weeks two weeks it doesn't even know which end to look for the milk wants to play with mums HED okay well this is as much ground as I'm going to give very good 50 yards away so we're giving them lots of space look at that my heart has just melted thank you everybody for your patience today in waiting with us to see this unfold I know it's not art knee open with the most incredible views but this is how it's going to be for now giving the cub he's playing with mum's face here we go now we saw one of these earlier right there that little stamp that's pushed over is possibly where it's Danny but then she came from my right-hand side now that's when I saw her carrying that cub so definitely too they might be more well my heart is about to explode my absolute pleasure everybody it is a highlight for me to be able to show you these scenes we've been into we've been anticipating new arrivals to the Oklahoma pride and buys who had Cubs twice last year in the West we are going to be very sensitive with this sighting they're gonna be very very sensitive and we go to make sure wrecks and as I said is making sure this area is a very well zoned so as to not add any pressure to these animals and as long as mum brings us here to them we were allowed to come and view them she just growled at her own cab she's gonna bring it out why not loot let's do it good afternoon and welcome to the sabi sands tumor private game reserve where we are looking at the newest member of the M Coomer pride this little cub is the first time we're seeing it it is only probably two weeks old maybe amber eyes is the mum we just found this lioness carrying this cub and it was trying to suckle that gave her mum a bit of her hiding on the head and she got a bit grumpy she's now brought it out into the open for the rest of the pride if you have any questions or comments please throw them in on the chat stream below I'm gonna stay with them that is just getting to their time of day when we're going to have to leave to darkness but we've been waiting patiently for a few hours hoping she would lead us to the Cubs or reveal them to us and here she is amber eyes you good little mother you Alliance can have anywhere from two to six Cubs the average being about two or three earlier when we first found this lioness she had one cub that was out and then it moved away and then we followed her as she moved off and we followed her back now carrying a second cub in her mouth which means that is definitely too I'm not sure where the other one's gotten to but maybe one is a little bit shy hi everybody my name is Steve over-the-moon Falconbridge and I'm joined by Owen on camera and we are very excited to be bringing these scenes but one more look at this little cub we're going to be moving out of the area shortly here she is just underneath mom just goes to show you it's probably her first time ever seeing a car she's looking at her mum's tail like it's the coolest thing in the world oh she's also got a lead that it's a bit of a disciplinary objectives for the car tyranny she is so helpless mama you are beautiful and your cabs are going to grow big and strong we hope underneath the protection of this pride I'm just going to keep quiet for a moment listen to the sounds of that little cub how incredible is this everybody well thank you for jumping onboard with us for this very short action broadcast if you'd like to continue watching Safari larvas still live for another 35 40 minutes thank you for joining us at we'll see you again real soon have a beautiful night further okay we're going to put on the infrared everybody put on the infrared for a couple more views of this little cub I don't want to start the car right now at least we've got all our lights off so we can watch it in the darkness without any anything we've got a few adults with us so as soon as amber Oz stashes that cub we will move away if I start my car now I feel like I will give that little cub a not me or a heart attack so while everybody is relaxed while the Cubs getting used to us we just going to sit up very quietly and watch how it investigates its new world welcome to the pride little in Calamba I'm very pleased to beat you and feisty like your mum now for me everybody that is the one thing we've been keeping distance we've been away and she brought it out to us as she's right she had front of us probably about eight nine yards away she's brought the cover art into the open in front of the rest of the pride and seems as if the other members have seen them already because there hasn't been too much in the way of curiosity but that is one of the things that we feel so we are so blessed leopards and lions will actually bring their babies are to you and that is the beginning stages of a bitch ooh a ssin because that cub if we found it as a wild lion without any relaxed adults to be very hard to to betray because you keep moving away from you but it looks at asking what is death machine mums relaxed okay I'm gonna eat the stick she definitely has a little bit of something with her our Emperor's but we can't look at your eyes because we're way too interested in your little one so please everybody hashtag Safari laughs how old do you think this cab is it's um everybody give your opinions there this is the youngest lion cub I've ever seen in the wild normally I'll see them a little bit older than this but this is pretty much the same sort of age as that sausage tree pride cub that Brent head that mysteriously vanished could you open up learned very quickly that mums tale is this source of fascination Oh gotcha these two precious so what happened there it's that one sibel odds came a bit too close to the cabin maybe the intentions looks to be a little bit more than playful and amber eyes just gave it a bit of a disciplinary hearing Marisha you wouldn't know if I've seen a second cup well we saw a second cub when we gotcha hours ago and this cab you also live being carried here from somewhere over to our right so it's not the same cab so there's at least two but we'd have to spend more time to see but we are going to leave in the next few minutes as soon as I feel like that cutters a little bit more comfortable with us we don't wanted to be running away pushback alarm calling north of the dam me around Gallagher pen radio know that - Myka you might move out of this and go and investigate provider of food and plaything mum is everything to me protector jungle-gym that little one's going to follow that one into the night she's like okay little one if you want to go that way let me join you this is very special everybody sir the movement of this company is going to make me think between three and four weeks to the fact that it's physically able to run after mum like that but let me know and what do you think okay well while this lioness moves away from us with of the rest of the pride we're going to leave them let them do their thing and then walking straight towards where Telepan so so keep your eyes on the damn cab because they're probably going to go straight there for a drink and while we move out if you're going to follow up on the alarm calls to the north it's in your back over to Lauren and down bachelor so obviously night is coming in fast we've lost a lot of light the hippos still the same obviously the hippo is still the same it's not alive but I mean the situation is still the same just while we've got this little bit of light left I just want to do one final check on the hyena day I really really want to do my check I know Steve has vetted visited and so much trash but I did go earlier but I actually want to do a proper check and see if anybody is there now unfortunately because the hippo is right at the water's edge we can actually get very close to it and our IR capabilities and that distance are not me I have a funny feeling nothing's gonna calm at the moment I don't think it's being dead long enough and I really don't think enough sane is an ear to attract nearby scavengers or predators now of course it's definitely gonna be worth checking in the morning see what the situation is you never know what's gonna happen but unfortunately this little hippo is just not attracting any attention at the moment as it is now we tried to take a more sort of closer look at this puncture wound you can only speculate what that came from I see some people had thought elephant does look like a tusk but I'm really not sure an elephant would have interacted with a young people like that some thoughts that it could have been another hippo really not entirely sure what it could have been and remember the oxpeckers were really really digging inside of that so they could have actually made the hole or there weren't much worse and much bigger from what it originally started oh it's bee so really not sure what I actually speculate that injury came from and that of course does not mean that that is the injury or the reason that it died now the wind is picking up starting to get a little bit chilly but the Danish just here it's really not far from chitra at all and I just want to see if anybody's home I'm hoping so I haven't had much luck to be other than elephants they were magical but you know I would love to see a hyena especially one of my Juma cleaners we should know relatively soon normally ribbon is a guarantee she's normally always suckling I hope the little puppies aren't found in a bike without adults that would be rather sad okay here we are okay we are here now I don't see anybody normally the suckling takes place right across the road but Sonia I'm gonna get the spotlight I didn't see if maybe someone is off in the vegetation Dane is very quiet Steve did see them yesterday there's no point in speculate and that the Danes have moved where's my spotlight here we have it okay I should just take a scan around and see if anybody could potentially be around June likes to hide just around this corner so I'm gonna move forward abets but at the moment it definitely looks like nobody's home I hope how you nuts don't play with me again I'm gonna have to resort you're not talking to them again and that could be sad they've remained eat those bridges mallesh to see if June's around the corner okay now I do know that Jun always suckles in here and ribbon suckles over there and I don't see anybody so I'm afraid it looks like we're completely out of luck today with the hyenas Oh Deary me well I'm not sure it's worth going back to the hippo at the moment is really difficult to see visually from far away using our infrared like this dead hippo so I think it is worth just taking me last minute bumble through Juma I never know what we're gonna see Steve has been very lucky today but that doesn't mean we also can't be lucky so I think it's worth bumbling forwards and seem to me bump into you you never know I do feel rather sad about that handful they definitely will attract the Lord attention the longer it stays there that's for sure like I do wonder if we are the looks of pretty and Corky sort of reside and rest these days it's been a very long time since I've seen Corky last year I think we before I went to the Mara I have not seen this I you know she's completely disappeared off my radar I do wonder if they're still sort of primarily juma beasts or if they are somewhere else Sharon is seen maybe check on the elves again Oh interesting idea that would involve going into the Marathi very interesting now I'm just gonna get lewd to give me an update on exactly where Steve is cuz I knew he was near twin dams which is the direction that we are heading him and of course I don't want to bump into him or his lions so I just want to check exactly where he is okay he's really far that was a lot of roads loo um he's far away we're all good he's far away so we can we can't go and check on the others that's a good idea Sharon thank you for that I think all the animals are punishing me for going on leave actually they're not too happy to see that be back either hmm so yes we might head into the Milwaukee and see if we can spot anything there and of course it becomes a lot trickier at nighttime you are really really relying on the glare back from the eyes so as we search in the dark of course Steve is too let's go over to him and find out his plans it's Lauren well we met us to finally get to pass the liens and art and lift them and we've got a visual of them moving away towards the dam and Amba house was carrying the youngster at that point so cute so I reckon it's at that sort of really young two to three maybe four weeks they're a little know young young young young it's so gorgeous anyway we um while we were there heard the alarm calls around Gallagher side that was my thought anyway so just gonna come through here and see who we might find making the bushbuck or smart even being in the ala alarm calling that's not the bush buck was outside our camp was going absolutely crazy they sound like a dog but the other start there's a deco and I couldn't look at him the Arliss sounds like a very big dog and a kuru sounds like a dog's dog who's God you do not want to go into sure you can all understand what I mean by that so ward says it Oh something with this clutch maybe it's just driver error hello JC wonder if I've seen any funny interspecies its actions up hmm no elephants chasing Lions or can always be funny elephants chasing hippos I'm trying to think of an example so I'm a little bit overwhelmed at the moment after seeing those Cubs a little I'm so overjoyed to have seen that little cub and by the way that mum was carrying it it seems like she might move from one day to another sorry chase I'm not answering your question at all but something that they'll do they'll have a den for a few days and then move it due to the fact that obviously the scent and the the the possibility of predators being attracted to that Center are quite real but interspecies actions I think one of the funniest things I've seen Reza as I saw that Lapwing fly off there as watching a troop of baboons cross the river in Botswana and a big male baboons are they think they're tough they think that the boy and they kind of walk like this and they're crossing the river and this black Swift lapping probably had a nest somewhere think it was a black sod lapping and it was bombed bombing the the troop of baboons the youngsters as their wins and the youngsters are running and rolling on their back and absolutely terrified as if they were being attacked from the air but you said there were and this big male baboon was walking in the back and they walk with this sort of like the swagger like they don't care about anything and he was watching the troop behaved to this blacks with Lapwing and we were watching close he was looking at us looking at the troop thinking oh no I hope that baby doesn't come for me and then it started coming through and he acted all cool for a minute and then next second he was running like like a bat out of hell and then he roll that his back and try to swipe at the bird and he lost all of his sorts of regal nature that to me is probably the funniest one of the funniest things I've seen he thought he was too cool for school I'm not gonna run away from a bird okay that when it happened he was running he was running and it was very funny here we go chase that's one option one example I can think of now another example is not wasn't funny I suppose but it was an interaction of notes we came across a young male lion but 11 o'clock in the morning sort of sub out of now but three three and a half and he was running you know in those guys run at that time a dad means that mums caught food and so we followed him into the straightest line and we came across six lions had wrapped this Impala around a small jackal berry tree in the river so the riverbank was quite high probably about two and a half meters maybe three meters into the river bank and that managed to catch us in pilar right up against the rumour bank itself and that wrapped it around the tree and now the young males went in and were fighting the females for this kill and we went in to see it because it was crazy and out of nowhere next to us was a herd of probably seven or eight elephant and they were had some really small little babies with them and they suddenly decided they did not like what was going on with these lions and the elephants are going in the circle trumpeting and making all sorts of noise and by this stage I've already taken our vehicle down and I'm facing the Lions and we suddenly see the elephants there my tracker is in the front seat because when we found cats we used to put the tracker inside and he's in the front seat and he says to me bum bum for Tomba which means leave go drive away but I'm sort of down in a drainage line for me to reverse start is going to make its gonna make a bit of a noise and that's probably going to track the elephants towards me when the Lions are making an enormous amount of noise so let's just see what happens if if we keep quiet and we kept quiet I told him to keep quiet so we left the cut off and the Lions were making an enormous amount of noise and the herd of elephant just went straight over the Prada Lions Lions went scattering in every single direction and then the Lions were it straight back onto the kill but by this stage three did because the two or three young males had been very vicious or aggressive at the initial site and maybe the lionesses felt a bit tentative of the ville de beers herds yeah let's go see the Valle de beast in the dark maybe they got a bit worried about the elephants but that wasn't the funny part that was all quite traumatic and quite worrying but everything was fired up into that point and then this is the part I really really enjoy this gonna switch off to finish that story because I need to use my hands and so one male line young male line was on the kill and this young elephant bull probably bats 20 or so he came walking towards the lion and he was eye level with the line like this looking at it he lifted his trunk and he flicked the line with the end of his trunk he hit them the male line right on the head and a male lion away about maybe 180 200 kilograms so 300 350 pounds and he's somersaults at four or five times and lay over there and just weird okay I'm just gonna lay here that for me was incredibly funny not so funny for the lion it was a very very high energy energy moment but the story continues because the story continues because they had some french guests with me and this guy got in the vehicle with it with a really nice camera something like what Owen is using now maybe not as good but you know he wanted to capture the Bisco he wanted to capture everything he wanted to capture all of the game drive moments you know what I mean and I said to him one day because when people have cameras you've always gotta say listen be sure to put that down sometimes so that you can actually capture what we're doing and experience it with your memory and so he said now very good with us and he had that camera during the sighting now imagine we went down the drainage line and this whole iron thing happened this elephant herd was there we ran over the Lions this male lion got hit by the elephants and in these lines fought again now I seem to show me the footage of toots at this camera one of these all he caught was the sound he got nothing think okay well let's have a look at these wildebeest while I catch my breath after story that were they gone hello vol the best welcome back to Juma I haven't seen you guys around for a little while they're a little bit far off everybody that's okay Paula and partner just alarmed over there why are you alarm in parlor all the best are moving away [Music] while they're moving parlor lobbying and the valta beasts are moving in the direction that the impala are alarming so when that line got hit by that elephant trunk had just decided you know when you see some guys they're getting a fight they just decide I've done I'm just gonna lie down now my that's all god no more fighting that's exactly what happened to him he was fine afterwards maybe but a bit bruised in a bit upset with life okay I'm gonna stop here you've all the best and let's see if we can here with those in parlor alarming they're just crossing the road I'm sure he had a proper headache the Volta boys don't seem to be too concerned I'm gonna have a look there's something bothering these Impala yeah there's something so if all these understated move a little bit forward see if I can get another view of all the beers like in parlor sharting that's all they ever do when we see them it's shot I can't see anything off to the left-hand side but I'm sure there is something so I'm just gonna poke my nose in it see what we can find probably a limpet wouldn't be too much of a concern for the Valda beast to be honest okay well while we try to figure out what these impalas are shouting at let's go over to Lauren and see if she's managed to find her howl in the nest oh I wonder if Steve potentially could be in the vicinity of a leopard no that would be interesting because they're definitely hasn't been any updates on the leopards from yesterday or today on June that is super bumblin as we decided to do Haydon towards treehouse I haven't actually seen which P hostdime yet I know which try that have been informed but I haven't actually seen it so I thought I'll just try past it and see exactly how dry it really is I can imagine it's pretty dry and you never know we might meet on the way it is almost fully dark now almost there's a slight slight tinge of orange upon the horizon but other than that were completely covered in darkness so of course it's the time of the predator you never know where we're gonna bump into if Steve finds tag on I will be heartbroken I just want to put that out there and see that loud and clear I will be truly heartbroken on patreon so you gonna show me how try you are in the dark now when I was here last which again was two and a half weeks ago it was it still had a substantial amount of water in this Dam oh wow I don't think there you go now he's giving you the best view we can with the IR is not great I know that but there definitely is zero water there Wow hmm I mean I had we can see eyes there to see possibly you scrub here can you see it I think it is a little scrubby but we'll go and check it out very small animal could potentially be a tiger or a scrub here I can still see it I think it is a scrub here yes it is I can make out the shape now a little scrubby here so how long does everyone think it's gonna take for sauna to return to us doesn't anybody have any ideas I am betting or not betting guessing shall I see he will be back with us within two days what do you think Bobby all righty what do y'all think when will he be back he will come back I think the scrub here was around here but I'm giving it two days well whatever that creature was I do think it was a scrub here has a bum deed and leaped off I can't believe how dry tree houses so from what I'm led to believe tree house was the last to go it was the last time to dry up of course we have our pans but it was a last natural dam out of all of them to completely lose its water hmm all the animals have just completely decided to hide from me but you never know we may get lucky with some nocturnal ones and a lord is dark and it is technically nighttime is still not that Li the Sun has only just said although you said lots of people are hoping for a last-minute leopard wouldn't that be great I haven't heard personally any of these on where timely or Columba are recently we were seeing tandem very regularly before I left I think it was ian has seen two weeks Oh house sounds are gonna be the long time two weeks before horse a nose back hope you're wrong no offense but I do hope you're wrong two weeks is a long time but potentially you never know he doesn't seem to like it down there and many others say he'll come back when Tristan comes back possibly possibly I think Tristan is coming back in about a week I could potentially be wrong and seeing that yes that's always a possibility that was Hanna will come back when Justin comes back but I'm hoping of course is really not that he did venture on down a few times along the lothian but then a few days he was back again that boy can travel far within a day chris is saying maybe tingey really did chase him off this time ah I don't want to think that I don't think man I think from what I gather and again I'm always hesitant to see what we hear from from other guides not because anyone would live it just because unless you actually see it happening or you know there's photos or videos sometimes that I just like to take things with that pinch of salt shall I see so it appears from what I hear that ting gone has been rather busy with the ladies and being very boisterous and fighting off all the meals so if that really is the case I don't want to thank you love cheese sauce on are we he's definitely up until this point being very very tolerant of his son they snarl at each other they probably do what boys do but the tolerance is definitely there so hopefully not I think kangana's a little bit too busy with a very beautiful lady known as coach other to be bothered with chasing Hassan off at the minute but I could be wrong again at it's just speculation at this point I was everything haven for me to be not a single soul inside it was very eerie actually so Laura's asking well about hosannas movements now we believe he's traveled so I think this news came yesterday was it yesterday or today before my goodness I do apologize time really does run away with me yesterday I think that husana has gone side he's been seen travel inside on his way back down to Long deluzy but I must say it was myself that was on Drive at st. when we had the last information that he'd taken a little hike damped alone deluzy so we won't see him and I remember driving and I just we just noticed these Impala acting really really strange so we stopped to investigate happens to be live at the time and I popped Isana I think there's screenshots of my face that will never disappear circulating on the internet that day it was a look of complete and utter shock it's not a great photo yeah but the reports said he was down in Long deluzy so of course these things can be slightly outdated or potentially wrong and he was really here after all so Laura that is the update but you are right he potentially could be back on Juma he is a very famous leopard and he does tend to get spotted along the way and reports sir obviously updated on where he is but dry right I mean could show up at any point and he was he loves the dam the jam cam area who a Telepan a little bit too much so I will be on tomorrow morning's Drive and I am going to give you an update on that hip hop because it's intriguing me as much as I'm sure it's intriguing all of you so it's not been a very lucky drive for me tonight but hopefully tomorrow at Roby's so good night for me and we're gonna send you guys over to Steve thanks Lauren well let's Peter but slow afternoon we started off with a quick visual of one of the Cubs and then well our patience has paid off and we've managed to at least see what are they in the fading light now those Impala was shouting and we drove all over the place trying to see what exactly that Impala was looking at maybe they haven't seen ville de beers for so long they were alarm calling going well the beers bill the beers what art thou Valle de beers - they're moving back over towards quarantine that's where they like to hang out apparently there were a lot of zebra on the property this morning maybe because the Lions were in calling for two days I think Oh safe to go back that is something of importance that is something interesting there looks to me to be a leopard I'm not sure I think it is I'd be hundred percent sure I saw it from a distance oh it is once again the formidable de coeur that throws us off last-minute leopard would be garaged but so we've got ourselves a last-minute taker can you just frame him their own because I mean from a distance it suits me to be an English the eyes are quite close together and just on the right of that log if you punch in there left up there it is so from a distance you see those eyes are quite close together and then you think okay zeliha put in the body was sort of length darted almost look like it was was lying down sort of in a stalk ish position but alas we have disappointed you this afternoon everybody that is okay we're going to turn around cookie back onto the road I was on so Dacres also have the potential to scare the animals we see it quite regularly because of that exact reason yes so those of you who have access to the damn cab those lionesses that we were with earlier are currently at the dam at least one of them is busy having a drink well I think so well everybody what a fantastic afternoon it has been high and over the moon with this afternoon's discovery and we still need to figure out about purple eye but that will come with time all the beasts are running over here what is wrong with you guys I've heard lions in the last week or two and they're just going Wow can we go back to tumour we're not very sure well we're just going to bumble along this little road yeah this is a very good area for a last-minute leopard but what we actually going to do is allow the Vil the best to cross in front of us just about to crust for about the jerkiness there here come the wildebeest through the darkness back honor to the open areas of quarantine to apologize for the dust it is a Valle de beast migration after all well who knows what will happen with that young hippo Dona Chitra we look forward to spending much more time with uncle Homer prides as they grow stronger and stronger we'll do our best to find you a spotted cat tomorrow but a lion cub I think will top the charts for that thank you everybody for joining us on this Sun set Safari from myself Owen Lauren and David Saddam that has been a wonderful afternoon thanks for joining us see you tomorrow goodnight and goodbye
